I do not recommend Poet’s Walk. My husband, a 30 year Navy veteran, was not treated with dignity or respect. I was so concerned about his welfare that I moved him from Poet’s Walk after 27 days of residency. Prior to moving in, my husband attended adult day care and was active for seven hours on those days. After three weeks at Poet’s Walk he was lethargic, not able to stay awake for more than an hour at a time; he was noticeably less verbal; and considerably physically weaker. He appeared disheveled and unkempt. I believe his condition was the result of no activity and excessive sleep. He was not properly showered and not shaved. He had a fall and an injury to his toes. There were mistakes with medications. The environment is noisy and chaotic. Aides rarely interacted with him. He was left alone for hours without any contact. These are only some of the issues I experienced. When I tried to address the issues with the front office staff they were defensive and condescending; minimized situations, or lied to me. The Director, [name removed], said she was interested in talking to me after I left, but she never followed through. I have contacted the corporate office, but I have not heard from them either. Clearly, they did not care. It’s also notable that this is one of the most expensive facilities in the area.

We moved my father 3 weeks ago to Poet's Walk Sarasota, FL and he is a new person! He had gotten so depressed at his former ALF. His comment about Poet's walk after the first week was "Honey, this is the best hotel yet! This place is super!" I attribute his attitude and assessment to the great leadership. Courtney Lonseth is doing a great job as the Director. Her nursing background is a very positive assets in understanding the need of the residents. Nadine is the Nursing Director and Dad is receiving excellent nursing care in a prompt and professional manner. Employees who have really impacted Dad's happiness and care are Skye, Jessica, Heather, Tai, Lowgen, Yunia and Chris Riccio. From Hugs to interesting activities, respecting his desires at the level he is able to participate, and portraying the needed positive attitude and compassion, they are doing a great job keeping Dad involved and active. James Barnett has been fantastic in helping us get special needs set up for Dad. All of the staff are so kind and responsive to every request and they get the job done! We could not be happier with the compassion and service Dad is receiving. Thank you!

A few months ago, my sister & I were looking for a new memory care residence to move our mom to. At that time, Poet's Walk had nobody managing the residence and we felt our mom deserved a better quality of care than she was receiving there.. Then, Courtney, the new director, and Nadine, the head of nursing, arrived. It has barely been three months, and there is no longer a reason to move Mom. Courtney and Nadine have cleaned house replacing (and adding) staff where needed, implemented training and orientation for all, created a more targeted activity program, and have built a cleaner, safer and more caring community. Individual needs of residents are being addressed on an ongoing basis, and as the out-of-town daughter of a parent with Dementia, I appreciate the candid, yet empathetic support given to our family. I am "wowed" by the progress and direction of this community. Google will need to add additional star options for Poet's Walk in another few months!!!!

Poets Walk has done an amazing job taking care of my clients; they are accessible for questions; responsive to my client needs and keep me informed of any and all changes.

My father became a resident a few months ago. I am continually imperssed with the consistent quality of care he is receiving. The nursing group here is just so good. The continually reassess the residents medical care. The activities group is just so much fun. They really have good activities that delight the residents. They are continually encouraging even the reluctant to participate. I feel very comfortable with the decision I made to put my father in their care.

I am very grateful to have my mom cared for at Poets Walk. I cant say enough good about the caregivers (the most important people in the facility) and the rest of the staff, including the director, Colby. My mom has been in memory care since 2017 and at Poets Walk since September, when we relocated to the Sarasota area. She came to Poets Walk fairly sick and in a wheelchair and now is doing much better and walking again. The nursing director helped my mom get a medical bed when she needed it. The food is excellent and the facility is new and well maintained. They have lots of activities there and get the residents involved in all sorts of activities (the residents put on a really great bell ringing program for Xmas, for example), and Colby, the director, is extremely friendly, responsive, and involved with the residents. Really, the whole staff is good. Im so thankful I found this place for my mom.

This is a beautiful community; but more importantly they have a caring team of professionals. While visiting my friend who resides in the community I notice that the employees really care about the residents and provide excellent activities.

Everything Poets Walk offers, from the resident accommodations to the daily activities, to the warm and caring staff, and the delicious menus, reveals the facilitys focus on excellence. Since placing our mom at Poets Walk, we have witnessed an increased vitality in her. Also, since we are a large, geographically dispersed family, the Smile Program that Poets Walk offers has proved to be a great help in keeping us apprised of moms daily activities. Placing mom in a facility was a difficult step for our family, but Poets Walk has helped us make the transition seamlessly. The staffs attention and involvement made all the difference. In many ways, Poets Walk in Sarasota, FL have given us the opportunity to enjoy our mom more, and hopefully for as long as we can.

Wonderful, beautiful new memory care facility, very well managed with an amazingly caring staff providing great support for residents. The only facility Ive found where both spouses can stay together even if only one qualifies for memory care. After now having my parents here nearly a year, I cant emphasize enough how resident focused the staff are! So many staff members Ive spoken with have experienced a relative who lived with Alzheimers that its obvious their work here represents a sense of mission for them.....and it truly shows through the sense of joy and caring they show for the residents on a daily basis!

Ive been fortunate to interact with and visit all Spring Hills and Poets Walk communities during my 9 1-2 year tenure with Spring Hills Senior Communities. Im proud of the care, experiences and living environment we provide.
March 2019
After visiting numerous memory care facilities, I found Poets Walk went the extra mile to provide the perfect residence for my mother. They have an excellent and caring staff, the social programs and interactions are great and the food is very healthy. When I visit my mother I always leave knowing that my mom is being well taken care of and is enjoying her new home.

I have been in over 100 Senior Living Communities (SLC) across many states as a clinician (Therapist) and I have never written a review of any community until now. Poets Walk from the very first moment I pulled into the parking lot I knew was a unique location. The emphasis and primary focal point of each and every resident is amazing and the community itself is bright and open which also offers 2 walk-through outside corridors allowing residents to enjoy the Sunshine State as they so choose. The staff from the top down has always been upbeat and offering how to assist the residents the best they can. The community set-up also offers a safe environment with grab bars, etc in wide open private rooms-bathrooms. Truly an amazing SLC, staff, and the residents are always participating in an activity successfully aging!
