It is not an active 55+. It is more of an assisted living facility without medical service. We finally got a good chef. They cannot advertise a salon on premises because there is none, we lost a good hard working activities director which brightened up the facility. She worked extra hours and I believe RSL did not want to compensate her, She is sorely missed. It did not take long for this development to make a sharp downfall. We never got to see the 3 to 5 percent rent increase, instead it is 8 to 10 percent. I am certain it was based on the federal increase rate. in January. But not even the federal percentage increased 8 to 10 percent. According to RSL everyone was raising their rents high, and of course RSL had to follow. We had good workers that were helpful and polite, but they are gone. Why? because RSL is cheap and greedy. SHAME, SHAME.

Shell Harbor is not the place for 55+ Independent living. It is more of an assisted living facility without the assistance. The review of one star by Mr. Heinzelman is the accurate review for 2023. I don't believe it will get better as long as RSL are the owners. They are cheap in paying their employees, therefore they lose many very good employees..

We put our aunt there almost a year ago and she hates it. They stand in long lines for all meals, and the food is mediocre at best. The staff constantly comes and goes as they are overworked and underpaid. They promised transportation for medical appointments but that doesn't happen. It's impossible to get the bus whenever you need it as it only goes on their schedule - not when your appointment is. If you are looking, look elsewhere.

We found Shell Harper is the best place for my father-in-law. They have everything any retired person need and still keep their independency. They opened last year so everything is brand new and clean. The staff are very friendly and available 24 hours for the residences convenience and emergency. My father-in-law couldn’t be more happy anywhere else.
