Since January there have been a change in the way things operate which has in my opinion hurt the facility. It appears that since David Reisner left quite a few things have changed or better said disappeared. David came around every day and mixed with the residents (he knew all their names) and employees and most important every Friday night at 5;50 he would put out a voice mail to all the residents contacts advising them of what is going on within the facility health wise and socially. I visit my wife almost every day for at least 3 hours and have never met the new director or even seen her. Nobody tells any one to wear a mask any more until you get to the floor that requires one with a sign on the post that you don't see till you almost walk by it. No notification by the lobby desk or by a system message. The care by the employees has not suffered but I believe the moral has. It is still one the best facilities in our area or my wife would not be there.

I had a good feeling when I arrived here and looked around the grounds which are peaceful and calming to me. When I went inside the building everyone I met was so welcoming and nice. I liked the layout of the rooms and I was happy to hear about the different activities that are possible and if needed help with allot of health issues that can come up in the future. You guys have canceled more then 10 shifts in a row with some. Yes they are agency. But it's unfair for them to fill their schedules up with you and you cancel them a day before with no other shifts to claim. This is preventing them from making their money, taking care their kids, and paying their bills. I have never dealt with a more unfair facility. They work harder then your regular employees. The residents always have nice things to say and surprised to have such great care. Is a clean and neat facility for the residents though.

Your staffing is nice and is as accommodating as possible. My father is there to rehab from a second broken hip so his expectations are a bit higher than most. He's in a fragile state and requires a bit of extra attention so the extra help is appreciated. He's only been there for a day and a half and is allowed to stay 30 days for his therapy. I'm sure his stay will be shorter due to his tenacity and drive to get better. Thank you for being there for he and my mother! I'll make sure to revisit this survey at the end of his stay to report his experience there.

I'm a member of Church of the Good Shepherd in Punta Gorda. I have been talking communion to parishioners that are not able to attend church on Sundays for over 5 years. Each time I arrive I find the person at the front desk very nice and so helpful. The staff is also so friendly. The premises is beautiful and well maintained. The living facilities are like a 5 star hotel.I have recommended Southport Square to my friends who are looking for an assisted living for a family member. I go to many assisted living places and would give this a high recommendation.

We have been performing at South Port Square for over 6 months. Each staff member takes great pride in their work and has a heart for people. They go above and beyond from the moment you walk through the front door you are greeted warmly. The residents are so happy, the facilities are beautifully decorated! The level of excellence is evident in the cleanliness of the entire premises. The landscaping is the most beautiful we've ever seen!. Everyone we have met here absolutely loves living here. South Port Square has the best employees, they genuinely care about their well being . The activity Director, Smita raises the bar on amazing ideas for the residents, from having them in fashion shows, Broadway shows, Academy Awards, featuring each resident who wants to participate. They always decorate to the nines for each and every holiday, every celebration and special events. They are beautifully done, always Professional and fun, they intentionally include all of the residents! The residents really love the music and dancing and enjoy one another's company! Southport Square is absolutely Excellent on every level. We are grateful to be a part of it. We have entertained at hundreds of facilities in New Jersey, NY and Florida. This is truly one state of the art facility, the greatest we've ever seen!

My wife Elaine and I have lived at South Port square for six plus years. We truly love this campus. It is hard to explain the atmosphere on this campus. The staff is exceptional. It is an extremely safe environment. There are more activities than one person can do. There are exercise classes, balance classes, water volleyball, tennis, pickleball, outings to restaurants. I live at South Port Square in Port Charlotte, Florida and am very glad that I chose to do so. It is a very friendly community that has many activities to keep you busy. The staff is both friendly and competent in their jobs. The dining and food services are great with many daily selections that are always tasty and healthy. Dining is available in the dining rooms as well as carry out to your apartment. Activities include indoor an swimming pool, tennis court, pickleball courts, and shuffleboard courts. Art classes, computer/ipad classes, virtual reality viewers are all available. Lectures, line dancing, exercise/fitness classes are available. I enjoy the woodworking shop to build projects. Weekly happy hour bands with dancing is available. A different band every week with happy hour drinks provided. What else could you want? It's a great place to live without worrying about maintenance or house keeping chores.

You get a meal every day which you can eat in the dining room or the "bistro" which is a snack bar. The staff is very friendly and makes you feel at home. We moved to South Port Square a month ago and are so happy to have found our forever home! The staff and residents are all so friendly, the food is delicious, and all the amenities and activities are wonderful. In particular, we appreciate the guidance we received from Margie Johnston, our residency counselor, and Jon Gerry, our move-in coordinator. Maintenance (Mike, Bernie, Lou and Kevin) is always prompt and efficient; Smita the activities director is awesome, and transportation service (Rocky and Jill) is friendly and reliable. Plus we have Abbey, our wonderful concierge in Gables East! Life is great here!

My wife, Mary, and I moved to South Port Square in October of 2017. We had lived only seven minutes away for over 10 years so we knew the locale and the excellent reputation SPS had among local residents. The over 40 acres of well landscaped land and three lakes with its wildlife was a main attraction for us. Since then, a tennis court has been added, much to my delight, as well as two pickle ball courts. After moving in, we found the residents, staff and administrators to be friendly and caring. We now consider them as "family". We are simply amazed at all the activities that are available - physical, mental and social activities. You can be active from dawn until bedtime, if you so desire. Mary and my favorites are the weekly dances to excellent, live entertainment and our walks through our grounds. I also enjoy playing tennis three times per week on our tennis court and our weekly poker get together. You should come visit SPS and see for yourself!

South Port Square is a beautiful and comfortable place to live. Both the staff and the residents are friendly and a joy to be around. If we ever suffer from an illness or injury our care is here, on site. Our friends and loved ones can check on us easily, simply by walking or being driven by golf cart to our health center. Transportation takes care of getting us to and from our doctors' appointments. There are regularly scheduled events, either on site or we can catch a South Port Square bus, with our friends, to activities throughout the community. There is a constant stream of activities here to participate in and large parties with live music every week. South Port Square truly exemplifies "Never a dull moment." The dining rooms are table coth dining with excellent views of the property. The grounds are very well kept and quite large. It is easy to take enjoyable walks around the property with a circular drive around the buildings, multiple small ponds and lots of varied landscaping including palms, oaks, flowers and bushes. When we were looking for a place like this, the first thing we noticed was how nice all the residents and staff were. We felt welcomed and comfortable. We know we made the right choice.

My husband and I have been searching for a life care center for several years, snd when we found South Port Square, we knew this was perfect for us! We love the village atmosphere, with an art center, carpentry room, exercise center, bank, hair dresser, indoor swimming pool, Bistro, and Town Hall! And soon a gazebo on one of the lakes. Margie and Jon have made it so unstressful to aquire an apartment with all their help. The food is good, there are SO MANY activities for everyone, and Brian, the administrator will drop everything to help you any way he can. It was a long drive and when we arrived we found my appointment was not as I had anticipated. Not to place blame, it does not matter now, but all I was able to do was have a window visit with my mother. I am writing to thank Ken, one of your security guards, for his helpfulness. I am sorry I did not get his last name but he was working yesterday, Saturday, at Harbor Health. He was so gracious, helpful and conscientious he defused an otherwise angry situation. I came to South Port Square after having my 7th major lumbar spine surgery. It was my first time being sent to rehab after surgery. To say the least, I came in here with a terrible attitude just not wanting to have to do rehab! The staff at South Port VERY quickly changed my mind! What an amazingly caring, loving and positive staff!! I have been here about a week. Today is discharge day and I am very happy to be going home. But I am also a bit sad! That is a HUGE testiment to the people I have met and come to truly care about here at South Port!! I would recommend them to absolutely anyone as long as I knew whoever I was recommending was realistic and would treat the staff with respect!! 10 out of 5 stars without question!!
