Last year our family diligently looked at and visited many assisted living homes with some type of memory care for my mother. Some not very good. Thankfully, we came upon Ortega Gardens memory care and what a blessing it was. They are specialized in working and caring for dementia patients. Equally, all of their staff are trained on the compassionate care that was needed for them. Their facility is set up with three identical neighborhoods. From the least affected patients to the ones who progressively go thru dementia and need more care. This way they live and interact with the residents that are in about the same similar condition. It's an outstanding model that more long term care facilities should adopt. Unfortunately, most of the other place we visited lumped all of the dementia patients together. It was sad and not conducive to their disease and certainly not compasionate. The family would sincerely like to thank Ortega Gardens and all of their staff for the care and compassion they showed our Mom throughout her stay and most importantly in her final days.

Ortega Gardens (on Timuquana Road) saved my life. My mother had rapidly progressed and needed 24 hour assistance. My siblings and I tried to take care of her in each of our homes. We had to keep passing her back and forth and that wasn't healthy for any of us, especially my mother. We tried the adult daycare route. That was not much easier. She absolutely needed more care than we could provide. It was impossible to work and take care of her at the same time and I financially couldn't retire. Ortega Gardens has been able to take care of her activities of daily living as well as her doctor appointments. My mother has been a resident of Ortega Gardens for almost two years and they've done a better job than I could've. I'm thankful to have found them.

Thank you so much for the love and compassion shown to our family member from the moment she got there several years ago right up through helping her cross over. She was loved by your staff and that of Community Hospice. We are blessed to have you in our community.

This is one of the most amazing facilities I've ever visited. The care for their patients exceeded my expectations under every category. The staff is phenomenal and the only place I would trust my loved ones with.

Our mother came here after being at one of those newer commercial townhome looking, independent/assisted living facilities that had a "memory care area" built in. Unfortunately within weeks, she had a fall and we soon found that cognitively, she just wouldn't be able to stay in the other 2 areas, so we moved her into the memory care section. It was going ok at first, but then a lot of things happened there - constant change of staff and increased pricing, they were going to raise the fee if we didn't move her into a smaller room (which we did and they STILL increased it anyway), she was often unclean, found on the floor by family - not by staff who barely spoke English & constantly on their phones, clothes, Depends and t.p. constantly went missing, no nurse on staff (she quit), we paid for cleaning of the room but had to bring our own cleaning supplies because it was always so sticky & filthy, etc. A venerable nightmare and we went to see her almost daily because of it! At our wits end, we finally decided to look around for a facility that specializes in memory care and finally narrowed it down to Ortega Gardens. Ironically enough, another resident where we trying to leave from was ALSO moving into Ortega so that gave us the push that we needed. It also let us know that we weren't the only ones experiencing issues. From the start, the blended staff was so amazing, kind, compassionate and knowledgeable about what we were going thru. The price was on budget (and better than it was previously) and our mother would finally be doing well planned & thoughtful activities, had structured enrichment, as others mentioned - a beautiful garden area, walking path and a homelike atmosphere where we knew she would be comfortable and safe with others just like her. They separate them into "neighborhoods" which suite their changing cognitive abilities so that you're not just lumped in with anyone, at every stage, which is fantastic! Our dear mother lasted 5 more months in their care with dementia before the good Lord called her home. Not once when visiting was her room ever a mess or unclean, she was always showered, her clothes were clean, put away and never went missing, we saw the same lovely staff & friendly faces working there each time with no turn around that I could see. Don't listen to the fake reviews. There are all matters & backgrounds of people working here! They have the best staff, which may be why other people may have been passed up and the management expects professionalism and dedication to the job. It clearly shows. We never had an issue with the CNA's, nurse, cooks, therapists, cleaning or maintenance staff; who all seemed to be very happy and helpful anytime we were there - day, night & weekends (we visited our loved one a lot). Keep also in mind that this isn't a hospital, it's a memory care facility and in all likeliness, this will be your loved ones last true "home" until they pass away. Dementia & alzheimer's is a death sentence - the best you can hope for is love, understanding, safety and a quick, peaceful passing. Prolonging the inevitable hurts everyone as they slowly decline to the brain abyss. It's hard to watch and even harder to care for. No one or nothing is perfect, but this place is sure close. If you're looking for a place for your loved one with cognitive decline, at any stage, don't wait to move them, this is the place you've been looking for! Our only wish is that we had found this place sooner.

Ortega Gardens is awesome! My grandma has been living in this facility for almost a year, and she has loved it. When I visit, we like to sit outside and enjoy the gardens. The staff is wonderful, and they always have fun events going on to keep everyone entertained and engaged. It's a great feeling to know my grandma is well taken care of here.

Posted on behalf of Stephanie Smith: The overall atmosphere is extremely welcoming; light, clean and offers a great outdoor space where residents can come/go. The staff go above and beyond with care and were extremely kind. I can honestly say, I always felt at peace knowing my Dad was safe and very well cared for. Everyone at the facility was top notch, but I have to recognize the personal attention provided by Wendy throughout the entire process - she was AMAZING and EXTREMELY helpful. In addition, Sharon took great care of my Dad throughout his entire stay; she really got to know him on a personal level. There are so many others that make it a positive place...Dawn, Sam, Richard, Tesha, Sherry...the list goes on. If interested, definitely go for a tour.

After much searching for a place that was the "right fit" for my wife's mother, we decided to visit Ortega Gardens. We are so glad we did. The staff was amazing. Wendy gave us a tour and went out of her way to show us everything we wanted to see and answered all of our questions. We placed my wife's mom there and she is thriving, happy. The staff is experienced with memory care issues which makes a huge difference when placing a loved one in a facility. When she lived with us she showed little interest in activities but now she is very active and happy. We are so glad we chose Ortega Gardens. Thank you. Its been a blessing to our family.

My Mama moved in at the end of 2020. My first contact was with Wendy. She is really compassionate and I greatly appreciate Her help in this transition for Mom. The facility is very nice but most of all they have taken very good care of Mama. If You are going through trying to find long term care for someone with dementia/Alzheimer’s, You should definitely go and check them out. R Pittman

After meeting and speaking with Wendy I stopped looking. Ortega Gardens was the first and last phone call I made. I knew in my heart that I could entrust these people to care for my mother-in-law. She had dementia and stayed in the third neighborhood which is for late stage dementia. It started out as a respite but she ended up living out her days there, from March to December as Covid hit about 2 weeks into her stay. Her care was exceptional and we felt the actual love they have for their patients. I cannot more heartily recommend Ortega Gardens for the care of a special loved one.

When searching for an assisted living facility for my mom, I wanted cleanliness, caring staff, and a place where my mom felt comfortable. During our first visit, we were greeted with smiles and Hello, Pretty Lady! My mom beamed; she waved to the other residents like she belonged there. Everyone was so friendly. We had found her new home! Wendy, Admissions Officer went above and beyond to make our move easy. Even the maintenance dept. offered suggestions as to what personal items to bring to make Moms room feel like her home. She was so happy there! While there her dementia became more agressive. The staff worked with Community Hospice to provide her the best care and comfort. Mom passed away while living at Ortega Gardens. When I went to collect her belongings, I received a hug and words of condolence from all the Administrative Staff. Wed become like family. What touched me the most was that all nurses and staff in my moms section whether directly assigned to her care came to me to share a story about my mom or extend words of sympathy. Wendy found me and said, Im so sorry this happened while your mom was with us. I responded, Im not. I knew her days were numbered when she began her journey here. Im happy she was surrounded by people who loved her and cared about her during her final days. A memorial table was set up that included my moms picture in the lobby. I was grateful that I was allowed to share plants from her funeral service with Ortega Gardens. On the anniversary date of Moms passing, Wendy reached out to me; I still know I made the best decision for me and my mom. Kelli Heath

I cant say enough positive words about this terrific memory care facility! Both of my parents are so well cared for here in their separate neighborhoods. The facility itself is beautiful and so clean. The staff is very caring and upbeat. They bend over backwards to assist you in any way they can. I love the personal attention my parents receive from cheery hellos from the staff to hugs and much kindness. I see smiles on residents faces as a result of the constant positive energy and care the staff imparts! All the staff are shining stars - office, management, nursing and medical, kitchen, activities, and reception staff - all top notch! When it became necessary to move both of my parents from their home into an assisted living memory care facility, I worried about finding a place to meet their needs as well as ours. I looked at many different facilities and I am so glad that I found Arbor Terrace Ortega. It is the perfect spot for our family. I highly recommend it to all of my friends and others in the area seeking a place for their family members.
