It’s truly apparent that everyone who works at Sonata is here because they care. I can’t praise Andrea, Jennifer, and Jackie enough. They have truly been with myself and mother during this difficult time and have gone above and beyond to make sure my Mom is comfortable and her needs are being attended too.

Exceptional facility! I am a therapist by trade that travels around Palm Beach county in and out of Assisted Living and memory care units. I rate Sonata of Boca Raton as my top choice when families ask for recommendations. This is a well run building by the Director of Nursing Jennifer. She is a hands on D.O.N. and is well respected by her employees. Sonata of Boca is very organized, clean and staffed with genuine caring people. It will not disappoint!
December 2025
Truly welcoming environment. The staff are compassionate, attentive, and genuinely invested in residents’ well-being. The facility is clean, comfortable, and feels like home. Highly recommend.
December 2025
Sonata Boca Raton consistently demonstrates a high standard of care and professionalism. The staff are courteous, attentive, and dedicated to providing residents with respectful, compassionate support in a safe and comfortable environment. Their commitment to resident well-being is evident in every interaction. The facility is clean and thoughtfully organized to promote both comfort and independence. Residents have access to a variety of structured activities that encourage social engagement, physical wellness, and mental stimulation. Knowing that my mom is happy, well cared for, and surrounded by compassionate people makes all the difference. We are truly grateful for this community and would highly recommend it to anyone seeking assisted living for a loved one.

As a placement agency that works with hundreds of assisted living communities nationally, we rarely offer formal reviews, as communities naturally evolve over time with changes in leadership, staff, and policies. That said, Sonata of Boca Raton stands out as an exception. From the moment you enter, the community has a distinctly warm and welcoming energy. The atmosphere feels less like a traditional assisted living environment and more like a comfortable bed-and-breakfast, where residents gather in the mornings to enjoy coffee, danishes, read the paper, and genuinely connect with one another. There is an ease and familiarity that makes it feel very much like an extended family. I have known the Executive Director for over a decade and have consistently been impressed by her decisiveness, leadership, and unwavering commitment to excellence. She embodies the role of a ship’s captain steady, engaged, and deeply invested in the quality of care entrusted to her. The culinary program is another highlight. Meals are thoughtfully prepared, visually appealing, and consistently inviting. The chef is creative, attentive, and flexible”able to pivot as needed to ensure residents receive high-quality ingredients with appealing presentation. The nursing team is attentive, compassionate, and highly observant. The Director of Nursing, in particular, demonstrates a strong clinical intuition and an ongoing awareness of residents’ health and wellness, often identifying subtle changes before they become larger concerns. The community itself is consistently clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully cared for, reflecting pride of ownership and operational excellence. I would wholeheartedly recommend this community to clients or prospective residents who are looking for a warm, homey atmosphere with genuine social connection, meaningful activities, and a lifestyle that feels far more like a welcoming social hub than a traditional assisted living facility. Last note and disclaimer: While acknowledging that community dynamics can change over time, I am comfortable reviewing this community in this case. Should those dynamics meaningfully shift in the future, I would revisit or withdraw this review accordingly.

I can not say enough about Sonata Boca Raton! My mother has lived there for 18 years!!!!!! Recently we had to move my mother-in-law in too! Jacki, Andrea, Jennifer and all the staff made a very difficult and delicate transition go as smoothly as it possibly could. They and staff all went above and beyond to be as supportive as possible. We felt so incredibly blessed! The staff at SAL have been there forever, they treat the residents like family, and everyone is so nice and loving! The food is delicious, the facility is clean and welcoming. Everything is top notch; Marcia the social director has been there for 18+ years and is wonderful! The staff all have an attitude of they just can’t do enough for you! Hands down, look no further! This is the one!

My mother lived at Sonata Boca Raton for two and a half years before passing away recently, and our family is grateful for the care she received. In particular, I want to recognize Jennifer Freund, Director of Nursing, for her steady clinical oversight and responsiveness; Andrea Shapiro, Director of Community Relations, for her compassion and guidance; and Jacki White, Executive Director, for running the community with professionalism and attention. Sonata wasn’t just a facility for my mother. It was a place where she was treated with dignity, patience, and genuine kindness. She was safe, cared for, and never left feeling alone. I would recommend Sonata Boca Raton to families seeking a well-run, compassionate assisted-living community.
November 2025
The place is old and filthy, the staff is mean. Run don't walk!! This place is actually hell on Earth 🙁
November 2025
My mom has been in Sonats since 2/25. She is VERY happy! The staff is great. The place is small so the residents actually care about each other. It’s a great community!
October 2025
I have resided here for past four months and unfortunately I would not recommend it. Facility is more than 20 years old and filthy with all kinds of bugs food is terrible they use the cheapest quality of meats and fish and food loaded with salt, sugar and fried foods. 80 bed facility largely filled only has 1-2 nurses working each 8-12 hour shift and not enough aides the aides often help out in kitchen and with the residents and I don’t think they get paid more than $13-15 an hour. Their sign says #1 they don’t abuse and neglect residents but crappy and unhealthy food and not even proper staff to resident ratio is just that. Most patients in 80s and 90s and I feel from the general lack of care they receive it should be called assisted dying. There are indeed a few high quality nurses and aides but a lot not as good because they don’t speak or understand English well. They seem to be moving in a lot of residents at the very end stages of life when I think the families would be better off with home care if they are that close to end . Ambulances are an almost daily occurrence here back and forth to hospitals . Pretty sad environment overall. Concerns are addressed to the executive staff but no major changes are made. Their hands are tied by budgetary restrictions so I blame the owners of these places who should be fined for providing such low quality care compared to the prices charged . Prices range from 4000 per month and up depending on levels of care needed. The more wealthy families supplement with private aide hires but most cannot afford the extra care.

I am from NYC and went to visit my family member at Sonata. I would highly encourage anyone that is looking for an assisted living facility for their loved ones to live there. The staff was very open to accommodating him with various health issues that he has. The grounds were so beautiful, peaceful and very clean. The daily activities being offered were also so important because it keeps him entertained, engaged and socializing with other residents. The talented chef that prepares the three meals that are offered: breakfast, lunch and dinner were better than the next. The rooms were also accommodating to each resident since they offer them to have their own private living quarters and they can decorate it anyway they want to. I can’t say enough about how much I love Sonata!! I’ve even told my friends in NYC and are considering it for themselves!
October 2025
My uncle has always been very independent, so deciding on assisted living wasn’t easy. The staff at Sonata made the transition incredibly smooth, and now he’s truly thriving. There are daily activities that keep him engaged, and the team is attentive to both residents and families. The quality of care and communication are outstanding. The staff keeps us informed, listens to our input, and is always flexible and creative in meeting individual needs. The smaller size of the community means everyone is known personally, and their open-door policy makes families feel welcome and involved. Sonata genuinely cares about the well-being of both residents and their loved ones. I couldn’t ask for a better place for my uncle.

My Mom has been at Sonata for 5 months and loves it.She was very apprehensive about leaving her Home (for 50 years) . The accommodations are exceptional however, I believe it’s the Sonata team that truly won over my Mom.They have been wonderful! Thank You Andrea , Jennifer and Jackie as well as the rest of your team . I believe it’s the staff that makes Sonata such a blessing to my Mom and our family.

I highly recommend Sonata Memory Care facility in Boca Raton. The staff is kind, caring, and attentive to my loved one’s needs. They provide a safe and clean environment. The facility offers a variety of activities to help keep the residents active and mentally stimulated. While the decision to move my loved one to a Memory Care facility was very difficult, it was the right decision for him and for me. Louise RN
December 2024
My in-laws were here for a year and it made this transition so easy. George loved the food here and he always felt comfortable in his room. We made the mistake of putting them in a bigger facility before this. The smaller, family style feel of this facility was far superior! They really cared for our family like it was their own and I’m super grateful to the staff.
September 2024
Thank you to the dedicated team at Sonata Boca Raton for the excellent care for my mom for the last several years. These are difficult diseases and it has been comforting to provide my mom with safety, exceptional care, community, and the ability to enjoy time together with her being so close. The level of engagement and activities at Sonata brought out the best in my mom...whether bingo, dominoes, live music, sing-a-long videos, exercise class, games, arts and crafts, gardening, hair salon, and many more. The team is very involved and in communication with families. They are truly dedicated to the residents and put their hearts into this compassionate work. We appreciate you.
July 2024
My mother-in-law has been at Sonata Boca Raton for about eight months. Some days she cannot get anyone to get her out of bed. Seems like this happens once or twice a month. At which point, my mother-in-law is in tears of frustration. We also needed to hire a personal aide eight hours a day in order to give her the care she needs because they don't have enough employees to take care of the elderly patients they already have there! This is something you should be aware of before you place a loved one here. Besides that, however, she really enjoys the food and the activities. But the frustration and despair she feels makes me wonder if we chose the wrong place. : (

A rare review from me - I am very proud to know and be a resource for the people at Sonata in Boca Raton. From their Director on down, Sonata's focus has always been about providing the best care for their residents. I appreciate the great people who work hard to provide such a positive experience. Their dedication shows. Thank you!
October 2023
There’s always mixed emotions when placing a family member in Long Term Care. But I couldn’t care for my Dad alone anymore. It was too much. Sonata has been a huge relief for me. The care has been excellent. My Dad is very cranky but has nothing but praise for the staff. I can rest easy knowing he’s safe. And communication has been excellent. Highly recommend.
August 2023
My husband lived at Sonata for approximately 10 months. He was first in assisted living area and later had to be transferred to memory care. The care he was given was adequate for the most part. There were a few times when I visited and it was obvious his diaper had not been changed for quite awhile. My biggest disappointment was what happened after he had to be transported to the ER after an apparent stroke. He was in the ER for seven hours, then moved to Trustbridge hospice where he passed away four days later. I had one text during that time from Jennifer saying that she and another staff member would come to see him. They never came nor did I hear another word from anyone at Sonata. When I went to clear out his room a few days after his death not one staff member asked about him or how I was doing. It was apparent that once the money stopped coming in no one at Sonata had any interest in me or my family. So much for empathy or compassion. It's business only, don't expect anything else after your loved one dies.
August 2023
I wanted to leave a raving review just days after my mom moved in but decided to wait a while to really see how we all still felt. Six months later, we could not be happier with mom's experience at Sonata. My mother is safe, she is eating well, getting her medications on time, and in the right dosage, she is being cared for, and kept busy. The daily activity list rivals some cruise ships. All the things that we just could not sleep well, not knowing while she was living alone. Peace of mind for our family is one of the biggest benefits from this experience so far. So, about Sonata... first of all, this place just feels like home. I tell people it feels like you're walking into a country inn that anyone would want to stay at. Let's face it.... these are elderly residents. The decor, and furnishings in the public areas are appropriate for their lifestyle... warm, homey, comfortable, and accessible. Mom's large studio apartment is the perfect size. We furnished it with a full-sized bed, dresser, nightstand, two easy chairs, ottoman, dinette set, desk, and end tables. The bathroom is large and safe with handrails. The room is bright, and cheery. She has plenty of space. A mini fridge and microwave is supplied. Although the fridge is low to the ground and hard for her to bend down. I think I just need to move it for her. But this review is not about the accommodations. It is about the staff, and other residents. Mom made friends immediately. She loves going out onto the patio and sitting with the ladies after meals, k'bitzing, commiserating, talking on the phone, and sometimes even dozing off. Every day there is something going on. Games, movies, exercise programs, arts & crafts, live entertainment, and religious services. It would be difficult to participate in everything that is available. Toya and her team are awesome. They keep everyone moving. I have even seen them go from room to room encouraging residents to get out and participate in the activities. Nobody is left to just sit and rot in their room. The nursing staff and care team lead by Jennifer are incredible. These are not just a bunch of unskilled "orderlies". They are amazing professionals... every one of them. Lets face it... this is why mom is here... to be CARED for. This is not a nursing home. It is "Assisted" living, but they do more than just assist... believe me. They actually care for the residents. They check in on the residents often, they're patient, they talk with them, they understand each resident's individual situation, and care for them appropriately. When a change order or prescription is sent from her doctor, the nursing staff handles it. When a medical issue arises, this team snaps into action. We already had one experience and could not be more pleased with the communication and how it was handled. I can call or text Jennifer and she will either respond, or have someone contact me right away. Bottom line.... the care team is spectacular, and we have peace of mind every day. I don't have any knowledge of how this Sonata facility was run in the past, I only can speak to the last 6 months. Just about the time that Reggie took over as the Executive Director. When I met Reggie, I immediately felt his sincerity, and professionalism. Reggie is a talented leader that is striving (and succeeding) to make the experience for Sonata residents and families one of the best in our area. We did our research before moving mom in, and compared to other Boca assisted living facilities, the level of care, quality of food, cleanliness, comfort, social programs, and activities scheduled, is far and away the best value out there. I thank this team and am grateful for finding Sonata for my mother to enjoy her life with safety, health, and comfort as the priority. I promise to update my review as time goes on so that other families considering Sonata can make well informed, and appropriate decisions for their loved ones too.

My mom has lived at Sonata Boca Raton since June of 2022. She refers to it as HOME on a daily basis. From the moment my sisters and I took the tour we knew this was the perfect place for our mom. I see that we made the right choice. Our mom is happy, very well cared for and fed delicious food that is clearly prepared with LOVE. Sonata Boca Raton is spotless clean and beautifully decorated. It just makes you feel instantly HAPPY as you walk through the door. Our mom's room is beautiful and sunny. Our family always receives a huge welcome when we are arrive...it makes us feel like we are part of a BIG, HAPPY family. It is important to mention that Sonata Boca Raton is also a lot of FUN. There is always a party, a lobby activity or live entertainment. We are so happy that our mom has found her perfect home at Sonata Boca Raton. Thank you to everyone who is taking such good care of her!

Five Stars may not be enough for Sonata Boca Raton. Aside from the facility, food and amenities, the staff across the board was a welcome joy. I was visiting over a year ago and came in late missing the dinner hour. No worries, it wasn't that late and a plate was set out, yum! Now Mom is moving in. Shari, director of admissions and Michael, director have answered every question. Management at Sonata is doing something right. In this climate, I have confidence in the professional manner in which Sonata is is prepared for its residents.

My Mother-in-law Roz entered sonata Boca Raton one year ago. She has an advanced case of dementia and was put into the memory care unit. My mother-in-law has improved since arriving at the memory care unit in Sonata. I believe it is because of the wonderful care she is receiving there. David, one of her caretakers treats her like it was it his own mother. David has encouraged my mothers joy and talent for singing playing the piano, & daily exercise. Sonata has brought out the best in my mom. She appears very happy every time I see or speak to her. They’ve gone over and above during this pandemic to make sure that I stay connected to her with weekly weekly Skype calls. And I am able to reach them at any time I need to with any concerns I have and called back in a timely manner. Sonata has exceeded my expectations and I recommend them highly.
June 2020
When working with the Senior community our focus always is to provide a standard of excellence to our clients. Attention to detail is key. That is why working with Sonata Boca Raton is always a pleasure, as they always go above and beyond. The staff is friendly and welcoming and Shari is awesome!
June 2020
I cannot say enough fabulous things about the care of my mom is receiving at Sonata Boca Raton. She began in the assisted-living side, but has now moved to memory care. And, I feel that she is in fabulous hands and that they are taking unbelievable care of her. Especially at this time of COVID-19, I am completely confident in the care at Sonata. I really think she’s in the best shape out of all of us: she has three meals a day, they take care of her daily needs, she has entertainment and activities, doctors and nurses who check on her constantly, and she’s been proactively tested for Covid twice (negative). Sonata sends periodic updates on the actions that facility is taking against the virus. They even set up video call visits and window visits for us to see her. I really feel blessed that we found Sonata and chose this place for our mom.

Place looks nice and it is a good setup, food is good, they keep it clean, but... -Cost rose steeply after move in. -They keep changing managers so hard to get stuff done as new manager never knows what the old one did. -Seems that after move, they might care more about making money than my mom. -Seem to throw too many care problems back at relatives
