I cannot say enough great things about Keystone Place.. Sharon was a godsend and walked me through every step of the transition.. There were many highs and Lowe’s before we got there. And she was very instrumental with both of our well-being. Never pushy, but always checking in at the right times. I cannot say enough about the staff at Keystone Place. Everybody is so welcoming and so nice. I don’t think I would’ve ever made it without their guidance and I am so thankful.

My grandmother moved here several years ago after living independently after my grandfather died. She was at first reluctant to moving to a community like this, but since then she has really got her spark back. Having her at this community has provided the family with reassurance that she will always have safety and someone watching over her when we cannot be there and she loves all of the activities, the friends and the staff 🙂

We are very pleased, satisfied and comfortable with the staff and accommodations that the Keystone has provided for our dad. Our questions and concerns with the process of moving our parent to an assisted living facility have been dealt with both professionally and personally by Allen, Sharon and the staff, providing follow through and ease with his move. More importantly our dad has always been treated with dignity, concern and kindness. He has definitely benefitted from the socialization, restaurant style dining and oversight provided daily. Organized social activities for holidays and special occasions are extended to family further making the experience homelike. The biggest compliment to his new home is how comfortable he feels there.

Keystone at Newberry Brook is very fine senior residence. Through the care given my loved one we experienced both independent living and assisted living. We always found all levels of the staff to be responsive, professional and helpful. They all soon become friends and then family. The Decor is lovely and very clean. Atmosphere warm and pleasant. Activities many, varied and fun. All in all I highly recommend Keystone.

The staff is efficient, caring and compassionate to the residents as well as their families. It has the look and amenities of a five-star hotel, giving lots of entertainment options and providing excellent meal choices. Words cannot describe how delighted we are to have our mother here. This facility is akin to a new condo and is beautiful in every sense of the word. The staff and residents are incredibly nice; I have spoken to many of them, and they all have nothing but positive remarks. From the moment we entered, it felt like home. Sharron and Allen have welcomed us as family. We were confident that this was the ideal place for our mother. The residents exude friendliness and joy. This facility can best be described as resembling a cruise ship, where every detail is attended to, and a warm welcome is extended. The premises are pristine, maintained by two dedicated maintenance staff who ensure the entire facility remains in excellent condition. The cleanliness and upkeep are exceptional. I cannot express enough positive sentiments about this place; it is truly something one must experience to fully appreciate. Our mom is very happy here. We love visiting her and it warms our hearts to see her in such a great place with wonderful people.

I spent months making appointments and visiting over 9 senior homes/assisted living homes in CT. Some of what I saw on my visits -( that were appointments made days or weeks ahead) was unacceptable and very disappointing. At a last minute decision I showed up unannounced to Keystone. Arriving on the grounds I was really impressed. It was March it was cold dreary rainy out and yet the grounds were impeccable. They were welcoming and bright. Everything was clean and neatly arranged. Walking in I was immediately greeted in a true friendly way not just a forced hello. I asked if I could speak to someone about the place and care as well as set up an appointment to tour the home. Instead I was greeted by Sharon Castaldo the Senior Living Counselor. She was warm, friendly and immediately invited me to her office to talk. Without any notice or appointment she took the time to share with me information about Keystone, who they were, what they provide and most importantly she shared with me their goal for each resident who lived there. I was given a tour and was so impressed! The staff they know every resident by name and the residents know the staff! That was to me a huge indication that the staff really cares and residents feel comfortable and safe with the staff . No where else that I went did residents truly know the staff and interact with them as friends, like they do at Keystone. People treat each other with respect and kindness at Keystone. Sharon shared with me that in my situation (which was not going to be easy moving my mom to a new living environment in a new state all with in a time period where her dementia was suddenly affecting her quality of life so much ) it was very important to make sure not only that I was confident in my decision in choosing Keystone but that the staff at Keystone be confident that they can provide the best care that’s right for my mom. So we began the steps in getting my mom to Keystone. Sharon, Allen (the Director of Keystone) the staff included all made me feel supported as I made this delicate and difficult decision to move my mom from her home. The support I received was overwhelming! Keystone places residents care first. Every staff member does their job and does it well. The care of residents from their apartment housekeeping, laundry, assistance with getting to meals or activities, being involved in programs, activities or special events, staff make sure every one is getting everything they need and do all they can to make every resident have a great experience, a wonderful day and feel special! It’s truly amazing! Keystone maintenance team Ken & Mark go above and beyond keeping every inch of the building and grounds in pristine condition! They work hard always smiling and residents love them! The staff works so well together providing a smooth transition for residents moving in. Everyone checks in looking to see how can they help to make residents feel safe, comfortable and welcomed. They take time to find out who the resident is, what they enjoy, where they are from and assist in introducing residents to each other. The food- the chef and kitchen staff truly do an outstanding job with the menu which changes daily along with the ala cart menu. The food is excellent it’s like being at your favorite restaurant with great wait staff who know every resident and their favorite drinks and foods. If you have ever been on a great cruise where on the 2nd/3rd meal you arrive to find your waiter has already greeted you with your favorite drink on the table waiting for you - well at Keystone you receive the same treatment. There was no other senior home I toured who came close to the food at Keystone. The activities which Sue does such a great job organizing and getting residents who may be hesitant or shy to join in, Sue and staff always manage to get that resident involved and help them feel supported. I really can’t say enough about Keystone! My mom feels safe and really loves living there! That says it all!

Keystone Place provided excellent care for my mother. The staff was professional as well as kind and caring. When we began our search for an assisted living community we found that out of all the communities we had looked at the staff was our number one concern. The Keystone facility is clean and provides a sense of comfort, the professionalism of the general staff is excellent and the nursing staff is probably the best we have ever had for my mother. The care and compassion the nurses show and provide is beyond exemplary. To anyone who is looking for an elder care facility that will take care of your family member as if they were their own, Keystone Place is number one.

The team and facility at Keystone Place provide an environment and level of care unmatched in northwest Connecticut. Like most families, I suspect, we were very concerned about whether my mother would ever agree to a move to assisted living. With the help of the Keystone Place advisors, the transition progressed smoothly. And now, after 6 months there, my mother is happier and safer in her new home. The facility is maintained in impeccable condition. And while most organizations struggle to find and retain good help, somehow Keystone Place has developed a roster of well-trained and truly caring individuals. We are extremely grateful for the care that my mother is receiving.

My father moved into the memory care just about three years ago and I could not be happier about my decision to move him there. Allen, Tracy and all the caregivers in Applewood have been amazing. They loved and cared for my father. They all knew how to support my father as his dementia progressed. They communicated effectively and regularly. When my father had to enter hospice I was not sure how it would work with Keystone but they contract with Accent Care Hospice and this company made the end of my fathers life as comfortable as possible. They also communicated with me regularly. When my father passed away, his caregivers cried and hugged my sister and me. We felt like we had so much support. I highly recommend this community.

We were very pleased from the first contact with Allen through the orientation, tour process and the subsequent acceptance and move-in of our 89 yo mother two months ago. The cleanliness, attention to detail and the bright, airy apartment has brought much joy to our mother. Her spirits have brightened and she has made many friends in her short time there. She always had the support of children and grandchildren but for a woman who is very sociable, the lack of interaction with her peer group was a huge void. Now after an early dinner, she and her friends sit and chat and most importantly laugh a lot! Laughter is the best medicine and certainly all of us could benefit from that in these trying times. Thanks to Allen and his wonderful staff, Mom is enjoying life and her children and grandchildren are most grateful!

The decision to move Mom from her home of 50+ years was one of, if not the most difficult discussion we ever had to have as a family. There were numerous factors to consider, especially her transition to new surroundings and an entirely different environment. I spoke to a number of retirement communities in the area, most of which felt impersonal. When I heard about Keystone through my Mom's trusted pharmacist, I called and spoke to Allen Miloff. Immediately, the conversation was vastly different than all the others. Allen took the time to understand our situation and it was clear that he knew the challenges for both me and Mom - we each had our own. He reassured me that "all will be ok". After the tour of the facility, I knew where Mom would spend the next chapter of her life. As Mom made the move to her new home, the staff immediately recognized her apprehension and gathered as a team to provide that extra level of TLC to ease her into the family. Thanks to Allen, Mary, Maureen and countless others including the caretakers, we could not be more grateful that Mom is safe, well cared for and enjoying the many activities Keystone has to offer - Wii bowling and bingo at the top of her list!

I helped my friend move to Keystone from a retirement home in Massachusetts in October 2020. Although the transition for him was difficult, the staff at Keystone were wonderful working with him to figure out what he needed and how to make him feel at home. Now, five months later, he's entirely at home and the assisted living support gives him what he needs to live a safe, comfortable, and peaceful life. The staff have been universally responsive and helpful. And the facilities are all you could hope for.

It’s been 2 years since my beloved grandmother moved into Keystone Place at Newburyport Brook (as of Sept. 2020). It was a tough decision to leave her condo after 20+ years but she was welcomed into the Keystone family from the moment we stepped through the door for a tour and information session. The Staff was warm, informative and overall wonderful. It took my grandma about 2 days to think about it and realize that this was the best option - and then to become excited about it. Within 4 weeks, she was moving into her new apartment with enthusiasm! Over the last two years, much to our family’s joy, nothing has changed. The staff remains friendly and treats her like one of their own. They know us (family) by name when we visit and have created an environment for their residents that affords them the ability to just LIVE and enjoy it. It’s a true community. It’s safe. It’s joyful. It’s exactly what my grandmother and her family need. I cannot recommend Keystone Place enough. We have been and will be eternally grateful for all they afforded our family!

Making the decision to remove my Mom from her longtime home was an extremely difficult one. The staff at Keystone could not have made the transition any easier. Their compassion, guidance and kindness went well beyond my expections. I am continually impressed by the staff's genuineness, the beautiful facility, creative events and the good food! It is not about the dollars/cents like you'd expect from most senior facilities... it's about caring for others like family. My family’s experience at Keystone Place was nothing short of excellent. From the very start KP was always transparent with their expectations to the residents , as well as the residents to KP. From Sr. Management to the Housecleaning staff, they were professional, affable, courteous and made you feel at home. Upon entry to the front desk you are met with a warm smile & hello. They answer any questions you might have & should they not have an answer will find out for you. Management’s (Peter Francis & Allen Miloff) accessibility was unmatched should you have an inquiry you want addressed. Unfortunately my dad’s tenure was short (he LOVED KP) due to an illness, but the staff showed unbelievable care, patience (there were 10 siblings to deal with) & empathy in my dad’s day assuring his comfort. A special nod to Mary Casey & her nursing staff for their daily care of my dad. I cannot put into words my family’s appreciation for their professionalism & empathy for our dad. In a nutshell, Keystone Place should be looked at as a standard bearer for Assisted Living systems.

The atmosphere is consistently warm, friendly, family-centered, and professional. The administrators, nurses, care managers (CNAs), and maintenance staff are uniformly well-trained, experienced, and personally committed to the individual needs of the residents. The recreational activities and transportation management are excellent. Keystone has just completed its first year in operation, and maintains a fresh, upbeat environment for residents and visitors. The quality and variety of food choices is outstanding, and its presentation is efficient and cheerful.
