Meadow Ridge – Reviews
February 2023
We had a wonderful experience at the rehabilitation wing (Cedar Cove) at Meadow Ridge when my father was there for 1 1/2 weeks recovering from a hospital stay. The staff was excellent—friendly, knowledgeable, compassionate, and patient. In my opinion, several staff members went above and beyond to make my father’s stay as comfortable as possible. Staff member Maria was very calm, respectful, and reassuring when bathing and shaving my father. The dining staff was also a pleasure to work with, accommodating our family with a smile when we requested extra silverware, etc. (one evening, even a linen tablecloth on the table we gathered around in the tv lounge!). My father enjoyed the food very much—top-rated menus…the seafood, braised mushrooms, butternut squash soup, and daily milkshakes were among his favorites. Meadow Ridge and the entire staff should be commended for a job well done—many thanks for a great experience.

Meadow Ridge has been a lovely, comfortable home for my grandmother for many years. As far as I can tell they take good care of the residents, have plenty of fun events and offer good dining options. It's always a pleasure visiting.

If you have to leave your loved one in the care of others, this is the kind of place you want. The staff is wonderful - kind, caring, attentive and competent. The facilities are attractive, clean and well kept. Truly excellent.

We just moved my parents in last Tuesday. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. My only complaint about the whole thing was the fact that my parents couldn’t eat in the dining room for the entire first week of being there. As new residents, in a new environment, and not knowing anyone, they (and all new residents) should automatically be included in the dining room reservations for the first few days or first week. Meeting people and feeling a part of the community are paramount to a positive transition to a new living situation.

Went away for Easter - and no worries about unexpected house problems or mail accumulation. Returned to good friends who really wanted to know how my trip was!

My wife and I moved here a year ago. Best decision weve made. This is truly best in class. Staff is absolutely great. The food, the gorgeous salt water pool, the peaceful refuge of the Atrium, the croquet court, the theater, the numerous activities, the location in the fresh air hills of Redding (we feel like were in Vermont!) ... and the residents as well ... all combine to make Meadow Ridge absolutely the best possible choice for us.

The most significant thing about Meadow Ridge is the quality of the staff and the standard and friendlness of the residents. Most people here wear a badge with their name every day, and greet each other by name, with a smile. Everyone is cordial and willing to stop and chat. The facilities are absolutely first class, the food is very good, and the schedule of activities is all inclusive. But the people here are what makes the difference.

I came to Meadow Ridge for Independent Living over 11 years ago and have enjoyed it thoroughly for all these years. The residents are very welcoming - I knew no one when I came. The staff is so friendly and helpful. There are numerous activities - internal movies, speakers, and performers as well as trips outside to museums, concerts, sports happens, and local live theater productions. This past December & January I was in Ridge Crest, our on-side rehab facility. For the 2 months I was there I enjoyed great care, good food (3 delicious meals a day), and excellent physical therapy. My laundry was done daily and my room was dusted and vacuumed daily as well. I felt so spoiled by the attention from aides, CNA's, and RN's that it was hard to leave when I was well enough to return to my apartment. I received help in my apartment from Western CT, Home Health, from aides from Bridge Star Agency, and PT Therapists from Ridge Crest for the few weeks that I needed help. It is certainly wonderful to live in a place where such care is available on premises and where friends can easily visit. Ridge Crest felt like an extension of home - not a strange scary new place where there were no familiar faces. My decision to move to Meadow Ridge in 2007 was one of the best decisions of my life.

My wife and I came to Meadow Ridge in 2016. She was suffering from Alzheimers and eventually moved into the skilled nursing facility just a few minites walk away where she passed away in 2017. I know we should have come here at least a year earlier but I am so grateful we finally did. The care we experienced here was warm and professional. Living alone now in our beautiful apartment might have been lonely but I have never been so active - enrolled in social and volunteer committees - meeting singles and couples - Im so glad we chose Meadow Ridge for our permanent home. Meadow Ridge has worked well for me. I would have become a recluse if I had stayed in my house. Friends had moved sway or died,. While young neighbors were kind, it was not the same as being with people who have shared the same span of time, as is the case here. And, my children dont worry about me! Mary Anne Hyde

We moved here about 5 months ago and couldnt be more pleased. Our apartment is lovely and unbelievably quiet! The food is wonderful with 3 venues available daily. There is a large welcoming committee whose members invite new residents to dinner frequently. This is a great way to get acquainted and have questions answered in a relaxed atmosphere. The staff are the nicest people in the world and everyone is ready to do whatever they can to assist you. There are a lot of things to do and places to go. The hard part is choosing! Time flies when youre having fun!

I am a resident. Meadow Ridge is in a beautiful setting, has the best apartments of the many CCRCs I have visited, has a friendly and active corps of residents, good food, and an outstanding staff.

I have loved 7 years of living here and being spoiled. Also have been involved in committees and activities. But one reason I chose Meadow Ridge was because it had its own health center, Ridge Crest, right on the property. Then in May I needed hip-replacement surgery. After 3 days in the hospital, I was transferred seamlessly to Ridge Crest. I spent 3 weeks there with great caretakers and wonderful occupational and physical therapy 6 days a week. That left me in great shape to return to Independent Living, able to take care of myself and return to my former life. I am thankful every day that I chose to live in this great place.

Coming to Meadow Ridge, shortly after being widowed, was a great decision. After caretaking for several decades husband, children, grandchildren—its nice to be cared for by the super staff at Meadow Ridge. Blackjack, my black lab, and a member of the Welcoming Committee loves Meadow Ridge too. -Susan Auslander, Class of ‘17

I decided to move from Westport, CT. to Meadow Ridge 5+ years and and it was one of the best decisions that I ever made. It is beautiful, and wonderfully maintained. It is also a wonderful place to be very active and make friends.

I moved here at age 75 - a little earlier than most folks - and Im so glad I did! Amazing residents. Stimulating activities. A beautiful apartment and excellent meals in a choice of three dining venues. I dont have to worry about paying real estate taxes and electric bills, having my lawn mowed and driveway plowed, arranging entertainment. Its all part of the package. So grateful!

My mother has been a resident at Meadow Ridge now for a little over a year and I cant emphasize enough how wonderful it is for ME that she is there. Besides the obvious fact that she loves it, I can rest in the knowledge that if she needs it all the right support and services are there for her. After years of worry and even stepping up to manage a few near-emergency situations over the years, I now have stepped back and can just enjoy her company while she thrives and enjoys her life! And when one urgent health situation did arise last year, her new friends and the staff handled everything efficiently, compassionately and perfectly from beginning to end. All I had to do was be with her, and thats exactly as it should be. The fact that the apartments are large, the building and grounds are gorgeous, the food lovely and the people welcoming is all an extra bonus. Oh, and taking the whole family to the pool and Sunday brunch is fabulous too! Meadow Ridge is about everyone in the family living life to the fullest. As far as Im concerned, its always the right time to get a little more of that!

A very high end retirement community set in the middle of a vast green space. Good food. A enormous atrium with exotic plants and ample seating. A theatre. Plenty of places to walk. Tennis courts, a pool, exercise room, artist area. A wonderful place to retire.

Im a resident and couldnt be happier in these beautiful surroundings, with a myriad of interesting people, stimulating activities within Meadow Ridge and away-trips near and far (New York City among my favorite excursions), educational lectures, visiting musical artists, and on and on and on. Life and living do not stop here, they just become honed to perfection and satisfaction.

Whats a Whiffenpoof? A mythical fish-dragon that lives in the water; the acclaimed Yale a cappella chorus takes its name from the beast. How do I know? Just came from a concert of the Whiffenpoofs at Meadow Ridge where I heard familiar arrangements of songs like Ill Be Seeing You and new renditions of old standards like Nature Boy. Just one example of the superior entertainment that Meadow Ridge offers and that I enjoy so thoroughly.

My mother moved into Meadow Ridge almost two weeks ago and I spent the last week there, helping to get her settled. Meadow Ridge is not only beautiful and extremely well maintained, but everyone there is so friendly and helpful. The residents there have all made her feel so welcome and the staff is exceptional. Thanks to everyone for making this such a smooth and easy transition!!
