I met with John Richards, Co-Owner of First Light, the day my mom needed care and he had a wonderful caregiver at her home that very same evening. First Light's caregivers are extremely kind, hard working and filled with love. My mom had a fractured pelvis and needed a great deal of help and I knew from the first few moments of meeting her caregiver, Nana, that my mom was in good hands. She got my mom up and moving as soon as she was able and made sure she ate well, slept well, exercised, and also had a wonderful presence of strength and love. I owe my mom's recovery to her and the First Light team as they went above and beyond to make sure my mom was not only comfortable and well taken care of, but treated her with the love and concern that would best be described as family.

We were in a desperate situation of finding quality care for my mother-in-law when she came home from the hospital and took a fall on day one. This being our first experience with home care, we had many questions. The Owner John assisted us directly, and from our initial conversation, we knew we were working with an experienced professional. He worked quickly and efficiently to line up 24-hour care to relieve us from our worries. My mother-in-law felt comfortable with the caregivers and thankfully her health improved quickly. John and his team at First Light are top notch. The aides have the patience of saints and do a terrific job. Their schedulers are also the best. They are able to deal with and accommodate last minute requests and changes. They always follow-up and make sure you know who is coming and when. I highly recommend John and his team.

We had an unexpected short-term need for someone to help my mom, and FirstLight was highly recommended. I spoke with the owner, John, and he was very helpful in establishing a care plan that began the next day. My mom really enjoyed all the caregivers she encountered and this was a positive experience for something that can be very stressful. The hourly pricing was competitive and well worth the peace of mind that our loved one was safe and well cared for. I would recommend FirstLight and we will use them again in the future if the need arises.

John and Wenjun have such a remarkable company for elderly care. They have the best caregivers I have ever encountered. They cared so much about my dad and treated him as if they were his own family. John Richards and his staff at FirstLight Home Care deserve 5 Stars. Here's what happened over the past 5 days. My father is 91 and needs help living at home. His longtime live-in aid was taken to the hospital on a Thursday morning. I left work and rushed over arriving just as the ambulance was leaving. I started calling several home care agencies to find a temporary replacement ... and perhaps a longterm replacement given the uncertainty. Nearly all the home care agencies I called were thoughtful and nice. I'm sure most of them tried to help. The difference was John and his staff did more. They jumped into action. He came over that afternoon to help me think through what to do. The next day he came again with George, the temporary health care aid. George was respectful, organized and very understanding with my Dad. John also checked back. We talked on Friday, Saturday, and just a few minutes ago today on Sunday.

I have known the Director of Care Services at FirstLight Home care in Southbury for several years. She is he is an outstanding civic minded member in Southbury and neighboring communities. She is an outstanding parent and is actively involved in numerous cultural events in this same area. She brings all those personal skills to caregiving to her clients at FirstLight so they receive quality care.

After surgery I had First Light come to help me clean my condo and run some errands for me. She was on time, efficient and quick. I remember having to go for a medical treatment. Upon my return I walked through the door thinking WOW! the kitchen sparkles! She went grocery shopping for me and came back with the exact items I asked for. In looking for home health care options for my mom we had many choices. After interviewing a few companies I was the most impressed with FirstLight, they stood out. Ryan answered all my questions, put me at ease and gave me a good level of comfort. During the past month, Ryan was so good at taking our calls and following my mom's care along the way. From visiting nurses, visiting aides and finally bringing in hospice, him and John the owner took my phone calls, listened to my hurt and sadness during each stage of her sickness. It's a tough thing to live 2500 miles away and entrust a company and individual to care for a loved one. My mom was bed ridden with stage 4 metastatic cancer but still had her wits about her. Our Care giver Tanella was amazing, attentive and so loving with my mom. I can't say enough about her - it brings tears to my eyes to think of all the little things she did for my mom. Little things, big things and just being there. Tanella became part of our family which means a lot considering she only had the opportunity to care for my mom for about a month. Thank you FirstLight for being there, for always listening and for being flexible. I would highly recommend this company for private in home care.

Sara is one of the most detail oriented people I have ever worked with. She is truly a people person that thrives as she builds relationships between her clients and employees. I first met Sara Guillemette from FirstLight Homecare of Western Ct about 5 months ago at a networking meeting that she was the host of. I had recently opened On The Mend Medical Supplies & Equipment in Southbury and this was my first "networking" meeting. I remember thinking that day that she was incredibly well equipped in both networking and care details. Since then I have worked with her on several occasions and believe her passion for this business and her attention to detail make her a great choice for any caregiver need. Thank you to everyone at FirstLight who helped us out in our time of great need. Our great Aunt( w/ dementia) who was 95 had a three day unexpected hospital stay. You were able to have qualified aides be there within a few hours of knowing she was being admitted. The shifts were covered with her for the entire time, so our family could have peace knowing she was being well taken care of when we could not be with her. Ryan was personal, caring, professional and very understanding of our situation. He made sure the perfect matches were put into place. I would highly recommend FirstLight and would call them again should the need arise.
