Last year, I was tasked with getting my parents into an Assisted Living Facility, with not a lot of time. I did my research, I visited multiple places. We fell in love with Maplewood out of the gate. The staff, the residents and the well kept facility were what did it for us. It is so upbeat and active. Every day there are multiple activities to choose from. It is such a peace of mind to have found Maplewood. They offer such good care and kind people who love what they do. I highly recommend it!

My father in law passed away about a year ago, but I recently saw an article in the paper about this place, so I thought I'd share our experience. This place is great… my father really loved it here and all of the staff went above and beyond for him. Coming to visit, we always felt welcome, the facility was clean & never had that stereotypical "nursing home" smell. The aides were attentive and really got to know the residents as people. The activity staff was great & always welcomed us to join in on whatever fun was going on. The only downfall was that the executive director Laurie was mostly absent, but the rest of the directors really were top notch in her absence. I've heard she's since been replaced… good.

My mom is cared for with love and respect by all the staff at Maplewood. We could not hope for a better home for her. Any question or concern we have is addressed right away. We enjoy spending time in the pub for lunch or the family dining room for special occasions and we are welcomed with open arms!

There is nothing more difficult than finding a safe and caring place for your loved ones to live when they can no longer live alone. My parents toured a few different retired living options in our area, and selected Maplewood of Newtown at least a year before the move was necessary. While the transition was not easy, it was made easier by Maplewood admin and staff, who allowed a period of "respite" residence before any decision needed to be made to make the move permanent. The caring nature of the Maplewood environment, and the genuine warm welcome of the staff and residents, made a difficult time more manageable for my parents and also for us. My parents were quickly engaged in the many daily activities that Maplewood offered, and they found a new community of friends among the interesting variety of Maplewood residents. My father, a gardener by nature, established a Green Thumb Club within the first few weeks moving to Maplewood. Both parents took advantage of the exercise classes and mind stimulating clubs. Now, a few years later, although the aging process continues to take its toll, both of my parents still take comfort in the activities available to them, the friends that they have made, and the dependable and gentle nature of a truly caring staff. Our whole family is welcome to Maplewood to share meals, play dominos, watching movies and attend music events. We are there a few times every week. And visiting my parents, knowing that they are in good hands for daily care, has changed our role from "problem solving caretakers" to supportive children in this special chapter of their lives. And for this - we can't be more grateful.

The staff is wonderful, and they have created a warm and friendly environment that has made my mother feel at home. The quality of care provided is exceptional, and we cannot thank you enough for the attention and care provided by every member of your staff. The food at your facility is beyond excellent, and it is like dining in a restaurant with the diversity of dishes that are provided. The attention to detail that your staff provide is remarkable, and we have not seen such quality of care anywhere else. From the receptionist to the maintenance staff, everyone is very attentive and friendly. I would like to take a moment to express my gratitude for the peace of mind we experienced while we were away on vacation last week. We knew that Mom was taken care of and in good hands, which made our vacation more enjoyable. We could not be more thankful for the exceptional service provided by your staff.

The facility is truly beautiful , and it's been designed with care and thoughtfulness to make residents feel comfortable and at ease. Since relocating to Maplewood, my father has found happiness and peace that he hadn't experienced before. It's a beautiful thing to see him thriving at his age. Recently, my mother-in-law has been struggling with dementia and has experienced the loss of her husband. As her condition worsens, we are looking at moving her to Maplewood, where her care will be a top priority. Maplewood is not only perfect for seniors who are active and independent, but it also provides assistance for those who may need it. The location, floor plan, and staff at Maplewood have all come together to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It truly feels like a home away from home.

After my husband passed away, my children did not want me to live alone and started looking for appropriate accommodations for me. They screened a number of places and showed me only the places they thought would be suitable for me. Included in their research was Maplewood At Newtown. After taking a look at Maplewood At Newtown, I was impressed but I wanted to see other options. That was a waste of my time because atmosphere here at Maplewood At Newtown was warm and welcoming both by the staff and residents. I've been here now for 3 years, and my decision has proven to be right, every day! One of the main reasons I chose MAN because of the proximity to my daughter's home. She has since moved to another location and suggested I move to another facility so I can be closer to her. But MAN is my home, and she can visit me here any time she wants! ..

This is a special place. The location, building and grounds are beautiful, quiet, and comfortable. The facility is beautiful, the apartments are very nice, the many activities and environment provide for a comfortable and pleasant living experience. The staff is competent and friendly. What sets them apart in our opinion is their attitude. While other facilities we visited explained why certain issues or services could not be handled easily, Maplewood explained what they do to help handle them. Every staff person we have encountered has demonstrated this positive attitude. Our experience after moving in confirms that they specialize in making life there easy, safe, pleasant, and comfortable. We could not be happier with our choice.

"Our parents, ages 89 and 94, moved into Maplewood at Newtown a year ago. Although it was initially an up and down journey for them to select a community, make a commitment to actually move, eventually sell their home, and navigate an independent living lifestyle -- they are now one year into their transition with absolutely no regrets. Maplewood at Newtown is a lovely facility with sincere, caring staff and plenty of activities. The staff is thoughtful and eager to accommodate their personal preferences to reflect their interests and habits. One example has been that our father was able to be a central contributor to the outdoor garden and there is now a "Green Thumb Club" which has been a lifesaver for him and also a great community-builder. They have met so many friends among both the residents and staff --and really are part of a community. There is always activity and others to be with right outside their door. Above all else, we, their children, are pleased they are able to age in place as independently as possible among staff, readily available, who are able to provide front-line response to any of their needs. I do not think there is a better place than Maplewood at Newtown for anyone and so grateful that we found it and to everyone who works there"'.

My knowledge of Maplewood at Newtown has derived from what I have seen for the last 7 years and from stories. Maplewood at Newtown has made great efforts to keep the environment updated and comfortable. It is a bright clean facility that to our families account is nicer than a 4 star hotel, the only thing missing is a pool! There is an outdoor garden for gardeners, a movie theatre, a small store to buy any needed sundries, a pub, and a lovely courtyard with colorful plantings. To my recollection, within the past 7 years the carpet has been switched out twice. The wallpapering and painting redone once, and the artwork moved and changed to create a new, interesting space. The HVAC has been updated.Maplewood at Newtown staff has worked hard to keep everyone happy. Offering meetings for residents to hear requests on anything from food to trips to activities. The staff has worked to create a friendly environment in the dining room by taking seating requests - switching out table sizes to accomodate those requests and honoring birthdays with flowers and balloons. Food choices can be made from the daily menu of locally sourced foods to almost anything a resident could dream up off menu, including special dietary needs being accomodated. Activities are numerous. The best part of Maplewood at Newtown is the staff. The most caring and accomodating staff you can find is at Maplewood at Newtown. Every nurse has for the last seven years has been kind, communicative and skilled.

I cannot say enough about Maplewood at Newtown staff for their outstanding precautions and care given to my mother during this pandemic. My mother along with my father ( who passed away three years ago) has been a resident for nearly five years. During this difficult time they have gone up and beyond to make sure that our family and myself ( who lives in New York City) knows that she is safe and well taken care of.The biggest compliment to the staff is to watch Jimmy Kimmel and Adam Levin honoring wellness nurse Samatha Brown - for everything she, her team and co-workers are doing for all the residents. That says it all.My mother is an independent, social, and active 94 year old that enjoys all the activities that are offered.I highly recommend Maplewood at Newtown.

We have felt that the best interests of the residents, families, and staff members have been foremost in making difficult decisions. Staff in place have stepped up to fill the absences of staff that are out due to illness or personal reasons. We can see them going above and beyond, working long hours, and performing a variety of duties to keep the ship afloat. They do all that they do with a smile and compassionate understanding. They should be highly commended for their hard work and commitment.The front desk, has been a stabilizing force for everyone who enters and exits the building, keeping a positive attitude, and answering the phones in a pleasant manner. Staff members from activities who also assume front desk duties do the same. Managements openness and willingness to listen to families concerns, worries, and frustrations is appreciated.

From the time that my parents moved into Maplewood, the staff that have cared for them, in general, have been caring and capable. My family has been very comfortable with the decision that we helped my father to make in choosing the facility. We were and continue to be very concerned about our parents during this pandemic. From what I understand, Maplewood is taking all of the proper precautions to try to keep its residents safe. The screening of employees entering work each day is critical and I hope that this will continue for the indefinite future as it does not appear that covid will be going away any time soon. I am equally pleased that residents temperatures are taken daily and that my parents and other were tested for covid when there was the potential that they were exposed. As you know, I was an early advocate of all employees wearing masks and gloves when around my parents and I hope that they will continue to do so throughout the facility. As careful as employees are and as thorough as the daily screening processes are, there is no guaranty that someone entering the facility is not asymptomatic and so I truly hope that these precautions will remain in place. While I miss seeing my parents, I am thankful that family members are not allowed to visit for the time being. And that any residents testing positive are immediately isolated. I am comfortable from everything that you have told me and that I have read in your newsletters and heard from my father, that those of you running Maplewood are doing everything in your power to keep the residents safe. In conclusion, I want to give my sincere and heartfelt thanks to each and everyone of the Maplewood staff that comes to work everyday to take care of the residents. It is a wonderful place.

Id like to take a few moments to express my gratitude to the leadership and staff at Maplewood at Newtown. Throughout these challenging times, they have been caring, consistent, and communicative.I know that I will leave out individual staff members who have been influential in my parents experience, so I think I will just speak in general terms. The nursing staff has been wonderful and caring. There have been times when Mom and Dad were impatient when their requests for visits were not answered promptly. I always tried to encourage them to be patient and call again, if necessary. Im sure there are so many critical needs that need to be dealt with, and triaging decisions are not always clear to the patients. But, in terms of the care they ultimately received, Mom and Dad have always been satisfied. The staff has always been responsive and professional in communications with me. The dining hall staff has been as attentive as possible. Mom and Dad always comment on how the waitstaff must move so quickly to accommodate all of the diners - I cant imagine the amount of patience that must be needed to deal with all of those hungry seniors! The aides who help my parents seem like family members. When someone has popped in while I was visiting, the conversations were friendly and personal, demonstrating a special level of care. I recall my dad asking one aide if she would be coming back to help him to bed that night, and she assured him that yes, she would. He appreciated the care that person delivered. I fear that this lockdown might be putting a crimp in consistency like that, but I havent heard any complaints. The folks in maintenance perform their jobs with competence and compassion. From assisting during move-in, to helping Mom and Dad to put up pictures, to helping them with apartment issues, they are always responsive. At one point, the apartment was stiflingly hot, despite the proper settings on the thermostat, and Hector stopped in frequently until the problem was solved. While Ive always admired the organizational work of administration, the work done during the pandemic has been exceptional. Roughly weekly updates, honest communication of the situation, on-the-fly adjustment of facility procedures to keep residents and staff as safe as possible, are some of the things that are visible to the outside world - Im certain there are many more activities that go on that are less visible but equally important. I think I had better end here, despite my suspicion that I have left out some important points. I am so grateful that Mom and Dad landed at Maplewood. Thank you, everyone, for the work that you continue to do during this very challenging time.

Last year in February 2019 we had a virus infect our residence. I have been very impressed with how Maplewood has been treating my mother-in-law. We enjoy the email feedback from Maplewood that comes regularly, and we enjoy all the ideas that you have all come up with to help the residents feel loved.We have been visiting her by her window. It is nice that she is on the ground floor. We always stand 10 feet away. She does not remember how to call us, but she does remember how to pick up the phone. I've been taking my Brain & Body Balance Fitness program to Maplewood at Newtown once a month since January and I am so impressed with staff, facility, and residents! It's like walking into a spa resort, and everyone is smiling. There are multiple lounges and common areas, the dining areas are lovely (and I'm told by one of the gentleman that they get to order anything they want), there is a chic salon, a beautiful outdoor area (which we will be using when the weather is consistently lovely) and lots of other amenities and programs. Currently there is a five (or six?) week series called "Art of Changing the Brain: Healthy Brain & Power of Choice" with Dr. Kristen Betts happening. Brain function is my jam, so I've been over as a guest to listen to Dr. Betts work (it's wonderful) and there are 50+ residents attending and participating with vigor. Probably most importantly, are the staff. They are kind. It's not an act, nobody is on their best behavior when I'm there, this staff is, as far as I can see, full of very warm humans who really care about not only the residents but each other. It's such a positive environment. A final note, which as someone who both provides programs for seniors and has seen several of my senior family members through their later years: there is no smell. Neither antiseptic, nor flowery and fake, nor human. The only thing I've ever smelled is delicious food at lunch time. Maplewood at Newtown is just a nice place to be.

I am a resident of Maplewood at Newtown for the past six months and so pleased I made the choice to be here. Before moving here, I had to dispose of my home and being 89years old, it was not an easy time. I was quite apprehensive of what the Senior Living experience would be and found out very soon, I had become a member of caring and loving family.Within a day or two, I was greeted by first name by everyone and introduced to my table mates. We have become friends and enjoy conversations about everything. We are served delicious, healthy and local food with several choices at each meal and the table is beautifully set with crisp tablecloth, napkins and glassware.The activities are so varied and stimulating and you can be as busy as you want to be. The Library has an amazing amount of books of all kinds of interests- so well stocked. The Fitness Center is well used.There is a Wellness Center with licensed professionals and nurses available for 24 hours a day to take care of the needs of all.The grounds are beautiful and so natural with gardens and birds everywhere. Courtyards and patios are so inviting and popular with all.I am especially happy with the ability to have my car here to come and go as I please and above all, the security and safety we have. Peace of mind is so important.I have mentioned just a few of the many things I love about Maplewood. There is so much more. I also want to say my husband is a patient at Maplewood of Bethel, a mile away from me. He has dementia and is receiving the best care from the nurses and professionals I could no longer give. This care eases my mind so much and is another reason I give Maplewood 5 stars! Caryl Lucchesi
