Balfour is so very welcoming. When I arrived with a mountain of boxes to unpack, I was greeted with a basket of flowers, a go-bag with household supplies and a Concierge with menu in hand so he could bring me a hot meal for dinner. The residents are so friendly and the activities so numerous, it took no time at all to make new friends. The food is excellentI’d rather eat here than go to a restaurant. I didn’t expect being this happy. I love being at Balfour.

We are a married couple who moved to Balfour Louisville Independent Living one year ago. We first toured 5 months before moving in. We took our time and reviewed all of the various aspects including cost, amenities, food, and a wide variety of apartment sizes. However by far and away our decision to move to Balfour Senior Living has been the residents we have met. Balfour has a reputation of being a warm and inviting place. Our first year has proven over and over the truth of that statement. No other place in our search came anywhere near to Balfour. This is due to two primary factors: all of the staff, without exception, reaches out with warmth and care, and residents are made to feel at home in a truly genuine fashion. My husband and I moved to Balfour in 2018. We enjoyed it together, and I’ve found the community supportive since his death last year. Life Enrichment provides a generous agenda of activities, including physical fitness, outings, games, musical offerings, art classes and opportunities for learning. I’ve found good friends, people who are interesting and very much still involved in life. I have always cared about the environment, so I initially worked on recycling here at Balfour, but thanks to other interested residents, we’ve formed a Sustainability Committee to work with management on water and energy conservation, reducing single-use plastics and whatever issues arise. My experiences here have definitely merited a gold star.

Two years ago I scheduled visits to five senior independent living facilities in north metro Denver with my daughters. After visiting Balfour Louisville, they said, "Why would you look any further?" I didn't, and I couldn't be happier. Apartments and amenities that include meals, activities and many services are excellent. And residents have a strong sense of community. But if only one thing could keep me here, it's the staff. These mostly long-term employees are skilled, responsive, friendly and fun, clearly dedicated to residents' quality of life.

We have been caring for my mom with memory issues at home for the last 18 months. She stayed at Balfour in Louisville for two weeks for respite care while we went on a hiking trip in the mountains. She was apprehensive about going to "a home"...but after 1 day there she loved it. When we picked her up she said it was "lovely" , great people both the staff and other residents . She said she had lots to do every day. The clencher for us was , she said I like living with you while I can, but when it's time, that is where I want to go live. I cannot reccomend this place enough. They tend to every need and keep the patient center in all of their decisions. They're very welcoming to families and arrange special days for families to spend quality time with their loved ones. The happy hours are some of my best memories with my Dad. The music is soothing l, and it's a fun time for residents to relax and enjoy themselves. They work hard to develop activities to engage the residents and to make Balfour truly "home." For more mobile residents, they have special outings, too. The nurses and staff are truly loving and kind. You can see they truly love the residents. After coming here for a while, it's like a second home to me. You're always welcomed and valued. I feel comfortable knowing my dad is well cared for and safe. He speaks well about his treatment and feels safe. While we wanted to keep him at home, we had to make the decision to find him care to ensure his safety. We would choose Balfour again and again. They make end of life care a little brighter considering the circumstances. They're in the business of the elderly and they are knocking if out of the park. Choose Balfour. You won't regret it.

Our family member has been in the Balfour Louisville memory care for several months. It was a tough transition for him coming from living at home to a facility, but necessary after a fall and fracture with surgical repair that significantly exacerbated his medical condition. The Boardwalk staff have largely been very patient and kind with him as he learns the routine, and he has been eating and sleeping better with the varied menu and consistent reminders of what he should be doing and when. We are grateful that he’s in a clean, caring community like Balfour, making what is an awful diagnosis more bearable for him and for us. My husband has been a resident at Balfour in Louisville for several months. He began in skilled nursing where he received excellent care. This was a very difficult time for us, however the knowledgeable and caring staff did its utmost to ensure that my husband was comfortable and thriving. He is now doing quite well in assisted living. We are so grateful knowing he is in a safe environment where expert help is available. The activities are varied to cover a wide range of interests. I join in for the outstanding Active Minds lecture series as well as the twice weekly happy hours which include entertainment by talented musicians. Balfour’s ambience is warm and inviting. We are always called by name and have become acquainted with many of the residents and staff. Our nephew visited from out of town and said Balfour is like a nice hotel!

We had a tour of Balfour Louisville and it is an absolutely beautiful residence!! The staff are wonderful and are always smiling, the residents are happy and say hello. The public areas are welcoming and full of people chatting and having coffee and reading newspapers. We enjoyed listening to one of the residents playing piano for everyone gathered around. There’s a pool and exercise room and the grounds are breathtaking with the most beautiful flowers and water features. Beyond the beautiful setting what makes it special is the outstanding staff. McKenna, Sales Director went above and beyond in helping us find the perfect apartment for our family member. Besides being a highly educated and qualified healthcare professional, she really cares about the residents and their families working day-and-night to connect with everyone and making sure all needs are addressed. When there was an issue with an HVAC system she brought Marcus and Thomas into the fold the day before move-in. They worked relentlessly not only fixing the issue but did more! Marcus hung paintings, moved furniture, and replaced a temperature gauge so that the unit was in optimal condition for our family member. My sister and I cannot say enough good things about the care that Balfour has provided to our parents. We had toured the place previously with our parents but, at the time, our parents had not made the decision to move into assisted living. We found ourselves in an emergency situation where it became clear the situation had reached a point of crisis “ our father was in the hospital and, with my mother progressing with dementia, it was clear that they would not be able to return to their home. We contacted Balfour and the team mobilized immediately to accept our parents into the skilled nursing facility within 72 hours “ my father was transported by ambulance “ and the team at Balfour made arrangements to accommodate having our mother stay in the same room. We arrived from the hospital and we were met at the door, with everything ready to take them in. From there, Balfour worked expeditiously to have a room ready for their transfer in two weeks into the assisted living facility once my father had recovered sufficiently to leave the skilled nursing facility. Since then, Balfour has worked with us every step of the way to get our parents into the best possible living arrangement. It’s not an understatement to say that we have no idea what we would have done had Balfour not gone to the lengths they did to take in our parents on a moment’s notice. The care is unparalleled, the team is compassionate and we feel an enormous sense of relief knowing that our parents are safe and cared for in such a compassionate way.

Thank you, staff and management of Balfour for the beautiful Lady of Guadalupe dance today. It was exciting to have this cultural event on site. The dancers included Balfour staff and community dancers. The dresses, head pieces, drumming and dancing were lovely. I was touched when dancers thanked residents for "welcoming us to your home". Residents beamed and nodded, as they were hosting these talented dancers. One suggestion to Balfour management and organizers: next year, please have a short written explanation of the dance, symbols, etc. to give residents more background on this tradition. After the dance, residents gathered to discuss the event and reminisce about other cultures they encountered during past adventures. Thank you for planning this lovely event. I hope it becomes an annual event.

The staff is great - very helpful, almost always greeting me by name. The food needs improvement. Salmon and vegetables are sometimes over-done. Some healthier options like brown rice would be great. The WiFI is awful in assisted living - doesn't support WiFi calling reliably and my expensive new TV doesn't stream anything. The WiFi equipment is totally obsolete.`For what residents pay to stay here, this should have been fixed years ago! (A fix is promised sometime after January 1. We'll see!)

The Lodge at Balfour has been a lifesaver for us. They opened up their arms to us as we searched for accommodations that would work for us after the Marshall fire. My husband is confined to a wheel chair and the Independent Living at the Lodge works! He is happy here, I can take care of him here and best of all, there is so much to do and so many friendly and helpful staff and residents that we have been able to maintain a positive outlook inspire of all we lost in the fire. Everything from water aerobics classes to wonderful meals are outstanding. We don't have anything to criticize because if an issue comes up, all we have to do is mention t and it is resolved immediately. You may find gourmet food and lovely amenities in other senior communities, but there is one thing you will not find anywhere except at Balfour Independent Living. We have a transportation system that makes it very easy to stop driving the one thing that most people in our demographics put off as long as we can. Balfour has a team of drivers and a fleet of cars and vans so that between eight in the morning and four in the afternoon, Monday through Friday, you not only can be taken to doctors appointments and the grocery store, you can go wherever you want to go within range. Add that to a very loving, caring staff and residents who look out for each other and become family. You can choose to be alone, or you can choose to be with others, and you will never want for something fun and/or educational to do. Having lived here for almost 5 years, I can say, I always look forward to coming home to Balfour.--
