Great place to work and a great place to visit. I worked here for about a year and had to leave unfortunately. The residents are all great and I miss every single one of them. Staff, I can't explain how amazing these people are, all great and very much there for the residents. Even the private care that go in for one on one for some of the residents amazing people! I miss you all and wish I could still be there . Drew the executive director went out of her way when one of my family members had passed away. Hope, truly a special person with a great heart. She was there for the residents and staff. Lilly and Alex always going out of their way to do more for the residents and staff. The cooks are all great! The food was always good! The nurses are also so amazing and it was with great pleasure to work with you all. If you're looking for a place to call home for your loved ones with dementia this place is it, they really do so much for the residents and they are very well taken care of and happy. The amount of activities they do keep the residents busy, the life enrichment department does a FABULOUS job at coming up with new things to do and outings for the residents. Overall this place was one of the best places I had ever worked and I've worked at various assisted livings , this place is truly one of a kind .!

My mom has been at Balfour for over a year now. In the time she's been there she's been more engaged, has more sass and seems genuinely happy. The facility is well kept, I get regular updates about my mom and residents appear clean, loved and valued. I feel heard and respected as well. Overall, my mom is healthy, happy and safe at Balfour. When I visit the residents are spoke to like family and hugs are provided when they need a little extra love. I really look forward to visiting my mom because then I can also interact with the other residents which is so fun because they can tell you stories and make you laugh. Update: 12/7/2023 - I wanted to address to review by Ellie stating that the residents are abused and found out wandering. I'm there on a weekly basis and don't see this, not discounting that this was her experience, but it's not mine. The communication may not be what it once was and I seldom see the Executive Director out and about which is a bit disappointing but again I'm not there every day to see what she does, but I do find my mom is cared for, with frequent interactions and hugs from staff. There have been a few instances where I wish things were addressed differently but all in all I've never seen a resident get out of the building - in fact it's difficult for me to get in b/c someone has to use a key card to swipe me in before the door is unlocked. I think the key for me to is to check in regularly with staff. My one big concern is the the use of agency staff as opposed to full time balfour care staff, but I know this is something they are working to address. Additionally, the food is absolutely phenomenal. Chef Alex is terrific. For example, Thanksgiving included prime rib, turkey and ham served along with great sides and many choices for dessert including cheesecake and a pumpkin flan. I genuinely look forward to all events that will occur with food that Alex and staff prepare. One day I went in and Alex had made macaroon cookies and I told him how much I loved them and they were my favorite cookie. A few minutes later her came back with a box, just for me with a handful of cookies. It really made my day! I will continually add to this review as long as my mom is a resident but one piece of advice I'd offer is that if you're looking for care for a loved one, always do your due diligence and find a place you're comfortable with. Not every place will meet your expectations and there's always room for improvement in just about every setting we walk into, including a restaurant or a government agency. Your job is to help ensure the safety and quality of life your family member will receive and this means holding the staff accountable every step of the way where ever you choose to place your loved one.

Balfour at Cherrywood has really turned a corner after a lot of external challenges came their way. My mother was part of the first group to move into the new location at Cherrywood. That first year was about finding their feet in a new location which is beautiful and also has a unique layout for programming. The new Director is making moves with confidence to ensure it's a first rate facility, so leadership feels firmly in place. That Director's job should always be to create the environment for the staff on the front line to do their work and treat each person under their care with kindness and respect. I found that to be true and the staff were consistently attentive and helpful. You can feel the workplace culture of a place if you pay attention and this one is healthy. We were fortunate that our mother Waldi's dementia did not take away her good cheer and are grateful it was fed by the daily smiles and genuine kindness of the staff. Thank you Balfour staff for helping her final chapter be a happy one.

They are very attentive and encourage residents to participate in activities, make sure they are well cared for- our mom is always dressed, they do her hair- the other day I came and she had beautiful braids. My wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease four years ago and has been participating in Balfour Cherrywood's day program for the past year. We have been pleased with the quality of the services provided from the beginning, and our level of comfort has increased in recent months. During the summer and fall, a new Cherrywood staff with fresh ideas, energy and enthusiasm was introduced. Daily activities targeted to individual needs and interests have generated an even more welcoming and wholesome environment. We feel fortunate to have had this positive experience and are confident as my wife is moving on to full-time residency.

Ill never forget the anxiety I experienced when it came time to place my mom and dad in an independent living facility. Imagine how grateful I was when I discovered Balfour at Riverfront Park. The facility is more reminiscent of a Ritz Carlton hotel than a senior living center. My parents loved it – the activities, the chauffeur-driven autos, meals at the Peacock Court or in their home or at restaurants on Larimer Square. It brought me great peace of mind. Sadly, mom passed and, shortly after that, dad moved to assisted living. Balfours staff – and their pandemic protocols – have kept dad safe and well cared-for. As of today, hes had both of his vaccine shots at Balfour and were looking forward to resuming in-person visits. Experiences at both independent living and assisted living were top-notch, particularly during the pandemic.

My mom moved into memory care at Balfour Ann Arbor just a couple days before the pandemic started. Theyve been amazing! The staff is kind and caring and go the extra mile to make sure that shes not only living comfortably, but thriving! They set up times when family can Facetime with her; her room looks really nice, shes always beautifully dressed and groomed, from what Ive seen of the food it seems very good, and most of all she just seems happy. Of course its much more difficult because of the pandemic, but they make sure shes engaged, and have activities that she likes. Balfour has been very responsive to personal requests, also. I highly recommend Balfour Ann Arbor to anyone looking for memory care for a beloved family member!

BCWV is an awesome place for my mom. They have tons of activities and outings. She has Alzheimers but is still pretty lucid a good chunk of the time, and she was very concerned about having to go someplace for her care. She was so pleasantly surprised. She feels happier and more free at Balfour than she did before. Shes got lots of friends and social opportunities all around her, the staff are extremely supportive and caring, and shes wound up seeing more of Colorados sites and attractions on regular outings than I have. I looked at a lot of places before I chose BCWV for my mom, and Im glad I did. Balfour is a place that lets her be herself, explore her interests, and accommodates her individuality. Shes treated like a person, not an inmate, and now shes super grateful for the care she gets there. She also really likes the food there, and shes normally a picky eater (except for deserts!).BCWV puts in a lot of time and effort both for the residents, training staff, and for the family members. There are tons of events to bring in family and seminars to talk about care-giving. They have a wide range of residents, from those who need gentle reminding to get through their days through patients who need a lot more care, changing of clothes, helping them eat, etc. But it means my mom is someplace she is used to, that feels safe, where staff will know her and she knows them for a long time to come as the Alzheimers progresses.I cant imagine a better place for her. Thank you Balfour!

We recently admitted my mom to Balfour Cherrywood Village after her dementia made it impossible for her to continue to live safely by herself. Everyone at Balfour, and especially Laura, went above and beyond to get my mom placed and comfortable. Laura has been such a support for us as were navigating this new world. sat in with my mom yesterday for trivia and when I suggested we leave early to go out to lunch, she refused! Mom enjoys the activities and although she isnt sure why she is there, my family and I are confident and comfortable that she is in the right place and is being well cared for.

My mother has lived at this memory care community since the beginning of 2018, and Ive visited her more than 50 times. The nurses and caregiver staff are kind, competent, caring and engaged, with endless patience and devotion to their residents. Cherrywood is truly a community where the residents make friends - with each other, and with the staff. Theres always something going on at Cherrywood - its a lively, fun place to live - with concerts, sing-a-longs, visiting musicians, games, old-time movies, visiting animals and dogs, contests, tea parties, and excursions happening most every day, all day long. The food is delicious, plentiful and fresh. The grounds are lovely, and the inside living and dining rooms are cheery and well maintained. My initially reluctant mother is now happy, and even proud to call Cherrywood her home. You cant imagine how wonderful that makes me feel.
