My wife has been at Brookdale Highlands Ranch for over a year and a half. I have always felt comfortable in her quality and quantity of care, nutrition and activities. Any response to a question is promptly and completely answered. Before Covid I was able to eat lunch or dinner with my wife, participate in her exercise group, and interact with the staff. The programming of activities has been exceptional engaging everyone at their level of participation. When I make a Skype call I always notice her hair is clean and she is wearing clean clothes. The leadership team, lead by Penny, has residents as their priority. Now that in person visits are allowed, my family and I are so excited to see her and the caregivers who have taken care of her for this past year.

My experience with Brookdale Highland Ranch has been wonderful so far. My mother has been there for almost 2 months now and she is very happy. She loves the staff, the food and the facility. She really enjoys the activities and the walking club. But mostly I would say she appreciates the care she is provided but the staff. She comments to me often how wonderful the people are here at Brookdale HR. I find the weekly Zoom meeting with Penny and her staff to be excellent. We get to see what activities our love ones have experienced and includes pictures of everyone. I dont understand the negative reviews, I have not experienced anything like that at Brookdale. In fact I feel like they are part of my family now.

My client has been here for more than a year now; he started out in the Crossing Program for those whose dementia keeps them from living on their own, but is not a hindrance to others. He had a fall, mostly likely due to a small stroke, and is now in the regular dementia care, so I have seen both sides of it now.We absolutely loved he received over in Crossings.. Both the staff and other residents over there were great...especially Caroline and Fatima. It was like independent living, except the doors were locked. I told him the locks were .to keep him safe, and he seemed OK with that. We took bus rides and went on outings every week. It was fabulousNow that hes in the regular dementia care, things are a bit different. He still gets great care, but there was a lot of turnover prior to COVID. Some of which I was very glad about.One day I noticed a large skin tear on his arm which was warm and inflamed so I called the nurses attention to it. She very callously, without even looking at him, said its fine. Im glad she was one of the changes in staff that was madeI dont know how it has been since COVID as I have not been able to spend time with him inside. Although on the two outdoor visits Ive had with him, he has had very sweet caregivers with him.Sadly, my first outdoor visit with him, he did not recognize me, but Im hoping the Governor will open things up, and I can start caring for him again.PREVIOUS REVIEWWe just moved a client here from the same facility I was raving about in this review for being so great; theyve gone way downhill. There, I actually found a custodian taking a snooze in my clients bed (the female janitor was on something and got fired)Its only been a few weeks, but so far so good. Were on the Crossings side, which is more like assisted living. The staff is super friendly, and gets my gentleman friend involved in all of their activities. Maybe things are different now, but back then, it was really badWhat I saw: the residents at that time, were not supervised by staff when I was there, and were literally banging their walkers into each other. As they got more and more agitated, I chose to step in since no one else was around to. The residents were up wandering around at all hours of the night, and seemed to be free to go in each others rooms; I, myself, witnessed other Brookdale inhabitants in my clients room. Some of her personal items turned up missing, and management couldnt account for either the missing items or intrusions; despite repeated requests, they did nothing about eitheWhat I experienced: 99% of the time when I arrived, the residents were pounding on the locked door and shouting get me out; when I opened the door, they would rush me and try to leave. I I would do my best to stop them, but couldnt alone control disorderly dementia invalids who nearly bowled me over as I tried to get to my client. Once again, there was no staff in sightWhat I felt: my stomach was in knots and I was constantly worried about my client...about her safety, health and welfareWe chose to move her to a different facility where she thrived. Interestingly enough, a staff member from Brookdale predicted that my client would get kicked out of any establishment for her behaviors. Instead, she did better than everIt goes to show that positive attitudes, patience, understanding and staff members who are there can change anything

When you enter Brookdale you are greeted by Ginger who is always helpful and very compassionate with the residents. The staff is friendly and professional. The facility has a warm welcoming feel and is very clean. We enjoy our visits with our loved one and feel at home.
