He was extremely happy with his new apartment and especially pleased with the quality of care he received. He went to great lengths to tell me how pleased he was with the staff, the food, and the accomadations. It gave me great comfort knowing he was there...happy..and so well cared for!

The 3 stars is for the staff. This facility has some bad things and some good things. The bad thing is the Social Worker she is discriminative, she doesn't respect that residents has a MDPOA, she was not always being honest, it's the things she would say and how she would talk to you. Not a good experience at all. The good things there was one and only one staff member that spoke to me in I walked in name Constant she was very nice, the staff/dietary staff/therapist was very nice to my father and the nurse that passed the meds. The one that I had communicated with most was the Social Worker which was the worst of it all. I'm around Social Workers and I haven't ever since a Social Worker conduct there self the way she did.

My husband and I are new apartment dwellers; transferring from a private home with independent status. Beth Portillo met with us to orient to Brookdale apt regulations and opportunities. Such a positive and pleasant experience; she was knowledgeable and thorough in addressing all our questions and concerns. Our anxiety was relieved by her demeanor knowledgesuch a valuable employee. Even now, when we meet she calls us by name and has that positive vibe that is reassuring to seniors in their 80’s. Thank you Beth for getting us off to a good start.

I had an amazing experience at Brookdale Skyline mainly due to their incredable gifted OT/PT theropist department I named FANTASTIC 4 .The director FANTASTIC M ACHELLE.is best in the Industry.She is profesional administer, solid leader, master at geting the max insurance benifit and most important is a scheduling guru that archetects/ engineers optimal results for her customers. Without a doubt the best I have witnessed in my athletic life. Her first move was to direct a gifted OT theropist to give me a powerful boost 5 day per week program. Katie is the best OT theripist I witnessed between 3 facilities in my battle with Septic Shock. Specicificaly QUANTUMKATIE employed a varity of creative stretching endurance and muscle building exercises that increased my quality of life to historic levels for an 80 year old 3 months out of hospital. For example at end of 3 weeks I could exceed 120 squats, 3 sets of 20 push ups 33 min on bike creative exercises on parallel bars dancing without walker and 80 feet of free walking.. No matter what your starting point Katie unprecedented charm and creativity will produce the absolute best results. I owe my present quality of life to Quantum Katie. The master PT Dr Kayden Batman took over to hone my athletic and endurance capability that escaped me in Septic fight. My advice if you want best PT specialist pack your bags and get in line for Kayden at Brookdale. Last but not least is Independence Laura. I owe Laura a public apology. I wrongly dismissed her powerful contribution to give me the independence I needed detach the cord and go it alone.SORRY LAURA Y FOR BLIND EYE.YOU ARE MY FREEDOM TRAIN. I will always say a prayer of gratitude for the, FANTASTIC 4. and Brookdale Support of their vital mission.

I carefully pick Brookdale Skyline sklled nursing facility because the have an overall superb reputation. SPECIFICALLY I required an instruction that had a FANTASTIC rehab therapy operation that was competent in Septic Shock recovery. The results were so superior to any thing I had experienced that I named key elements of the group the FANTASTIC 4. First the outstanding director FANTASTIC Michelle. Most people think a Therapy director gos to meetings, and develops Therapy schedules. Michelle does much more. She is the CHIEF ARCHITECT AND ENGINEER FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.Each section is a carefully planed building block that few Therapist can duplicate. She navigates through the insurance barbed wire to deliver the optimum results for each insurance dollar. This is truly an art form you will not find in any other instruction in Colorado. Simply the top therapy director. Second on the list is Quantum Katie who I discussed in a previous review. I mention her one more time to reiterate that Quantum Katie has a rare gift. No mater how desperate the client situation seems Quantum Katie can achieve through carisma and physical manipulation the best possible outcome in least time.Did I mention she is a powerful Therapist. The certified platinum standard in physical therapist is Dr Batman Kaydem. In one meeting he can jump start your return to high performance athletic ability . Each minute of therapy with Batman is precious. Last but certainly not least is Independence Laura. I owe her a public apology in this review. I did not give her near the respect she deserves by assuring I have all the ability to perform the nesasary daily tasks to be independent. Miss Independence you are the torch on top of statue. Thanks forever for what you did to elevate my life

Our Brookdale Experience It is time to reflect after our first year as Brookdale-Skyline residents: did we make the right decision moving out of our house after over forty years into a community of older people? Have our care expectations been met? Would we do it again? What would we tell people about our experience? Leaving a long-time-lived-in home is always a difficult transition. You are leaving everything you are familiar with - your home, your neighbors, your friends, the wildlife that visited your backyard every day, the postman’s friendly wave as your mail is delivered - the things that make you feel good about living there and moving into a facility that offers far less living space and a much older population of people to get to know. It is a very different life-style - different but not unpleasant! On a practical level moving into a retirement community like Brookdale-Skyline is one of the best things that an older person, or a couple, can do. Brookdale is designed and staffed to provide a quality-of-life for older people who are unable, or unwilling to do the daily living skills needed to ensure a safe, healthy environment in the latter part of their lives. As we age, as much as we are reluctant to admit it, what we were able to do when we were younger, is now more difficult, and sometimes impossible to do - and that’s where Brookdale steps in. We moved into a comfortable apartment with two-bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchenette, living room, a den, and lots of storage space - one of Brookdale’s larger units . Other apartment configurations are available. The apartment we selected had been freshly painted and re-carpeted. Everything worked. Various meal plans are available with most residents eating breakfast and dinner while others eat three meals a day. Is the food as good as mother used to make? Perhaps not but mother got tired of cooking three meals a day! We suspect, if people were honest when asked, Are you eating better now than you did it home? many would answer Much better. Brookdale offers a variety of levels-of-care to include Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing care to its residents. The scope of care offered allows for an easy transition from low levels of care to higher levels as a person ages or when more serious medical attention is appropriate. It is not a hospital but a facility that can provide its residents the medical care they need or, when necessary, facilitate their move to even higher levels of medical care in the community. Yes - we would do it again. Isn’t it better to make the move before you have to than be forced to move when an accident or ill-health make a move necessary? We thought it was - and still do. Brookdale - Skyline frees an older person of the daily living chores that become difficult to do as they grow older. It provides a safe, healthy, caring facility where the staff demonstrate daily, their ability and willingness to ensure that an older person’s life is in fact golden. Peter & Mary Kummerfeldt

Diana and I moved to Brookdale Skyline May, 2025. We were shown one of the cottages and found it quite suitable. Building community is important to us. We have enjoyed becoming friends with neighbors and others involved with the many activities offered here. Maintenance can be a problem but is slowly improving.

I do not live in the main facility but do rent a small cottage inside the property. I am pleased with the location and my neighbors are wonderful. Although you may hear complaints about response times for maintenance and communication, which can be a problem, the Executive Director inherited a troubled community and is working his way through these issues to include more staff. Skyline not only has the main facility to oversee but, unlike other Brookdale communities, has the cottages/townhomes to maintain also, which makes for some of the problems. Brookdale is a corporation and most of the decisions have to be made at the highest level of the corporation, taking time and patience. In spite of the above mentioned weaknesses, I recommend this Brookdale. I investigated other communities and found this one closest to meeting my needs.

Some apartments and visitor accommodations as well as Assisted Living facilities need to be updated. Views from area like living in a resort. Close by everything! My father is a resident at Brookdale Skyline residing in independent living. He has been happy and content, the staff is very helpful and treat him with dignity and grace no matter the situation. I always walk away from any interactions feeling they all genuinely care about my dad and his well being! Recently we made the decision to move my dad to assisted living after a health issue. The staff especially "Brook" were extremely catering and reassuring during the entire process. Knowing that that paper work and logistics of the move were being handled was very reassuring and allowed us to concentrate on getting my dad the care he needed. Our experience with Brookdale Skyline facilities and staff has been all around excellent! Thank you!

Our journey at Brookdale Skyline has started off being so wonderful. Tomas who is the Director of Sales is so very attentive, kind, understanding and supportive to what our needs are for my Father in law. The property is massive with beautiful views of Garden on the Gods and downtown Colorado Springs. The residents that we came across seemed so lovely and eager to share their experiences at Skyline. All positive. Any questions that we forgot to ask during our visit/tour we called Tomas and he answered right away with such an uplifting voice and took extra care of us. My father in law has not lived at Brookdale Skyline long but he has adapted well and is thriving. We look forward to seeing more of this from him and to getting to know more of the Skyline team.

1. He was initially not entered into the computer system correctly which resulted in him missing medications for days and not having a shower for over a week after admission. They also lost an entire month’s supply of a heart medicine that we gave to the director on admission. 2. I brought him three pairs of spare glasses and showed them to the health and wellness director on admission. A month later, on a visit, I was told that he had lost a nose pad on his glasses. When I examined him, he was missing the nose pad and the metal prong to which the pad attaches had eroded into his nose, which was scabbed, and had surrounding redness. No one had given him one of his three pairs of spare glasses, no one had notified me, no one had even covered the prong with a piece of tape. They did notice that pad was missing but did nothing to fix the situation This was typical of the care. 3. While the clients were being fed in their rooms due to Covid, there was concern because he was not eating. My daughter (living out of state) agreed to zoom while he was eating. She watched an aide bring in a closed box of food and plop it on his table. He didn’t know to open it. The aide came back and said she didn’t have time to open the box. Due to his Alzheimer’s my daughter couldn’t communicate to him to open it. It took over an hour to get someone from the floor to come down and open the box so that he could have his meal… 4. There were numerous medication errors, some of which could have been lethal if he were a small person 5. No one knew who was responsible for trimming Alzheimer’s patient’s nails. Confirmed at 1/18/21 meeting with Brookdale CEO, head of assisted living, head of Health and Wellness, and head of Brookdale at home ( I mentioned that my husband’s fingernails were long and dirty) 6. We chose Brookdale because he could take his little dog and he could be taken swimming. Prior to admission, we agreed to pay a lot extra to their Brookdale at home service for the dog’s care and to have my husband taken to the swimming pool. Once he was admitted, we found out that the Brookdale at home service did not have enough staff and he was never taken swimming and after a month we had to bring the dog home due to neglect (not given water/food, taken out as agreed). 6. Billing was a disaster. His bills were initially sent to HIM on the Alzheimer’s unit and then I received an angry call because his bills weren’t paid. The Brookdale sales person and then the head of Brookdale at Home on admission initially quoted $29/ hour for Brookdale at home services (for dog care, for taking him swimming etc) then over 3 months later I am told it is $40 per hour if under an hour, but looking back at a previous month’s bill I was charged $44 per hour regardless whether over or under one hour of service. Billing time frequently did not reflect actual worked hours as listed on the itemized bill. One example; a staff worked form 11:30-12:30 (1 hour) but I was billed 5 hours. 7. Several months prior to moving into Brookdale, I discussed the plan for behavioral problems as behavioral issues are common with Alzheimer’s patients (my husband had no behavioral issues before moving). I was assured care could be managed and that if he developed Behavioral issues, the process would be that he would be transported to the hospital where medication could be stabilized and then he could be returned to facility. He did develop behavioral issues and they would not transfer him to a psychiatric hospital but instead threw him out of the facility and we had to scramble to get him placed elsewhere… I would not recommend this facility for dementia care.

She is truly awesome! The activities are fun, engaging, therapeutic and varied for the needs of patients in memory care. It is such a comfort to my family that my father is in such a caring, and safe environment (we came from another Brookdale in Denver that was actually terrible)!

My mother lives here. We are happy with most everything EXCEPT THE DINING ROOM!! Turn over is terrible. Servers don't have a clue how to work smart or fast. Food is usually cold and it take a hand wave to get anyone's attention for more of anything. They need better training...SMILES WOULD HELP ALOT!!!!!

I have worked with Heather and Caren over at Brookdale and they have been great to work with. The facility is more like a resort than anything. Lots of activities for the seniors and a top notch facility near the mountains. You won't find a better view of the front range than at Brookdale. If you are in the market for a senior community, look no further than Brookdale Skyline.
