Reviews MorningStar Assisted Living & Memory Care of Boulder
June 2026
My father spent the last year of his life at Morningstar Boulder. I cannot say enough good things about his care and our experience at Morningstar. I work in the health care profession and I have seen many facilities. Morningstar is among the very best. Every staff member was kind, thoughtful, and considerate. I felt like the team knew him and cherished him as an individual, even though much of his personality had dissipated by the time he became a resident. The facility is well maintained. John, the maintenence supervisor make sure that each resident is comfortable in their apartment. I the final months of his life, the staff worked very well with the Bloom hospice team to make sure my dad was comfortable even up to his final hours. Really well done.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about MorningStar in Boulder. Moving my sweet mom from out of state into a new environment while she navigates memory challenges was one of the hardest things I've ever done, but the team at MorningStar surrounded both of us with extraordinary compassion, patience, and love. Conor, the Executive Director, provided incredible guidance and support every step of the way. He helped me navigate difficult decisions with wisdom, kindness, and genuine care, making an overwhelming transition feel manageable. Kathy, the Wellness Nurse, truly held my hand through this emotional journey. She made sure my mom received the extra attention she needed and continually reassured me that she was being cared for with dignity, respect, and compassion. From the moment you walk through the front doors, you're greeted by Brenda at the front desk with the warmest smile. Tracy, who distributes medications, does so with such gentleness and patience. Her calm, caring approach reflects the compassion that seems to define everyone at MorningStar. The caregivers are some of the sweetest people I have ever met. Every time they see my mom, they greet her with hugs, smiles, and warmth. It isn't just a job to them they have a true gift for caring for older adults and making them feel valued, safe, and loved. I also want to recognize John and Daniel from the maintenance team. They are incredibly hardworking, always have smiles on their faces, and consistently treat residents with kindness, respect, and dignity. And I have to mention the food”it is AMAZING! A huge shout-out to the chef and the entire dining team. The meals are delicious, thoughtfully prepared, and another example of the pride and care that goes into every aspect of this community. Navigating a parent's aging and changing needs is one of life's greatest challenges, but I feel incredibly blessed to have found MorningStar. Their dedication to residents and families goes far beyond expectations, and I am forever grateful for the love and support they've shown my mom and our family. And yes... after experiencing this level of care, I'm jokingly putting myself on the waiting list about 30 years early! Forgot to add the very first person I met was Kelli, the Director of Community Relations, and I will never forget her kindness. She gave me a tour of the community, but more importantly, she listened. I was terrified that I was making the wrong decision by moving my mom to Colorado, away from her home in WI. Kelli shared her own experiences and gently reminded me that the greatest gift we could give my mom during this stage of her memory journey was to be surrounded by family. She actually held my hand while I cried, Her compassion made an unforgettable difference, and she is a pivotal part of moving my mom to Morning Star.

We brought my mom to daycare for several months at Morningstar's memory care. This provided respite care for my dad and I who were caring for my mom at home. The staff was wonderful, caring, and treated her with dignity and respect. I would highly recommend this service.

MorningStar of Boulder is wonderful. My older sister is happy and she is being well cared for by everyone at MorningStar Boulder. She is treated kindly and with respect, and she feels tended to and cared for while maintaining a sense of independence and dignity. At MorningStar Boulder, it's the people who make the difference. From the front desk, to the customer service and sales people, medical and nursing staff, caregivers, cleaning and maintenance folks (Thanks, John!), the chef, kitchen, and dining staff -- everyone is fantastic. It is professional care and also feels like family. People truly care about every aspect of what they do to help others, and to my sister, and to me and my family, that makes all the difference.

My wife was in Morning Star Memory Care. The care was absolutely the best. Kind, caring, attentive. My visits were hard because of her Dementia, but the staff was always extremetly helpful. I highly recommend Morning Star.

Mom was at Morningstar Boulder for two years. The place is beautiful with inside and outside delightful sitting areas. The staff is top notch and they gave their love and care to Mom. The dining room is open all day so there is not a rush to dine or hurry to leave. Mom deserved a place like this.
March 2026
Beautiful place, great location, and fantastic staff! Everyone was super friendly and incredibly helpful during our move-in process. Everyone has been very kind and patient during this difficult transition for my father.

My mother-in-law and I toured this community a few days ago after visiting four other locations over the past several weeks. From the moment we walked in, we were pleasantly surprised to be greeted right away”something we hadn’t consistently experienced elsewhere. Even though the front desk receptionist was assisting two other people, she still acknowledged us, which made us feel welcome. My mother-in-law especially connected with the sales representative. She described her as one of the kindest and most sincere people she’s met in a long time. As we were leaving, my mother-in-law said, I think there’s something special about this community”and I think it’s the people who work here. While she hasn’t made a final decision yet, MorningStar is currently at the top of her list.

My mother moved to Morningstar of Boulder recently and I’ve been very impressed with the kindness, care, energy and community feeling at Morningstar. This outstanding culture is created by the leadership of the executive director, Conor, whose passion for and dedication to the residents is evident and is displayed by the entire team. My mother and I have had such positive interactions with everyone we’ve encountered, including the care team, dining staff, administrative personnel, maintenance, activities group, and the nurses. The nurses, Kathy and Tracy, have gone over and above on many occasions for us. They’ve been kind, knowledgeable, helpful, and very thorough. My mother had a recent illness, and due to their outstanding care, she was diagnosed early and taken care of beautifully. Also, the care team has been exceptionally kind, responsible, patient and caring, which is representative of the Care Coordinator, Rocio, who exemplifies excellence with her care for the residents. I feel very lucky that my mother is at Morningstar interacting with this incredible team.
December 2025
Morningstar at Boulder literally saved my mom's life. Our first month there, the Morningstar nurses caught her sudden, rapid decline after a recent hospital visit. Then after 7 months of hospice care at Morningstar, she was able to graduate and is now better than she has been these past couple of years. Time and again, the nurses and staff go above and beyond to make resident and family feel heard and cared for. One staff member even spent time labeling mom's clothing drawers for her. The executive team at Morningstar Boulder are the best, according to many I've heard from. Conor, John, Kathy and the entire team create a caring environment with personal connections and tailored solutions for all of their residents. I can't say enough about these good people!

Working with John, the Maintenance Director, was nothing short of excellent. I can tell he wants things taken care of and done right. Excited for the new partnership ahead!

I visited Morningstar of Boulder to visit an old friend of mine and her grandma. She introduced us to Kelli in passing. Kelli was so loving, and kind and knowledgeable about the community and answered several different questions of mine. I have several individuals that I will be passing the information to because I think MorningStar of Boulder sets the bar high for Assisted Living and Memory Care.

Rocio Castillo is friendly and conscientious of residence concerns and needs. I have never had a bad experience with her. Whether adapting a schedule or assisting in the cafeteria, she always has a smile on her face and a kind word to say!

My sister and I moved into Morni gstar in March of 2024. She recently passed and They were able to accommodate my needs and move me to a smaller room. I really enjoy the activities in life enrichment. I enjoy eating with my friends in the dining room and being able to socialize. I have been struggling with my eyesight and the staff have been very accommodating to my needs. I would recommend this place to my friends and family.

I have live at Morningstar for about a year. You have the freedom to do what you want, go where you want, the choice to participate or not. I would recommend it to others.

I have lived at Morningstar Boulder for over 3yrs. I enjoy all of the activities and take part in most of them. I like the staff, they’re all very caring and helpful when i need it. I don’t know all of them by name but the staff I do interact with have been very pleasant.

My mom, Elinor was treated like a queen by Morningstar Staff. She lived in AL for 8 months in 2023, then in Memory Care for 3 months. They work hard, empathize with family and patients, and did a wonderful job for my mom. Last year, my mom was dying at Easter and they welcomed all our family to such a special Easter meal and tried to give us tender care, but also privacy. I highly recommend them!
July 2025
The facility is staffed with many very caring team members. All go above and beyond for the residents. While not many family members desire to be in assisted living, MorningStar has made the transition far better than I expected. There are numerous engaging social activities, which have contributed to improved physical and mental health of my loved one.
July 2025
Everything is so nice and wonderful. And my grandma loves it here and I love that she loves it.

To express living at MorningStar I must refer to a quote by Maya Angelou: "This is a wonderful day. I have never seen this one before." - Dianne
June 2025
First, Morningstar of Boulder is a beautiful facility, but where they really stand out is with their team. The team here is incredible and will go above and beyond to make sure you are happy, cared for, and truly feel at home.
May 2025
My mother in law was at Morningstar for almost 2 years. During that time she was treated with care and dignity throughout her time. The staff and residents all treated her well, cares for her needs. She was in memory care throughout her time there she engaged in activities and smallnsightseeing trips and did things to keep active. We felt very grateful to have had her live at Morningstar. I would recommend you make a point of visiting with Conor, Rosio, or John and the rest of the team when you are there, you will find them all to be caring and competent caregivers.

I am a resident of Morningstar Boulder Colorado for two and a half years and counting. Ms. Brenda at the concierge desk always smiling ready to help anyone if she doesn’t have the answers she will find out. Kali and the activities team are caring beyond the activities room the Wednesday outing are always something to look forward to. Housekeeping, maintenance and care team are also working to ensure we are happy, safe and cared for the list of name are endless. I would recommend Morning Star to anyone.
April 2025
The staff at Morningstar are very caring and focused on helping their residents live their best life. The community is beautiful...well maintained. There are so many activities. When we help settle a new resident in, the staff helps make the day go so smooth and helps ease the stress of moving.
April 2025
After looking at several Assisted Living facilities I knew Morning Star Boulder was the right place for my mom and aunt. A year later, I am even more convinced that they are the best choice if you want your loved ones to be well cared for and happy. The kindness, compassion and attention the entire team has given to my mom and aunt over the last year is nothing short of impressive. There are many opportunities for the residences to laugh, be entertained and even grow through the excellent Life Enrichment daily actives. They offer something for everyone including daily exercise, weekly outings, crafts, games, intellectual actives and much more. The team encourages participation and even comes to the residents door to invite them to participate. Recently I spent nearly 24/7 at Morning Star Boulder while my aunt was passing. This time, while so hard and difficult, was actually a blessing because I got to really know many of the team members and residents on a more meaningful level. The compassion and genuine love they not only showed to my aunt, but my mom and me were a great blessing and brought us comfort. Are they perfect? Of course they are not, but when an issue or concern does arise the Executive Director is quick to investigate and resolve any issues. The Morning Star Boulder Team is truly a community of people who serve the residents they are entrusted to, with dignity, compassion, patience and love. I am thankful that we are part of the Morning Star Boulder family and that they are on this journey with us.
April 2025
Overall, my dad had a truly positive experience at Morning Star after three traumatic memory care placements. He blossomed there”smiling, dancing, and finally feeling safe. The care givers and upper management were kind, transparent, and responsive as his needs changed quickly. It gave him dignity at the end of his life, and I’ll always be grateful. Details below for families wanting more info: My dad had rapidly progressive Frontal Temporal Dementia with increasing symptoms of ALS. He only lived at Morning Star for 3 months because his dementia was so progressive, but they were an amazing 3 months where he blossomed. He started participating in activities from his wheelchair like the balloon toss and dancing after being depressed and socially isolated at his other memory cares. Morning Star was able to accommodate his increasing needs over the 3 months he lived there. He started in the highest level of care tier, and they didn’t increase the price even when his needs increased. Morning Star had the option of a call button on his wrist and on the wall to alert the caregivers if he needed help with anything not just crises. They had the option of an AI camera on the ceiling that would detect and record falls so they could go back and see what happened. They also allowed me to have a Yi camera that I could monitor from my phone for his safety. The staff was very hardworking both physically, mentally, and emotionally. He was was a two-person assist and by the end, the staff would assist him in and out of bed throughout the day, change his brief, dress him, brush his teeth, turn on the TV, help him drink from a straw and helped feed him in his last weeks because he couldn’t do so himself. I went to visit every day and be his voice, so I gratefully watched them do all of this in real time. The staff stayed on top of his detailed and shifting requirements. I often had to guess his needs and relay them to the staff, and they were responsive and would proactively address changes to the Care Plan. When he could no longer assist with the transfers, Morning Star and his hospice team coordinated for him to have a Sit to Stand Lift and then a Hoyer Lift. They had team meetings to train everyone on the lifts, and the caregivers would calmly coach my dad through using the lifts because he’d get scared. My dad passed in February, but I love Morning Star so much that I’ve continued visiting a few days a week with my toy poodle because of how welcoming and joyful both the staff and residents are. The other residents in the memory care are often laughing, singing and dancing. They’re far more social than the residents at his other memory cares. I believe this is because they’re treated with respect and warmth, so their mental health is better. The other memory cares used bossy tones with the residents and had intense controlling tactics. The Morning Star staff used redirection and compassion with my dad and the other residents, which makes for a positive culture that isn’t driven by hostility and exasperation. I would love to live there myself because of the social environment where I’ve become good friends many of the residents and staff, but I am not 55+ and I don’t have qualifying care needs. But I plan to live there when I’m older if I can. I think the main thing if you have a loved one living at a memory care (any memory care) is to stay involved with their care as much as you can. If you see changes in your loved ones demeanor and needs, be willing to communicate with their care team and pivot even in small ways. If you can get to know the staff that is going to help make sure your loved one doesn’t get overlooked. Speak up sooner than later if you have concerns so resentments don’t fester and care routines can be quickly course corrected. Also, for family whose loved ones have trouble with the TV and phone: look into getting a JubileeTV from Amazon. Having ann Echo Show was helpful too before we bought a JubileeTV.

The care and attention to detail is substantially below expectations. The sales job and upfront promises are not consistent with the service provided in memory care. Non-existent management follow through on promises, multiple mistakes in medication delivery, staff that is more focused on their telephones than resident care, all make for a poor living experience for the resident.
March 2025
After nearly a year in the memory care unit, I moved my loved one to a different facility. The fundamental problem is management. After finding my mom covered in feces, often left alone in her room during meals, no laundry done for weeks, medication mistakes, I tried multiple times to ask for help from the executive director and the memory care director. Even though they appeared to listen and show compassion during care plan meetings, there was absolutely no change in staff behavior and no follow up. The staff spend much of their time on their phones instead of caring to resident needs. I spent several nights with my mother and never received the wellness check we were promised. While very friendly, the memory care "director" has absolutely no qualifications and no understanding of dementia care. Christmas dinner consisted of a boxed meal with a dry turkey sandwich, a bag of chips and a prepackaged pudding cup. The sales and marketing personnel do an excellent job of selling a place of luxury style care that emanates safety and compassion. The reality is a facility motivated by profit at the expense of the dignity the residents deserve.

We found Morningstar to be a wonderful caring and compassionate community for our mom. The entire staff welcomed her and us. Conor and his team provided exceptional care in all phases of short term care two years ago and then her final care needs for assisted living. They went the extra mile helping move back in within a week of our new plans with accurate and timely communication. Then the staff remembering her name; always with a gentle and loving touch. We were blessed to have her reside with this group of people. Thank you Conor and all the team.

My mother has lived happily in assisted living at MorningStar of Boulder for 5 1/2 years. She arrived in Colorado in poor health after the death of my father. She spent a week in the hospital with pneumonia and a urinary tract infection. Then she was discharged to a skilled nursing rehab center for one month. She did not have the balance to safely stay home alone at our home while my husband and I worked. Thankfully, I found MorningStar. I truly believe that my mother is alive because of my care and MorningStar's care. Her new physicians in Boulder 5 years ago gradually decreased her medications from 21 to 6 pills. She responded well to in house PT and OT. She feels safe and loved by the staff. I feel confident that the staff always makes her feel special and that her needs are met.

Sorry, I only rated your survey with one star when checking out. I was in a hurry and not really paying attention. Our family is happy that our father/grandfather is being taken care of by your staff.
January 2024
My mother has been on the memory care side since June and I can't tell you how wonderful the staff and facility is. All the rooms are huge and unique to memory care, there are showers in the rooms. There are also kitchenettes with cabinets and a full-size fridge. I looked at five or six area memory care units and none of them had those two options. The staff is incredibly caring and really and truly loves each of the residents.
November 2023
Living outside of Colorado, I'm more at ease at the care and compassion that they give my mom. Additionally, the staff is very friendly and never seemed burden by our requests.
October 2023
In March, 2023, I slipped on ice ,fell, and broke my arm in multiple places. I could not live on my own so I spent five months in Morningstar of Boulder's assisted living. It was wonderful, it met all my needs, and I would most highly recommend it to anyone else needing similar services. The staff was amazing, top to bottom. They were all highly competent professionals, executing their tasks with skill, caring, and compassion, not to mention good humor and plenty of smiles. Morningstar offers a wide array of activities, something for everyone. I needed physical and occupational therapy in particular which were provided on site by people highly skilled in their craft. Finally, the food. It was excellent. The menus provided delicious variety and you could tell that the chefs and the servers all valued giving the residents a quality dining experience. In short, I recommend giving Morningstar your most serious consideration; it is certainly assisted living at its finest.

I cannot begin to thank them enough for all they have done for my father with all the complex care he needed. I have would recommend this facility to anyone. Your worries for your loved one will be at rest knowing the high standards of cleanliness, care and great tasting food and entertainment/environment that is provided here. It was always a pleasure to visit.

Hats off to MorningStar!

My loved one has been residing at Morning Star for about eight months. We are very pleased with our experiences at the facility. Morning Star is well-maintained, with clean and attractive common areas, hot delicious meals and great snacks. The staff supports my loved one in a caring and professional manner and are always responsive to my contacts. He is enjoying the companionship and socialization with like-aged residents as well as the strong, positive rapport that has been established with staff. He loves to select his favorite food(s) from the menu and enjoys participating in activities of his choosing.

My dad says "they're very, very, nice people. If you need anything or ask them a question, the staff is right there to respond and help." He rates the food very good (he's gaining weight and never misses a meal) and as a family, we're very pleased that he's in such a nice, well kept and friendly place.

I spent 4 days and 3 nights with my sister in MorningStar's Reflections. The caregivers that I met were great - pleasant, courteous, efficient without being brusque, and, for the most part, there when needed. The food was varied, nutritious, neither over nor under cooked, and tasty. Care is taken to ensure dignity, and dignity for the elderly is something that is often overlooked or overshadowed by efficiency. I was there during my sister's morning routine, deciding what to wear, toileting, brushing teeth. Both male and female caregivers were courteous, friendly, helpful, patient. I was there when she got ready for bed and noted the kindness and efficiency of caregivers during overnight checks. I observed med administration, how patient administrators were, explaining what each pill was for and why she should take it. I observed several activities- Zoomba, beach ball, bocci ball, cooking, games, a guitarist/singer and a poet reading, music on the internet, snack time, a Friday night movie. I feel that such activities are important to keep residents from becoming bored, to keep minds and bodies active to the degree that they are able. This was a good experience for me and it enabled me to feel comfortable with leaving my sister in MorningStar’s care.

Our uncle has started to make friends, get stronger and healthier and re-engage in life due to the care and concern of the people at Morningstar. It is a relief to my husband & I to know he is being well cared for and we can be family again instead of care givers.

We moved my 93 year old mother here from her house of 55 years across the country. Though she is a very strong and resilient woman, we were not sure how she would adjust to the dramatic change in location and lifestyle. My initial interactions and impressions of Morningstar were very positive and hopeful. The staff member with whom I dealt, Shelley, could not have been more understanding, empathic and encouraging. This has been our and my mother's experience with every one of the staff at Morningstar! She feels loved, known and safe. The facility is lovely and well maintained. There is a rich array of activities that are provided if the residents feel so inclined and a real effort on the part of the staff to build community with not only the residents, but the family of the residents, as well. We greatly appreciate this. Monthly heritage nights showcase the ethnic background of a resident and Chef Bill and entire staff go out of their way to serve an authentic meal. Weekly happy hours with live music are a nice treat as well as nightly movies in the comfortable theatre and saturday afternoon MASH showings, which mom looks forward to for some laughs. Brianna Westlake, the Director, does a wonderful job of keeping us informed of what is going on, including staff changes and upcoming events, ad makes herself very available, as do all the staff. We are looking forward to the upcoming Hanukkah and Christmas parties next week. This is just another example of the effort they put into inclusivity and community building. I cannot thank the Morningstar family enough for making this difficult transition for my mom as happy and "successful" as I think possible. Keep up the high quality and heart-felt work! You are making such a tremendous difference in the lives of our loved ones and thereby giving us, their families, such peace of mind. Thank you thank you thank you. Kay Fellows

The staff at MorningStar Boulder are rock stars. My 91 year old dad has dementia, but is highly functional physically. They are doing a great job keeping him happy and well entertained. The application process was a breeze. The staff seems genuinely interested in the well-being of their residents. The food seems to be high quality and fresh, and the premises are clean, modern and very home-like. Thus far, I highly recommend this facility.

What makes Morning Star a special place is the heart of the staff. The residents are like family to each staff member. This type of love is rare in a facility like this....this love is truly priceless. I wouldn't want to have my family stay anywhere else. Morning Star at Boulder is always open for criticism and does their best to make sure everyone is happy/safe. The staff is so transparent and willing to listen. You really can't ask for more than this.

All of the employees at Morning Star have welcomed my grandparents into Reflections Memory Care and been a great support system for the family. Their team has treated them with kindness, compassion, and respect. They have been extremely accommodating, giving personalized care to each of them. My grandparents are happy, safe, and pleased with all of the services provided. Morning Star is a great center to trust with the care of your loved ones.
