Today my mother left ActivCare at Yorba Linda after a battle with dementia for the last 13 months. The staff treated her like family and made this dementia journey as pleasant as possible for my siblings and I. We could not have done this without them! I would most definitely refer anyone needing assistance with their loved one who has dementia to ActivCare. The journey is not an easy one but with these caregivers by your side it is possible! Thanks to all the staff for making my mom's journey pleasant until the end.

Absolutely amazing facility and staff! The staff is competent, professional and reliable. I had my mom at a different facility and recently moved her here. The difference is night and day. I have nothing but great things to say about this place and the staff! From the minute I first met with Shannen, she made me feel very comfortable and confident in her experience and capability to deal with people with dimentia and how to handle a difficult situation. They handled my aunt's transition with a very personable approach and made her move-in as easy and seamless as it could be. The facilities are beautiful and very homey, the meals are great and the staff goes above and beyond to make sure the residents are comfortable and cared for. I even get pictures sent to me periodically so I can see my aunt participating in activities and having a good time. Would definitely recommend ActiveCare at Yorba Linda to anyone dealing with a loved one who needs dimentia care.

My Dad has been a resident at ActivCare Yorba Linda for about 8 months. It is a fun, caring and warm environment. It feels more like a large home rather than a memory care facility. I felt horrible having to put him in a care facility, but he always seems happy, well cared for and has become a true part of the community. Luckily he's sweet and easy-going so I think that makes him so lovable. The staff always seem to be smiling and happy to see him. I love the homey ambience of the facility. It's beautifully decorated and painted with gorgeous murals. I know he's well loved and cared for there!

Finding a place to care for your loved one is hard. And believe me, I felt sorry for whoever was going to take on my mom because not only am I in deep in healthcare (previously in acute neuro trauma and now in outpatient/hospital admin), but she is heavily SURROUNDED by people in healthcare ranging from directors, doctors, surgeons, and nurses. On top of that she has family who loves and protects her very deeply. Somethings that stood out about ActivCare to me from the rest that made me choose them over the others: 1. There's only 2 levels instead of 5+ levels. You have to have memory issues if you want to live there so there will be no confusion or issues trying to determine which patients need what as the general needs will be similar. 2. You don't get nickel and dimed. Other places might charge for laundry service, food, incontinence, etc etc. not here. You just might have to pay for medications or the beauty salon or doctors. 3. There's a licensed nurse at all hours of the day and wake staff 24 hours. 4. Appropriate staff are constantly cleaning. 5. They usually have daily exercises. 6. There are outings. 7. There is a set daily schedule. 8. There's a tiny putting green if they choose to putt. 9. There's a tiny garden. 10. We could go take food and eat with her whenever we wanted. 11. All of the above was everything we loved, but the cherry on top was that it was THE BEST COST!! What I was scared of: 1. She wouldn't accept it and start declining. 2. She wouldn't adapt. 3. She wouldn't be nice to them. 4. She wouldn't eat the food. 5. She would be mad at us. 6. They wouldn't care for her like we did at home. What actually happened after she became a resident despite her craziness and Sour Patch Kid personality: 1. She relied on them and they comforted her. 2. She ate the food and almost too much that she got the nickname the Cookiemonster. 3. She adapted (we told her it was a private hospital to get stronger since they had exercises everyday and people to help her walk). 4. They accepted her sour moments and loved her anyway. 5. She felt comforted by them and especially by certain people. 6. She actually got stronger for a bit and actually started socializing and participating. 7. Of course she fell because thats is inevitable but they cared for her the right way each time (and if you think because she lives in a facility that it shouldn't have happened then I'll tell you right now you're never allowed to hire anyone to care for your loved one or send them somewhere to live because that's impossible). 8. I got to see an Elvis impersonator, whole room karaoke, chair exercises, the biggest puzzles of my life, so many things that will now also be core memories for my son. 9. I became her daughter again instead of the stressed and burnt out default extra caregiver since she lived at my house. 10. They loved and cared for her more than I could have ever imagined. My mom's brain cancer eventually took over and even when it enslaved her to be loud and demanding they still loved and cared for her until she couldn't function. Imagine this mixed with memory and dementia issues. It takes a special soul and personality to work in an environment like this; I can save your life but I admittedly am not that person. All of these people are that person and if God gave me back my mom from heaven then I would choose ActivCare Yorba Linda again to help me care for my mom. The care she received makes it 10 times more worth what was paid for her care which was already a great price. If you're reading this sentence and contemplating, I think you know where your family will be going. Tell them the Cookiemonster sent you.

I cannot express my gratitude to the entire staff at ActivCare Yorba Linda for two years of impeccable care for my mother. Not only do they truly care about their residents, they really understand how to handle memory care patients, and that's just not the case in a lot of places. Residents are given a large variety of activities which keep their minds engaged and stimulated. They are not parked in front of a TV all day but rather are given exercises, music therapy, outdoor activities, trivia, bingo, crafts, and much more. Live entertainment is brought in at least monthly, if not more often. Special kudos to everyone from the janitorial and housekeeping staff, to the kitchen staff, to the caregivers and administration for how they handled the pandemic. They did an excellent job not only caring for the sick (my mother was one, and she caught Covid in the hospital, not at ActivCare), but also with their infection procedures and also helping the residents through a very difficult time for them and their families when we couldn't be together for an entire year. It was a terrible time for all of us, but everyone at ActivCare truly did do the work of heroes and continue to do so. Prior to the pandemic, the owners of ActivCare put on very informative workshops about Alzheimer's and dementia at various locations around Orange County. I hope they start them up again soon, because they were extremely useful. Families also receive excellent support here, too. In my opinion, you cannot find a better place for your loved one than ActivCare. I looked at several Memory Cares in the area -- and some more expensive -- before deciding on ActivCare, and I have had not a single regret. I consider myself and our family to have been very fortunate to find them, and I know my mother's last years were as happy as they could be when she was living there.

My Dad received amazing care. I live far away and when at the end my Dad couldnt hold the phone, the staff there would put the phone next to him so I could talk to him.
