The level of care in the memory unit was so much higher than other facilities in the area. The staff are outstanding. Nedra, an aide who worked with my mother, was amazing. She was caring and professional even in difficult circumstances.

If you are finding yourself looking for a good fit for your loved one Aegis is the place. From my initial tour with Mary to every step of the process that followed was beyond pleasant. Mary was patient, personable, and a wealth of information. Mary walked me and my family through each step and reassured us the whole way. I can not say enough good things about Mary and her ability to make you feel like part of the family. Aegis is a beautiful property with great amenities but the staff is what sets them apart. Every time I was there to sign paperwork or to tour the room I was greeted warmly by all staff. Bernadette at the front desk was so friendly and helpful. Beatriz is a warm and you can tell she cares for her residents. Everyone went out of their way to introduce themselves and I could see how caring they are with the residents. I know my grandma is in good hands and I know they care for their residents like their own family. They are constantly putting on events and their residents happiness health and safety are the main priority. I am so grateful and so happy we chose Aegis.

We moved my mother to Aegis Living in May 2022 and I wish I would have moved her there sooner. After my first meeting with Mary, I knew my mom would be safe, happy, well cared for and thrive. Everyone from the caregivers, nurse, dining room helpers, driver, activities coordinators and concierges are wonderful! They are always responsive to requests and are so nice and helpful to my mom. I highly recommend this community to anyone looking for a supportive, loving and friendly home for a loved one, especially with Alzheimer’s. It’s the best.

After one month of respite care at Aegis, my husband told me that he wanted to move in permanently. The care he receives at Aegis has provided him with an increased cognitive level, more independence and new friendships. Residents are encouraged to participate in numerous and interesting activities. The entire staff is friendly, caring and devoted to each resident. Doug's needs are met 24 hours a day and he is at peace with his life. Being at Aegis has not only been good for him, but has allowed us to have a better, happier relationship and given me back a healthier life, physically and emotionally. A special shout out to Mary Sawyer who made this all happen.

We moved my mother with Alzheimer's to Aegis in Ventura last December. Although the decision and process of physically moving my mother was an incredibly nerve-wracking experience for me and my family (she understandably did not want to leave her house, but it was no longer safe for her to live there), I am happy to report she is doing well and LOVES her new home at Aegis. Mary Sawyer was wonderful and patient, and helped us immensely accommodating our fragile situation when we made the decision to move her. We couldn't have done it without her guiding us through the challenges. We are always warmly welcomed during out visits. My mother takes full advantage of the freedom to safely roam the facility and outdoor courtyard - she loves to walk - and walks the path several times a day. She has made several friends, is comfortable with the caring staff, enjoys the fun outings, and raves about the food! She loves music and dancing and we have had so many cherished moments with her during the scheduled activities. I have seen a marked improvement in her disposition and no longer worry about her safety. She's always thrilled to see us! Alzheimer's is an unforgivable disease, but my mother is safe and happy at Aegis and I couldn't be more thankful.

I recently moved my mother to memory care at Aegis Ventura. I had the pleasure of working with Marketing Director Mary Sawyer. In speaking with Mary, discussing my mothers needs and my concerns- especially during Covid- I knew right away that Aegis was the right place for my mom. Touring the facility, understanding how my mother would be cared for and how she would spend her day gave me great comfort. I live out of state and I am able to get regular updates, FaceTime whenever I want and have direct Communication with the care team. I greatly appreciate how welcoming and attentive Mary Sawyer was to help me make this difficult decision so much easier than I expected! Thank You!

My mother has been a resident at Aegis for over 6 months. We continue to be happy with the care and services she receives. However its only because of Mary Sawyer and her excellent initial contact and follow thru that we decided to choose Aegis of Ventura. Mary has exceptional job skills for her position and a great personality as well. She continually makes herself available and always follows thru with any needs or requests we have. She is truly a wonderful, caring and loving person. Thank you Mary for all you do for our family.

I moved my 88 old father into Aegis-Ventura in January of 2020 from an independent living facility in the area. I found the marketing director, Mary Sawyer, very helpful with my inquiries and answered all of my questions. She also worked very hard to ensure my Dad had a smooth transition into the facility. I so appreciated her daily text updates for the 1st week to keep me informed how he was handling the transition.Whether over the phone or in person, I found all of the staff I interacted with to be very friendly, attentive, and genuinely enjoyed being at Aegis and attending to the residents. And then the pandemic hit... This was hard for me as living in Northern California it impacted my ability to come down for regular visits. In hindsight knowing what has happened with the spread of Covid-19 and the impact to nursing homes, Im so thankful my Dad was in a facility that took this health crisis very seriously and instituted strict protocols early on. I know it hasnt been easy on the residents (or staff) but I wouldnt have wanted him anywhere else.Im so glad I chose Aegis Ventura for my Dad!

I cant say enough good things about this place. I recently moved a family member there and it was such a good decision. Not only is the place beautiful and extremely clean and well kept, but the food is great and the staff are so kind and thoughtful. Working with Mary on making the decision to move there made all the difference. She went above and beyond to make the whole experience as positive and seamless as possible and continues to go out of her way to accommodate what would otherwise be a difficult situation for our loved one. There are lots of activities and a fantastic movie theatre. The courtyard provides a beautiful place to sit and enjoy the sunshine or take a stroll around the well manicured grounds. Dr Milgrim who tends to the residents is very kind and there are several RNs on staff to take care of the patients when he is not around. After looking at numerous places, Im so glad I chose Aegis.

I am the trustee of a 91 year-old friend with dementia. She moved into Aegis in January 2018 and her dementia has progressed since that time, worsening. She lives in the memory care neighborhood at Aegis of Ventura.I have found the care provided to my friend at Aegis to be very good. Like any institution, be it a school for your child, or an assisted living or memory care facility for a parent or elderly friend it is essential to cultivate relationships with those at the institution. At Aegis, they have welcomed this and I have good communication with the care staff, and the healthcare staff. This has proven essential for all involved, especially myself.Recently my friend was diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia, which is common in those who have dementia. Aegis staff noticed that my friend was not herself at lunch, and by 4pm they had called me to say they were sending her to the hospital, where she received the diagnosis. She was in the hospital for two days, and unfortunately I was sick at this time and could not visit or be involved myself. Aegis staff was with my friend in the emergency room from until 10:30pm, and my friend was admitted to the hospital, where she stayed for two days. The healthcare director and care manager kept me informed to the situation, and in fact picked her up at the hospital and brought her back to the facility. The level of care from Aegis, the hospital and my friends physician was excellent, and a great relief to me. This is one example. I find that Aegis communicates to me with all concerns regarding the care of my friend. And that is my recommendation regardless of what facility you choose, cultivate good communication, and stay involved, just as you would with your child at a school, or something of that nature.I can highly recommend Aegis for memory care assisted living. My friend, dementia and all is very happy there, and somehow remains in good spirits. When I recently took her to her physician for a follow up appointment, returning back to Aegis as we walked into the facility my friends eyes lit up, she recognized where she was, happy to be home.

Moving Mom and Dad into assisted living was a difficult phase for all of us, staying in their home of 35 years was no longer feasible. During the move into Aegis of Ventura we were impressed with the diligence, care and attention we received from the staff and management. Staff regularly, in passing, offered to assist in any way. There were 101 details and preferences that needed to be worked out and they were always helpful and cooperative in easing this transition.

We had mom in two places before we found Aegis. By the time we got to Aegis, we were pretty upset with the previous care from other places. We told them what we were not going to tolerate, and they already had rules in place to prevent those problems. Mom was healthier and happier once she got to Aegis. When we popped in for surprise visits, mom was always clean, hair combed, dressed properly and having a good time. There are lots of activities. The people who work there really do enjoy working with the elderly so mom is truly being cared for. When we have a concern, or THEY have a concern, they meet with us right away and handle the situation.

Aegis of Ventura was beautiful, and it looked like the people were very well cared for. The facilities for memory care looked like they would be amazing for my mother-in-law. Of what little we did see, the rooms looked nice, clean, and roomy. The grounds were clean, well kept, manicured, and very beautiful. I would say that it would be a welcome, loving, and caring place. I think the people there were great, and the programs they had were wonderful, so I would recommend it.

Aegis of Ventura was absolutely beautiful. It was like walking into a nice hotel and very expensive, but I didn’t feel it was the right fit for my husband because the distances were too far. You walk down this long hall of doors on either side that was their bedrooms, or what they call suites, and then from there to the dining room was quite a distance, and my husband would never have found it. It just was too far to go anywhere, and he would have needed way too much help. Frankly, they have so many amenities that my husband would not have been able to participate in. I think it was lovely, but I just didn’t think it was suitable for us.
