I can't say enough good things about Family Matters. From the moment I reached out to them, they have been nothing but professional, compassionate, and reliable. The care they provide is top-notch, and it's obvious that their caretakers have a genuine love for their work. They have made such a positive impact on my Grandmothers life and have made it possible for her to continue living comfortably at home. The level of communication and coordination between my family and our caremanager is exceptional, and I always feel well informed and at ease. I highly recommend this in-home care company to anyone in need of care for their loved ones.

I am responsible for the care of a family friend who has onset dementia. My friend's preference was to be at home rather than in a care facility. As I was looking for a care provider I asked a neighbor who works in the medical industry if they had any recommendations. They recommended Family Matters. I am glad they did. (I looked into hiring a caregiver directly. I decided against that because I did not want to be the person responsible for finding a replacement if the scheduled caregiver was not able to make it, and I did not want to be the one who had to oversee every conflict or disagreement. I was surprised at how small the price difference really is between a hire-your-own-caregiver approach and using a service like Family Matters.) I had already researched and contacted several care providers. Family Matters was very competitive in their pricing. They were quick to respond to my inquiry and met with me right away. My friend's needs are regular exercise, meal preparation, light housecleaning, occasional shopping, medication reminder, and general companionship. They assured me that all of those services could be provided, and they have been. Andrew is my contact person at Family Matters. He has been excellent at communicating (by phone, text and/or email) whenever there is a change of the scheduled caregiver, whenever a question arises, or whenever there is any potential problem. And he responds quickly whenever I need to reach him with any question or concern. We have basically had two "problems" during our tenure with Family Matters (just over 8 months) that illustrate why I have appreciated working with them. One issue was due to a personality conflict between one caregiver and my friend. It was really no one's fault (though as demonstrated in video footage from a monitor installed in the home my friend bears the greater share of responsibility). The caregiver was quick to inform both Andrew and me of the conflict as soon as she became aware of it. Between the three of us we made a few attempts to work through and resolve the conflict, but when it became clear that it was not going to be easily resolved Andrew made the decision to replace the caregiver. The second "problem" arose as a result of my friend becoming convinced that the 5-day-a-week caregiver was his girlfriend. The caregiver was excellent at her job and very conscientious about completing all of her responsibilities. She also was quick to inform Andrew and me of my friend's uninvited advances. I made several attempts to help my friend redefine the relationship with no success. Seeing how hard it was for the caregiver to know how to handle the situation Andrew took the initiative to replace her. I was sad to see her go, but he made the right decision. The current caregiver is excellent. Though my friend also sees her as his girlfriend, she has had experience with that scenario and handles it by kindly setting and maintaining the proper boundaries. She prepares meals, cleans, shops, gives medication reminders, has my friend exercise daily, and keeps Andrew and I informed of any particular issues and/or needs. She has been perfect for my friend. Because of their professional and yet personal approach, because of their excellent communication practices, because of their active oversight in the care of each client, and because of the quality of their caregivers I can wholeheartedly recommend Family Matters to those who need to provide care for a loved one.

Although I live 700 miles away, I call my 93yr old mother weekly to check in and I listen as she tells me of her good life in RB home with her cgs from Alta Golden. She is so much happier in her own home, with better orientation, rest and activity She can maintain doing laps with her cg on her patio! During this SIP with the pandemic, I was given a full reckoning of the extra layer of protection put in place for my moms well being. Her cg Oriana is very special to her, like a granddaughter, and she always goes the extra mile for Mom. Just so grateful to know that we have Alta Golden in place, with a high level of practice and just as high a level of heart in caring ways.As a retired RN, I know what best practice looks like. And my siblings who live near my Mom know that Laura is always responsive when any issue comes up, and works with us to resolve and improve any situation. I appreciate that level of professionalism and flexibility. You have my appreciation and trust Laura and company!Sally F. Ladd RN, PHN.

Alta Golden is a first class home care agency operated by Laura ... a wise and practical owner-manager who has been a very helpful and caring helper ever since I left my SNF. Her crew of caregivers are excellent and help me with meals, shopping, and cleaning. And personal care as needed

Very thankful for finding Family Matters. Everyone is amazing to deal with. They have gone out of their way to address the needs of our family member. After sitting and discussing the best options for us, it was obvious that Family Matters were the people we wanted to do business with. My family and I are very thankful for the attention they have given each of our concerns and needs.

Family Matters is amazing, they have been there for us from the moment we called them needing help with my dad. They met us at the hospital and went over care and had someone ready to go on the day of discharge. Having to work full time and not being able to be there is hard and knowing what they have done and continue to do for my dad day in and day out is priceless. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for care for a friend or family member.

Family Matters was recommended to me, and my father, who oversee some of the care decisions for a client my dad has known for many years. They were able to come in at just the right time to provide care around the clock, seven days a week. I cant stress enough, what an invaluable service they provide. They have allowed our client to remain in the comfort and familiarity of his home safely. Not to mention maintaining the closeness and accessibility to family, friends, and activities. The caregivers are exceptional, truly caring for his well-being, safety and helping him navigate through his struggles with Alzheimers. The care manager Linda Pardue has been excellent at managing the care. She is available at all times, visiting and spending time with him weekly if not several days a week just like close family. Thank you, Family Matters for all you do thank you so much for keeping this extraordinary, deserving man in the place he wants to be.

My family had a really great experience with family matters. We were referred to them by a friend. My 87 year old dad had a very serious back injury, and needed some at home care for several weeks after being released from the hospital. The management staff (Linda and Andrew) at Family Matters met us at the house the day he was released. They toured the whole house and understood how my parents live their life, and what was important to them. They were very helpful and comforting. There were many caregivers that came to their house during my dads recovering. Every single one was trustworthy, kind, helpful, and reassuring. I would highly recommend their service to anyone who needs help. I would use them again in a heartbeat. My parents desperately wanted to come home from the hospital. And having Family Matters available to help made it possible. Im so happy we used them.

AltaGolden is a great resource if you are searching to keep your loved one active, engaged, stimulated and socializing. Their personalized caregiving and dementia day care program made a big difference during my fathers struggles with Alzheimers-dependent dementia. My fathers interaction with AltaGolden began during an awkward time when he had transitioned away from a state of independence but was not yet in need full-time memory care. He spent most of his time either sleeping or trying to figure out how to turn on the TV. I contacted Laura Barish and with her team of caregivers they created a personalized care program for my father. Caregivers became increasing involved in queuing (or prompting) my fathers daily preparations (showering, dressing, grooming, etc.) followed by transportation to the day care center. The caregiving was spot-on due to their efforts to understand my father and to reach him on his level of reality. And it was competitively priced. But what truly makes the AltaGolden special is that they couple this excellent caregiving with their dementia day care centeThe atmosphere at the day care center is fun. The staff get clients involved in exercises by presenting physical activities as games that are enjoyable and engaging. They also spend time with brain stimulation games which challenge cognition and memory while being genuinely enjoyable (I admit that participated too, from time to time). And finally, all of this takes place in context of peers; namely, other seniors with varying levels of dementia. Therefore, clients are more at ease and tend to interact with each other. The results for my father were impressive. I wish I could say that they reversed the course of the disease, but in his case, they gave him a sense of purpose. He could never remember the day care center with any specificity, but he talked about it incessantly. He would refer to it as the place on the hill where I work. He would jokingly go on to say, We never get anything done there, but we always have a good time! It was a spirit that I had not seen in my father for some timeAltaGolden can also directly benefit the primary caregiver (you!). You also need a respite in order to manage your own affairs. You can hire personal caregivers to provide respite care in the home of your loved one, but for an 8-hour day Ive found the cost from most agencies is around $200 or more. AltaGolden can certainly provide private (and excellent-less costly) caregiving services, but the day care center is a cost-effective option that can spell you in your ongoing role as the primary caregiver. And if you are a senior reading this review AltaGoldens dementia day care center can be a great resource in your own personal efforts to remain mentally and socially active. Several of the seniors that I met at AltaGolden were in this position; namely, doing everything they could to stay active and stave off the progression of the diseaseOne last word specifically about the staff; they are awesome. They will get to know your loved one and will be a resource for whatever is needed as the condition progresses. Laura Barish is somewhat of a savant when it comes to relating to individuals with dementia. And the office managers are the most cordial and understanding in the business. All of them were instrumental in his care, and an invaluable resource when it finally came time to placing my father in a full-time memory care facilitySo, if you are a senior looking to stay active in the context of your peers, or a primary caregiver looking to setup a network of support for you and your loved one, or if you just need a day of respite care as you support someone with dementia, I cant recommend AltaGolden enough. I would gladly give them 10 stars for their efforts. They were there for me and my father in a time of need and have made a lasting impact on both of our lives.
