Our family had a tremendously wonderful experience with Providence Place. Our father needed additional care for advancing dementia. An unassuming location and building facade, we knew we were in the right place right from our first step in the residence. Providence Place's commitment to cleanliness and organization were highly evident. We even questioned whether the booties, freshly scrubbed floors / bathrooms and well made beds were just for us and the tour. Our father was at Providence Place for over 18 months. The facility provides a loving and supportive environment. Catherine and the care givers were highly responsive to our asks. One particular noteworthy item that we didn't fully understand at first was Providence Place's commitment to no antipsychotic medications for behavioral challenges. Provide Place asked for latitude in using tools and strategies to address behavior through music, activities or simple care rather than resorting to drugs. This allowed or family to have greater quality of engagement with our father. Highly recommend Providence Place.

The staff at Providence Place are very caring and kind. They pay close attention to my mom's needs and are very responsive when we have questions or want to discuss anything. They communicate consistently with us, sending photos and videos so that we can see how mom is doing when we're not there. The program is well-designed for people with memory care needs. They are able to calm anxieties and keep mom engaged with both physical and mental activities. The staff who provide music and exercise are wonderful and it's so lovely to see my mom smiling and laughing. Unlike some other places, it's small enough that staff are able to give dedicated time to the residents. My family feels confident that mom is secure and very well cared for. And she enjoys the food so much. We feel fortunate that we found Providence Place -- and as the pandemic has continued, we've been impressed with how they've followed safety protocols. Thank you so much to all the staff and caregivers (and the chef!) for your warm and kind and attentive care.

My grandmother lived here for about 15 months. She's was very well taken care of by the caretakers there. My dad chose this place over others because when he first met with them, instead of just talking about the facilities, they focused on talking about how they'd care for my grandmother. And I think they lived up to that. Catherine was our main point person, whom we were able to contact via text message anytime, any day. We'd frequently get pictures and videos of my grandma and all the activities they were having her do (arts and crafts, listening to music, physical therapy, movement, eating, etc.). It was always so nice to get those updates and see grandma's smiling face. They were always so nice to me every time I visited as well. They'd set up a private room for us to hang out. I always brought my grandma food and they knew it, so they'd set me up with a table and plates/bowls/utensils/etc to make sure we had everything we needed. My grandma celebrated her 100th birthday there and even though this happened semi during covid times, they allowed us to have a small get together to celebrate her with her close family and friends. They helped us set up and even decorated the room for us and bought my grandma cute little things to wear like a tiara and glasses that said "100" on them. Though it was hard to take my grandma away from her own home, I'm very glad she ended up here at Providence where I know she was taken care of even better than we could. Thank you everyone at Providence for making my grandma's last years of life comfortable. I really appreciate you.

My husband was diagnosed with PSP at a very young age and was originally at another facility before moving to Providence Place. He was a flight risk and would continuously injure himself. Catherine, the wellness manager, and her staff were very supportive and helpful during his transition to Providence Place. She made me feel reassured with my decision to move him. The amount of care and attention Catherine's team display with the residents is impeccable. While they are much smaller compared to other facilities, they provide more of a home-style living environment with a high staff to resident ratio. They provide a large range of therapies and modes of entertainment. Their chef is superb and really goes above and beyond to accommodate each of the residents' palate. Catherine is very hands-on with us and sends us daily texts and videos of my husband. She is quick to address emergencies and always contacts us first before making medical decisions on our behalf. Their care is all inclusive and my husband always had a staff accompany him during his medical appointments. Throughout the pandemic, Providence Place did a great job at keeping the residents safe and healthy by limiting in-person visits. Covid tests were administered regularly for both staff and residents. When vaccinations were made available, Catherine seamlessly organized it for my husband. Since my husband's first day at Providence, Catherine and her team did not make me worry about his wellbeing and I am beyond thankful for that. I would highly recommend Providence Place for your love ones.

I am a retired faculty member from UCSF. My partner of 47 years fell, her dementia increased significantly and after hospitalization was place d in a skilled nursing facility where I had to pay additionally for 24 hr sitters for 20 days. There was no progress, no physical therapy, she lost over 59 Pounds, she was dirty and I feared would die. I found Providence place and within three days, she was clean, responsive and communicating. She was somewhat combative but the stall has worked with her so she is now much more content. I was so afraid they might not keep her but oh no they don't give up and the kindness to her and to me has turned this into a success story. If you want your loved one cared for it It would be hard for you to find a better place. I thank God, Catherine and the staff every day for their caring for my partner. Joanne Whitney, PhD., I am a retired faculty member from the University of California, San Francisco and have previously relayed how Providence Place saved my significant other when she was languishing in a poor memory care environment. Providence Place is remarkable in so many ways It tastefully furnished, always smells good, it has the kindest, most efficient caretakers, good food, lots of programs, consideration of families. But in this pandemic, it has risen above what is good care to being an exemplar of what a memory care unit should be. First, management stopped outside visiting even before the city required it. It contracted with an excellent urgent care company to have all clients, caregivers, and other personnel tested for Covid 19. Providence Place was concerned about clients but also staff and the families of the residents. Every day families receive either pictures or videos of their loved ones doing various activities such as eating, exercising, reading, watchingTV, etc. Families keep in touch with caregivers, management and their loved ones by telephone, texting and email. Doctors are able to do virtual visits with their patients. Not unimportantly, birthdays are celebrated in a big way with special foods, beautiful cakes and lovely decorations. I thank the Lord every day how lucky I am that my friend is under such dedicated and superb and loving care. Joanne Whitney PhD, PharmD

This is an extraordinary facility. Like me, you may be researching places for your elderly parent, and you may be feeling torn and even traumatized because you've reached the place where you need to put a parent in an assisted living facility. This has been the case for me--I never thought I would be making this kind of decision. I moved my mother with great trepidation right before Covid19 struck the city. I was able to visit my mother in person long enough to watch her relax, as her physical needs were taken care of with great tenderness. I realized she had been afraid and tense from pain, uncertainty and her previous substandard care. Providence was quick to shut its doors to keep infection out of its facility--I can only imagine the stress of the caring staff who work there. And while I have not enjoyed been physically separated from my mother, I am confident that the swift action has kept her safe. I am still able to contact her--the staff encourages this. I cannot recommend his facility highly enough.

After my father lost his mobility and started to suffer from dementia I searched different care facilities throughout San Francisco to find the best one suited for his needs. He needed intense care (feeding, getting out of bed, medication, etc). I checked six facilities that varried in quality, but because he needed alot of assistance with all activities, none of them suited his care needs. When I visited Providence place I was impressed with the variety of care options that they specifically give to each person. I was very concerned that my fathers needs may be too much for the staff. After meeting multiple times the Catherine, I was assured they could assist him in every way possible. The care he recieved was phenomenal, the staff was always attentive to his needs and very pleasant to deal with. They met with me multipal times to talk about his changing needs and were always proactive in addressing his changing care needs. I am confident that he recived the best care possible.

Such an amazing place! Other places said they could help my mom (who has early onset Alzheimer's Disease) but this was the only place that could. They are so welcoming and homey. They spend their money on good staff and food.

The caregivers are what make Providence special. Our family has peace of mind knowing our Mom is well cared for. We've recommended Providence to others and most recently another family recommended an out-of-state relative to join Providence. This speaks a lot about how we feel about Providence.

A modest, caring memory care facility. Well-run, skillful staff, good food. Residents are cared for with gentle attention by trained staff - music, games, o.t. Appropriate activities are lovingly and regularly offered to residents.Guests welcomed. Happy to have found Providence for our family member!

We could no longer provide the specialized care mom needed. My brother's neighbor referred us to Providence Place and it was perfect for Mom. Mom is more engaged now as activities led by Svetlana with the residents help with social, motor skills and physical movements. Providence Place is a comfortable place made to look like you're in someone's home. It does not have an institutional look or feel to it providing a warm and comfortable feeling for residents and families alike. The food is freshly made everyday and is well presented and is delicious! The staff really gets a chance to know each resident and are very kind, caring and provides each resident with the support and care needed each day and evening - making it less worrisome for us as a family near and far. What's most reassuring is that Providence Place is clean, well managed by Catherine and her staff who provides us with texts and photos daily/weekly so we know how Mom is doing. What is impressive is when there are health concerns, Catherine and her staff are vigilant and informs us immediately. We could not have found a better place for Mom.

We moved my mom into Providence Place on December 22, 2014 (from a larger assisted living facility). We toured several facilities in and near San Francisco before selecting Providence. The transition was difficult (as is often the case), but Catherine and her team exceeded expectations by accompanying us to doctor appointments (to describe her behaviors), and by listening to our concerns about medications, exercises, and activities. I appreciate how much Catherine and the caregivers work with me to ensure her continued comfort and safety everyone is responsive to my questions and concerns. Providence Place provides a more home-like environment and a high staff-to-resident ratio (with low turnover) - especially helpful in dealing with persons suffering from dementia. Senior care is not easy, and Galina and Catherine have kept a stellar team of caring individuals. I have witnessed them deal with several challenging patients with grace. Vicky provides flavorful meals, unless blander food is required/requested! Lana mixes up exercises and activities and tries to tailor both to each resident's interest and ability. My mom has settled into the rhythms of the place, and I sleep better at night knowing she is getting exceptional care. I recommend Providence Place without reservation.

Great Place! My grandpa Has dementia and the people are soo nice there! their not like other rest homes! it's homy and not like a hospital! The people there were nice enough to give me ice cream in a fancy little faux glass bowl! the activities director is Really good at playing piano for the seniors. Everything is good quality for intense care and i visit with my grandma at least once a week or more. my grandpa's room has an entrance to the garden too! (my grandfather was a landscape architect so he loves the outdoors) I would recommend this place to many people who needs to put their senior in intense care with mental problems(dementia alzheimer's etc).

My mom suffered a mild stroke about a year ago. My brothers and I decided to bring her to Providence after a referral from my uncle. Catherine, the Wellness Director, Ann Marie, Caregiver on 1st floor and the entire staff have been so supportive and helpful during mom's transition from home to assisted living. I never had to worry about the needs of my mom when on not there visiting. They offer a loving nurturing environment. Ann Marie is so passionate and caring about her job and the residence there. All meals are prepared fresh daily by Vicki, the resident cook, and so delicious, I can attest. Lana, the activities director, is full of energy and provides lots of interacting stimulation and music therapy for all parts of the body. Of course there's Catherine updating me on everything via text or email and arranging shuttles to and from medical appointments for my mom. She is very knowledgeable and quick to give advice and suggestions on medical issues that arise. Always thinking of the patient's well being. I would definitely recommend Providence Place to any senior or elderly person in need of care. The facility is always clean and well kept. Every patient is treated with love and respect. Holidays and birthdays are celebrated and family, relatives and friends are always welcome anytime.

This place is great! Of course having to place a loved one is very hard. We tried another place and it just didn't work. It did not have the personal care and relationships that Providence Place has. My wife has early onset Alzheimer's with some "behaviors ". This is just what Providence Place can , and did, handle. Catherine had great advice about meds and even went with us to several doctor appointments. With Catherine's help, and the great staff - especially Lennie and Mayet, my wife has no more behaviors problems and is always in a good mood when I visit. The activities they provide are very appropriate. The entertainment that comes in is excellent too. The outside yard works to get some fresh air. And the monthly fee is reasonable, inclusive, and cheaper than several other places we looked at. We are Kaiser members and the location is very convenient for us. There is always something going on at Providence Place so boredom is not an issue. Placement is hard and it is good that Providence Place is there for us. It is helping with my new life too. Thank you, Kevin P.S. I saw a bad review of Golina. I disagree. She is nice, hardworking, and knows what she is doing.

Providence Place's mission is to provide the highest quality of care for their residents, treating them with respect and dignity. They truly bring a personal touch of care to each individual. We looked at many assisted living facilities throughout San Francisco and received a referral to Providence Place. Initially, when we looked at the website photos, we felt it was not a true representation of the facility. Once we toured the facility with Catherine, Health and Wellness Director, we were sold. The facility was small in relation to others. The caregiver to resident ratio was very small. It had a very homey environment which was perfect for mom. Mom has late stage dementia and would need 24-hour constant care. As evident, the caregivers provide stellar care with compassion. We couldn't have asked for a better set of caregivers. On a daily basis, Catherine and the caregivers would send photos and videos to keep us in the loop of her daily activities and her progress. Catherine is always available via text, email or cell. Due to the nature of mom's illness, she was admitted to the hospital several times. Catherine guided us through the hospitalization process step-by-step. Catherine also provided us insight as to what to expect in the hospital and expectations upon returning to Providence. Before looking at other assisted living facilities, please visit Providence Place. You will be quite impressed.

Providence Place provides genuine, kind and worry free care and support for your loved ones. I can not stress enough how important the caregivers are to your loved ones excellent care and well being. We learned the hard way and then discovered Providence Place. This is a community that cares and communicates and operates with the best interest of their residents as a priority. My Mom has lived at Providence for 2 1/2 years and we've all become an integral part of her care and support together. The same loving team of care givers are still part of her care and that says a lot in an industry that traditionally has a high number of job turn and vacancies. It's because they are treated with the same care and respect that they provide to the residents. This is a wonderful community and team to work with. Catherine the Director will answer her phone 24/7 to ensure you feel supported with any concerns or needs that you have. Thank you to my Providence Family for the great care you give to all of the residents and for providing our family with some peace of mind: Galina, Catherine, Janet, Julie, Ann Marie, Arlene, Vicki, Angel, Rosa, Maria, Yan Yan, Lireo, Myette, Albert and Lala!
