My Mom has been here for two years and we have been to a few assisted livings.This is the best in San Diego County. All because of the Staff and caregivers. She had a fall and was very resistant to moving out of her home but this community has done a great job transitioning her. They offer onsite physical therapy and tons of activities. From the moment I reached out to inquire about Respite Care, I felt this was the right place for our mom Dee. Although she wasn't a resident yet, we attended a weekend luau that she thoroughly enjoyed. That experience confirmed our decision to move forward with a two-week Respite Care stay. When we arrived to pick her up, she didn’t want to leave”so her visit was extended to three weeks! Every moment of her stay felt right. Kelsi is fantastic.. excellent service and follow up on getting mom into the memory care unit. The memory care unit is very clean and organized for the folks living there. Only difficulty is actually getting onto the unit. It’s locked up tight, but to get admitted there’s a locked door with 2 buzzers. Every time I or others try to get buzzed in, it is at least a 5-10 minute wait before someone opens the door. I understand the need to police the exit so folks don’t walk out, but there should be better way.

I can't say enough good things about Las Villas. I moved my brother in January during the covid pandemic and the entire staff has been totally professional and caring to his needs. He received both vaccines in the month of January way ahead of most visualities, He is in need of some special care and every one from the Office staff, front desk, nursing, house keeping and maintenance are always there when he needs help. He has never eaten so good in his life the food he says is excellent. We Only assume that living there will just get better once everything gets back to normal. The staff Im sure is under tremendous pressure and they still remain friendly and caring . I would highly recommend Las Villa to anyone needing assisted living.

My mother was 96 years old with dementia. She had started to manifest sundowning behavior and running out of the house at midnight. My sister had developed seizures from not getting enough sleep. It was a sad moment when my sister and I had to decide that mom needed to be 1) safe in a place equipped with wander guard, 2) be cared for by staff who specializes in dementia, 3) be with residents with the same mental affliction, not mixed with Assited Living or Acute care residents. 3 days after Mom became a resident of Generations facility, visiting was restricted due to Covid. In the following months which felt like forever, the Director of Generations Memory Care, the Meds Staff, the Nurses did a great job of maintaining the communication open between my mom and me by calling me (since she had lost the ability to remember how to use the phone) whenever she needed to talk to me or to hear reassurance when shes scared or confused. All the Caregivers, Nurses and Med Techs addressed her by her first name or by "mother" or "sister" translated in our native tongue and gave her lots of hugs and loving words of reassurance. Her Caregiver would sit with her in her room whenever she gets free time and engage her in conversation because mom was shy and had a tendency to isolate herself. Even the facility Chef and dietary staff went out of their way to ask how she was and engage her in conversation whenever they passed her by sitting on a couch along the corridor outside her room so she would feel connected and visible and acknowledged. Everyone did a great job of monitoring her and informing me about the changes in her behavior and health or calling me whenever she looked like she needed to be taken to the doctor or hospital. They sent me pictures of her participating in activities to ease our minds that she is adjusting to the transition. Their compassion and dedication became even more apparent when my mother transitioned to hospice care when she was getting showered with visits, loving wishes and gentle care and provided support for me and my sister as well everyday from the staff until the day she departed. We felt that their service extends to the whole family and not just their residents. Saying goodbye is never easy, but it eases the pain a little more knowing that your loved one spent her final days being treated with dignity and respect. My 96 year old mother and 103 year aunt were both residents at the facility. They were in different wings because of the type of care they required. The first comment I would make is the facility is well staffed, caring and very professional in the care of their residents. The place is clean and well maintained. The dining area is welcoming and the food service is very good. A nice variety of meals are available so that you can have meals tailored to your loved ones. For those who are able to join in to activities they have a reading club, workout group, bingo, and reading available. It is always hard when you have to take a loved one from their home but when I found Las Villas Del Norte I knew we had made the right decision. If you are looking for a place where your loved one gets the right care, then I would encourage you to take the time and visit this facility. My mom has since passed but my 103 year old aunt is still thriving. Good luck and God bless.

I usually don't write reviews, but I feel this is so important to share. In regards to a friend who recently moved to Heartland Village Memory Care, I would love to express my gratitude for the excellent care she has been receiving. Before residing here, she would just stare while being spoken to, without engaging much with her visitors; but now, after only residing here for about two months, there's a noticeable response from her. She appears to follow conversations so well these days. There's such a difference in the alertness of her eyes. Also, there's an immense difference in the edema in her legs, which used to be greatly swollen, to the point of feeling hard; now, however, her legs are back to a normal condition. For these reasons, as well as others, I am so very happy with the wonderful care she has been experiencing here at Las Villas del Norte. I couldn't be happier, and look forward to seeing even more physical and cognitive improvements. Thanks so much to the memory care staff! I truly believe you have made ALL the difference in quality of many lives!!

We moved my parents from another senior residence after my father needed too much care (about $6000 a month for just him) to stay at the old site. My father sustained a back fall at another senior living site in Escondido, experienced broken back ribs in December 2015. His physical therapy occurred at a different site. I started to look for a site that could care for each of my two parents different needs that don't necessarily change at the same time. My father was and still on a walker. I didn't want to keep moving them from site to site, as their health changed. I wanted them together as they have been for 69 years. Las Villas has independent, assisted living, a skilled nursing health unit and a memory care unit. From Feb 2016, they lived in Las Villas Assisted Living together in a one bedroom which served them initially but their health changed due aging, falls and memory deterioration. They moved into two separate nearby studios in Las Villas Assisted Living until my mother's bad fall which injured her neck along with a diagnosis of Dementia. My mother remained in the Las Villas Skilled nursing health unit for two months. My father was still able to visit her every day (from Feb 2015), whether we were there or not. He has an attendant whenever he leaves his room and every two months, costs and needs are assessed and adjustments are made accordingly. My mother ended up as a resident in Heartland, a Las Villas memory care unit since she needed extended care due to her cervical collar and wheelchair as well as the very good Dementia Treatment Plan at Las Villas. She has been there since October of 2016. So I guess I can say that there a few blips here and there which are mostly due to medication availability since we use the Veteran's Administration no cost medical system which mails the medications. Our family is very involved sharing visits every two days to give both parents our help and companionship. The staff at Las Villas is very caring, truly interested in providing not just medical care, but the things that fuel the soul, the family and leave both parents feeling like this is their home. They call the Las Villas family, 'their other family', and I find that very telling. There are many many activities that are arranged that have truly helped our family be like it has always been...close. As my mother and father drift closer to twilight, I can still see them happy. I guess I could tell you the usual, that they've never had bedsores, always smell fresh (Mom has incontinent care), enjoy most of the food (there's a lot of choice which meets their specific diets (diabetic, low sodium and a mechanical chop for Mom). The admin staff are knowlegable, the med staff competent, the activity staff creative and the entertainment's much more than other places. I looked at about 18 places in San Diego before we chose this place. I'll keep you posted if our satisfaction changes. My husband's mother is in assisted living in another state and it is much more expensive, for less care. Thank you Las Villas Del Norte Staff, you know who we are!!

My mother has been in assisted living residence at Las Villas Del Norte since Oct of 2015. She is so very happy and so am I. I cant tell you how wonderful it is to know that your loved one is (and feels) safe, secure, happy, cared for and respected - consistently treated with kindness and compassion. My mom is extremely elderly, has some dementia (progressive) but is still fiercely independent, and interested in her life. I don't know why there are any negative reviews about this facility. Life is not perfect anywhere - just like living at home, minor "stuff" can happen. If you want inhuman perfection and a guarantee of paradise every second of the day, then by all means, go to heaven. Otherwise, according to my Mom and from what I have experienced when visiting, come to Las Villas Del Norte for a really good alternative. I want to publicly thank Mary Conlen (sp?) for reaching out to us at a time when my mom wouldn't entertain the thought of moving to assisted living - her emails and encouragement brought us to the facility where we were greeted by Marie Hill, the lovely reception staff, Cindy Neidrich (Nursing), and many others - all who's warmth and hospitality brought my mother willingly into their care. A miracle! My mom has been in residence ever since and she tells me daily "this is it, I never want to move". Thanks very much to Marie, Helen, reception, Tim, Cindy and the nursing station staff in the building where my Mom resides for all they do for Mom. She loves the food and choice of 2 dining centers. The food is actually very good - very much home cooking style and not fancy which is exactly what my Mom likes. She trusts the nursing staff and all other staff implicitly and I have no reason to doubt her trust. I couldn't ask for better care of my loved one. If Mom scrapes her elbow, I get a call which is what I want. From the nursing stations, to the staff in the admin office, reception, housekeeping and dining departments, all provide daily, attentive care. If I have a concern or my Mom needs anything addressed, the response is immediate and helpful. The grounds are beautiful and perfectly maintained. There are daily opportunities to participate in various activities and events that are healthy, interesting and social. It's up to my mom to choose her level of interaction - just as if she were living and managing her life at home. The staff do not push, they just invite and encourage. If you are looking for a assisting living service philosophy that respects the dignity and autonomy of the person while accommodating their handicaps with courtesy, kindness and respect, provides excellent skilled care tailored to the individual's needs, then come to this facility. PS The only reason I haven't given a 5 star review is that, in my mom's apartment, only minimal housekeeping services are provided - floors, bathroom, sinks etc. to the level of care we have chosen perhaps. I have to clean the refrigerator and shelving and dusting when I visit.

My Dad recently celebrated his 90th birthday and nearly 1 1/2 years as a happy resident at Las Villas Del Norte. After a very difficult, tearful search for a facility, I was pleasantly surprised by the warm, welcoming staff and overall condition of the facility at Las Villas. The Assisted Living facility is always clean. They even have a wall of honor for veterans in the lobby, which made my Dad, a WWII veteran, feel very comfortable. When I walked in, met the staff and had the tour, I was sold! My Dad, a long-time widower, lived with me and my family for many years, however, we were not always at home and he needed extra attention after going through 2 major surgeries and dealing with memory issues. He absolutely loved sitting in our backyard enjoying the sun for most of the day, however he would forget to eat, even though we would leave notes for him and prepared food. Las Villas del Norte has something that most other facilities do not have...a lovely large green courtyard area. Everyone knows that my Dad spends most of his time out there. I felt that it would be a perfect fit for him and it has proven to be. He enjoys sitting out in the sun and there is the extra benefit of daily interacting with the super friendly staff, other residents and their pets. I no longer have to worry whether or not he has taken his meds or eaten! I also enjoy attending the volunteer-run church service held at the facility on Sunday afternoons with him and participating in the various celebrations that the facility's staff thoughtfully coordinates throughout the year. During my facility search and numerous conversations with many others who are going through similar searches/life transitions with their parents, I found that every situation is different. Everyone has various priorities when placing their loved ones in 24-hour care. Mine were safety, cleanliness, friendliness, peacefulness, contentment, location and affordability. I must say that our family is very thankful and happy that my Dad has a place to call home! His caring "family" at Las Villas allows me and my family to sleep well at night knowing that my Dad is in good hands. I am fortunate to live only 20 minutes away, so I try to visit 2 or more times a week. During my visits, I notice that the staff is consistently friendly and the facility is always clean. My sibling and other family members who live out of state and visit are also very impressed. Of course, NO ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY is perfect, however, if you are looking for the fit that I was seeking, you have found your match! I found my five-stars of perfection at Las Villas Del Norte and I'm very blessed with that decision!

My mother lived at Las Villas Del Norte for about three years. She never had a bad day. If you have a loved one who is social, they will blossom at Las Villas. It is a very nice facility. The grounds are beautiful and well kept with a nice pool. My Mom had a one bedroom place on the third floor with a nice balcony that overlooked the courtyard. She loved it and always felt secure. The staff actively encourages all the residents to participate in the activites, bingo, ice cream socials, sing alongside, day trips, movies, etc. They were all friendly and accommodating. If you have a family member who needs a little extra care I highly recommend this facility.

My 79 year old mother has lived there for a little over a year now in the Assisted Living part of Las Villas Del Norte. In the 15 months she has lived there and the 40 or more visits I have made to see my mother, every single visit to date, reaffirms what a great decision we (her family) made by having my mother live there. My mother was living in her own home alone, with increasing dementia issues. Her safety around the house with stairs, her deteriorating hygiene, her poor mobility and lack of movement, her increasingly poor diet and overall well-being was clearly declining and I needed to make an immediate decision for my mother's own good. Today, 15 months later, my mother looks 10 years younger. Her hair, skin, eyes, mobility, hygiene, attitude and overall happiness are amazing and totally positive. My peace of mind knowing mom is safe, happy, healthy and sincerely cared for by all staff in all departments to me is priceless. Las Villas Del Norte has consistently fulfilled their promises to me, those of a clean, well maintained, safe place for Mom to live, while providing services at a high level of quality/excellence and as importantly, sincerity of care from all of the staff. All areas of the assisted living services, attentive personal daily care, housekeeping, laundry, daily meds service, 3 meals/day, activities, facility maintenance and so on, have met and exceeded my high expectations. The few minor request I've made, were received, welcomed and addressed to my satisfaction immediately. Everyone makes mistakes from time to time, the real test of quality and caring is: how promptly and accurately do they solve those mistakes? I give Las Villas Del Norte an AAA+ score for listening to any concerns I have ever had and getting those issues resolved immediately. All staff, in all areas, work very hard and are totally committed to complete resident safety and satisfaction. The value my mother receives far exceeds what she pays. We looked at many other Assisted Living facilities and none are even close to comparable, but you never know until you're moved in what you're really going to get. After 15 months, Mom is very comfortable in her new home, happy and healthy, and and me..., I have peace of mind DAILY. Thank you all at Las Villas Del Norte for loving and taking care of Mom!! I recently (July 2016) worked with Las Villas on an apartment for an older relative. They were great to work with, very understanding and my relative loves the place along with the food. The staff is very friendly and went out of their way to work with my scheduled.
