I've been volunteering in the recreation department at Lewis Estates for years now, and have had nothing but positive experiences. The staff, especially Kailey, make volunteering here so educational and enjoyable. I've truly learned more volunteering here than I have in any other work or volunteer experience. The recreation stuff significantly better the mental and physical health of all residents.

I was at Optima to do a presentation telling stories from my books. Not only was I impressed at how professional they were in providing my audio and video needs, but in the way they treated their residents. As I set up my show, I observed how they had time for someone who had questions, and how they were so caring in helping those with mobility issues get to their seats. At each place I speak, the newsman in me privately asks a few people questions about their choice of where to spend their golden years. (I am thinking of my own future). At some places I have heard things that caused to me to ask management if they were aware of these concerns. At Optima, however, every person I asked seemed happy, and gave me a totally positive response. As one lady said to my wife and I, "They really look after us here!"

Extremely friendly staff and a great recreation program! Optima living Lewis estates really puts care into everything they provide for the residents of Lewis estates. With close by amenities, close enough for seniors to walk to, it really helps promote independent living and socialization! the building itself is large with many things for the residents to do, including a pool which they encourage grandkids to come and swim which is great! Staff is always available to help with any questions or needs and bonus, fur babies allowed!!

I recently moved to Lewis Estates from another retirement home. The food here is so much better and appealing. The dining room has really tall ceilings and high windows making for a bright cheerful atmosphere. The suites have individual heat and air conditioning which is awesome. Rooms have really good soundproofing. The balconies are wheelchair accessible. There are activities throughout the day which you can participate in as many as you want. At my previous residence there was a bus that once a week would take residents on outings. We were charged to ride on the bus. Moving here I had seen a similar bus plus a mini van. I thought like my previous residence the bus would be used for group outings with a charge. Much to my amazement the bus and minivan are used to take residents to appointments at no charge. The bus is also used for shopping trips and Sunday drives, no charge. I'm really happy i moved here it's a very nice place.

My parents have been residents for 4 plus years and although this past year has been such a challenge to keep the staff and employee's healthy, it has been an amazing residence for them to be in! Not only does the staff have to face the uncertainties of the pandemic in public but they have to do the best they possibly can to make life as enjoyable as possible while still keeping social distance measures for all. Not an easy task at times. From the wellness and recreation teams doing there utmost to keep everyone entertained, full of nutritional treats, keeping the mind and soul fed through games and exercise. Or from the kitchen staff going above and beyond making meals that satisfy and please as many as possible, cleaning staff keeping the place clean and sanitized so the dr's and nurses have less illnesses to heal. And management having to co-ordinate the near impossible task of keeping the kids on the outside updated with news of the goings on which incredibly has been very few positive cases! I highly recommend touring this facility knowing how incredibly hard they work to create a positive living and working environment for all!

Excellent staffing. We had an issue with my Mom's room and the situation was handled extremely professionally. Tanya Degrace was exceptional, accommodating and fair. Along with Mike Jones they handled the issue with integrity, genuine concern and with a sense of urgency. Wonderful to deal with professionals that understand the idiosyncrasies of dealing with the elderly, the running of a business along with the concerns of their "customers" I will change this to a 5 Star upon completion of the issue. Great job guys !

Beautiful building, great recreational activities, gorgeous dining room, nice sized suites. Extremely clean and well maintained. Super friendly staff. Great menu options and portion sizes, awesome kitchen staff. Smiles everywhere from all the staff. Extremely expensive, not for the average senior on a fixed budget. Poor response time to emergency bell activation. Nursing staff were our major concern. Poor communication, missed physicians orders, lack of urgency to emergent situations. Lack of knowledge and critical thinking from the nurses. Didnt feel safe leaving mom there.

My biggest concern was that the emergency cords in my mother's suite did not work. Took 3 times to try and fix them. I pulled the cord, waited 15 minutes, called the front desk and someone came 35 minutes after. Mom had passed out. Not professional. Called to check on my Mom when I couldn't reach her. Told by front desk they do not check on independent residents. Yet their handbook states "our residents are our number one concern". After 45 minutes and three calls to the front desk someone went to check on her. Her ceiling leaked, a patch of it fell down and had water leaking. They said they would fix it in a "timely manner". It was two years later and only drywall tape was put over it. Increases every year in January of up to $200 a month. Every Sunday is grilled cheese sandwich for supper or grilled ham and cheese. Most of the arts and crafts have been cancelled, but there is coloring. The baking class was cancelled. No barbeques for the residents in the summer. Rice and Associates survey...asked for a year to find the results. They had to look into it. I found out myself they ranked Lewis Estates as nice facility but the food ranks at the bottom. Not worth the great amount of money for the service and meals you receive.

We recently toured Lewis Estates Retirement Residence to help a family member choose a retirement home. Our knowledgeable and gracious tour guide was Penny Phillips, Lifestyle Director. We very much appreciate the time she spent with us to showcase the Residence and answer our questions. Our first impression is that everything was very clean, bright, roomy, and modern. We toured the main floor as well as the third floor. The main entry area with adjacent library is inviting and would be a treat to come home to after outings catered to via shuttles operated by the Residence. The Edmonton Public Library has a book exchange program and they make weekly visits with informative presentations. Residents have healthy and delicious choices for their daily meals, prepared by an executive chef, and the main floor dining room is very spacious and nicely decorated. A well organised an accessible postal outlet is located on the main floor as well as a large family gathering room that can be booked for events. A spacious theatre, chapel, and pool (with twice weekly aquatic exercise programs) have marvellous design elements for use by the residents. Each suite is generously sized and comes with an outdoor balcony for summer use. Outdoors there are walking paths, a garden for residents to engage, a BBQ patio for summer enjoyment, and a generous green space around the residence. Everyone we met seemed genuinely happy.
