I have had a great experience in the year that I have lived at McDermott. Shiva, the Manager really cares about us and helps us all. I was worried I would not make friends, but Friday Happy Hour is the highlight of my week when we all get together. I would recommend moving here if you want to be with people your own age!

Occupancy does not seem to be enforced. 55+ community allows children and grandchildren to live with occupant in unit above me 3 - 4 days every week. Children are extremely noisy during the designated 'quite hours'. I have lived at McDermott 55 since Feb 2025, noise reported, no change yet.

Really love living here. It's perfect for me. Staff and maintenance are great, which is very important to me. I relocated here a few months ago, Iived in a 4 bedroom home needed just a 1 bedroom apt., big transition right!! I looked at several apartments all over. From the moment I walked into McDermott 55 office Alexis and Carrie were great! Leasing agent, Carrie was patient, friendly, answered questions, offerred me a great promotional package, etc. She showed me a couple apts. One she showed me immediately hit me and met all my expectations and I signed on the dotted line. I fell in love with my apartment!! McDermott 55 has everything I need and want. McDermott offers all kinds of fun and interesting activities for residents every month. Shuttle bus service is great. The residents are very friendly. Property Management does an excellent job responding to your concerns which reflect great teamwork. Property is well mantained. I really appreciate how clean and neat the common areas are, especially hallways, dumpster areas, etc. This area is very nice, easy access to all shopping and restaurants. Maintenance crew are professional and prompt to respond to your maintenance issue, no long waiting for response. My plan is to be a long term, permanent resident here. There are several apts. out here, but as far as I am concerned, these are the best ones for me. This is home for me!!

I moved with my family just last week, and soon we found it is really a great place to live. The ambience is great including our apartment, large community hall, media room, small community room and halls, and swimming pool. Every day there are very informative and entertaining programs, this results in a great community bond. The location is very convenient for shopping centers, restaurants, and hospitals. And not to forget professional, concerned, caring staff members.

Have been here a year plus. Needs a lot of improvement-unmarked resident parking, no ramps for the residents who are senior citizens to get their carts inside the building. 05/26/2024 : There has been improvement after the property has changed hands. The property manager is open to ideas from residents and is doing a better job. Hope this continues. 03/09/2025: Resident parking continues to be concern.Lot's of non-residents parking in the resident parking spots.The management does not monitor and enforce towing, this encourages the rule breakers to go scot-free,putting senior citizens to considerable hardship during rain and cold weather.

I live in McDermott Crossing which is another building with the McDermott 55 properties here in Plano. I love living here The staff is great The rent is reasonable and it caters to seniors and the needs that they have. It's one of the best places I've ever lived.

One is always afraid of CHANGE. Anxiety comes over us, with just the thought of moving. Here at McDermott is not where the elderly come to retire. This is where the Semi Elderly make their home. Yes we are the one's who have gone from the telephone with the operator for long-distance calls, to video calls to anywhere in the world. We have gone from slides to YouTube, from vinyl records to online music, from handwritten letters to email and WhatsApp. From live matches on the radio, to black and white TV, and then color to HDTV. We have been called the "xennials" people who had an analog childhood and a digital adulthood. We're kind of Ya-seen-it-all. Our generation has literally lived through and witnessed more than any other in every dimension of life. It is our generation that has literally adapted to "CHANGE". So don't be afraid or nervous, pack your bag and make yourself at home here at McDermott. You will find that you will not only be welcome by the McDermott TEAM, but all of your neighbors as well. This is a nice community in a great location. The staff is friendly and helpful. Bethany and her staff work hard to make this more than just a place to live for the residents, especially by organizing several events to encourage togetherness and socialization amongst the residents. This is my first review of McDermott 55. I have been a resident here for 1 1/2 years. I am most pleased with the professional management of this community. The maintenance crew has always responded with in hours of each request. I would recommend this community to anyone who searches for a 55 and over housing. Community. I can't tell anyone not to move here, however if u want quiet, u are not going to get it here. Residents have grandkids here all hours of day and night in the pool. Management does nothing as u can have 2 guests- that should be adult guests. Residents do not care how much noise they make. The water aerobics instructor on Tuesday/Thursday mornings plays music loud enough for whole city of Plano to hear. I asked management to speak to her to not have it so loud, it did not happen. New management took over must be 4 months now, waiting on their "promises" for the improvements. Maintenance is responsive to getting requests done in a timely mattter. I don't go to the happy hours on Friday anymore or the potluck 1— month. The bus driver Dennis does a great job I hear in transporting people on scheduled outings- Dr.'s appointments, shopping, lunch places for those who sign up. Positive, location. I have lived here 9 months, I can't convince my companion to move when our lease is up.

The community feeling here is incredible. Everyone, from day one, has been welcoming! They greet you in the halls, they stop and chat, they wave when you walk by. The management is incredibly warm and friendly! The green areas and open areas are beautiful to walk through. Something interesting in every direction.

My experience at McDermott 55 Crossing has been outstanding and a breath of fresh air. The apartments themselves are first class as are the tenants at the community. Management has been outstanding as well, and Shelly, Jasmine and Bethany are very professional and care very much about the security, safety and the feelings of the tenants at Crossing. Moving here was a great experience and would not hesitate to refer friends and family to come and llive at McDermott 55 as my experience here has been genuinly rewarding.Maintenance at the apartments is also 5 star service as they attend to the service calls quickly and resolve most all of the issues on the first call.

I recently moved here and it’s a really nice and clean place. They’re having a special offer currently that they give free rent till the end of the year (for November, December) with waiving admin, deposit, and application fees. The customer service at the office is 100%, from Bethany, Jasmine, and even the manager, they were very welcoming and very respectful. I feel very glad for finding this apartment.

Having lived at McDermott Park for 22 months, I have observed the work of two managers prior to Shelly Johnson. At first, I was skeptical! Well is a very short time Shelly has proved she is outstanding! She and her team have improved maintenance, social activities, interaction with residence with special emphasis on asking for comments to understand what we feel are important issues so she could take proper action to improve our life experience. The pool is much cleaner, the food & beverage service at happy hours is better, the speed bump at our driveway is a big step toward better safety and the inter house mail cubbies now on order will further improve our already improved communications. I moved into McDermott Park last February. I haven't lived in an apartment in over 40 years but I didn't want to take care of a house anymore and I was becoming a hermit after my wife died. I like it here! I've made a lot of new friends and have a great apartment that has a terrific view of the pool. We all get together for parties, games, etc. These are nice people and I'm proud to be with them.

My husband and I have lived here since October, 2018. We looked at quite a few +55 apartment communities before we sold our home in CARROLLTON. When we came here my husband said this is it! We love the freshness of the colors and Jennifer Sorrells helped us find the perfect apartment with a beautiful view from our third floor balcony. This active community of adults get together often even if it is just to play games or have our weekly tea and cookies. I try to meet all of the residents who live here and I have made friends with most. All people over the age of 55 are welcome! My husband and are are both 72 years young. The people we know here support each other and watch out for each other. The decision to move to McDermott Park was a great one for us!

My mother was a resident of McDermott Crossing for the past year. It was a big change for her moving from a 4-bedroom house to an apartment. Almost immediately she made friends with residents and attended the social events. It was so great for me to see her enjoying herself. The staff is personable and caring, very helpful. Resort style amenities, beautiful grounds, the apartments are quite nice. The facility is clean and safe. This is the type of place anyone would like to retire to. Most residents are nice and welcoming and the complex has a lot of activity. Pets are also welcomed. It's a great community, would highly recommend for independent living.

We have had nothing but a very positive experience thus far at McDermott Crossing. We have lived here for 3 months and it has been fantastic. We are very happy we received a flyer in the mail of this place, it has been nothing but a joy. Everyone is very friendly and helpful.
