Sue Lee here, just giving Villages of lake highlands a shout out. Thursday nights at Elk lodge, is bingo night. A group of elderly women come to play at the bingo hall and I've noticed a big improvement in their person and capability since they been coming. I had no idea how dedicated this nursing home is until I ask the staff why they come. Simply put, they enjoy and look forward to it. Keep it up ladies! We all need something to look forward too.

We have been working with The Villages of Lake Highlands for over 4 years. Two parents and a family friend with no living relatives who asked us to take care of her affairs. We've worked with Villages through COVID, in Memory Care, and through hospice. Although we've been there a while, it still catches me off guard each time I meet someone new, explain who our loved ones are, and hear "Oh! I know them! They are sooo funny! I just love seeing them!!" I'm talking about people from reception, to the front office, to the nurses and care givers on the halls. The folks at Villages are outstanding. There have even been multiple occasions where I've seen care givers dancing with our loved ones to the music being played in the common area (that is quite a sight!). On our side, one of the bigger concerns I had going in was keeping all the money straight. There's a lot going on with insurance and just paying for the facility. Missy in the business office makes all the concerns go away! And, when you are considering Villages, I would make your first call to Adam Koll. Adam is one of the Directors of the facility and among the most knowledgeable and kindest individuals you will ever meet. He makes things move at Villages! The remarkable thing about Adam is that I have also seen him carrying a mop and manning the reception desk too. He is a servant leader who serves both his residents and his team. Seriously, get to know him! Finally, just a general thought on working with a facility like Villages. Remember that these folks are helping you with caring for your loved ones who are there because their bodies are breaking down. It's an imperfect situation. The folks at Villages approach that imperfect situation with expertise, grace, passion, and compassion. They will adopt your loved one and partner with you to provide excellent care. Go into the new partnership with an expectation that everyone at Villages is on your side and choose to be on their side too. Our experience is that they become a part of your extended family and that's a GREAT feeling!

My mom had knee replacement surgery last year and did her inpatient rehab here. She was truly grateful for the services and care provided by the staff. She particularly said the physical therapy she received helped her tremendously! So much so, that she's having the other knee replacement surgery and plans to go back again. Thank you all for taking great care of my mother! See you soon!

We could not have chosen a more loving facility for our mother's final months. She lived at the Villages for 8 months and passed on 2/3/24. We were surrounded by staff that cried and prayed with us during her final days. Her favorite "entertainer" that we called "The Cowboy Guy" was playing for another hall and the nurse told him mom was declining fast and he came and played to her personally by her bedside. The entire staff enveloped us with love right up till the end. We miss them. We miss the residents and how they loved and cared for our mom. Leta, Patsy and Beth

We came from a nursing facility we loved that unfortunately was closing. Skilled nursing is not profitable and they could not financially continue to operate. Sadly, we began to look at multiple skilled nursing facilities to find a home for my mom. After looking at all the options (We looked at some very expensive options!) The Villages of Lake Highlands was our best option and financially affordable. We were in for a wonderful surprise! We love it here! Mom is actually doing better here than the old facility. Her room is light and happy. The staff is doing a good job caring for her.Everyone we have met is kind. Cinnamon does a great job including her in activities. Mom's birthday party was amazing! There was even a violinist and cheesecake just for her. We are so pleased and grateful for all of the staff here. By the way, my husband is a retired geriatric doctor and has worked in nursing homes for over 30 years. He rates this facility as a strong 5 stars!

Everything was outstanding. The doctor, nurses, aides, therapists provided excellent care with patience, kindness and positivity. Care was proactive and prompt. Communication was excellent. Great meals. Beautiful setting, very clean. Everyone went above and beyond, with smiles on their faces. They turned a hard and discouraging health situation into a very positive one with a great outcome. Highly recommend!

I came here from three weeks in the hospital unable to walk. This facility deserves more than five stars for their awesome therapy department. I cannot say enough positive things about the encouraging staff. I will be ready to go home after one more week. I am so grateful to Melissa and her team. A big thanks to Christine Cooper for encouraging me to come to this facility for the excellent therapy. Thanks to you all.

As a Hospice provider visiting with patients at the Villages of Lake Highlands every family has had great things to say about this facility and their attentive and caring staff!! They are great to work with and truly provide great rehab and long term care.

My experience at the Villages of Lake Highlands has been very positive. If I have another illness and need rehabilitation I will be back. The physical facility is lovely and welcoming. From the moment you enter the staff is friendly and helpful. I have been here for rehabilitation for 2 weeks. When I arrived, I was unable to stand or go to the toilet alone. I quickly realized therapy is what the patient makes of it. I went from depression and tears of frustration to a positive attitude. The nursing, aids and therapy staff were all instrumental in my change of attitude. The staff with whom I've worked have been excellent. Happy and positive staff set the tone daily. I want to thank nurses Lydia, Joseph and Matt. The aides are very kind and I thank Pat, Marcie,Amanda, Dee and Rachel for their kindness and care. Ashley works hard as activities director. She has visited daily to tell me about activities and events. I cannot praise the therapy staff enough. Melissa the administrator sets a positive and approachable tone. I had Occupational Therapy with Cole & Melissa who have been exceptional, creative and project a positive, you can do it attitude. My Physical Therapy has been primarily Abraham with assists from Michelle and Eli. Abraham has prepared me for typical tasks I will deal with in my home. He and Cole have worked together to strengthen my body, endurance and confidence. I am so grateful to these exceptional positive professional young men. I believe rehabilitation is greatly dependent on what we as patients and family make of it. The Villages at Lake Highlands will give patients everything needed to recover and restore good health. I also want to compliment Dr Tranh (sp?) and her PA who listen and work positively with me. I am grateful to the administrative staff especially the nurse administrators who are frequently in the hallways, dining room and visiting patient rooms. I found everyone very approachable and helpful with my concerns starting with Christine Cooper. I believe the most significant recommendation I can give is that this will be my first choice if I require rehab in the future. For now I offer my sincere thanks to the staff at Villages at Lake Highlands.
