I was in there for a month because I needed 3 infusions per day. I am able to care for myself but the infusions needed a skilled nurse preferably an RN. There was only one on duty any time for the whole place and of course she was only there when it was her shift. They hire many Agency nurses or traveling nurses. Most are not trained and they could care less about their jobs. They come and go from other towns, some even from out of state. I had to supervise their work and of course some resented me telling them how to do their job but it was my life. On one occasion I had to show the nurse where the meds were. She had the keys. Also, I had one nurse start the wrong medication and I caught it before any harm was done. Another time they didn't have the medication in stock and it had to be ordered from the pharmacy which was out of town. My infusion was about 8 hours late that time. As for the food, it was not good to say the least, and I happen to be on a gluten free diet. I had to make do with whatever they were serving that was naturally gluten free because they made it clear that they don't do special diets. I have no idea what other residents did if they had health issues which restricted what they ate. I don't have much good to say about anything at the facility but I would like to emphasize that there are some of the regular staff and workers that were outstandingly good and competent and very caring. My heart goes out to them and some of them I left feeling sad to say goodbye. I plan to go back and visit some of them. I wish I could make life better for some of the residence. It was a real eye opener for me to see how sad it is for some of the residence . They are in my thoughts and prayers.

The best place I've ever worked.

I recently had someone close to me stay at RHHR for 3 weeks to receive needed physical therapy. I expected a rocky start given her personality but, the RHHR staff did everything within their means to accommodate her needs. I know it wasn't easy and RHHR never once complained. When I visited her, I always observed attentive staff. I found one employee braiding her hair which made her feel loved. Kevin, her nurse, learned she needed to stay busy so he had her help monitor his hallway, write a report and turn it in. My friend was so happy as she felt valued. She loved all the personalized attention and when she had to stay a little bit longer, there was no push-back. It was beautiful to see her smile all the time. Thank you to the RHHR management, clinical and support teams for addressing all her needs to include ensuring she has a safe transition home. She's back home now and bored.
