At first we were reluctant, then we came to the realization that Independent Living was the next logical step in the aging process. We were so impressed with the new Fieldstone Villas, the clubhouse and the overall Otterbein Sunset Village campus; we had to investigate further. The economics made sense, the activities available were plentiful and the residents we met were friendly and sociable. In addition, the staff are knowledgeable, dedicated, helpful, pleasant and always upbeat people to be with. I recently made the difficult decision to place my husband in assisted living for safety reasons. I researched many assisted living communities and at the end of my discussion with Heather and completion of my tour, I immediately knew I had found the place most appropriate for him. The staff, aides, nurses and maintenance personnel we met along the tour were so warm and caring and it was obvious that they enjoyed their jobs, environment and those they cared for. You could see that the residents also felt "at home". The transition was very smooth and happened within just a few days as my need was urgent and they understood that and worked with me to make it happen. My husband is also receiving physical and occupational therapy which I would rate 5 star. The activities are engaging and well attended. I won't say that my husband doesn't want to come home, as we all know there is no place like home. However, he loves his aides and nurses, doesn't complain about the food and he is safe. I sleep well at nights knowing there are caring, loving and competent people caring for him.

Things are going so good for my dad. I'm so relieved! I feel like we finally found the right level of care for him. I think he is adjusting so well. He is less anxious because he has things to do and he loves the food and all of the staff. I think he will come out of his shell a bit more as he gets acclimated. He's starting to participate in a few activities and he's been in a great mood lately! Thank you and your staff for all you do!

After my visit to Sunset Village I am confident in saying it is a Beautiful home-like community with so much to offer. I really liked the huge therapeutic gym and resistance swimming pool. My 92 year old dad came to Sunset Village after having a stroke. It was the best decision I have ever made for my dad. They are more than just wonderful! They treat my dad as though he was their grandpa! They definitely go way beyond was most facilities do. I am aware of what other facilities do because my dad had been in 2 facilities prior to Submit Village. He loves there food they have a actual chef and the food is fantastic! My dad has actually gained weight since being at Sunset Village. He loves dessert and often the give him two. Everyone there whether they are in his neighborhood knows his name and speak to him by name, when he first came there my dad would say to me how do they know my name. They have special activities and go on outings and your loved one is take very well care of . The best decision I made was choosing Sunset Village for my dads home! I can walk out the door ever time I leave knowing my dad is well taken care of . My daughter mentioned to me that they take better care of him they I could! Thank you to everyone at Sunset Village for the great care for my dad and the piece of mind for me!

Our building and campus are a beautiful place to live with lots of activities to keep our residents having a good time. I would recommend Sunset always. My mother came to Otterbein Sunset Village rehab after a hospital stay to get her strength back. She was already residing at another assisted living in Sylvania Twp, so we were well-versed in senior living. I myself worked at the same community. We both were so impressed with the care and attention to detail from the first day at Otterbein Sunset Village. First, the food was delicious and consistently good, day in and day out. The PT/OT/Speech therapists were top notch, and put together a customized care plan to get her back to her old assisted living. And the nurses and aides were kind and genuinely caring. And then we started to realize that mom should move into Otterbein Sunset Village assisted living! So we put that in motion, and she transitioned out of rehab into her own apartment! It was just remodeled, had new carpeting and kitchen appliances, wide doors that accommodate a walker, great sit down shower with easy access, plus great natural light! She's been there a few months now and just loves it! She's made new friends, goes to all kinds of activities, still gets weekly PT from the same great team, and even exercises on her own! IT'S LIKE THE CLOCK WAS TURNED BACK 10 YEARS FOR MY MOM!!! We are so fortunate to have found Otterbein Sunset Village (and we weren't even looking!)

I'm grateful for the care and attention that my parents received (and are still receiving) from Otterbein Sunset. They started out in a beautiful villa. The staff alerted us when the need for more care became necessary. We then moved them to assisted living and a few months later my Dad needed to be moved to the memory care unit on campus. Before each move, the Sunset Village staff was in contact with family, keeping us abreast of our parents' status, and making recommendations for the best placement to meet their changing needs. It's so nice knowing that everything is on the same campus. For example, it was a short walk for Mom to visit Dad while he was in the memory unit, making it very easy for her to see him on the night he died. I have observed the staff being very friendly and engaging with my Mom. Sunset Village has provided me and my siblings peace of mind as we know Mom is in a beautiful place where she is happy and well cared for.

The staff truly care about their residents, they have gone above and beyond to make my mother-in-law feel cared for and welcomed. They have gotten to know her and go out of their way to involve and engage her. She has even been able to rediscover a lifelong passion of playing the piano and they have given her the opportunity to perform for other residents on a number of occasions. They offer a variety of fun and engaging activities daily. I am so grateful to the caring staff at OSV!

The Sunset Village Community has been a wonderful asset in helping in our transitional experience. The villas are lovely, comfortable, small homes for independent seniors. The staff is very efficient and right there whenever a need arises.Activities abound for those interested. When more help was needed, the ability to move (on site) to assisted living was so appreciated. The apartments are clean and cozy with many options to assist someone as needed.The staff is very attentive, caring and professional. The Sweet Shop is a real treat! My elderly mother recently suffered her second fall within the last 5 months and had to go to rehabilitation for an extended time directly from the hospital. How fortunate we were that we were able to get her into Sunset Village for this rehab! Their facility is beautiful and the staff was excellent during her rehabilitation. The nurses were all so nice and understanding and the the therapists were top notch and very good at working with her. However, it is the admissions process to become a resident of Otterbein Sunset Village, that I really wish to comment about. Heather was the admissions representative assigned to our case to inform me of the process and requirements of getting my mother accepted as a resident into the assisted living section of Sunset Village. She went, above and beyond, in coordinating with the local Area Office of Aging in ensuring that the necessary assessments and forms were completed before the vacancy at Sunset disappeared. I must also commend the staff at the AOA, especially Victoria, for their diligence in expeditiously processing her assessment and communicating such to Sunset. Sunset and the AOA essentially did all the work for me in what I thought was going to be a long and arduous process. We are so pleased and thankful that my mom is now a resident at Otterbein Sunset Village. I no longer have the constant worry for her safety and know she now has a wonderful quality of life. Her apartment looks beautiful and she has other large seating areas in which to visit with others or sit down and read a book. The food is excellent and she can get room service or join other residents in the beautiful dining room. Walking into the building and proceeding to her apartment is always such a positive experience and makes me feel that I have done the very best I can do for my mom now that she can no longer live alone...something I had worried about for years before. In short, I cannot sat enough positive things about the accommodations at Otterbein Sunset Village, their entire staff, and their kind and professional way of doing business. I've visited Sunset Village many times since joining Otterbein SeniorLife last summer but at a sister community. This campus is beautifully set on a large scenic campus while close to the amenities a person would access. The therapy space is amazing, best in class, including great aquatic and occupational space. Fieldstone Villas offer a perfect independent setting for maintenance free offerings and a neighborhood of people to connect with. This is worth your visit if you are considering a mover!

My parents moved into Fieldstone Villas when they became available a few years ago. We had previously looked at a variety other options but felt Sunset Village was clearly the best choice for them and it has worked out very well. The campus is a good size with plenty of open space, ponds, nice views, and safe areas for walking. The staff are great and it's obvious they care. There is a friendly, informal, almost family-like atmosphere which our family truly appreciates. With every level of senior care available on this campus, it's a comfort knowing that my parents can be well cared for long term, without having to move to a different location or transfer to another organization.
