I don’t usually write reviews, but the team at McCrite truly earned this one. Since January 2026, my mom has gone through an extremely difficult stretch ” 2 surgeries, 3 hospital stays, post-surgical delirium, a wound vacuum twice, skilled nursing twice, and a lot of uncertainty. Moving from skilled nursing to assisted living is a big step, and today she is finally making that transition. I honestly could not be more grateful for how the McCrite staff handled every part of this journey. The nursing staff, nurse practitioners, therapists, and the social worker/case manager in skilled nursing were beyond outstanding. This was a painful and stressful time, and they consistently treated my mom with compassion, patience, and professionalism. They kept me informed, answered questions, and genuinely cared about her progress. I met with Patrice Pitts, Director of Marketing for Assisted Living, in early March as my mom arrived at McCrite skilled nursing for the second time and she immediately stood out. She provided a thorough tour of the facility and, more importantly, walked me through how to navigate the transition from skilled nursing to assisted living. She made it clear that she and the McCrite team would be partners in helping my mom have the best quality of life possible going forward ” and she meant it. Every single team member ” both in skilled nursing and assisted living ” has had my mom’s best interest at heart. That’s not something you can fake. You feel it in how they talk to residents, how they respond to concerns, and how they support families during tough decisions. This has been a very hard few months, but McCrite made it easier. I’m thankful my mom is moving into assisted living surrounded by people who truly care. Five stars without hesitation.

I wanted to give a shout out to Ameline who directed a lot of the activities that my Mom has had the opportunity to participate in. She is an amazing person who has been so caring and sweet to my Mom. Ameline let us know she will be leaving McCrite which is sad and she will be greatly missed. This position is so important to all the residents. Important for their physical and mental skills, hoping McCrite replaces Ameline with another amazing caring person. Thank you.

My loved one has been at McCrite for over 3 years now. Activities have become an important part of his daily life. Amelie has been a huge contributor to helping him through some challenging times. She was able to get him to join many activities. Her sweet, caring, uplifting and calming personality truly shines through to each resident she comes in contact with. She is loved by all.

On 03/04/2026 my 79 year old mom and I toured McCrite with Alayne. I was immediately very impressed with McCrite as soon as I entered and was warmly greeted. Alayne was wonderful about explaining everything. She was easy to talk to and she answered all of our questions. We have toured about 10 different independent senior living places. McCrite was our top choice. We met the family owners during our tour, they were amazing people. When we left and discussed it we both decided on McCrite. The kindness and attention to our needs from Alayne, the staff, the building, and meeting the family owners made it an absolute easy choice. She signed the agreement on the next day.

My dad is currently here. He has 4 family members faithfully advocating for him. If not, he wouldn’t have his needs met. He pays a Big Fee$ to be here!! Meals are always short of at least 2 items. They didn’t deliver his dinner tonight. There’s More!! Can’t wait to have our Care Team Meeting !!! There are things Journal. Not happy!! Our dad & all here deserves top notch nursing care in Hospice!!! Top notch in All care types!!!

Alayne was very compassionate as we started our transition of independent living to assisted living for my mother. She guided us through the process, encouraging us to find the best community that will meet our needs. This was so very much appreciated. The Mccrite community and staff were all welcoming, friendly and the facility itself is attractive and full of amenities. Was not impressed at all. The building was very nice but the feel was not a pleasant experience. Seemed the primary focus was money, not the people. Seemed very money oriented and i get it’s a business and businesses need to be a business. But not to a point that the patient falls second. Supporting a friend looking for her dad and just was not trilled. Would rather pay their higher prices and see more personal affection. Staff were friendly but not all seemed happy about where they worked.

Since 2018 I have had positive experiences working with, and referring to, McCrite Plaza at Briarcliff. It is impressive how long some of their staff have worked at McCrite (6, 8, 10, 12+ years), which is hard to find in senior living. I hear positive feedback from my clients and contacts who are either at McCrite themselves or have a family member living there. Patrice, John, and Alayne are fantastic!

When it became evident our loved one would soon need assisted living, my daughter and I looked at all the facilities in the Northland and many of the more prominent in the rest of Kansas City. We chose McCrite Plaza at Briarcliff. A significant part of this was the outstanding reputation and reviews. Our choice of McCrite has been a good one. The facility is modern, clean, in a excellent neighborhood and has good views. The staff is caring, concerned and competent. The activities available for residents are comprehensive and plentiful. It has greatly helped our loved one adjust and stay engaged. A contued spectrum of services: independent living, several choices of assisted living, long term care, memory care and rehabilitation is a huge asset. We feel our loved one is getting the best care of all care. Unqualified recommendation.

My mother had a great experience staying here on the rehab side. She enjoyed the food and care from most of the staff. As for me dealing with some of the nurses on the rehabilitation side when it came to getting updates or calling to check in on my mother some nurses were very rude and always seemed too busy. After speaking with the director of nursing she handled the situation. I am honestly very grateful with how she handled the nurse who was extremely unpleasant to talk too , it made us feel better the nurse was not assigned to our loved one after our complaint. I would also like to give a huge thank you to the case worker for all her assistance and quick response time to anything we needed and to the male nurse Gene (agency nurse), he was so friendly, patient, detailed, organized, a pleasure to have as a nurse for our loved one. I like McCrite Plaza so far. I feel that the staff, at all levels, listens to my inquiries about my father, Marshall. I think, like any long term care facility, they have to deal with staff shortages, etc. Nothing is easy about growing older or navigating an illness, but I feel that they do their best to address my concerns. You can't ask for more than that. If I asked for more help tomorrow, I know they would help me out.

From the moment I walked into McCrite, Alayne Webb met with us and she was both gracious and very professional. She took over, did the impossible, and within a short period my mother was able to move in. Alayne was such a joy to work with and made a difficult situation as easy as possible. She is Amazing. Thank you to Alayne for making this happen and to the McCrite family for having such a lovely place and a wonderful staff that really cares. I am back in Washington now, knowing that my mother is very happy. A priceless gift.

The staff at McCrite took great care of my dad when he was there for short term rehab after a hospital stay. There are too many people to name here but you can tell that, as a whole, the staff really care about and want to help people and they work as a team to do so. The facility was also well-maintained and clean. Communication was good overall and they kept us informed of any changes or updates to his care as needed. If they didn't know something, they generally asked, and we took care of it together. I would highly recommend McCrite Plaza at Briarcliff for anyone needing short term therapies.

Can't say enough nice things about McCrite - about the facility, level of care, compassion from the staff. My mother started in independent living- and has transitioned to ALP. Every time my mom has a stay in the hospital - someone from their staff stops by to check in on her to let her know they are thinking about her. (Which REALLY means a lot!) I encourage everyone to checkout their Facebook page and Instagram - to see ALL of the activities they provide. My husbands parents are in a facility in Houston - and although the care seems good, they have absolutely nothing for them to do. My mom has been at McCrite for 3 years and have never been sorry we moved her there - I would like to give a special shout-out for a few people that have really touched our families heart! Thank you to Tom Wideman and Christina (music therapist) for always being there for all the residents ! I just see so much joy on the resident's faces when they spend time with them. Special thanks to Douglas (over on ALP) for the care he has given to my mother/. And Cassidy and Kayla on behalf of my sister - for always patient and understanding when we were moving my mom from point A to point B ! And lastly - to all the caregivers on ALP ... activity directors, receptionist's nursing staff, PT's & OT's - love everything about them.. (just don't know all their names) Thank you all very much!

My mother is a resident at McCrite Plaza at Briarcliff in assisted living. I went to visit her today and she was participating in a seated dance class led by Katie the Activities Director. I joined in the class to ensure mom didn’t stop! It was fun to participate with Mom and she laughed through the class. There is a place in heaven for those that choose to engage our loved ones as Katie does! We are fortunate to have Katie and I’m very grateful for the time she takes with all of the residents in assisted living, but most importantly my mom.

My Dad's been at McCrite for two weeks after being very ill in the hospital. I've never been more impressed with a facility. My Dad was so sick and weak. He was assessed very quickly by a team of very knowledgeable nurses and physical therapists. They started his rehabilitation day two and in 24 hours, the improvement was staggering. He was walking through the halls and eating 3 meals a day!! They were very efficient keeping us informed of his treatment plan, asking questions and answering ours. I believe that the way these women nurtured him is a direct reflection of the progress he's made. I truly get emotional thinking about it. ° We cannot possibly thank you all enough. There are too many of you to name, but you know who you are! You've given us our Dad, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather back in better health than we believed was possible!!

I wavered on giving a 3 or 4. I went to mccrite for rehab after a total knee replacement. The facility is nice and most people were willing to assist and give me time but the rehab facility is set up more for 80 to 90 year olds; not a 58 year old who could pretty much take care of themselves except for a few items requiring nursing staff assistance like getting ice for icing machine or restock of bathroom items. There were some issues with my pull cords not working or going off every half hour, frustrating some nursing staff who thought i was pulling it. Also, the bed was not set up right for the big mattress they put on it, which wasn't supportive for getting up. Finally, maintenance was called a week later, and it was fixed.There were workarounds to make it easier to all affected. Not one time during my 2.5 week stay did anyone change the bedding. Only 3 days in a row my second week did someone come in and partially vacuum. The food was good. However, no one told me that I didn't have to eat what was on the general menu they never gave me the menu until 9 days after being there. Someone was supposed to be coming to my room to ask me if I wanted what was on the menu, but that didn't happen. This was corrected about the 11th day and very quickly. My biggest issue was with the nursing staff. Those nurses with CNA backgrounds were phenomenal, but those nurses who did not have a CNA background would pass the buck, and I would have to wait sometimes 30 minutes or more for someone to come assist. In addition, on 3 nights, the same nurse fell asleep at the nurse's station. There were several others who were also sleeping, but it was only a one-time that I had seen them. This was brought to the administration's attention, though not by me but by an internal nursing staff member. Many times, people would do a quick knock and walk in without waiting for me to respond. I understand that working with 80 to 90 year olds who typically lived in a nursing home and may have issues hearing it would be sufficient but for me I asked for a little more respect to wait for my response since several walked in while i was naked.. I would recommend home health care for rehab and not a facility like Mccrite should you be at an age like me... still working and able to live on your own.

Seams nice enough to me. The meals looked underwealhming to me, only sandwiches for dinner instead of a hot meal, but the residents seamed to be hardly eating. Place did seam tidy and clean with very good covid protocols.

My mother has been a resident in the independent living building for two years. We moved her from out of state following the death of my father to be closer to our family. The staff has been so caring and supportive throughout the move and subsequent pandemic. She has met wonderful residents who share her interests and keep her active. The community has allowed her to age gracefully and safe rather than just get old. I thoroughly educated myself about senior living options in the area. My father had a horrible experience in a rural out of state facility until we were able to medically move him to a larger city care home. McCrite was highly recommended to me and I fully support that recommendation after my experience with them. It is never easy to transition, but the staff and residents made it much easier.

When we first saw this place for my grandfather we loved the place. But after a month of him being here the nurses don’t respond to any of his calls. They ignore everyone. It’s not just one person most of the residents have felt the same way. Especially at night they go somewhere and fall asleep. It’s so crazy how you sign up to be a CNA OR A RN and you don’t respond quick enough for your patients. On the second note my grandfather phone in him room wasn’t working for about a week the nurses knew all about it but when the owner son came up here he got the process don’t faster than the nurses did. All he did was call about the phone, and the man came right up and fixed it. But back to the nurses, all of the residents have a button to push. My grandpa and other members have to push it multiple times now I understand you be with other resident but it shouldn’t talk a nurse a HOUR to get to a person. The wait limit is 15 and trust I did ask them. DON’T BECOME A NURSE IF YOU DONT VALUE YOUR PATIENCE NEEDS OR WANTS. My grandpa doesn’t call any problems, he is very easy to work with. My aunt had to call up here and tell them that, but after that call all of the sudden he’s getting treated like this is his first day here. It’s one nurse that always makes sure my grandpa is well token care of and her name is Monay or Moyna. It sounds like Monae, she always makes sure the pt here is well token care of but we haven’t seen her in a while. So if you do come here please ask for monae and be aware of a HOUR wait. To owner, lovely place but please have a talk with your staff...I’ll love to here from you thanks
