They take great care of my father in law.

I want to share my experience with Avamere at Sherwood, where my father has been living since May (4 months so far). Overall, I'm very pleased with how things have gone. From day one, the staff have been responsive and caring. Over time, they seem to really know my father ” not just his needs, but his personality, preferences, and daily rhythms. They check in, follow up, and ensure he’s comfortable in ways that make me feel confident placing him there. The facility itself is clean and well-maintained. It feels safe. Things are organized, and I see staff going about their work with kindness and professionalism. They’re prompt when I reach out with questions, and they generally communicate well. While I haven’t experienced or been exposed to other facilities personally (nor has my father), I hear so many stories in contrast, so I appreciate what I see here: personal attention, respect, and stability. It gives me peace of mind knowing he is in a place where people care.

I feel my mother gets good care there, everyone is pleasant, and concerning. The only item I feel,may need to be addressed is some of the meals. My mother was a cook and food manager for the school district for many years. She has mentioned several times about some of the items of food that she ordered has not been correct, not cooked completely or over cooked, items not given when ordered, and often the appearance is not appetiting. she knows you cook for many with different conditions, but if it does not look appealing people do not eat the food, they just throw it away. My mother can supplement her food sometimes as needed , but should not need to do that . Not sure who is incharge of the food program and prep , but who ever it is should perhaps go sit with my mom in her room and discuss perhaps some ideas and suggestions she may have to offer. if that is a possibility please text me and I can set up time and date for meeting. she is not one to intimidate, or made negative vibes....only to offer suggestions that may help make your program better. My MIL NO, has been at Avamere for two years; the past year in the Arbor Memory care Wing! How one person can give them 1 star with no personal experience, except perhaps an inquiry to live there? Is beyond me. We visit multiple times a week when we're in town! And stay in frequent contact; when we're not there. I can't think, of a single instance when any employee, has been anything but kind, caring and gone out of their way to assist the best MIL on the planet! But then, I have nothing, but great admiration and gratitude for all of their collective efforts to keep the place clean and pretty smell free. And I have a super acute olfactory system, that can detect bad smells from far away! Are they perfect, who is? But, I have no doubt, they make every effort to provide a good and caring environment. For instance Christmas Eve, the dinner was a wonderful looking and smelling prime rib and fresh salmon, with 1 or 2 appropriate side dishes! N.O. who frankly suffers advanced Alzheimer's, always answers in the positive if she still likes living there! She has good and bad days, as her illness progresses! Kudos especially to Andrea, Kirsten & Sabrina, Clair and too many to mention. There has been great continuity of a core group of staff who are cheerful, kind, and accommodating! God Bless and thank them one and all, this is not an easy job!! They deserve our collective gratitude, not shade! A little kindness, and appreciation on our parts (the (children") of the residents, is in order in my opinion! They are operating in exceedingly tough times and an extreme employment market conditions! Here's to an even better 2022! This past Sunday June 5, (NO) joined her husband of 64 years in heaven; passing in place just as promised! To recap, she spent her first year and a half in the Assisted wing of Avamere with great team & staff! As A;zheimer's progressed, she moved from a private apt in Avamere to a shared room in the Arbor Memory care! A wonderful roommate and a good new year and a half ensued! Great caring & Kind team with so many blessings among them, I won't name all of them as might miss someone! But they deserve recognition, so here are just a few of the standouts who made her final time on earth, the best possible: Andrea, Astrida, Corey & Sabrina! Claire & Jazz & Christina out front! Many more too, no doubt! Thanks and heartfelt blessings to all, you cried with me, laughed when possible and hugged me and made releasing her a bit easier!

MY MIL has been here one year; and we have had nothing but good experiences. Staff is caring and we feel Mom O gets very good care. No Covid cases here, we visit her outside at this time! She is always clean and appropriately dressed! My sniff test; which is very acute; always passes the test when I arrive for a visit and am greeted at the front door! My acute oldactory (nose); detects no offensive odors which is certainly not the case at all care homes! Thank you Avamere for taking good care of "Mom", it means more then you can possibly imagine! Thank you for keeping her safe & comfortable (her words), & turning on her Merle Haggard music each day!

My mother has lived at Avamere Sherwood for 13 years. I come every Sunday for lunch. I have eaten meals with many residents over the years, and I have not heard any complaints. My observations tell me the staff are trying their best to serve the needs of residents.
