My name is Barb Harris and I moved to Homestead Hills about 3 months ago. I am a widow and wanted to move to a place where I could live independently and in a secure environment. Homestead Hills filled that criteria and more. I live in a house (cottage) in the Independent Living section and love it! I have made some new friends and am looking forward to making more. One thing I noticed almost immediately upon moving here, was everyone always has a smile and I've yet to see a frown. This includes residents and staff. I literally do not have to do much of anything except enjoy myself. The outside maintenance is looked after on a regular basis and I am very fond of my cleaning lady. The food menus are changed weekly and there is a good selection. I can choose to go to the dining room or have it delivered to my cottage, or if I want, I can cook for myself which I enjoy doing. Homestead Hills boasts to have "unlimited activities" and wellness center and while I have not participated in many activities, or the wellness center, but I will eventually get involved. I would like to praise the staff here. They are incredible and if there is something I need, or something doesn't work properly, all it takes is a phone call and the problem is solved. I am very happy I chose Homestead Hills as my new home.

Moving to Homestead Hills is one of the best decisions I have ever made. In my first seven weeks I have met dozens of residence from both the cottages and the villas. I can honestly say every one of them was extraordinarily friendly and welcoming. This is also true of the entire staff, both management and maintenance. They are all eager to help in any way and are competent, engaging and prompt to address any and all requests. I can truly say that the peace of mind this community provides is a real gift. We recently moved into Homestead Hills from Arizona. We worked with Jennifer Gibson-Heath to secure the ideal surroundings. She answered all our questions over a period of several months. We are delighted with the lovely home she recommended, it is wonderful. There were several updates required to make this house ours as it had been lived in. Cary Newberry Giffin the Transition Specialist at Homestead Hills became our new best friend. She made sure all the renovations were done beautifully. My mom recently made a visit to Homestead Hills while in town. From the beginning, Jennifer made the visit a seamless experience. While Homestead Hills could very easily "speak for itself" (beautiful campus, happy residents, delicious food), the staff at HH went above and beyond to make the visit as comfortable as possible for my mom. The transition from living independently in her long time home to living independently in a new home and location has been stressful. The resources Jennifer was able to show us during our visit helped to make our time there a meaningful as well as educational.

This review is about our Lifestyle Advisor, Jennifer Gibson-Heath. We have been talking with her over several months, she always seems to know when it’s time to contact us. She makes us feel very comfortable, but maintains a business perspective at all times. My wife can’t stop singing her praises about Jennifer. My wife and I have visited Homestead Hills several times during the past year. We have been seriously considering a move to a retirement facility and Homestead Hills was always the top choice. Our contact person has been Jennifer Gibson. She has arranged for us to see several different homes and apartments on multiple occasions along with inviting us to experience the dining area. We are undecided and have been for a while. In spite of this Jennifer has always been cordial, cheerful and fun to be with on the visits. At no time did we ever feel pressured to make a decision and this was greatly appreciated. If you are ever considering such a move I highly recommend Jennifer as a contact person.

Jennifer is the best! She gave my MIL and me a tour of the property, and she was not only knowledgeable, but also very caring and funny. Making a transition is hard and she listened and gave solid information and advice. My MIL was impressed with the property, and I think this had a lot to do with the enthusiasm that Jennifer showed about Homestead Hills. Jennifer also arranged for my MIL and I to go have dinner another night, and even arranged for a resident to join us so we could learn more from someone living there. I have recently gone thru the dramatic process of placing my mom in a more assisted type facility due to her age and loss of m dad. The team at Homestead heads were remarkable in so many ways from understanding the process, preparing financially and realizing the many benefits for my mom to experience. Most importantly, they have continued to service our needs after the fact. The entire team is great. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Jay, Jennifer and Cary and they have been awesome. Why not 5 stars? I've lived long enough to know that nothing is perfect. However, having said that, my husband and I moved to Homestead Hills almost 24 years ago. Regrets.....none! The people who live here are the friendliest you'll find anywhere. Management is very caring and protective, especially in times like these with the Pandemic and ice storms. I guess you could say that all these pluses would add up to 5 stars! Yes, I would definitely recommend checking us out.

I haven’t met one person I haven’t liked. Everyone is very friendly. For the most part I am happy with the food! I love some of the crafting events that go on and it’s a great way to try new things. Happy hour is always the best way to meet new friends! It was an adjustment moving from a house to an apartment but I now have adjusted and love it.

Moving to Homestead Hills has been a wonderful experience! From the moment I moved in I have had so many wonderful opportunities. Each day there are opportunities for exercise, coffee, chatting and social activities that are so fun and productive. We have flower arranging, puzzles, brain teaser, performers, painting classes, off campus outings and Bible study. Everything is so convenient. The menu is appealing and we even have cooking classes.

My mother has been a resident in the Assisted Living portion of Homestead Hills for 2 years this month. The nurses, care services staff, and activity staff are genuine, capable, and deeply invested in the residents. The environment of the facility is cheery, welcoming, and incredibly clean. My mother has continued to thrive here and for that I am truly grateful to this facility. If you are hesitant about putting a loved one here, do not be. This facility will truly put your mind at ease because your loved one will be in the best hands and will thank you for it.

We have been residents of Homestead Hills for only 4 months but have already settled in and made many new friends. Even before the moving van left our driveway the neighbors were visiting with gifts and invitations for dinner..The staff at HH has been extremely helpful and responsive to our requests. Our cottage was completely refurbished and all requests completed. We are thankful to be in safe and well maintained campus with beautiful scenery and plenty of walking areas. Exercise classes, social activities, and dining experience have exceeded our expectations.

I moved to Homestead Hills almost 2 years ago from Raleigh, NC. I am in a cottage that is just right for me! I chose Homestead Hills because of the great location, the cottages, security and the size of the community. I have since realized how friendly and caring this community is. I have made good friends who have helped me make the transition and helped me learn more about all that Winston-Salem has to offer. My plan when I decided to move here was to develop relationships not only within this community but also in Winston-Salem. The pandemic has paused my involvement in WS. I have been so impressed with the way our staff has responded to the pandemic and has worked diligently to keep us safe and healthy. I am happy that I was here when the pandemic hit, feel safer here than I would have in Raleigh. I also have a dog who has been greatly welcomed in the community. When we walk, he likes to stop and visit with his new friends! What better recommendation does anyone need?!!

My husband and I looked at 7 different communities in two states before settling on Homestead Hills Retirement Community. People frequently ask us why Homestead Hills? The answer is easy. Homestead Hills offers all the services we were looking for as well as what we will need in the future. The ability to choose the program that best suites our needs now and the flexibility to change when needed demonstrates that their philosophy is individual plans and not a "one size fits all". But even more important is the friendly, caring, and respect that everyone of the staff, from the executive director down, shows all the residents. In addition, there is an array of activities offered every week and with all maintenance taken care of, the residents have plenty of opportunity to interact with each other in a friendly, safe environment, and to enjoy retirement as it was meant to be.

After exhaustive research, our decision to make Homestead Hills our new home has definitely been the right one. The never-ending staff support from Cindy McAuliffe and April Sims to the warmest of welcome from neighbors has made this life=changing transition wonderful. Our only regret is that we had not done this years ago! Our days can be filled with as much activity as we choose to participate in as there is so much variety. Or, we might just want to relax at home in our beautiful cottage before leaving to join friends for a drink in the Lounge before dinner in our lovely dining room. We not only are living "the good life", we have peace of mind knowing that should we need medical facilities in the future, Homestead Hills has Assisted Living Facilities and Skilled Nursing Care. We are truly happy with our new way of life!

Assisted Living Center uses the term "assisted living" or "personal care" to inform users that a community provides assistance with some Activities of Daily Living (ADL's). It may not meet your state's legal definition required for that level of care.
