My mother was in this facility for more than 30 days. None of these rehab places are perfect, yet we found Westlake to be top end. The facility is fresh and clean. The staff is capable and friendly. The staff is specialized in the disciplines of nursing, PA, therapy, general aides, and food service. The medical care and therapy is outstanding. The food is reasonably good considering the volume of people that need to be fed. When my mom had any issue with food the staff really worked hard to make her happy with eating. We would definitely use it again.

There are many wonderful people at Westlake Health Campus who truly care about the residents. I want to specifically acknowledge Mario, Alissa, and Saed, ”each of them showed genuine kindness, patience, and compassion. Overall, most of the staff was nice, helpful, and very welcoming upon our arrival, which made a difficult situation a little easier. However, when it comes to patients with dementia, our experience was very different. Our loved one has dementia and had just undergone surgery that limited his mobility. We understand how demanding and challenging this environment is. From experience with another facility, we also know it’s not possible for staff to be present every second or respond instantly to every need. Due to the dementia, our loved one was not able to push the call light or call out when he needed help, including when trying to get up to use the restroom which obviously increased his fall risk. Because of this, our family had to take turns staying with him around the clock so he was never left alone. This required me to take time off work, and when I asked to have the Department of Labor form filled out, I encountered additional challenges. Dr. Malek told me he normally wouldn’t fill out such forms because the facility provides 24/7 care. When I explained our loved one’s dementia and his increased fall risk after hip surgery, his solution was to get a bed with sensor alarms. Unfortunately, those beds do not exist at this facility, which I had already asked about on day one. It was concerning that the physician wasn’t familiar with what dementia support equipment the facility actually offers. When I asked about symptoms our loved one was having, his response was that his medication needed more time to work”even though he has been on that same medication for several years. It felt as though our loved one’s chart hadn’t been reviewed. Dr. Malek said he would speak with facility staff and get back to me in a couple of days, but I never heard back. A few days later, I approached the social worker hoping for clearer answers about the paperwork. Her response was the same repeated line: We provide 24/7 care, even after I explained why our family was staying with him. When I asked what that meant for someone with dementia”someone who cannot call for help”she simply repeated it again. I gave an example where we pressed the call light and it took over an hour for someone to respond. If he had fallen, how would anyone have known? Saying 24/7 care in this context felt misleading. Discharge Process Issues While our arrival was welcoming, the discharge process needs improvement. We were told that bedding and a wheelchair would be arranged prior to discharge, but nothing was set up. It took several days before we heard from the company responsible for providing these items. After an already stressful experience, this added even more frustration and uncertainty. ________________________________________ If you have a loved one with dementia, be prepared that you may need to hire private care or personally stay with them, as the level of supervision required is simply not something the facility is consistently able to provide. No ifs, ands, or buts. While we deeply appreciate the kindness of many staff members, the overall handling of dementia care, communication, physician involvement, and discharge coordination left us disappointed and concerned. The people are wonderful”but the systems in place need serious attention.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would, my 92 yr old mom was here for rehab and the hole staff was amazing from the nurse station, caregivers, P.T and the dining staff everyone was always happy and in a good mood. Big shout out to Bal the physical therapist that went above and beyond carrying for her and the administration social worker Rachel that helped make it an easy transition!! Big shout out to April in the nurse station to!! They were all fantastic but can't remember everyone's names!! Plus all the guys that had to change and dress her!!! Kind hearted guys — HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE FOR REHAB‘‘‘‘‘

My husband was admitted to Westlake for rehabilitation services after contacting COVID. Westlake helped us to trust and heal from this serious sickness. The staff was always friendly and cheerful. They took a personal interest in my husband’s progress and comfort. Medicine was always administered in a timely manner and the process was individualized so that mistakes were not made. I visited my husband 1-2 times a day each day for the month and an half he was there. As a result, I got to observe the care and friendliness with which residents were treated. No one likes to be in the position where rehab is needed, but this facility strives for and obtains a very humane level of care. We are thankful for them.

My mother stayed here for short term rehab after surgery. The people here are all so nice! The food was good. I ate in the dining room with her several times. The aides, nurses, and therapists were all very kind and understanding. We had a small hiccup upon arrival, and the staff was quick to remedy it. Special shout out to Mario, Bailey, April and Marty! There were so many more wonderful people there. I just dont remember all the names! If you are looking for a place for short term rehab, I highly recommend West Lake.

As a caregiver, it so upsetting to see my client sitting in a wheelchair for 6 hours. After going back to his room, he pulled the alarm for a nurse to assist him back in bed. The first nurse that came in the room said she was serving dinner trays and it was more important than putting him in bed. So I decided to assist him into to bed. Just after I got him in bed, I started to put his oxygen back on, the head nurse came in and took it out of my hand telling me it’s her job.

Westlake has been everything we hoped it would be! Mom and dad moved into the independent living Villas 2 years ago. The Villa was a perfect transition from a full size home. Marie's kindness and level of commitment to her residents is above and beyond!! An unexpected chain of medical events have pushed mom and dad into skilled nursing sooner than expected but the Team at the Big House has that same level of commitment and kindness. They have made a really difficult situation so much easier to handle!! Thank you...Sue, Rebecca, Kate, Brent, Ilana, Elin, Anthony and all the other kind and caring peeps I haven't had the pleasure to get to know yet!

This review is about a year overdue. I spent several weeks at Westlake after getting out of the hospital from surgery. The staff was wonderful. The chef was attentive to my dietary restrictions and the food was excellent. The PT staff did their job and got me on the road quickly. If you need to go somewhere for Physical Therapy, I recommend it.

My mother Susan had a amazing 13 months at West Lake, as we the family also were also impressed with not only the facility but the ENTIRE staffs professionalism,compassionevery single person was was so nice to talk with about anything.PSmom raved about the food the Culinary team that put together for all the meals and don’t get her started about the brunch on the 3rd Sunday. My husband spent almost 2 months here after a leg amputation. We toured some prior to surgery so he could have a choice. He chose this facility due to the cleanliness, and we sure are thankful this his was his choice! The staff was amazing, he loved the food, and again, how clean it was. Let me tell you, my husband is not easy to please so the fact that he loves it there, says it all! The things they do for not only the patient, but also their families is just amazing! . They really do go above and beyond. Their Sunday brunches are amazing, as well. Would recommend 10/10! If I could give more than 5 stars I would!

Clean and pleasant looking place. The food is fair to good. The staff is overall pleasant but they are very short staffed and it can take up to an hour and a half or two hours to get them to answer the call light. That is the worst thing about the place. It is worse than other places I have stayed.

They are extremely kind and helpful. I take care of my grandmother and have for the last 15 years and unfortunately we have been through a lot of different rehabilitation centers,and everyone there where some of the kindest people to both my grandmother and myself. The place is super clean,and just lovely. I would like to shout out the wonderful lady at the front when you walk in Cecile, she was amazing!

My mom was released from the hospital and I needed to choose a rehab facility fast. I called several and Westlake seemed to be the best fit for my mom. Boy did we luck out! From the moment my mom arrived, everybody there couldn't have been nicer. We've heard worrisome stories about other facilities - neglect, bad attitude, bad therapists, bad food! - but our experience at Westlake was the complete opposite of that. My mom was welcomed by the staff and the residents, and felt comfortable from the start. The care was good, the therapists were great, the staff was nice and attentive, and my mom LOVED the food, LOVED it! My mom improved in large part thanks to Westlake and its staff and after a couple of weeks was able to leave, but she was sad to leave the friends she had made there. The most obvious reason Westlake excels is the positive attitude everyone at Westlake displays at all times. They really hire well there. A special shout-out to Marcie at the front desk. Marcie couldn't have been more pleasant and thoughtful than she was to my mom and my family. There is no nicer woman on earth - she is truly special - and she really went above and beyond for us all. Thanks for making my mom's stay so wonderful.

My dad was in short-term rehab after having a mini-stroke. The staff was extremely friendly to him and family members. He said he felt like he was in a hotel. He got plenty of exercise and staff worked hard on getting him to socialize. Food was good, he's a fussy eater and he cleaned his plate. Facility was clean and well maintained, I would highly recommend.

Westlake is an AMAZING rehab facility. My mother has been there twice now for rehab after a hospital stay and both times we were extremely happy with her care. The staff is so kind & caring. Nice clean place, fun activities, good food & great staff! I highly recommend them. 2 friends have sent their family here and both families are extremely pleased with their care. How can you not love West Lakes. The dinning room looks like a up-scale restaurant. The employees serve the Residents as if they were dinning out in a lovely restaurant. The residents rooms remind me of a 4 to 5 star hotel. If you need long term or rehab, you have to check out West lakes!!!!
