There is a good staff and an OK kitchen., UNFORTUNATELY there are serious financial problems! The administrators will not talk about or answer questions regarding financial condition of the facility though they have a new committee for more transparency that has yet to meet and is expected to be prohibited to write down information to share with residents. Apparently the CEO has prohibited his staff from answering questions and he himself goes out of his way to avoid any answer of financial questions. Apparently his legal counsel and his board demand this secrecy or he is a rogue? Their IRS 990 shows continous losses, low occupancy, and the sale of millions of dollars of their assets for the past 5 years. It is notclear what the proceeds are for but operations is a guess. . Their attractive assisted living and medical care buildinbg has recently been closed and the building sits empty in a. city plagued by homelessness possing a threat to the occupants of the main building. Their ability to borrow is restricted because all assets. are secured by current lenders. There are millions of dollars of deferred maintenance that is urgent and there is no reserve fund set aside to deal with the mandated expense . Apart from the lack of candor or any heads-up to applicants or residents, i feer a transfer or sale of the propert that may inhibit any refund due or will negatively affect the continued occupancy of the units as expected and contracted for.

Outstanding caregivers in every category from CNA's, to general staff and everything in between. The facility is always kept clean and beautiful. The food is great as well. I highly recommend them!

It is all about community at The Hearthstone and not just the Green Lake neighborhood community. While we love living in such a vibrant neighborhood, it is the true sense of community with other residents and staff members that makes The Hearthstone so special.

We love calling the Hearthstone our home, as does our dog Dosey, who is SO happy living just one block from Green Lake park. Exercise classes and the well-equipped gym keep us physically active. Music trivia and local excursions are fun. The staff supports our daily living with maintenance, cleaning, rides, trips, humor and kindness. We feel lucky to live here.

Our decision to move to Cove West at the Hearthstone took several years. We were specifically looking for a non-profit CCRC in order to meet any future healthcare needs. The Hearthstone's well-established reputation stood out as did the Green Lake location, which in our opinion is unmatched in the Seattle area. All of the community's amenities and the newly-built (at the time) Cove West sealed the deal. Last but not least, we have found true community with our neighbors.

A cautionary note based on my mother's experience. She was living at the Hearthstone and developed dementia. Eventually she became combative and had to be hospitalized. The Hearthstone declined to take her back, at any level of care, even after her combativeness was controlled by medication. I had to move her to a different care facility, where she died a month later. One further tip: if you buy into a CCRC, make sure you understand what happens to your buy-in fee in the event the facility declines to care for you. It came as a shock to me, and added stress to an already stressful time. By posting this I mean no disrespect to the many dedicated caregivers and congenial residents at the Hearthstone. This was a management decision. Unfortunately, my mom's choice of the Hearthstone did not turn out well for her.

I worked at the Hearthstone in 1968,1969, waiting on tables. I loved the people who lived there, the people I worked with & Bill Cody, my boss. At that time the people who were there owned their own apt. & they came to the dinning room for their meals. All of the people were nice & caring. I can see by the picture it's grown a lot so I really don't know anything about it in these days. Yeah for the good ole' days!

The Hearthstone is right in the heart of Green Lake, next to the park, with shopping, restaurants, coffee shops and outdoor activities within a short walk. What a perfect place to retire! Plus, it is a Life Plan Community which means that as you age, you will have assisted living and skilled nursing services available. This community has been in Seattle for 50 years, and remains strong in both mission and finances. I have worked for several retirement communities as a consultant and know personally many happy residents that live at the Hearthstone where the staff is engaged and caring. The Hearthstone should be at the top of your retirement options list when you start to visit places..

I've just returned home from five days at the Hearthstone Health Care Center for recuperation of knee replacement surgery. What a wonder! The kind and caring staff offered all I could want during those first few days out of the hospital. The food was great. My Physical Therapist most helpful. This stay at the Health Care Center was a great experience! I want others to know.

If you need a space, they rent out the first floor room. It's a large room with a stage. Very clean.

I recently visited Hearthstone and had a most wonderful experience. The staff is outstanding, the activities for the elders were perfectly suited for them and the location is incredible, right across the street from Green Lake. I just don't think you could have a better environment for your elder to stay.
