We have used them about 5 months. We stopped using them recently. Some of the girls that would come loved to clean and did a good job at cleaning but they ignored the reason we hired them to give a prepared meal at dinner (didn't have to eat it just give it) and give a shower at least once a week. We had to toss so many premade meals because they didn't give it to her. The first girl also added time to the time we approved and since there was no shower or dinner why did she add time? No explanation was given but they did refund the difference. When we signed up with them they said no problem on our needs and even told them they didn't have to clean. They also told us everyone would be in scrubs. The first girl cleaned, didn't wear scrubs, and missed a few times without notice. She randomly left. The second lady was more OCD about things and talked to us but she also randomly left and didn't wear scrubs either. We were hoping for scrubs only because they look more nurse like and having someone with dementia shower is hard enough so a "professional" looking person would go a long way. Then they brought back the first girl who were were originally told was out having a baby who was still pregnant. Clearly she didn't like us or she wouldn't have left the first time and we were kind to her so I don't know why she decided to leave the first time. She wasn't giving the dinner or shower so we asked for someone else. There was A LOT of communication issues. But most of the office staff was great in talking to us when an issue came up. We then had a lot of inconsistent care and missed times making us have to change our schedules to go running over when we had previously arranged care.This was a huge issue since we have a special needs child and live an hour away while maintaining jobs. If it was only once or twice no issue because we get things happen but it was about 7-9 times we got calls they didn't have someone and trying to find someone. Sometimes they did other times they didn't. Also we set up for one time frame and they kept changing it on their own without notifying. Then they asked to change it to the original time frame and we explained that is what it was SUPPOSE to have been. Communication was a total mess. It just didn't work out. I think they probably have a lot of good people working there but we never did find the best fit. The inconsistent care givers were a huge issue for us. Just when we thought we found a good one they would quit with no explanation. the last girl to come was really good we could tell but we had already cancelled by that point and we had family move in with our mother. We had also cancelled and then the caregiver showed up anyway.

My mother's diagnosis of dementia was 2 months before the pandemic. We tried Visiting Angels from recommendations from friends and we have worked with them this entire time. Our latest daytime companion for mother is Kelly Guitierrez, and we treasure her. She is punctual and leaves notes everyday in a notebook so that the family knows what my mother did and ate through the day. She has stu k to the COVID guidelines, got her shots and still wears her mask. Her discipline and thorough note taking have been indispensable now that we are also using hospice services. Kelly is highly experienced and I would strongly recommend her if she is available.

Be very careful of the billing. I received a bill where hours of two caregivers overlapped for 15 minutes on several days when only one caregiver should have been billed for. My mother never needed or asked for 2 caregivers at the same time. I asked for this to be resolved when it happened in February but it never was. My mother died in March and I received a bill in November saying the past due amount was being sent to collection( I haven't received a bill since March). It is very upsetting to receive this bill so many months after my Mom's death. Again double check all your bills because overlapping charges add up!

We were in unfamiliar territory and had just received confirmation that the home health that was covered by insurance did not include a specific type of in-home health care. So when I called, the woman I spoke to was very compassionate and helpful. We ended up not using their services, and my Grandmother passed away about a week after our original conversation. I then received a phone call from their office following up with us regarding supplementing care, and after I told the woman of my Grandmother passing, her compassion through the phone was almost as if she hugged me right then and there. Someone who didnt even know our family took the time to talk to me when it was no gain to her. I later today received a package in the mail of the sweetest gift in remembrance of my Grandmother. I will forever remember the kindness of Visiting Angels; they genuinely are Heaven sent.

So, it was a Friday at 4:40 PM. Our dear Carole had just fallen and we had to come to terms fast that we needed 24x7, one on one care. We were given two references for other caregivers. But they didnt answer the phone. I had worked with Visiting Angels in Austin twice and hoped the Waco office was available. So, I called. and tada, a real person answered the phone. Within an hour the Director arrived to assess our needs. By 8 PM our first caregiver arrived and fit right in. She watched over our beloved Carole and Mom was finally able to rest that night. Sadly, we had two wonderful caregivers that just werent the right fit for Carole, but Visiting Angels understood without question and sent ladies who were a better fit. The whole team has been a blessing. These caregivers truly are angels. Its been five days now and we have the help we need to walk through the toughest hospice days to come. So grateful Visiting Angels answered our cry for help! Big virtual hug.
