My mother entered Discovery Village/now Terra Bella, October of 2020. In the throws of Covid. We did all our research online and by phone. Terra Bella did an amazing job of getting her settled, in spite of these circumstances! Mom quickly felt at home. There have been a few management changes since then. They have continued to improve in each progression. When mom entered Discovery Village, she came in under Assisted Living level of care. She eventually progressed into their Memory Care area. Every step of her experience of Aging in Place was wonderful and she received exceptional care. Mom passed this past week, still in Terra Bella Memory Care with the assistance of Hospice. We would choose Terra Bella, Sugarloaf 100% all over again.

If you are thinking of placing your loved one in the memory care unit at Terra Bella on Satellite Boulevard, you should know a few important pieces of information. Positives: 1. It is a newer facility 2. It is cleaner than a lot of places in this area it rarely has the nasty fecal smell many memory care units have 3. The food is pretty good in terms of variety and portions 4. The staff usually makes adjustments asked for by the doctor or family when they are being monitored 5. Many times I visited they had residents sitting at a communal table doing activities...bouncing balloons, coloring, playing word games, etc. This is a big plus when compared to some other places that simply push them to the nurses station and leaves them there all day. Negatives: 1. It is often understaffed I have gone more than once and called out for assistance and no one was there monitoring the residents. One time I found workers in a back hallway on their phones. 2. Although company policy (and legal requirement) is if a resident is injured they have to immediately notify the primary responsible relative, make a digital entry in their online system, and write up the incident in the binder they keep at the nurses station desk, they do not always do that. Unfortunately there were several times this did not happen and I only found out my mom was injured when either myself or a visiting medical caregiver saw the injuries. I had to contact corporate, notify state agencies, and even had to call the police once to get them to tell me the truth about what had happened. 3. They do not always tell you the truth about your loved one's status. My mother had a cerebral hemorrhage (stroke) that left her unresponsive. They did not notice until the afternoon and then told me she was "sleepy" and as a precaution needed to go to the hospital. The truth was she had a massive stroke/cerebral hemorrhage earlier in the day (per the neurologist) that took her life 4 days later. I will never know the truth about when she had her stroke and when they found her non-responsive, but I do know she wasn't just "sleepy". The bottom line is if you place your loved one there YOU MUST: Monitor their care by visiting at different hours of the day and different days of the week Advocate for them and make sure the staff understands you expect their needs to be met in a timely manner Ask questions when something doesn't seem right and verify the answers you get across multiple workers. If more people reported substandard care at facilities like Terra Bella they would be forced to improve the quality of their care. As the saying goes...you have to inspect what you expect.

I am not a fan of google reviews especially because I own my own business and people can be cruel for nothing but because I have had such an amazing experience with Sugarloaf, previously Discovery, in Suwannee I must give them praises. From the minute I walked into this community for seniors it felt like a ski resort. My wife & I were greeted by everyone who walked passed as we waited for the lady at the front desk to get the sales lady or as I now know her the Lifestyle Counselor, Biancca. While we waited for her the Executive Director came out of her office and asked if we were being helped, she introduced herself to us and let us know if we have any questions after visiting with Biancca to let her know and if she doesn't have the answer she would find it. Leslie was so positive and just looked happy to be there. Biancca showed us around the lovely campus and we met to talk about the cost and what it would take to have my parents admitted to Terra Bella Sugarloaf. Before we left Leslie stuck her head in offering us to have lunch as we waited for nurse Donna to visit us to schedule an assessment for my dad since he would be in the Assisted Living coming from the hospital and my mother would be visited at home. We did not have an appointment, so for all of this team to come together just for us we knew our search was over. The lunch was amazing. Eventually, Donna's bedside manner was so gracious and within a week they moved into the what they refer to is home. Our experience from Leslie to the rest of her team was nothing like the three other communities we visited. God bless this team of angels who have blessed us with such a peace of mind. Leslie, Biannca, & Donna are a great example of what Terra Bella offers to seniors. I encourage anyone to just take the time to meet with them and you will not be disappointed. It has been over three months now and we could not be more delighted with this otherwise tough decision.

The staff at Terra Bella was so amazing as they cared for my husband during his last days on earth. The memory care nurses and attendants were so diligent and loving, and the facility felt warm and secure. Our family is glad we chose Terra Bella for this last chapter of our beloved Eric's life.

We moved our mother into TerraBella Sugarloaf about a month ago and she loves it there, in fact the entire family loves TerraBella. All of the staff is always very professional, friendly and polite. They take very good care of our mother and they are very detail oriented. They offer good entertainment and they have lots of amenities and games. There is always plenty to do at TerraBella. The rooms are spacious and the entire facility is always pleasant and clean. The food and service in the restaurant is also 5 star quality. We have a lot of respect for the people at TerraBella and we highly recommend this community. They are fantastic to partner with and they will take care of your loved one.

We absolutely LOVE Living here. I say we, because I feel so good when I see my Mom so happy. Kevin the Executive Director is AWESOME! He's so humble and so personable!! The Caretakers are WONDERFUL!! The Activities Director and Staff are WONDERFUL!! Mom's favorite thing to play is BINGO! I love when the Independent residents come in and interact with the Assisted living residents. It NEVER feels like a convalescent home. It really feels like home! It's a beautiful community and I would recommend Terra Bella to anyone that is looking for a wonderful place called home, for us. I would name all the caretakers, the nurses and all the staff if I could but I don't want to leave anyone out! It's my home away from home

Let me tell you! Leslie, the Executive Director at TerraBella, is amazing. Leslie works hard, will help her team succeed and will go way out of her way to help any family member and resident by saying "yes" as much as possible. Leslie is highly trained and uses that knowledge to help her team be better caregivers for the residents. She is the top 2 Executive Directors that I would ever work for. I would highly recommend visiting TerraBella, Leslie and her team! It will be worth it!

I could not be more proud of my experience with TerraBella Sugarloaf. My father came to live at TerraBella approximately two months ago, this was the hardest decision I have ever had to make but as it turns out, it has been one of the best. The experience from meeting with Bianca who guided my husband & I in the right direction to the Executive Director, Leslie Frisch who showed grace and was a wealth of knowledge. Leslie continues to always be available to me, not to mention how much my dad just loves her. Donna the lead nurse shows great compassion when it comes to caring for my dad and proactively identifying his needs. When I visit, which is nearly daily, I am greeted with a warm welcoming smile from Kim at the front desk. My dad's care team is simply amazing. Henry & Richard go above and beyond to accommodate my dad's dietary needs. I would recommend TerraBella to anyone looking for exceptional care with a family environment. Since my dad lost my mother he has not felt like he was at home but now I am proud to say my dad invites us to visit him "at home". God bless all of you for the kindness and continued grace you have bestowed upon him.

I have waited a couple of months purposely before writing my review. I'd like for everyone searching for a loved one or like me for specifically my grandfather, a safe caring place to live in a senior care environment where he is able to, as they say "age in place". Well I may have done too much discovery but after many visits of other communities I found Sugarloaf tucked away off of Satellite Blvd and when I walked in I was greeted by the Executive Director, although I had never met any Director of the 7 communities I visited and after just a few minutes I spent with Mrs. Leslie Frisch I knew my grandfather would be at home. Not only was Mrs. Leslie friendly, kind and knowledgeable she genuinely cared about what was in the best interest of my family and most importantly my grandfather. She gave me realistic expectations of what to except where other communities promised the moon. It was after business hours but she assured me after spending over an hour with me that should I have any other questions to reach out to Bianca the counselor in the morning and that they were here to support me. I knew when I left that day my search was over and from there not only did Terra Bella meet my expectations but they exceeded them. I want to say Mrs. Leslie was instrumental in my decision but her team turned out to be very special starting with the Director of her nursing team Donna Toro, Henry the Director of the Dining Service department, the Maintenance Director Justice was extremely helpful when we moved in. The move in experience made my grandfather feel like a celebrity when the Welcoming Committee hosted by Mr. Larry could not have made us feel more special. Kim the receptionist always answers any questions and greets us with a kind smile. It has been one of the best experiences I have had especially under the circumstances. if you know someone looking for a senior living feeling guilty talk to Mrs. Leslie and I assure you, you will know her heart is in leading this amazing team.

Terra Bella Sugarloaf has an infectious energy to make the lives of the residents feel like they came there to live. It all starts with the Executive Director who you can tell loves what she does. When we initially toured with Bianca who was so sweet once she introduced us to her Director who was clearly busy but stopped what she was doing to meet me and my mother. Leslie never left my mother out of the conversation and went so far as to stoop down and speak directly to her, this went a long way for both of us. While I believed we made our decision at that time I did have a nursing question so I remembered that Leslie gave me her card and encouraged me to telephone her with any questions she could answer, it was the same night but about 7:30p so I thought I'd call and leave a voicemail but instead she answered the phone and while she wanted to run my question by her chief nurse Donna she assured me that one of them would call me back within the next 30 minutes and true to her word, not only did Leslie call to tell me that her nurse Donna would be calling within a few minutes, Donna called as she said she would. This experience set the tone for what was to come. I have never met a more committed, dedicated team in all my personal years in healthcare. I want to highly recommend this wonderful team for all they do to make the lives of the seniors they serve feel like they are at home. We have become an extended family and I could not be more satisfied. Thank you Terra Bella Sugarloaf!!!

My mom moved into TerraBella in July but I waited to write a review so I can provide the feedback including our experience after her move. I have to first start off by praising their sales director Bianca White. She went above & beyond to make my mom's move possible and made sure that she felt welcomed at the community and very comfortable at her new apartment. She is super nice & sweet and always so accommodating. We call her a God sent Angel and she truly is one. The executive director Ms. Leslie is also wonderful and works hard around the clock, wearing many hats to oversees the smooth operation of the community. They offer variety of activities & programs that the residents enjoy and the meal are delicious ! Dining room staffs Micah, Lynn, Kiki and Angelina always serve the residents with big smile and their caring hearts. Karim who is the maintenance person is the best and take such a great care of the community and the residents homes. I am so happy that my mom is adjusting to her own place very nicely and grateful to their wonderful staff & sweet residents for being there for her !

What a great place for my mother to live her "best life" as the Executive Director said to me. I would like to thank everyone for making this such a pleasant and easy decision. Bianca was so helpful and no other community did I get to meet the Executive Director who even offered us dinner after our initial tour. It's been a month or so and my mom now refers to Terra Bella as home, she has friends and loves the staff. I know all of the team there are responsible for her wonderful experience but between Mrs. Leslie & Bianca we would have been lost. God bless all of the staff especially those two who make my mom feel important and at home. It must truly be a great place to work!

My mom has been at Discovery Village/Terra Bella for almost 4 years now. The staff here are, by and large, friendly and hard-working. Kim at the front desk always greets with a smile and friendly conversation. Lister, Patience, Fran, and the other caregivers do their best to work with residents in an otherwise thankless, challenging role. I respect them highly for what they do! The servers in the dining room (Lynn, Richard, Summer, Michaye, and others) are also wonderful and treat my mom so well. So why only 4 stars and not 5? A recent management change now has an Executive Director that works very hard to avoid contact with residents and their families. I'm there almost every day, and it seems her glass doors are always shut with some kind of note on it that translates to "Go Away." During my mom's stay here, we've had two Executive Directors. Both of the previous ED's were friendly, walked out of the office to greet people, interacted with them, etc. Aside from their business acumen, they knew who their customers were. But not so the current one. She's new in her job so maybe there is a learning curve I don't know about. All told, my mom has enjoyed her stay here without many complaints. The place is always clean and tidy. Justice, Tim, and the maintenance team do a great job with keeping up appearances. If your parent/loved one is looking for a place to call home, I recommend that you consider Terra Bella.

I am writing this for my mom, Linda. She asked me to type the following: "I was so scared to move from our home, the home we had since 1980 and to move during a pandemic was even scarier. The staff from the very beginning to now have been fantastic. We have met so many people that we call friends now. The food is good and the common areas are kept so clean. The grounds are always kept up too. We look forward to using the pool this summer too. They have done a great job keeping things going during the pandemic and things are opening back up now. We love all the activities they plan. We live in the Independent side in a 2 bd apartment an it has given my husband and I the space we need to move around. So glad we found this place."

We moved my parents here in September after looking at several places around the area and we kept coming back to this one. My parents, RJ and Linda, settled in nicely and has met a lot of friends there and feel like they are in the right place. I was worried when they got a new Executive Director a few months ago but it seems like it's been a seamless transition. My parents haven't had too many complaints and minimal issues. They would tell me if anything was off. I have had to call them to get a message or ask for them to help my parents and they always have helped me. Faye has been amazing and so sweet to me but mainly my parents. They live in the independent side for now and it's been such a great place for them to now call home. For the independent side we couldn't be happier and my only hope is if they have to move to the assisted side it would continue to serve them well. For now, we are happy.

I moved here October 2020. I had one of the cottages that flooded the first weekend I was here. I don't want to bore you with details of that experience other than EVERYTHING has improved immensely now that we are under NEW MANAGEMENT! I love living here, activity personal are awesome and have so much for activity for all levels, from Independent Living to Memory Care. Everyone is so helpful and friendly and I jokingly tell people " I live where everyone knows my name"! There's so much going on, at times I have to not go to an activity just to get my personal stuff done. I feel safe day and night and I have been so pleased regarding our maintenance crew as well as other staff. I am thankful I decided on Disvovery Village over other places I looked at before moving to GA from another state.

My favorite daughter found this place for my wife and I and we couldn't be happier here. We live in the Independent Living and we have no complaints. We have so many new friends and we do join in all the activities as much as possible. My wife is the social butterfly and being around other people our age as been a blessing (for us both). Moving during a pandemic is hard but everyone here made it so simple. Food is great. Grounds are beautiful. Staff is so helpful. Common areas always clean.
