Renassaince is the most caring memory care community in the northern Virginia area. There staff is knowledgeable and they operate from a place of sincere care. I was amazed on how the clean and beautiful the building is and the residents were happy and engaged with the many activities I witnessed. It is no wonder that their reputation is so pristine. If you are on this journey of dementia for a loved one - I highly recommend you check out the Renaissance in Annandale and for your loved one.

I toured 12 memory care facilities in the area and Renaissance of Annandale was my clear pick for my husband. I was very impressed with their approach to care, their staff to resident ratio, their program, their facility, and so much more. I visited and toured the facility four times myself, and on two of those occasions I also brought my husband to see how he would react there and how he would do when participating in some of the activities with other residents and staff. Although my husband generally never wanted to participate in any activities at his adult day center, he participated at the Renaissance and enjoyed it. I was so comfortable with my choice that I told my family that if I ever got dementia, I would want to be placed there myself. I cannot emphasize strongly enough how helpful Jonathan Fitch was. I spoke with him many times; he never tired of answering my seemingly endless questions and I always appreciated his helpfulness--even on caregiving matters not directly related to the Renaissance. That's one of the things that makes the difference about the Renaissance and their team--they all go the extra mile. Unfortunately, my husband suddenly became very ill before he had the chance to go to live at the Renaissance as we had planned. When I called to let Jonathan Fitch know that my husband was in the hospital and needed to be placed on hospice care, Jonathan once again went the extra mile, giving me information about hospice companies and he helped me work through several challenges concerning the in-patient hospice care my husband was going to need. Although my husband passed away soon after and never had a chance to become a resident of the Renaissance, my extensive research of memory care facilities and all the interactions I had with the Renaissance made me very comfortable that it was the right choice for us.

After months of uncertainty and distress over my husband’s care elsewhere, my son and I made the decision to transition him to Renaissance. It was one of the best choices we’ve ever made, and we will be forever grateful. What first struck us was the atmosphere”calming, dignified, and thoughtfully designed for residents with memory challenges. From the gentle scent of lavender in the hallways that promotes calm and emotional regulation, to the Dutch doors on residents’ rooms that provide privacy while allowing staff to easily check in, every detail speaks to a philosophy of dignity and care. The long, attractive hallways offer a safe space for residents to walk, with resting areas thoughtfully placed along the way. The photographs of historic moments and figures”World War II, Shirley Temple, Gene Kelly”serve not just as decoration, but as meaningful reminders of the residents’ lives and times. Even the exit doors are cleverly disguised with wallpaper designed to deter wandering, while preserving dignity. The courtyard is another gem: an enclosed, secure space with a bubbling brook, seasonal flowers, and peaceful benches that provide a breath of fresh air and serenity for residents and families alike. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and all located on the first floor”ideal for those with mobility challenges. The dining experience deserves special mention. Renaissance has a dedicated food staff whose only responsibility is to serve meals”and they do so with care, attention, and anticipation. I never saw a resident having to ask twice for anything. The team was attentive not only to food but to the overall wellbeing of each person. Still, the heart of Renaissance is its people. Jonathan Fitch, the Marketing Director, was a guiding light throughout our journey. For months, he listened patiently to our concerns, offered support, and helped us envision a better standard of care for my husband. His belief in the capability of the Renaissance team to care for someone with a history of combativeness gave us the confidence to make the move. Jonathan’s compassion, professionalism, and genuine calling to this work shone through at every step. He gave us hope”and delivered on every promise. And then, there is Nurse Hamasatu. She is, simply put, extraordinary. Her compassion for the residents is limitless. Never once did she complain or treat my husband as a burden. She made time for him and for me, even calling after hours to update me on his condition. On the last morning of his life, she gently called me at 6:00 a.m.”before her shift even began”and softly said, Can you come? That single act of compassion told me everything about the heart she brings to her work. If there is a caretaker’s section in heaven, Hamasatu will have the best seat in the house. Hamasatu’s team reflected the same level of professionalism”compassionate, attentive, and incredibly dedicated. Memory care is not easy, and yet the Renaissance staff handle it with grace, empathy, and skill. Renaissance is not perfect”no place is”but it comes as close to perfection as any facility we have encountered. My husband was treated with love and dignity through his final days, and we, as a family, were given a gift: peace of mind and relief from the heavy burden of worry. To the entire staff”thank you. It was so hard for my family to make the decision to place my mother in a memory care facility. Renaissance’s genuine care and responsiveness to my mother’s needs, and my family’s needs, are a godsend. It is such a comfort to know that she is being cared for so thoughtfully, and it shows in the way she is excited to see and talk to the various staff members. I’m incredibly thankful to all of Santa's helpers for making this Christmas shine a bit brighter! Today, the SOCO varsity basketball team dedicated their time to the residents at the Renaissance of Annandale, helping them decorate ornaments. The staff was so warm and engaging, creating a joyful atmosphere for everyone. Many residents won’t have visitors this holiday season, so it really made a difference. As the song goes, Give Love on Christmas Day. Thank you all for being of service!

We would like to take this opportunity to share a few thoughts on Renaissance of Annadale. Our mom has been a resident of Renaissance for two years now. She previously resided at another memory care facility where she was not getting the care and attention she needed. Since her arrival at Renaissance, the contrast in level of care could not be more evident. We have been pleased with the love and nurturing she is shown, the activities that are held (including those that family are invited to), and the communication with us whenever there is a matter that needs to be discussed. The updates, photos, and videos we are periodically sent provide a heartwarming glimpse into the various activities she engages in. The staff”from the administrative team to the care team to the front desk receptionists”has been very attentive and proactive in responding to her needs and we rest easy knowing that our mom's health, welfare, well-being, and safety are being attended to by thoughtful and caring individuals.

This is never a fun process, but I found a lot of reasons to like Renassance of Annandale, Especially with Jerome on the case. His job description is misleading. He is also the camp counselor, chaplain and Chief Cheerleader. He seems to be everywhere. I could not be happier nor could my loved one. Our move in was rushed by the hospital, but he opened doors cut through the red tape and and made this work in 24 hours and he was standing at the door when we arrived.. He is an absolute treasure. The residence very attractive and cheery it is pretty special, but I think that Jerome is the catalyst for that. It is hard to be anything but happy around Jerome. Thankful I found Renaissance! I toured a nearby residence and left depressed, worried about what was next. After visiting with knowledgeable professionals in the field of memory care, Renaissance was highly recommended. I called and was put in contact with Gerome who expedited my whole process with amazing comfort and ease with putting my Aunt there. I flew in overnight and had her transported from the hospital to their facility in 24 hours and couldn't have done it without him! The facility is amazing from the care, knowledge and smell! My oldest brother was a resident of Renaissance up to his recent passing. I would like to preface that I had a Certified Assisted Living Administrator license, but am now retired. And, that I was a Senior Living Marketing and Sales Director for eighteen years. I worked with major providers within the assisted living, continuing care retirement communities and skilled nursing, as well as privately held communities in both a community focus and as a regional marketing/sales director. I will say, that the care that my brother received at Renaissance was the apex of any memory care community that I visited or worked in. The team at Renaissance was proactive. And, on the few times they had to be reactive, their follow-up and response was thorough. My nieces, my brother's daughters, were glad that their dad, and their children's granddad, was nearby. When I visited my brother, I always used three sets of eyes...those of a family member, those of marketing/sales director observing a competitor and the eyes of a someone holding a community executive director's license. I am so grateful for the caring and capable staff at Renaissance Senior Living-Annandale who cared for my brother during the last few weeks of his life. They served him and the whole family with patience and kindness, facilitating regular communication with out-of-town and home-bound family members. Jerome, in particular, went the extra mile to help my brother get admitted to Renaissance and get settled comfortably in his new surroundings. Jerome's compassion and rapport with my brother smoothed the path for what might otherwise have been a much more difficult transition. Jerome's thoughtfulness and sensitivity ministered greatly to the whole family. Renaissance Senior Living-Annandale provided the right care at the right time, and I recommend them for anyone seeking patient-centered memory care.

I had heard so many positive things about this facility from several women I know whose husbands were residents there, so I took the tour and talked at length with the director both of whom were so reassuring and informative . My husband was becoming more and more difficult to handle, so I knew I had to start making plans for his new life in a memory care facility. He has been there for a little over three months now and has adjusted beautifully. He never asks to come home in fact. I am finally able to de-stress and sleep through the night. All of the residents and staff were vaccinated against Covid-19 back in January. I have been able to visit him at least twice a week for 30 mins each time. Once these necessary protocols are lifted, we. Can enjoy participating in the excellent activities there. I have also benefitted greatly from the bi-monthly support group meetings for spouses on Zoom. These sessions are expertly monitored by a professional counselor who makes sure they don’t devolve into unhelpful emotional outbursts. In short, I am very content with my husband’s transition and current status at Renaissance of Annandale! And, I haven’t even mentioned what a beautiful facility it is with wide corridors and brightly colored walls.

The patient is well occupied with activities such as painting, bingo, church, exercise, dancing, beach ball, etc. Care staff has greatly improved her eating and drinking and tries hard to accommodate her needs.

This is the hardest thing I have ever done. The staff helped me through the process and is still helping me through support and guidance. Renaissance of Annandale is bright and open the staff is caring and educated in memory care. The residents have plenty of activities and socialization.
