Do not leave your loved one here if they require any nursing care or personal care without a paid full-time caregiver. My senior husband was there for one week to rehab after brain surgery. Thankfully we were able to have someone with him 24 hours a day. One day, I arrived at 1pm, our caregiver alerted me that morning meds were not given until after noon, even tho she had reminded them more than three times that he had not received his meds yet. This same day, the caregiver told me that the attendant came in to change his sheets and didn't return for more than 20 minutes "because she forgot she wasn't finished". On a daily basis, I had to remind the evening nurse that he needed his night meds (which included zyprexa and melatonin) by 7pm as prescribed, instead of 10pm when administered to other inpatients. When asking for an attendant to help him to restroom or help with his other personal care, it would regularly take 10-15 minutes before getting help. On the last day at August Leewood, I came into his room at 7am to find him practically comatose and lethargic. I asked our night caregiver about his night. She said he was restless and agitated all night and that the staff nurse had taken his vitals during the night and his oxygen was 70!!!! The nurse told our caregiver to turn up the heat and he would be fine (it was 80 degrees in the morning). I immediately went to the head nurse and wanted his oxygen checked again. Again, it was extremely low and the nurse attempted give him oxygen but somehow he blew water thru the hose vents and into his lungs, instead of oxygen!! An ambulance was called, and he was taken to the hospital where he subsequently died. It is common knowledge that oxygen below 90 is dangerous and the patient should be taken to the hospital immediately. But, IF the nurse alerted the facility of his oxygen level during the night, no action was ever taken by Leewood. I was never contacted and 911 never called. With the exclusion of one nurse, one aid & the rehab staff, the facility is staffed with incompetent, complacent, unskilled personnel with a lack of compassion bordering on rude. Patients who are self-sufficient, mobile and only need rehabilitation would find August at Leewood an acceptable option for care!!!

The nurse Ami and the CNA is really good at doing their everybody is . But,I 'have. been watching what they do and their pleasant and joking at times, when the time is right Attentive, clean and always through about their job duties towards my mother Lella Marie Blevins. I know it's hard work, because I used to work in a hospital,in housekeeping. That's hard work too . You can tell, when people are caring and attentive towards their patients. Everything is good. I will be adding a couple of things ,to this s review My mother had to use the bathroom and she pushed the red button ,nobody came .I helped to the bathroom .The person came but she Said she'll come back, she didn't .My mother's back was in pain And needed a Tylenol ,but since nobody came .She wanted to lie flat on the bed.II helped her to the bed and raised the head of the bed ,so she can watch TV and do her puzzles. So,is that s how it's done on weekends? And when people need to talk to everybody with respect, even the one person who works in the business office .We need to show respect to the patients family. And keep their mouth shut God gave you the job and He can take it away,be grateful,or you'll have me to deal with.

My father was admitted to Leewood's skilled nursing/rehab facility 3 days ago. So far I can't say enough nice things about the cleanliness, compassionate and attentive staff. Our care meeting was very professional and the willingness to tailor the needs of my father was heartwarming. I look forward to seeing his progress as the weeks move on.

The facility was very clean and run by a very professional team. My dad was taken care of very well while there. My only reason for not giving it a 5-star rating was because it is very difficult to reach the staff for updates by phone, as it seems like the company needs a new phone system. But as far as the care, it was very great.

Staff team was very welcoming. Explained everything that needed to be completed.

The staff at August Healthcare at Leewood took wonderful care of my mom. They not just took care of her, the cared for her. The facility is being renovated and there are some areas that are a little old but I always knew my mom was safe and well cared for.

It was my second time I visited my friend at Leewood yesterday. Like my first visit there, the facility smells really bad. I have my cousins with me yesterday, they can't take the smell. They left the facility right away. I hope you can do something about it. Please!!!!!!!

It is my privilege to write this review for a facility that has been taking great care of my aging father (turns 90 this year). Many of us go through similar situations as our parent(s) age and they can't take care of themselves anymore. Thus we seek for "help" in places such as August Healthcare at Leewood. Though we wish to take care of our aging parents on our own, sometimes it's best to leave the care to the professionals. It has not been an easy journey for our siblings to choose a place where we can "trust" they will love and take care of our father. Our siblings have searched (sometimes almost hopelessly) as our father has been in several healthcare facilities and Leewood is probably the 5th or 6th place he has been in. At first, everyone is "nice" at all the other places and I must say "pretends" to take care of our father. However, whatever the situation may be for the facility, after a month or so we start noticing the decline of service/attending of our father. Whether he doesn't get fed on time or left alone unattended for a long period without proper hygiene he ends up at the hospital in the emergency room. Someone recommended Leewood. Since our father has been in this facility (going on 7 months - the longest place), he started smiling more and our siblings have seen a huge difference in his care/health. Each time any one of us goes to see him, he looks well-manicured and smells fresh and happy. We don't have set schedules as each of us has different work/family obligations so we visit him randomly as often as we can. Notice that every nurse/caretaker takes care of / looks after our father as if he is their father/grandfather. Not just when we are there. We see genuine love and care for our father. I can't remember each of their names, but just name a few I've interacted with Amy, Aminta, Lux, Hanna, etc. (My apologies for not naming all the wonderful staff starting from the front desk to the cleaning service). Their care is above and beyond! Since our father speaks/understands multiple languages, each of them has taken extra steps to try to learn/use our father's familiar languages and some even call him "papa" or "apa". ‚ I could probably go on and on, but wanted to take the opportunity to thank every one of the staff as well as the management for making Leewood a home away from home for our father. Thank you so much for caring!

My wife recently visited her Dad at August Leewood and she commented how impressed she was with the quality of care he received there from the nurses, CNAs and the entire staff. While I personally haven't had the chance to visit yet, I have been able to see him and the facility via FaceTime on multiple occasions and I could tell he was being well taken care of.

My Dad has been at this facility since last Summer and my siblings were raving about the place. Since I live in Florida, I don't get to visit him that often, however when I visited him in December, I knew why my siblings were raving about this place! First of all, the front desk people were very welcoming and friendly so my first impression was positive. I was impressed how clean the place was and didn't have the smell that I have often experienced in other facilities my Dad has been to. The room was clean and well maintained. The nurses and the entire staff were very friendly, attentive and really showed that they loved caring for my Dad and other patients. When I needed my Dad to be transferred from his bed to his wheelchair they did it promptly. If I had any question or concerns they took the time to answer them. Every single staff I came across each day that I was there had a positive demeanor. I could tell that my Dad liked being there because he always looked rested and content. I would highly recommend this place. In fact, I have already raved about this place to several friends who live in Virginia who have elderly parents.

This facility is better than most in this area. The doctors actually come look at the patients. The workers are more compassionate ( especially Amy) I had my father at another facility prior to this one, and August at Leewood in Annandale is like a five star hotel compared to Burke rehabilitation in Burke Virginia. I definitely recommend August at Leewood.

My brother spent about a month and a half at August Leewood and was VERY pleased with the level and quality of care he received. The facility is very clean and the wing he stayed on had been renovated. He liked the food and said the entire staff... nurses;CNA's ;physical, occupational ,speech therapists; administrators;and cleaning staff were all professional and courteous. He was particularly pleased with the physical therapy he received because he was barely able to walk when he arrived and they were able to get him steady enough on his feet to return home. I would definitely recommend August Leewood.

My wife has been a resident at August Healthcare at Leewood for 3 days now and I can't say enough good things about the quality of care she receives. It's been obvious to me that the staff is very busy but each and every time they've spent time with my wife they are kind, considerate and make her feel she is the only patient they are caring for. Every morning my wife starts her day off in considerable pain from cancer and is taken to INOVA Fairfax for Radiation Treatment. The gentleman (Jerry) transporting my wife to her Radiation Treatment at INOVA Fairfax couldn't be more caring and considerate, a true gentleman in every way.
October 2022
Staff seems nice however the construction being done needs to be sectioned off and plastic hung up because the dust is present. Light fixtures hanging are a danger and looks terrible. A healthcare facility should make a better attempt to at least give the allusion of cleanliness. This is your construction company's lack of care and the facilities should demand them to do better.

Terrence Kee is in charge of operations here at Leewood. He is obviously very much loved by the patients and staff because he actually stops to give some time and attention to anyone who needs him. It's very comforting to see this type of genuine care from the person in charge all the way at the top. Dr. Pham is the physician here and he is also extremely kind and helpful. Last but certainly not least, I would like to thank our CNA Safinatu. She went and got me a cup of ice when she noticed that I was drinking a bottle of room-temp soda and I didn't even have to ask. She pays close attention to detail when it comes to the needs of even the visitors of the patients!

The Leewood Lodge has truly been a home away from home. I am extremely satisfied with all aspects of my admission and the care I am receiving. My care team has been welcoming, professional, and compassionate. They take the time to ask how I am doing, understand my needs, encourage me to stay active, and respect my privacy. I am comfortable communicating my health concerns and, best of all, I am always confident that they will address them expeditiously.

I'm a private duty caregiver and my client has a family member at Leewood. I pulled up to the covered awning and escorted my client to the front door. Returning to my car and circling the drive way a few times, a gentleman who was standing outside flagged me down. He introduced himself as the Administrator of Leewood and offered me HIS parking space that was very close to the door! It's not very many members of upper management who would offer their prime parking spot, but he did! I'm very impressed with Leewood!
