January 17th 2026 our lives were flipped upside down, when my very healthy mom had a cardiac event. After a month in and out of hospitals and rehab facilities, we were fed up with her level of care. That's when we found Helping Hands. We were able to bring mom home and have full time care so that she could heal in her own home. The caregivers were excellent and paid Mom a lot of attention and care. We felt supported for the 3 months of her care and are so thankful she was able to recover at home!

Recently I flew to Florida to help my sister, Sandra Tagliaferro. I was with her from 3/19/26 to 3/24/26. Her morning aide was Debra Morgan. Debra was with Michael (Sandra’s husband) from 7 am to 7 pm every day. I was very impressed with Debra! She was always punctual & reliable, she showed great clinical ability while being professional & compassionate each day, my sister could always depend on Debra to do the right thing to help Michael through the last days of his life. We had peace of mind when Debra was with us. Additionally, I must tell you that I am a retired hospice social worker. I worked with the VNA in New York for 7 years. Home Health Aides were a part of hospice services at that time (from 2004 to 2011. So I have seen many HHAs during that time. I never saw anyone better all around than Debra! She’s the best! This is an acknowledgement about 2 of the home health aids at Helping Hands in Lakeland, FLorida that I would like to tell you about. When my husband was diagnosed with terminal Cancer several months ago , I thought I would take care of him myself but as the disease progressed to such a degree, that I knew I needed more help. They sent two of the most helpful and compassionate ladies I could ever hope for. Debra Morgan was my daytime aid and Neressa James worked the overnight shift. These two women were professional in every aspect of my husband's care. They gave my husband his medication when it was due and recorded it in a timely manner. He was treated with kindness and compassionate care. These ladies were a Godsend to me in so many ways and always listened to my anxious fears and worries as the disease worsened. It was so comforting to know I had them with me each day and night. I can't imagine how I would gotten through this challenging ordeal without their help. I thank God for them everyday.

My siblings and I and our spouses and families along with our Aunt and cousins became caregivers for our almost 94 year old Mother when dementia progressed and she fell and fractured her hip. To our surprise, the doctor told us that we had to let them do surgery so that she at least would have a chance to get up and move and not be bedridden for the rest of her life. She hadn’t been left alone in several years night or day, someone was with her so we continued this for her hospital stay and then when she was about to be transferred to a facility for rehab we reached out to Kevin Curtain who we knew from church and also to Marla from HELPING HANDS to get some advice and guidance. We quickly set up nighttime caregivers for our time at the Rehab facility and we took care of the daytime. Merita and Tameka from HELPING HANDS were lifesavers for us while we were there. We then transferred her to another facility when her rehab time was up and we needed a lockdown place. Once again, family became caregivers around the clock. We brought her home after a month and began to use HELPING HANDS again for the days and we took care of the nights. We were thrilled when Merita was able to come and care for her during the weekdays and on the weekends we had Lucy and then Irene and Holly from HELPING HANDS. These ladies had so much love and respect for our mother and everyone in our family and took such wonderful care of her. They became family to us. We were determined to try and do the best that we could because of the love that we shared for each other and for our Mother. Nurse Marissa, who served as a Certified Nursing Assistant, for (Helping Hand Nursing Services) in a memory care assisted living facility and provided care for my mother, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, and her second husband, who suffered from dementia, until their passing in 2024. Throughout her time caring for them, Nurse Marissa consistently demonstrated an exceptional level of professionalism, medical competence, and compassion that far exceeded the expectations of her role as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She skillfully managed the complex needs associated with advanced cognitive decline, including personal care, safety, comfort, and emotional reassurance, while maintaining dignity and respect. What distinguished Nurse Marissa most, was the genuine warmth and humanity she brought to her work. She spoke to and interacted with my mother and her husband as though they were her own parents”patiently, lovingly, and with deep respect. In moments of confusion or distress, her calm presence and reassuring manner provided comfort not only to them, but also to our family. My father was released from the hospital unexpectedly on a Friday night. I panicked because I knew we'd need extra help right away. I have been taking care of her for the past two years, but her care has become more than I am able to handle. Helping Hand was there for our Father when he was failing in 2019. We had some wonderful caregivers for more than 2 years. Now our Mother is declining and Helping Hand was our first choice for additional care. There are new people there, but I was delighted to talk to some of the same staff we worked with in 2016! Awesome service provided for patients to be able to go home and receive nursing care from end of life to basic care to live out their lives at home. The compassion and care for each patient along with support to family's who are overwhelmed during the initial process of making decisions. The owner Marla personally gets involved to assure a smooth transition for the patient and the family. As a case manager I would recommend their services without a doubt the patients care and needs will come first.I have never had any negative feedback from family members but praise for their support and care of their loved ones.

Highly recommended. I am familiar with one employee, whose name is Doris, who has been taking care of my elderly neighbor for quite some time. My neighbor has multiple health issues and Doris has always been there for her in more ways than one. And this is a difficult case, in my opinion. She is knowledgeable, compassionate and professional. She has made appropriate calls when the neighbor was taking turns for the worse. The family and patient trust her completely. The company has a diamond with Doris. I do not know any of the other caregivers with Helping Hand, but if all of their caregivers are like Doris, this is the only company to go with for your beloved family members care needs.

My family and I were sitting with my brother around the clock in his last days of terminal illness. As you can imagine we were exhausted and needed clinical nursing support. The office staff were so kind and listened to our need. They scheduled the perfect caregiver to help us. Ms Willie Mae is the angel God sent to us and we will be forever grateful for Helping Hands. Had a caregiver helping my 88 year old mother, after about 3 months of her helping mom 2-3 days a week, I get a call saying the caregiver requested to get out of helping mom, mom loved her as did I , but helping hands left mom with nobody and now I can’t do anything because I have to stay home now! Thanks a lot.. loosers

We were in a tight spot when my dad had a stroke and fell and needed to be hospitalized dand my mother with memory issues needed someone to stay with her overnight.. I was driving to Florida from PA and called Helping Hands. Marla was so sweet and helped me out by getting Jeannette to stay with my mom, until I could get there the next day. I would highly recomment this group if you are ever in need of personal care for a loved one. Thank you.

My 92 yr old neighbor has no local relatives, she fell broke her hip and pelvic bones. She spent 5 days in hospital. Due to covid 19 the rehabs were not taking new patients. I got a call from hospital to say she had signed herself out and was going home. This was Thanksgiving Week end. I needed help fast. Lucky to find Helping Hands and Marla. She took over immediately and called her people to start 24 hr. care. Thank you Marla and all your girls who are great.

Our Helping Hand caregiver, on her third night with our mom, saved her life. She is a CNA with good experience and instincts. When things went awry, she recognized the serious issue and took immediate action. She called us in the middle of the night and then stayed with us until help arrived, keeping everyone calm and even moving furniture for a clear stretcher path. As we rushed to the hospital, she stayed and put things back together so Mom's return will be to a comfortable, clean, orderly place. All of this goes so far beyond what we expected and we are so grateful. When Mom is ready to come home, Helping Hand is the first place we will call. We look forward to seeing this amazing caregiver again and also to meeting others who will be needed in addition. We trust Helping Hand to send us highly capable, kind caregivers.

We had Helping Hands Senior services for two weeks following my spine surgery. My rating and recommendation are of the highest possible both from a care and a professional perspective. The staff, from the office personnel to the caregivers, were outstanding in every way. They were punctual, prepared and willing to perform their duties as requested and/or needed. On a scale of 1 to 10, I give them a 20!!

This agency operates exactly how home care should be! Caring, compassionate staff from start to finish. The nursing director/administrator is wonderful & knowledgeable. I’ve used many services & Helping Hand wins every award from office personnel to the home care employees. Everything we’ve needed, asked for, we’ve received. We have had this service for years now and have always had a good experience. If there was ever any small issues the owner made sure it was rectified immediately and we were completely satisfied. This is how I wish companies would run today with care for the customer.
