Reviews Constant Care
August 2022
I hired their home health care agency to care for my mother during the days that I work> I am a nurse practitioner , so I know how a bed-bound , frail 102-year-old woman should be cared for. Two men were sent to care for her. The first was a big fellow who was anything but gentle. He did not know how to properly position her. . My mom was awake, capable of visiting, lisenting to music, and watching TV, I came home, the shutters were drawn and the room was darkened so he could watch his movies or TV on his phone. Two weeks before her death, he put her on a bedside commode. It was close to the time he was to leave. I had come home and he put her back to bed. he had no idea how to transfer a patient who could bear some weight. He literally, roughly, dragged her back to bed scaping her legs causing two huge skin tears that were bleeding profusely. The guy then just left! I had no dressings. I called the director telling him I had no dressings> He said his agency wasn't responsible that hospice needed to provide the dressings. Hospice said they would come in the AM. I had to ask a neighbor who went to three pharmacies to get colloidal dressings. I was left with having to change the blood-filled bed. As if that wasn't bad enough,... The other man who came the final week - and with my work, I did not have time to search for another agency that last week. Same thing. Instead of rolling my mom side to side, he roughly lifted her onto the diaper and gave her another large painful skin tear on her other leg. This agency does not provide adequate training. They then had the nerve to try to charge me for those last two sessions. The director took a very cavalier attitude regarding what caused my mom and me unnecessary suffering at the end of her life. And she was thin and fragile, but her skin was not fragile and paper thin.
