To have almost drowned in the unrelenting quagmire of our beleaguered healthcare system, was both painful and terrifying. True, I had heard people speak of the frustration and sense of helplessness in trying to advocate for a loved one. Never could I have imagined the inhumanity of it all. My 82 year old husband of 55 years had already endured multiple hospital stays; a preventable fall while at rehab; an eye-opening period at a free-standing hospice; the rigidity of Medicare, and no place to rest in peace. We were faced with the looming threat of a potential end-of-life-sentence in a nursing home riddled with multiple dangers. Would this unthinkable specter to be the tragic reality of his passing? I found myself wondering if anybody was there, if anybody cared, or if anybody could see what I saw? With my husband’s health steadily declining and our family physically and emotionally exhausted, we needed help. And then a lifeline to a dignified, gentle, respectful, and humane end-of-life experience presented itself to us. Save Haven is a unique personal care home in Lenox Park where hospice is able to deliver its services. In addition, patients are cared for round the clock by a dedicated staff who utilize careful consideration and respect in even the smallest detail. We visited daily and were always welcomed with warmth and a special kind of sincere affection that grew out of real caring. The home was immaculate, comfortable, secure, and bright. Indeed this was truly a Safe Haven where my husband was able to die with peace, grace, and his integrity. Safe Haven is very special place for both its residents and their families.

Safe Haven is simply put, the cream of the crop when it comes to elder care. My father had a number of complex mobility and memory care issues and he received top notch care from Detra, the head caregiver, and her wonderful team. Our family was enveloped in the loving Safe Haven community created and overseen by Alla. Alla's philosophy of providing first-rate care with dignity and class is a treasure and something that I have not seen anywhere else (and believe me I have looked far and wide). I only wish there were more locations all around the country, but I also know that this is a very special place that cannot be replicated. Safe Haven is a place for anyone who needs a safe, supportive environment but doesn't want to abandon the comforts of home. It doesn't feel like a facility, even though they have the capability to handle residents in the same way a facility does. Safety and well-being is top of mind but it's also a beautiful place for families to visit and spend precious moments.

My beloved life partner was lovingly cared for at Safe Haven at Lenox Park. There aren’t adequate words to express my gratitude to Alla and her caring staff. It was a bittersweet ending to a long and progressive disease. I highly recommend Safe Haven at Lenox Park to any family needing heart-centered care.

I was moving my father from out of state to Atlanta and had looked at numerous places for him to live. The minute I visited Safe Haven I knew I had found the right place. My father had dementia and numerous other medical conditions and the professional and knowledgable staff knew how to care for and help him (and me) to address many challenges with kindness and respect. Alla and Detra lead the team of caregivers with years of experience. But Safe Haven is about more than efficency and competent care. The house is truly a home for the residents and the caregivers really do care about the people living there. Each person is a valued individual and is always treated with respect and compassion as are family members. (And family is always welcomed and encouraged to visit.) I felt so comfortable with the care he received which is such a blessing. My father passed away earlier this year. I am so grateful to the wonderful people at Safe Haven for the way they cared for, respected and enjoyed my father.

My family is so grateful that a place like Safe Haven exists. When you are faced with the decision of how to best care for a loved one, outside of your home, it feels like it's the biggest decision you may ever have to make. Somehow we found Safe Haven in our internet searches. Once we met with Alla, we knew this was the place for my Mom. Simply put, Safe Haven provides not only the highest quality care, but peace of mind that your loved one is safe, respected and loved. My mother was there for 7 mos and was part of their family from day 1. The caregivers at Safe Haven are extraordinary people, who do selfless work. My family is extremely grateful to everyone there for loving my mother and caring for her, like we would care for her, until her last days. Thank you so much!

My mother spent her final 18 mos at Safe Haven. With dementia and macular degeneration, her care wasn’t easy. Her wonderful team was there to guide us every step of the way including hospice and even Mom’s final days. We are eternally grateful for their love, humor and friendship. Thank you.

My mother was a resident of Safe Haven, Lenox Park, from December 2020-May 2022. We moved her here from a facility in VA after my dad passed. When she arrived she was unable to walk, even with a walker. Within one month of living at Safe Haven, she was able to walk with assistance or a walker. The level of care she received at Safe Haven was outstanding. They really care about the residents and treat them like they are members of their families. The residents ate their meals family style and they were treated with respect and dignity. When my mother would visit our house on weekends, she would tell us she was ready to go home (not the facility!) when she was tired. We give Safe Haven the highest accolades for how they took care of our mother and highly recommend it to anyone considering a long term care facility.

Mom has been here for about two years and loves it. They are fabulous at managing her Alzheimer's- endlessly patient and genuinely caring. As Mom used to say in her most adamant voice, "this is MY house". Update: it has now been about three years. Mom just recently passed away, peacefully holding the hands of her wonderful nurse. I could not ask for more than for her to be comforted and cared for in her final moments by people who loved her. I am so grateful for everyone at Safe Haven. Mom has been a total handful at times especially when she was still in good physical shape (Mom often gave me, a woman who works with special needs children for a living, hell when we went to the doctor together, lol). But at Safe Haven all her attempts at elopement or other behaviors were taken in stride and artfully redirected no one ever took things personally or used an unkind voice. I do not mention that without good reason- at her previous memory care home Sunset down the road we had a much different experience. I always knew her behavior was very closely monitored at SH for any new or worsening symptoms or medication side effects and I was updated quickly if a change was needed. It gave such peace of mind to know she was with good people. Thanks, to all! <3

Wow, Safe Haven was amazing, by far the best decision we made in mom's care during her last years. I'm so grateful a spot was available when we needed to move from assisted living to 24-7 care. It was a hard few years, but knowing she was in the best situation possible was a huge comfort. Thanks Dee & Kimma for loving mom well.

My Mom spent the last three years of her life at Safe Haven. She was not just well taken care of, she was loved. Alla and her staff were wonderful. It was a comfort and blessing to our family to have Mom there. I would make the same decision again without hesitation. We are all grateful we found a Safe Haven for Mom. It is a special, caring place. Thank you all.

Staff are very well trained in MULTIPLE areas including Alzheimers and Dementia. They focus on each residents personal care and diet. Super ratio of residents to caregivers. They treat each resident as if they were their own loved one. Highly recommend. Must See!!

My mother transferred here from memory care and assisted living after a fall that caused multiple fractures prohibited her from returning there. Having experienced the mayhem of corporate nursing homes during rehab stays, my siblings and I were determined to find a place for mom where she could receive individual care in a natural, home-like setting. After 6 moves in 3 years, we wanted the move to Safe Haven to be her last. Mom really did respond to the calm and loving environment there. She regained limited mobility, and enjoyed meals of home-cooked food at the dining room table. Although advanced dementia limited her ability to converse, she remained responsive to family and staff. We enjoyed visiting, especially when the weather was nice for walks outside or time in the garden. Of course no one knows your loved one better than you do, so advocacy for them is still vital. But stringent hiring typically maintained capable and empathetic caregivers. We owe a tremendous debt to Detra, the house manager. She is utterly devoted to each resident and does whatever is necessary as needs arise. She was quick to text or call if there were any concerns or questions. Her years of experience helped guide our family through those final months with comfort. I cannot think of any place else that my mother or family would have received such personal care.

We found Safe Haven quite by accident but are so glad we did. Mom was 94 and needed more help than the typical Assistant Living facility could offer. Even with the highest level of care! We were told that we needed to have private agencies come in at $15-17/hour, which our finances could not support. We had never heard of a Personal Care Home before. With only six residents mom got all the care she needed plus so much more. It was never a facility to us... it was mom's home. You need to tour Safe Haven before you look anywhere else...

Absolutely the best. I am a traveling clinician and I have spent time in nearly every ALF, SNF in Atlanta. I get a good idea of how things really go behind the scenes and after the family is not around. It is CLEAN, the meals are made from scratch (not cafeteria style), the owners are personable and friendly, and the staff is happy, polite, and concerned. If I ever had to put MY family member in Assisted Living, this is where I would take them.

Safe Haven has provided an excellent option for senior living. The community in which they have established creates an environment which makes their clients feel like they are at home. With the business being family owned and operated it creates a sense of trust that is unparalleled to any other assisted living facility. Highly recommended!

"Wow I can't believe it took me so long to find Safe Haven. It is truly a hidden gem when it comes to Assisted Livings. Everyone I talked to only knows of bigger communities like Sunrises and Atrias. My mother has been living with Alzheimer's for the last 10 years. She lived in 3 other 'bigger' communities during the last 10 years. Once we heard about Safe Haven we had to at least check it out. The staff seems very professional and happy (can't say that about many places). Most of their staff have been there many years. Owners are very hands on and are extremely accessible (can't say that about many places). The food is prepared daily and is served fresh (no frozen vegetables or canned soups). They have an organic garden where the residents plant their own vegetables and eat it in salads during summer months. There is a fruit orchard in the back of Safe Haven and the residents indulge the fresh fruits daily. My mom seems so much happier here. It was worth being on a waiting list for 3 months. What can you say, everyone wants to be in a great community like Safe Haven, that's why there is always a waiting list. My mother is not a dollar sign but a dignified human being. Safe Haven values life and human spirit. My advice to anyone, go ahead and tour this place. Even if it's not the right product for your loved one now, there might be a time where you'll come running with a deposit. I am forever grateful to have found Safe Haven Assisted Living Home!"

I am privileged to share my elderly mother's experience living at Safe Haven Assisted Living home. My sisters and I were very careful and meticulous in searching for a home for my mom in the Atlanta metropolitan area because she suffers from COPD, sleep apnea and fibromyalgia. Our family took the time to interview many assisted living facilities in the Atlanta area. One of the qualities that immediately stood out after meeting the owners and staff of Safe Haven was their kind and family oriented atmosphere. I personally sat down with the owner of Safe Haven looked him in the eye and told him my mother's story, her medical condition, her lifestyle, what she likes and dislikes. He reassured me that my mom would be treated and cared for like family with professionalism and diligence. As time passed, I saw that the owners and staff that operate Safe Haven deliver on their word. They genuinely do treat me and my family like family. It was a feeling of care that continued from the moment we arrived for our initial appointment to this very day. My mother enjoys eating organic produce and making vegetable/fruit smoothies high in anti-oxidants as her daily routine. Safe Haven makes a commitment to growing vegetables and fruits for the residents from their various gardens during summer months. I was really impressed with the emphasis Safe Haven puts on nutrition and meal preparation and the staff's knowledge of nutritional health. As a nutritionist myself, I really enjoyed learning and sharing with the Safe Haven staff. Safe Haven is capable in accommodating anyone with special dietary needs. My mother continues to establish long lasting relationships not only with the Staff but also with the other residents. One day while visiting my mom, I took the time to also get to know some of her new friends and found out they are a great bunch with tons of life experiences. The staff is very professional and top notch. I sleep safe and sound knowing my mother is under watch at the Safe Haven Assisted Living home. I can call anytime of the day to check on her and the family atmosphere is always inviting so I don't hesitate to stop by and visit to drop off my mom's favorite treat or flowers to make her day! Thanks so much for making my mom's home a "real" home. One that knows how to nurture and cherish the people we honor and love the most. Our parents. Nomaste, T. Eric

I toured and loved it! Too bad there was no vacancy as I needed something immediate for my mom. If there was a vacancy would have moved her in the next day for sure. Such a great place! I'll be in touch.

This review is for Safe Haven at Brookhaven, sister personal care home to the one at Lenox Park. I am so happy that my friend told me about Safe Haven when I was looking for a place for my mother who has dementia. I had told my friend about how disillusioned I was after visiting some of the larger assisted living facilities and trying to imaging how a person with confusion, failing confidence and fear of the unknown could navigate. Safe Haven is a small community, in a lovely, sun-filled, uplifted facility with 6 residents. The staff are very attentive and know each resident, their needs and idiosyncrasies. The staff show a genuine expression of caring for each resident. I like that the owners and managers of the homes are on site often and are committed to providing the best in care at Safe Haven.

I have a family member currently living at Safe Haven. She previously lived at a much larger facility. The previous place was great when she was more independent. Now that she needs more personal care, we moved her here and are very happy. It's a small facility that really cares about the people living there. The house is beautiful and home-like. The caregivers are friendly and responsive. I definitely recommend Safe Haven to anyone.

We LOVE this personal care home! Exactly what Mother / Helen needed. Family owned and operated. Wonderful kind staff. Each resident gets the attention he/she deserves, and it makes such a big difference. Real home-cooked food, cooked right in the kitchen where everyone can see -- it always smells wonderful! Residents are encouraged to socialize, exercise, play games, and do whatever they are able to do. Other facilities can change like the wind as management and staff turn over, which is what happened to us. We searched a long time and finally found Safe Haven. Mother is so much happier here! If you have a loved one looking for a personal care home, you definitely should check out Safe Haven!

We were tired of dealing with big institution type facilities. The care just wasn't there, the food wasn't good and the staff turnover was very high. My mom has early onsets of dementia and thank God, one of the doctors at Emory recommended Safe Haven. After being on a wait list a few months, a room finally opened up. To date, mother has been at Safe Haven for 3 years and loves it. They have an open door policy, families and kids are always welcomed. It's a smaller environment where dementia residents really thrive. Food is just great, activities are just enough. Residents are not intimidated by being in a small, family type community, as some were at bigger places I would encourage everyone who has a parent or a loved one that needs more care than what is currently being provided elsewhere to at least visit Safe Haven. They hardly ever have vacancies, but it's worth a wait.

This ended up being the most ideal environment for my Dad. Safe Haven is sort of like a boutique hotel. It has all the amenities of a larger facility, but provides a more personalized experience. The staff is really nice and the food is really good!
