It was my privilege to have my sweet wife JoAnn Griffin under your care from June 21 - July 12, 2024. While it certainly was not in our plans for this to happen, Avalon came to us through what I am convinced was divine intervention. She certainly preferred to be at home, but hospice care through Allstar was required, and the constant attention and compassion she received while she was there was beyond reproach. I came to visit her every day for the 22 days she was there, and I was by her side in the early morning hours of July 12 when the Lord called her Home. I am weeping while I'm writing this, but I again thank you for everything. Michael Griffin

Fourteen months ago it became apparent, after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's and having had a hip replacement, that we would need to find a care facility for our dad. After visiting several places, we chose Avalon. That was the best decision we ever made! Though dad was often very difficult, the caregivers (JJ, Misty, Mama, Kim and more) continued to love him as their own father/grandfather. Not only did he receive excellent care and attention, but our family was cared for as well. One week ago today, dad had a neurological event which caused him to decline very rapidly. My heart was touched and I was brought to tears as I watched caregiver after caregiver quietly walk into his room, gently touch or kiss his forehead or cheek, and speak loving words over him. He passed away yesterday having been well loved by his Avalon family. I cannot recommend Avalon highly enough.

We had to find a place for dad and after seeing Avalon and speaking with the staff and management we felt like this was the place. Dad's only been there about a month but so far they have been great. Very responsive to our numerous questions and the staff is always kind. As for my dad, every time I visit (3-4 times a week) he is clean, hair brushed and in new clothes. They have all been amazing so far and we are blessed to have found Avalon.

Avalon Memory Care took wonderful care of both my Mom (2.5 years) and Dad (1.5 years) suffering from Alzheimer's. I cannot say enough good things about the facility in Allen, Texas, but most importantly the staff working there day in and day out. They are truly Angels on Earth caring for and attending to my parents, as well as, all the other residents. It was a hard decision to remove my parents from their home, but the nice, always friendly faces at Avalon Memory Care of Allen helped ease that transition and feelings of guilt I had doing it. It was the best for them and to keep them from harm. I will be forever grateful to Avalon for providing a safe place for my parents near the end of their lives and I highly recommend Avalon. A truly great place and inspiring people.

The decision one makes to remove a loved one from a safe, controlled environment at home and into a new and strange one is a tough decision to make. It is also, frequently, done at a desperate time. After considering other assisted living facilities, we moved our 93-year-old dad to Avalon Memory Care. All of the staff are so warm and caring. They are well-trained and friendly. The welcoming living room near the dining room and open kitchen is ideal because the staff can see all of the residents at all times. The backyard is beautiful. They really encourage families to visit by planning family-friendly events and performances.

My mother was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson's. We had her in an assisted living facility for about a year and a half before she passed. She was in Avalon Memory Care the last two months of her life, and the staff and services gave her a dignified end of life. There are many dedicated professionals who worked with my mom over the year and a half, but I wish we had moved her to Avalon earlier.

We decided it was time to place Mom in March of this year (2020). We knew it would be a difficult transition because of Covid, but it was time. We moved her in, decorated her room, and made it as much like home as we could. The staff have been amazing, even with the strain of a pandemic. We were unable to see Mom in person for several months, but were able to call on facetime and zoom. We call the facility and talk to the staff and they give us updates on Mom. Daisy is amazing and even takes the time to send us pictures of Mom doing some of her activities. We have finally been able to go to in person visits (2 of us anyway - only 1 at a time), but it was awesome!!! I wasn't expecting much, but an hour, in her room, one on one, was the best blessing of the year so far. The facility is beautiful, always clean and tidy, and it makes me happy knowing the staff does everything possible to ensure that the residents are socialized and involved. I highly recommend Avalon to anyone who has to make the difficult choice to move their loved one.

During this time of COVID, it is difficult to make decisions regarding memory care for our loved ones, specifically when we are unable to tour a facility. Back in April 2020, this is exactly what my brothers and I ran into when looking for a facility that would care for my mom and dad. While unable to tour, we worked closely with Michelle, in Admissions. Michelle spent time on the phone with my brothers and I to answers questions and even spoke to our hearts regarding our difficult decision. In addition, Michelle shared pictures of the facility and explained the ratio of caregivers to residents. Michelle made special arrangements that allowed us to move my mom and dad's personal belongings to Avalon and at the same time keeping current residents safe. Manager NayNay, Susie and all the caregivers (Katherine, Kiki, Anna, Maria, etc.) in building 7140, where my mom resides, and Manager Daisy and all the caregivers (Marissa, Jasmine, Brenda, Alberto, "Mama", etc.) in building 7120, where my dad resides, have been incredible! They are trained to work with memory care residents and are patient and loving at the same time. Even though my parents had a rough go of the transition, they now understand the importance of being safe, cared for and loved. In addition, phone calls are always welcome to the resident and now we are getting to experience "outside visitations". NayNay and Susie, as well as, Daisy and Marissa are always open to addressing questions regarding daily routines, care, physician visits, etc. In addition, COVID precautions are taken seriously to keep all residents safe. The staff at 7140 and 7120 and the care they provide give my brothers and I a peace of mind that our parents are safe and loved. We continue to pray for our parents and all Avalon administration and caregivers for their compassion, safety and well-being. We pray for you too, as you travel the road to finding the perfect place for your loved ones. Philippians 4:6-7

We moved our father to Avalon in October of 2019. We chose Avalon because of it's smaller more family like occupancy as well as the facility's layout and appearance. What has troubled me about senior care homes is that a lot of them look institutional even if they are decorated well. Avalon has one giant family room, an open concept kitchen and eating area and two wings of bedrooms - much like a family home. I think it's important to smell the food being cooked and see the people who prepare it - just like a home. Since it is smaller, the residents can get individual attention. Relationships are able to be formed between caregivers and management when the resident count is low. Our Dad always looks very well cared for when we come to visit. The staff is responsive to our questions and concerns. We are always welcomed anytime we want to visit. Which brings me to writing this. It must be horrific to be faced with this kind of decision and the facility can't be toured and you can't move your loved one in yourself. Avalon is extremely nice and super clean. The rooms are nicely sized and their bathrooms are well appointed which is essential in providing proper care. Avalon's owners, management and caregivers all have passion for the job (I call it a ministry) they do to care for those that need their care. We are pleased with Avalon and thankful our Dad is getting the care he needs there.

What a blessing and God-send! My sister and I placed our mother at Avalon's Arlington location. The care she received was absolutely amazing! The atmosphere is tender, compassionate, and loving. Nay, Nay, Suzy, Nisha, Michelle, Katherine, and all of the staff are so warm and caring. They also helped so much when we had to navigate decisions such as putting my mother on hospice. I cannot think of any better place. Even all the way up to the CEO, the care of everyone associated with Avalon was amazing. I would highly recommend Avalon to anyone.

My sister has been a resident of Avalon Keller for the last 18 months. We are very pleased with the care and service she has received from this Avalon location. The staff immediately grasped the urgent need of our situation when we first visited, and promptly acted to get my sister transferred here from another facility. The district manager, Sue B., and her staff have taken great care of my sister, and have assisted me through all of her needed hospitalizations. My sister can be difficult at times, and the staff has been patient and caring. This facility is well kept, and the setting is very home like. My sister looks forward to the meals, and I have found them to be of consistent high quality and well presented. The Covid 19 precautions for the residents are thorough, and have been well communicated. As with any facility, there have been some bumps, but they have been promptly addressed after bringing them to the staff's attention. My family and I certainly feel that our decision to choose Avalon was the absolute right choice for my sister.

The team at Avalon has been a great group to work with. They made recommendations to assist us with the move from home to the facility. Without their help I believe the transfer would have been a traumatic experience for my wife and for me. With their guidance the transition went smoothly. Since the move they have been attentive to our concerns and provided answers to all our questions. The small house sizes and the high ratio of caregivers to residents is reassuring. Prior to the pandemic daily visits from family members were always welcome and pleasant . When the Covid 19 caused a shutdown of visits they were helpful in trying to maintain communication through telephone and video visits. As the restrictions have eased they made outside visits very comfortable and now we are able to have inside visits with very strict protections in place. I would recommend Avalon to any family that is searching for the right placed for a loved one with memory issues.

I was very apprehensive about moving my father to a memory care facility; however, after finding Avalon I know that we made the best decision for him. The staff is very friendly and professional, the facility is always neat and clean but most of all my father seems happy and well cared for. I was not able to visit with him for approximately 6 months due to Covid-19 rules. Daisy, Marisa, and the rest of the staff kept me up to date on how he was doing and arranged teleconference calls so that we could keep in touch. We have recently been allowed back into the facility and my dad's room and rest of the facility has been well maintained. I would highly recommend Avalon to anyone looking for memory care for a parent or loved one.

The time came to put my Mother into a memory care facility after her husband and caretaker suddenly passed away in April. She has dementia and needs special care. A family friend suggested we look at Avalon because of friends they knew had loved ones there. My first impression was how nice it was to pull up to a building that looked more like a real home than a facility. The entrance was nice and inviting with that open concept for the kitchen and main gathering area. The staff is always very accommodating and pleasant to work with. I always feel that Mom is in good hands of people that care about her and will go the extra mile to make sure that Mom is comfortable. I cant say enough how much the staff does for the residents to ensure they are well taken care of. I would highly recommend that anyone who has a loved one with alzheimers or dementia consider Avalon for their care.

I took care of my mother during her illness of Alzheimer's for about 7 years before it became apparent she needed more help than I could give. The hardest decision is to have to place a loved one into the care of someone else. I found Avalon Memory Care and after much deliberation and thought, we moved my mom into the memory care home. The home and it's staff helped my mom transition into her new normal and allowed her to be as active as she could possibly be. As the disease continued they adjusted their care to meet her needs. In the final two years she was on Hospice. The staff worked closely with Hospice and myself in the end of life care for my mom. I never felt my mom's best interest was not at the forefront of every decision we had to make. She passed peacefully in the home. The staff comforted my family and cried with us as they had grown close to her during those years. It is never an easy decision for a family to make for their loved one. I am so thankful Avalon came into our life at a time we desperately needed them. They walked along side us and my mom and we are so very grateful. Thank you.

Two stars for cleanliness but the night staff was a real disappointment. Luckily we live near by and were able to come by in the evenings. One night the staff had served my 95 year old father hot dogs and chili to eat. Two nights later my dad was allowed to wander the halls and fall. We moved him soon after.
