Thank you to the staff at Terra Vista for welcoming our Dad, showing him kindness and restoring his dignity from day one! We loved seeing how each and every resident was treated with so much kindness and respect and were so happy he was able to join Terra Vista's community. In our search to find a place that truly understood how his dementia impacted him and provide him with as much freedom as possible, we toured other residences that seemed to manage their residents through physical means and heavy medications. Touring Terra Vista was refreshing in that their staff seemed to not only understand people with dementia but embrace them and take the time to understand each resident's wants and needs. They made such a difference for Dad and we are so grateful! - Walter's family!

Incredible! Ellen was outstanding how she showed off your beautiful home. Being new to finding a home for dad we felt Ellen was incredible helping us understand what we needed to know and providing all we needed. My wife has been at TerraVista of Oakbrook Terrace for about 3 1/2 months. I have always found the facility to be clean, my wife's room to be clean, and the caregivers always attentive. They are always calm when working with the residents. The staff has always been available when I have questions to ask. TerraVista of Oakbrook Terrace was recommended to me as a memory care facility, by a friend whose job includes making these recommendations. He didn't know that I live only five minutes from this facility, but recommended this facility as the place he would have his mother go to, should she need this type of care. And he lives about an hour away. After doing my own research I agreed thatTerra Vista of Oakbrook Terrace was the place for my wife.

You will never find better. My Mother was there for over 2 years before she subcomed to dementia. Never once did I ever have to worry about her. My dad was a resident of Terra Vista for nearly 2 years. Im so thankful that we found Terra Vista to care for him during his fight against Alzheimers. Once my Dad got to Terra Vista our family could have a bit of peace because of the compassionate care we feel they gave him. We had 2 other care facilities that Dad was in before he arrived at Terra Vista, the 2 other facilities were not a good experience, to see the difference in care and compassion at Terra Vista I only wish we would have found Terra Vista sooner. My Mom was a resident for fifteen months until Feb 2020. Placing your loved one in memory care is emotionally fraught. Running a memory care facility well is monumentally difficult. They cant possibly do everything right, nor do everything right to everyones taste, but it is a well run and compassionate facility. Many of the employees are saints. I was fortunate to have found it.

My father, John Dekker lived in this community since they opened. Moving in on 10-6-16 and passing away there on 3-23-19. Having the same caregivers that dad knew from day one became his family. The activities were designed around dads interests in life, through special programs. There was a variety to group activities along with going places in small groups on the bus. So frequently different people came in to sing songs of my dads era, brought exotic animals in. Commonly youll see other families of residents share their pet dogs. Along with grandchildren and having birthday parties in the Utopia Lounge. Ive personally had a lot of fun playing ping pong with 3 special kids. One of the main things that enticed me was the inner circle. The freedom for my father to go outside. Not only did the nurses, caregivers, cleaning staff and all the professionals show love and true kindness to my dad but me as well. Ive already been back there just to visit because they all have become family and friends to me. Of course, some closer than others. Along with my favorite residents that recognize me. Thats because they became friends with my dad. After loosing my dad, if I need a hug... I know where to go. Plus the joy of giving hugs to the precious residents. The proof is in what my dads Northwestern neurologist, specialist in Alzheimers. Dr Zoran Grujic told me after having enough data of cognitive testing on my dad that Terra Vista is doing something very right, my dads cognitive level of vascular Alzheimers stayed level until Nov-2018. And thats also when his body began to rapidly decline. Way back when I heard such great news on dads progress....I was so proud to tell Natalie McFarland that Dr Grujic wants his social worker to visit your facility. I was thrilled because I had the difficult decision to place my father in a facility. THAT WAS HARD!!! And I felt so grateful that I chose a place thats making a mark on the map in the western suburbs. Im sorry this is so lengthy. I need to tell anyone that is reading this. When I put dad into Terra Vista he got off hospice. At home he had been bed ridden, inches away from death. Moving my father into Terra Vista, he started walking with a walker, reading books, it was as though he woke up. A true miracle. He had a lust for life in his new home. And this is the best part. He fell in love again with another resident named Christine Wells. Remember to tell your loved one about the great things that can happen being with other people. People are love. And yes, this facility promotes it.

My dad has Dementia so we were looking for a place to take him. Doing this was a really stressful situation. I didnt just want to stick my dad any place. I wanted to make sure he was going to get the attention he needed, get taken care of, and also help him with different learning projects to help him prolong the disease. I called Terra Vista and a specialist was on the phone with me for 40 minutes. I got all the questions answered and she didnt once try to rush me off. Finally, we came in to look around and have an evaluation on my dad. They were great with him and the facility looked great. Lots to do, activities, and open areas. My dad has been here for a month now and Im beyond happy with my decision.

Ive officially moved my father in here last month. This move for me was incredibly hard. I didnt want my dad to go somewhere and not have the help he needs with his dementia. When I first came in I spoke with Nancy who gave me every last bit of information I needed. She was educated and you could tell she actually cared. Since my dad has been here I can honestly say I never worry. I visit him and he seems happy and hes getting the attention he needs.
