We were so lucky to find Artis! It is absolutely the right place for my mother! The staff at Artis have helped me and my family with a very difficult situation, one that seemed close to impossible to remedy. My mother has Alzheimer's Disease and was determined to continue to live alone in her home. Because Artis is memory care only, the staff has a thorough knowledge of dementia and the building is designed for people with dementia. They were able to provide guidance, assistance, and encouragement to make for a smooth transition. My mother's quality of life has taken an extreme turn in a positive direction. She is in a stimulating environment with a caring staff. She's kept busy with programming activities everyday and has meals with friends and takes walks outside in the garden. Everyone that I've been in contact with at Artis has been kind, patient, knowledgable, available (extremely so!), and will go out of their way to help.

Many positive aspects - a beautiful outdoor courtyard with gorgeous flowers and landscaping including waterfall - so relaxing to sit and listen to the water - a walking path - outstanding communication avenues where concerns can be voiced - all residents are valued as if family - very appetizing and nutritious meals provided - many activity opportunities including special events such as Father's Day which included a bbq for residents and family - with entertainment- needing to place a loved one in a memory care center (or any facility )is such a hard decision and step but having a facility like Artis helps in many ways

We looked at several places before we decided that Artis was the best place to be. I can't say enough about how wonderful this place is and how amazing all the people are there it's hard enough to place someone away from home but they have made everything so much easier. I would give them 10 stars if I could. Special kudos to Debbie L. She is amazing, so kind and caring. I am not sure I would have placed my husband there if it were not for her warm welcoming kindness when I first visited. She is the best first face ARTIS Southhills could have. She is one of the many treasures that work at ARTIS Southhills.

In my profession I visit many people in multiple different assisted living communities. Artis of South Hills is a favorite . The staff is knowledgeable and compassionate . It really seems like a family.The staff there really care about the residents and you will feel it when you walk into the place. All the staff I have met seem wonderful but especially The director of Nursing Beth and Dementia specialist Liz who are so helpful and communicative. I would definitely recommend this facility to anyone.

Thank God for Artis! This place is a perfect fit for my Mom who has dementia. They provide activities during the day to keep the residents busy. Artis has four neighborhoods which makes life more simple and navigable for Mom. She loves her room which we call her apartment. She gets her hair done and nails done right on the premises! The staff is wonderful and caring. Keith and Renee keep my Mom busy with all their fun activities and trips out in the community. The food is very good as well, the chef is amazing, as I eat there often. I highly recommend Artis for a loved one suffering from dementia. Mom is living her best life!

My Mother in law has been at Artis for almost a year and a half now. After visiting several Senior homes we settled on Artis. It is the perfect size for someone with dementia. My MIL is so content and happy now. She loves her room and is involved in all the activities they provide. She has gone to a play downtown, several lunches out, and a museum. It's nice they do day trips now that Covid is gone. The staff are caring and kind and so helpful. It is so nice they celebrate every holiday! Her life is 100x better than when she was alone at her lonely house.

As an occupational therapist, I have been visiting this facility for nearly two years and have enjoyed building relationships with not only the residents, but the staff as well! This facility is a family-like atmosphere. Dan, Valeria, Karen, and Leland are always welcoming once you walk in the front door. Beth, Liz, Deb, and Keith always keep me updated with each resident I see and are incredibly personal and caring. The care team staff are very kind, patient, and always willing to assist me as needed. I always enjoy my visits at Artis, all around AMAZING staff!

I cannot say enough about the care staff, administrators and all those who make Artis the compassionate and caring home for my mom in her struggles with dementia. The facility is clean and well maintained. The caregivers go above and beyond their duties and treat each resident with dignity and respect. The caregivers that stand out to me are Keith, Milton, Lina, Melanie, Judy and Luisa. Keith is a jack of all trades leading sing-a-longs with his musical talents, giving manicures and styling and cutting hair. He also gives the best hugs. My mom has gone back to her native language of Italian and has a difficult time communicating and being understood, but each one of these caregivers and others make it their mission to get her whatever she requires. My husband and I became part of and were welcomed into the Artis community 2 years prior to my mom becoming a resident through the support group. The administrators are very hands on with the residents and family members knowing us by name and making sure we are taken care of as well. I would recommend them highly and give them 5+ stars.

This dementia care home provided exceptional care for my elderly mother with severe dementia and physical decline. I originally had her stay for respite care when I needed a break but then had to place her once her dementia worsened. The environment is welcoming and home-like, each resident has a private suite in a small neighborhood (There are 4 neighborhoods containing 16 suites each) with a comfortable living room and dining area in each neighborhood. There is also a larger community room and craft room for all residents to gather for daily activities that are thoroughly enjoyed by the residents and their family. Family and friends are welcome to visit their family member at any time of the day - also to partake in the daily activities. The meals are exceptional with large portions. And the care is very good with a dedicated nursing staff, also the administrative staff is hands-on with an open door policy for any issues you may want to bring to their attention - always striving to make it a better place for our loved ones. The grounds are park-like and beautiful with covered porches, a patio area and walkways for residents, families and friends to enjoy. Thank you so much Artis of South Hills for the compassionate care you provided to my mother and the support you provided to me when it was needed the most.

I work as a Social Worker for 80 Physicians and I went on a tour a couple years ago and this place is beyond fantastic. The Staff is really caring and checks on the patients every ten minutes. They have wonderful activities for the residents, even cooking. The place is spotless and clean I always refer my patients to Artis Senior Living of South Hills . Mary jo Greene and all the staff are excellent. Please consider Artis for your loved one.... they will be well taken care of.

I cannot say enough about the wonderful people who work at Artis Senior Living of the South Hills. My father has been living at Artis for nearly a year. As a health care professional myself I am in awe of the dedication and untiring amount of time the staff spend with my dad and with our family members when we call to talk about my dad. My dad is meticulosuly cared for and it seems the staff never tire of our requests or his needs. During the past year with the pandemic, this facility has been exemplary in keeping the clients safe and free from COVID-19. The team at Artis has been wonderful throughout my Moms stay! She remains happy, healthy, and content! Moving her into Artis during the early stage of her cognitive decline allowed her to quickly make friends and socialize (much more that she was doing while living in her home). The facility layout was one of the key decision factors in our family selecting Artis. Its single floor allows for walking and going outside when the weather is appropriate and the intimate neighborhood concept with lovely dining and living room amenities. My father has been a resident of Artis for about 2 years. When asked, he indicates that the facility and people are very nice and that the staff is attentive to his needs. Also, he comments that his room is cleaned daily, that his laundry is taken care of and that the meals are good. He occasionally will chuckle and say that the facility is deluxe and top notch. I speak with him daily and he is upbeat about the facility and staff. I do agree with him on all points; I have been very pleased with his care and well-being. My father does participate in the daily activities at the facility and this keeps him busy. I do wish he had more to do in the evening but the staff tries to do their best with him to try and suit his needs. With the current pandemic, Artis has done an exceptional job so far in keeping residents safe. I appreciate the hard work the staff is undertaking and personal sacrifices they are making to keep it that way. Thank you!!

I had to move my mother from an assisted living facility to a memory care unit several months ago. So during the midst of the COVID-19 lock-downs, I moved her to Artis of South Hills. This is one of the best moves I could have made. The staff at Artis and the level of care my mom is receiving is second to none. The folks at Artis are true professionals when it comes to caring for people with memory issues and dementia. They ensure that the residents are engaged in activities and with each other on a routine basis. And the staff goes out of their way to assist family members in maintaining face-to-face contact with their loved ones which is very difficult with the COVID-19 lock-downs. I am truly grateful that my mom is in such a safe and caring environment.

This place is the best for memory care. My mom stayed for 3 months for respite care (was only going to have her stay for 2 weeks, she was so well taken care of, I extended her stay). She will definitely be back. The residence is nicely furnished, very clean, has an outdoor courtyard, nice dining and great enrichment activities. Placing my father in a dementia care facility was something I prayed I would never have to do. Although dementia has robbed him of so much, we still see him as the greatest father in the world. After visiting quite a few facilities, we chose Artis. It is bright and clean. The staff are friendly, caring and understand how to care for dementia patients. Although it is a secure facility, it doesnt have a locked in feel. My father has been at Artis for two months now. I cannot begin to express my gratitude to the entire staff. They treat my dad like family. They call him by name. They genuinely care about him. He is clean. His room is clean. He participates in activities like exercise class, bingo, noodle ball, movies and more. He is happy and comfortable. No, it isnt home. But I feel that it is as close to home as it can possibly be. I know he is safe. I know he is cared for. I know he will not wander away. Thank you to every single member of the Artis staff.

No place even compares! My dad came in December 2018. I waited to write a review so I could see multiple areas that concerned me when looking for a place. I didnt want to leave him. I wanted him to have fun on New Years and they had a party and I got to see this picture of him with a friend. My heart is happy because he is safe. It has a homey feel with the neighborhoods and residents are free to go anywhere. Dad has friends in each neighborhood now. He may not remember where they are all the time but the staff helps and they have multiple activities daily where they can reunite. Laughing or just sitting stone face with someone you know is next to you makes it great. If nobody was in the mood(or awake), I walked in to see the guy on staff sitting and talking with him about his farm when he was young. The food is great and they will work with you with anything. Dad woke up and was walking around at 2am and wanted ice cream and he went into his kitchen and they helped him and when done walked him back and told him it was bedtime and he went back to sleep. I wanted personal treatment and that person COULD have said no but instead they take the time. Chef glen keeps him stocked w Diet Coke, snacks, whatever it is truly amazing. If they need medication, the staff goes and finds the resident they dont all lineup and if they are eating out in a different neighborhood they take it over to them. If we as a family take dad to a restaurant then they give it to him right when I sign him back into his neighborhood. It is ALWAYS clean - being that it is a new facility they have it all nice. I was curious to see how they would handle a staff change and if dad asked about a person no longer there the guy replied oh shes off today and that was that! Dad forgot to ask the next day. Be aware though - this facility does what it says- they do all of the creative aspects, the care aspects, the monitoring :they check on them every hour to make sure they are safe in their location (whenever they are at the time since they all wander around) and they only make note they were fine not what they were doing so if you want to know that you have to ask questions- does he sleep through the night, does he spend time with x, did he participate in the activity today(but you could ask the activity peeps), etc. the laundry etc it is ALL WONDERFUL!! They know he likes to garden and even have made a club gardening with Ralph they really play to their strengths! They also do not transfer people... if your loved one needs people to help lift them from a wheelchair to a toilet for example or into a bed then that is beyond what they offer. It doesnt effect us but thought it was worth mentioning. Feel free to contact me and ask me a question it is AMAZING compared to any other I have seen or experienced. Becky Robert (Ralphs daughter)

Artis Senior Living of South Hills is a beautiful residence where my mom who has Alzheimers not only lives, but thrives! She is happier than Ive seen her in years! She spends some of her days on the lovely patio and yard and strolling around the property with her new friends. I no longer have to worry whether shes eating, taking her medications or lonely. The staff is incredible … so caring and knowledgeable … the food is delicious, the socialization with other residents and the staff is wonderful, Moms room is very comfortable and personalized (and she likes it), the community areas are warm, bright and welcoming. When I visit with her now its heartwarming and not stressful. The staff not only cares about my mom … they care about us, her family. They educate us on Alzheimers and someone is always there to listen or lend a hand. I seriously dont have enough nice things to say about Artis Senior Living of South Hills! 5 stars
