I recently asked for a tour at Bear Creek and I was greeted by a woman named Dawn and I couldn't have been more impressed by the folks at the Bear Creek Morning Star. From the moment I walked in to the building I felt welcomed and more importantly my loved one was greeted and treated as someone who belonged. I can honestly say that I've never felt that way before and based on the way we were treated to a complimentary my meal, and just the people that work there this morning I decided that I will be leaning towards moving my husband there. I've struggled deeply with the decision I will eventually have to make regarding him, and I've done a lot of research regarding this decision. I will be able to visit him, and even if I don't grab a cup of coffee before I know that Cara and a young lady named Olivia wil offer that to me. The hospitality is second to none and I highly recommend anyone going through what I am going through to give this place a look. It feels like a place I can trust and it's a place I feel like I can come see my husband anytime and be loved while I'm there. Miekka and the team are excellent and wholesome, this is definitely the place to recommend!

May I ask why is it so difficult to get the contact information for our corporate office? I've requested the corporate number multiple occasions and have been given the run around. I would like to have the number to our corporate office please and thank you!

I was looking for a place to care for my aging mom .She had a long list of medical issues, and I needed a place that I felt comfortable leaving her out of my care. My dad and I didn't have an appointment but were greeted warmly and absolutely impressed with the beautiful facility and excellent staff. Dawn brought us in and carefully listened to our needs and wishes for my mom, gave us information and a tour without a hard sales pitch. Wellness director Terry came out to meet my mom and find out if the facility would be a good fit for her. He was so caring and compassionate, and let me know they could accommodate her. Unfortunately, before we could make the arrangements, she passed away. Based on the caring interactions that we had, I would 100% place a family member here.

My family and I visited several memory care facilities in the area and MorningStar at Bear Creek was by far the best. The entire executive team was very welcoming and spent time informing us of all the community had to offer without a high pressure sales approach. We have been impressed with all the staff -- from the front desk staff to the care staff to the kitchen staff as well as the entire management team. Additionally, we like the fact that MorningStar at Bear Creek is focused only on caring for individuals with dementia issues. There were a few issues at the beginning as we got to know the MorningStar team and they got to know us. However, those issues were not major and were worked out in the first few weeks.

My father has been at Bear Creek for 5 months and has adjusted well. I am very thankful that the staff all know my father's name and greet him when they see him. Whenever I stop by (and I do stop by at various times of the day and week), someone will quickly let me know where he is within the facility. The staff and programs strike a lovely balance between offering activities and letting him have autonomy in making his own decisions based on preferences (per decisions that wouldn't compromise his safety). My sister has been able to stay in a respite room when she visits him from out of state, and has been pleased throughout the day/night of his care and for the concern and attention of all the staff.

We moved my mother from another MC facility to Morningstar last fall. She had her ups and downs and throughout the journey, Morningstar was working with us every step of the way. They communicated with me about different changes in my mom. The staff was wonderful, would get to know my mom and call me by my name. My brothers would call to check on her and they always were willing to find my mom and get her to the phone. Unfortunately, mom fell and shortly thereafter entered hospice. The care that we received for her as well as the family during her final days was wonderful. The kitchen would drop off food, the caregivers would stop by and check to see if we needed anything, just to talk or sit and listen. Mom loved the food and the people at Morningstar. We are so thankful that we moved her to Morningstar.

My experience for my loved one at MorningStar has been excellent. In the 16 months we have been involved with MorningStar there has been a transition of leadership that was navigated smoothly. I visit my loved one most days. This facility is peaceful and my loved one is seen, heard and cared for lovingly and respectfully and giving my loved one dignity. My concerns are heard and addressed. I am thankful!
May 2023
My loved one has had a few incidences that needed immediate responses and each one was taken care of right away. The staff has gone out of their way to help her transition from her home to MS as comfortable and easy as possible. I have nothing but praise for MS and its staff.

My husband was placed here over a year ago. He has Familial Early Onset Alzheimer's. He was still highly functional and needed a place he couldn't escape from. He received great care and I have no complaints about that to this day. I am pleased that they have recently started regular activities for the resident that he enjoys. The problems I have had there have been the result of staffing changes. That seems to have been corrected. The one thing I am not so sure about is why his furniture is not regularly dusted. It is a relief that that is the only thing I have to complain about. My husband is well cared for, safe, follows a schedule and seems as happy as he could be. I am grateful that it is a pleasant, clean, positive environment for us.

MorningStar Care at Bear Creek (MBC) exceeds expectations on a daily basis. My sister has Parkinson's disease and the medication regimen is incredibly demanding, but MBC has achieved it precisely from day 1, which makes an enormous difference in her experience of life. Beyond that the caregivers are so caring, which we haven't experienced consistently in other locations. And the management staff are fun and so on top of everything. Best of all, they all seem to like each other and have fun, which makes a wonderful environment. Finally, I have to mention Miekka, the executive director. She's such a light and her leadership and care create a marvelous culture at MBC. Be sure to read her book, "Being with Dementia."

Everything here meets my standards! people, food, and level of care. The staff were extra helpful!
February 2023
This facility is by far the worst facility- I have ever walked into. The Morningstar staff do not care for their residents as they should. They do not follow Covid-19 protocols and I wouldn’t be surprised if residents with Covid-19 are mingling with those that do not have Covid-19 which will pose a health concern for your loved ones. There will be residents left sitting in their urine and poop for hours before they get changed. The residents don’t smell like they are getting showers regularly as well. They have very few staff actually working to care for the residents when they’re spending time on their phones in the hallways. Seems like the agency staff care more for the residents than their own staff. Do not be fooled into spending thousands of dollars for your loved one to be mistreated and left to fend for themselves. You are better off finding better care elsewhere.

After an exhausting search in Southern Colorado, we found Morningstar and it seems to be the perfect place for my mother. Always clean, bright and upbeat with lots of activity. Staff is outstanding and very responsive to any and all questions and concerns.

My mother has been at MorningStar at Bear Creek for four months. During that time, she has needed increasing amounts of assistance from the staff. They have adjusted to her needs patiently and compassionately, and have remained positive and loving toward her, even when her illness has made caring for her more difficult. She is always well taken care of, her laundry is done, her room is clean, and staff members are willing to go above and beyond if there is something else she needs. When a family member isn't able to be with Mom for a few days, MorningStar is very good at keeping us informed about what is going on with her. It is a great comfort to know that she is being cared for so well by a truly wonderful group of people.

My mother-in-law needed memory care. Our family reviewed several facilities that provided memory care and we unanimously agreed that MorningStar at Bear Creek was the best available. The facility itself is well-planned, well-staffed, and beautifully appointed. Whenever we drop by for a visit, Mom's room has been cleaned, laundry picked up, etc. She doesn't do well at remembering to eat and staff members consistently seek her out to remind her of meal times and of special activities that she may enjoy. It was hard placing her in a memory care facility, but knowing that she is in a caring and nurturing environment helps the family cope with the situation.

This facility is incredible! The staff are very accommodating and provide a very safe, clean, and beautiful environment. They are attentive and really look after my family members needs. We made the right choice coming here! Management here is also first class! They are very approachable and address any questions and concerns promptly.

It was the toughest decision my family had to make placing my parents in memory care and trying to keep them together. We started out with our parents at Skyline and that was a month of a nightmare. After leaving Skyline in tears, I noticed Morningstar and pulled in for a tour. They were very obliging and welcoming and gave me a tour immediately. Many of the residents were gathered with a resident playing the fiddle. They gave me a tour and showed me rooms that would be available for my parents to share. I left there feeling this was the best place for my parents, and we could keep them together in a larger than usual one-bedroom suite. Sadly my father recently passed after only being there for a few months. But the staff have been wonderful helping my mom adjust and supporting our family. They are always willing to follow through with our requests in helping my mom. This is a difficult decision but Morningstar has absolutely made it a lot more comforting for my siblings and I. The staff and the caregivers are always on task. And they truly Express and show how much care they have for my mom and my family.

I recently had to move my husband from AL to memory care. He was in AL at a facility 3 miles from our home, and now is 22 miles from home. The facility he was in did have a memory care, but I would not put him in their MC. It was hard at first for my husband to make this switch, but the staff has been kind and taking him for walks whenever possible, which is his favorite activity. The director at Morningstar, Terry Lamantia, has been very approachable. I have even called him at home on more than one occasion. I cannot recall once, where i saw the Director of the facility my husband left, outside of the office. Terry is often out with the residents. He knows all of them very well. Terry goes beyond the call of duty, even returning to the facility the night my husband moved in to set up his tv. TV is very important to my husband and that act of kindness was very much appreciated. My husband, who is normally exceptionally physically healthy, had to ho to the ER via ambulance. I appreciate the care he received at the facility before being transported. They have a new activities director, which is wonderful, as my husband loves the activities. I am certain that will only get better over time. The facility has a lovely setting. Six courtyards, outdoor paths, beautiful view through the wrought iron fence of the front range. Residents have numerous doors they can go out, and be in the secured area. The view out my husband's window is more like a backyard than a facility. My husband is happy and content, which of course makes life easier for me.

Christmas dinner was wonderful with my mother-in-law, and the staff was wonderful, as they always are!! Recommend this facility for care of anyone needing memory care for a loved one.

October 2021
No facility is perfect -- especially in these trying times -- but Morningstar's executive director, Terry, is a truly kind and caring man. When my father developed COVID, Terry immediately implemented a compassionate care exception to the standard isolation protocol so my mother and I were able to visit him regularly. Terry showed genuine personal concern for us throughout the difficult experience of my father's dying, and in the immediate aftermath. The institution works generally well with Bristol Hospice and Brookdale Home Health Care, which attended my father. They also made a fuss over what turned out to be his last birthday, with his favorite German chocolate cake and a movie, and I know my father enjoyed some of the activities and entertainment routinely provided, including music and a visit (with some critters) from Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. And Gary, in charge of maintenance, was always there to help with practical matters large and small, from move in to move out. "Happy" is a relative concept for people who wind up in these residences, but my father was certainly happier here, and more engaged, than at a previous, larger facility, and Morningstar was a much more aesthetically pleasing place to visit. It's a good choice for people who can no longer care for loved ones due to progressive mental and physical decline.
