This place is so great to deal with, they care more than any other place I’ve done business with!

My husband was at Avista for a bit over a year and as he was diminished by his disease his love for the staff only grew. His face would light up when certain staff members would enter the room or walk past him. He knew that they truly cared for him. He loved the time he spent in the beautiful yard helping to water and trim a bit. I can’t imagine that there is a lovelier yard in any memory care residence in Albuquerque. Field trips, musical entertainment, arts and crafts, ice cream socials and baking activities were all part of their activities. Outdoor cookouts in the wonderful yard occurred on several holidays. If a loved one is not able to stay in their home any longer Avista is a caring, loving residence for them to be a part of.

This is a great facility. The staff Are great with the residents and meet them where they are at in their lives. They are always having little activities with them to keep them engaged such as painting, their nails are doing arts and crafts with them. You can really tell they care which is wonderful

As a healthcare professional I call on several assisted living facilities. Avista is without a doubt the best of the bunch. I have had on two occasions my patients improve while in their care, which is unusual for hospice patients. The dedication of the staff to total care of their residents is exceptional and makes working with them a joy in my day. It is also a facility focused on cleanliness and infection control. They actively monitor the residents and ensure a safe, caring living environment.

The caregivers at Avista Senior Living Albuquerque are the best. I trust them completely with my husband who has Primary Progressive Dementia. When he first went there, he was like a walking zombie. After just a couple months, he came back to life. They have so many activities for the residents to participate in everyday. When there is any concerns, like health, injuries or behavior issues, they let me know right away. The meals are prepared in a regular kitchen, not frozen, prepackaged or microwave ready. The staff takes the residents on various outings. Celebrate birthdays every month. My husband loves to be outdoors and they have a beautiful, safe and secure courtyard he gets to enjoy. The building is clean inside and out, no awful odors. Ron can be pretty stubborn at times, and Ray is able to keep him under control at those times and redirect his attention when needed. Watching the staff, caregivers interacting with the residents gives me confidence in knowing I made the best decision in choosing Avista for Ron's care.

There are some staff that are very dedicated to what they do. They have taken very good care of my wife in the last year. Many work double shifts but always treat her with dignity, kindness and respect. I couldn't have found a better place for my wife.

Our family member spent the last eight months of his life at Avista, and we couldn’t have asked for a better place. The staff was incredibly compassionate, attentive, and communicative about his needs. The doctors and nursing staff were responsive and truly cared for him as an individual, not just a patient. The facility itself is clean, bright, and welcoming, with plenty of windows, a beautiful garden, and a variety of activities to keep residents engaged. Most importantly, the level of care and compassion shown to both our loved one and our family was exceptional. Before Avista, he was at the Watermark, and that experience was terrible”don’t be fooled by the fancy appearance. Avista, on the other hand, is a genuinely caring place, especially for dementia patients. We are deeply grateful for everything they did for our family member, and we highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality dementia care.

Our father spent his last two and a half years at Avista, and we feel so lucky to have found that place for him. Two things about Avista stand out. The physical setting is dominated by large airy common areas where residents can find ample room to explore and socialize. The expansive outdoor courtyard was loved by our father and provided a great place for visits. Secondly, the staff at Avista were fantastic, energetic, loving, and respectful. Many of them became good friends for our father, who was happier at Avista than he had been at home. The front office was also very supportive and stepped up to solve many logistical challenges, making our lives much easier. Given the circumstances, we could not have asked for a better experience.

This facility felt amazingly vibrant and alive!! I Believe this to be true due to the activities that keep these residents smiling happy and profoundly engaged throughout the entire day!! Joe Ocana was just the best tour guide and was always interacting with all residents. Every single one of them would greet him with either a smile or hug wondering what the next activity was going to be and when... He has done a spectacular job of being quite creative in keeping these people engaged and asking for more. There was never a dull moment while I visited this facility and would recommend it to anyone seeking a facility dedicated towards Alzheimers and Dementia Care.for thier loved ones! They will be happy and stay both mentally and physically active with Mr Ocana in charge of the activities department, I can vouch for that!

My mother has resided at Avista Senior Living Albuquerque for 11 years now. I am very happy with the facility and even more so the staff. My mother is very well taken care of and I have zero worries about her care or needs at Avista. I've often visited on varying days of the week and at varying times and the level of care is always very good. They have many core staff members that have been there for the entire time (and longer) that my mother has been in their care. The current Executive Director has been in her current position longer than any other ED at this facility and has all of the staff and residents concerns at heart. The consistency, the cleanliness, the care, the food are all at the highest benchmarks in the industry. They also engage the residents in many activities from group exercises to arts and crafts to singalongs. I could not recommend Avista more highly and know that anyone's loved one would be very well cared for at this facility.

To the staff at Avista Senior Living Center and Memory Care of Albuquerque: We just want to express our sincere gratitude for the kind and compassionate care that you provided for our dad recently in our time of need. EVERYONE at your senior care center is exceptionally caring and kind. Our first day there, Olivia Romero, was so nice when she asked about our father, to find out more about him. We met Ray Arellano, who was so helpful and friendly when he set up the room for our dad. Ray was so down to earth when he spoke to my husband, John, and he always greeted us when we were visiting our dad. We felt welcomed right from the start and noticed a big welcome note in our dad's room signed by people at Avista. Joe Ocana created a beautiful shadow box that hung outside our dad's room that showcased our dad's interests and personality. Joe was always positive, patient and kind to our dad and all of us. He took time to talk to our dad and got him out of his room so he could socialize with other people. Tori Lynn Moore was always so friendly, kind, and caring when we visited our dad and we just love her. We saw her a lot. We remember when she brought out a yummy dessert that was made by your wonderful kitchen staff. I tasted it and it was delicious. We were trying to stimulate dad's appetite because at that time, dad wasn't eating very much. We were also told that Jordyn Ackerman ordered some New Mexican food for dad in an attempt to get him excited about eating. Thank you so very much for caring about our dad. We also wanted to mention Shantel, who is one of the numerous care givers that took care of our dad on the weekends. We saw her a lot too. She showed us so much compassion, kindness and understanding. She gave me a hug when I needed it. We will always remember her kindness. Jordyn, Nellie and Samantha were also some of the amazing, kind, and caring nurses and caregivers that we encountered while dad was living at your center. We just wanted to say a big thank you for all of you...we don't even know all of your names, especially those behind the scenes, but we are so grateful and appreciative of your amazing and exceptional staff. Our father did pass away, but we just wanted you all to know how much we appreciate all of you; and every small gesture of kindness means a lot. Sincerely, Kristan, Kathy and Yenenesh Montano, John Barnett and Steven Covington

The care and compassion you provided to our dear friends was beautiful and very special. All of the staff members seem to care deeply for the residents and wanted to provide the most appropriate care possible for their individual needs.Your facility seems to be designed much like a home. People may choose to interact with others or be able to find places where they may be alone when they need it. We always felt welcome as guests.

A dear friend lived at Avista Senior Living for eight months before she passed away. The staff was very attentive, respectful, gentle, caring and accommodating. We got to know several residents over eight months time and they all appeared to be happy. The facilities were neat and well maintained. There is a large, pleasant common area with couches, tables and a large screen television. Management schedules activities to help pass the time for residents. There is a very attractive, secure grassy outdoor patio with benches, a picnic table and covered Gazebo where residents and guests can go without restrictions. I highly recommend this facility.

My mom has only been here a couple of days, but I have to say this place is amazing. The staff is so friendly. Joe, the activities coordinator is incredible with the residents. I was so worried my mom would have a difficult time with her transitioning, but they have made it so good for her. Thank you Olivia and everyone

Our loved one has been at Avista for closing in on 2 years. This was our 4th home to try and so glad we landed here as the Director, Olivia, and the staff really care about their residents. Great nutritional food, activities and wonderful set up for great freedom for their residents.
September 2022
I had a tour of Avista memory care today and it was a wonderful surprise. The executive director herself made time to show me around the community which made me feel like my questions are important. As I toured it felt very much like a home. The furnishings looked comfortable and inviting, it smelled good (no foul odours) and the residents were well dressed, groomed and clean. My tour was during lunchtime and I observe the caregivers serving the meal and engaging with the residents. I had the pleasure of meeting their maintenance director and when I asked him about his favourite resident his response was that they all arebut then he went on to talk about a gentleman who is very special to him. The maintenance director definitely cares. As I walked through the staff made eye contact smiled and some made it a point to say hello. It was such a good experience. Thank you Olivia Romero and your TEAM for the welcoming experience!

Although my husband’s mother lived at Avista only a short time, we would highly recommend the staff and this facility. We were first given a tour of the facility (through Zoom) and Olivia (marketing) was thorough in addressing our initial concerns. This was important because we live out-of-state, so we couldn’t visit the facility first. Olivia was always available to address our concerns and help us through the intake process. When Mom arrived, she quickly acclimated into the facility and seemed to enjoy the activities. We were given 24/7 access to the nursing staff so we could check on how things were going. Later, when we did visit the facility, we found everyone to be warm and welcoming, ready to answer questions. Sadly, within 10 days, Mom was entered into hospice care, which was administered at Avista. The hospice nurse also commented that Mom was being treated well, being turned frequently to prevent pressure sores, and kept clean, etc. until her passing. Our time with Avista only encompassed a three-week period, but during this time, we felt that Mom received compassionate care and that she would have had a happy home at Avista had circumstances turned out differently.

I moved my Father to Brookdale Juan Tabo Place December 2018 from a town south of Albuquerque. The staff members have been very supportive and helpful during our transition period. The smaller community size has been perfect since my Father lived alone prior to his move. He enjoys the food, hasn’t missed a meal yet. The staff care for each resident is amazing, they always have a cheerful demeanor as they attend to residents needs. The Management team has always made time to answer my questions and welcomed my calls even after work hours. It always warms my heart when I go into visit during an activity- the staff leader engages all the residents and to see smiles and laughter on their faces is priceless. The family members I have met are wonderful to talk with taking interest in getting to know my Father and I. I am so thankful for Brookdale Juan Tabo Place for caring for Dementia and Alzheimer’s residents in an assisted living environment.

My mother-in-law, who recently passed away, was at the Cottages for several months, having moved from another nursing facility where she was not receiving appropriate treatment. The care she received at Emeritus was exceptional: a caring, well-trained, compassionate staff with seemingly unlimited patience, was devoted to her and the other patients. The atmosphere is more like a dormitory than a hospital, patients and staff eat together in a pleasant dining room, and lovely gardens provide a chance for patients and their guests to get out in the fresh air and enjoy the flowers, the sky, and the mountain views. Also, my father-in-law was there just about every day for 5 or 6 hours, and the staff treated him with respect and kindness, offering him meals to eat along with his wife. I couldn't recommend it more highly.
