My husband was in the last stages of life, and we chose to have him transported from a skilled nursing facility to beautiful Brookdale Highlands Ranch. We thought he still had days left; he did not. The tender, reverent, and loving care he, and my daughters and I, received over the next few hours was something my family will never, ever forget. You filled our hearts at this saddest of times; thank you dear friends.

Moving my mom to Brookdale Highlands Ranch was a big decision for our family, and we couldn’t be happier with the care she has received. The staff have been incredibly kind, attentive, and welcoming from day one. They genuinely care about the residents and treat my mom with warmth, dignity, and respect. It’s been wonderful to see her become involved in activities, make new friends, and feel part of a community. Every time I visit, she seems happy and well cared for, which gives me tremendous peace of mind. The community is clean, comfortable, and has a positive atmosphere that makes it feel like home. Brookdale Highlands Ranch and their staff have been outstanding. The relationship we have built as a hospice partner has allowed us to closely work together with their team. They show their care for their residents and attention to their needs in what they do every day. Exceptional in every way. The staff at Brookdale Highlands Ranch treated my mom with respect, kindness and patience, making her feel welcome in her new home. And when she passed they treated my sister and I with such compassion and grace that I will forever be grateful. Moving a loved one to memory care can be hard on a family and they tried in every way to help my mom and us with the transition. They were there with experienced answers and real solutions for us. Dee and Becky were fantastic with the entry interviews and tours Laughing with mom like they were old friends. Fatima instantly put my family at ease and treated mom with respect and love. The staff is always available, active and friendly and helpful anytime I have asked for something. They know my family and the staff is engaged with the residents and know them well. They have lots of activities and my mom is well taken care of at the Brookedale location.

I had to make a rapid change to my mom’s living situation, bringing her from another state. The staff, the director and the health and wellness coordinator have been attentive and helpful every step of the way for both my family and my mom. Thankfully, all are gaining stability.

My wife has been at Brookdale Highlands Ranch for over a year and a half. I have always felt comfortable in her quality and quantity of care, nutrition and activities. Any response to a question is promptly and completely answered. Before Covid I was able to eat lunch or dinner with my wife, participate in her exercise group, and interact with the staff. The programming of activities has been exceptional engaging everyone at their level of participation. When I make a Skype call I always notice her hair is clean and she is wearing clean clothes. The leadership team, lead by Penny, has residents as their priority. Now that in person visits are allowed, my family and I are so excited to see her and the caregivers who have taken care of her for this past year.

My experience with Brookdale Highland Ranch has been wonderful so far. My mother has been there for almost 2 months now and she is very happy. She loves the staff, the food and the facility. She really enjoys the activities and the walking club. But mostly I would say she appreciates the care she is provided but the staff. She comments to me often how wonderful the people are here at Brookdale HR. I find the weekly Zoom meeting with Penny and her staff to be excellent. We get to see what activities our love ones have experienced and includes pictures of everyone. I don’t understand the negative reviews, I have not experienced anything like that at Brookdale. In fact I feel like they are part of my family now.

****UPDATED REVIEW**** My client has been here for more than a year now; he started out in the Crossing Program for those whose dementia keeps them from living on their own, but is not a hindrance to others. He had a fall, mostly likely due to a small stroke, and is now in the regular dementia care, so I have seen both sides of it now. We absolutely loved he received over in Crossings.. Both the staff and other residents over there were great...especially Caroline and Fatima. It was like independent living, except the doors were locked. I told him the locks were .to keep him safe, and he seemed OK with that. We took bus rides and went on outings every week. It was fabulous. Now that he's in the regular dementia care, things are a bit different. He still gets great care, but there was a lot of turnover prior to COVID. Some of which I was very glad about. One day I noticed a large skin tear on his arm which was warm and inflamed so I called the nurse's attention to it. She very callously, without even looking at him, said 'it's fine.' I'm glad she was one of the changes in staff that was made. I don't know how it has been since COVID as I have not been able to spend time with him inside. Although on the two outdoor visits I've had with him, he has had very sweet caregivers with him. Sadly, my first outdoor visit with him, he did not recognize me, but I'm hoping the Governor will open things up, and I can start caring for him again. PREVIOUS REVIEW We just moved a client here from the same facility I was raving about in this review for being so great; they've gone way downhill. There, I actually found a custodian taking a snooze in my client's bed (the female janitor was on something and got fired). It's only been a few weeks, but so far so good. We're on the Crossings side, which is more like assisted living. The staff is super friendly, and gets my gentleman friend involved in all of their activities. He's happier than ever, and when I asked him why...he told me it's 'where I live.' ORIGINAL REVIEW I have been a Caregiver for those afflicted Alzheimer's and Dementia for a number of years now, I have seen many memory care facilities throughout the city; my experience with this Brookdale facility was worse than awful. I had a client there several years ago, and I have never been so disgusted by what I saw, experienced, or felt. Maybe things are different now, but back then, it was really bad. What I saw: the residents at that time, were not supervised by staff when I was there, and were literally banging their walkers into each other. As they got more and more agitated, I chose to step in since no one else was around to. The residents were up wandering around at all hours of the night, and seemed to be free to go in each other's rooms; I, myself, witnessed other Brookdale inhabitants in my client's room. Some of her personal items turned up missing, and management couldn't account for either the missing items or intrusions; despite repeated requests, they did nothing about either. What I experienced: 99% of the time when I arrived, the residents were pounding on the locked door and shouting "get me out;" when I opened the door, they would rush me and try to leave. I I would do my best to stop them, but couldn't alone control disorderly dementia invalids who nearly bowled me over as I tried to get to my client. Once again, there was no staff in sight. What I felt: my stomach was in knots and I was constantly worried about my client...about her safety, health and welfare. We chose to move her to a different facility where she thrived. Interestingly enough, a staff member from Brookdale predicted that my client would get "kicked out" of any establishment for her behaviors. Instead, she did better than ever. It goes to show that positive attitudes, patience, understanding and staff members who are there can change anything

When you enter Brookdale you are greeted by Ginger who is always helpful and very compassionate with the residents. The staff is friendly and professional. The facility has a warm welcoming feel and is very clean. We enjoy our visits with our loved one and feel at home.
