Reviews Mercy House New Braunfels
July 2026
It was incredibly tough and heart-wrenching to come to terms with the reality that my dad could no longer stay in the home that he built with his own two hands. However, given his health and overall situation, we truly feel he is in the right place”and that gives us comfort. From the very beginning, working with the Mercy House team has been such a positive experience. The team is not only professional, but also exceptionally kind, patient, and compassionate, especially with my dad. We also deeply appreciate the team’s transparency. They are proactive in communicating with us and have been incredibly supportive. One of the things I love most about my dad being at Mercy House is that whenever I drop in to visit, he isn’t sitting alone in his room; instead, he’s out engaging with other residents and members of the amazing care team! He’s interacting and that’s what we wanted. Thank you to the amazing Mercy House team for everything you do. Your kindness, dedication, and care mean more to me than words can express. You truly are angels!

My grandmother was a resident at this facility, and the staff was truly amazing. They treated her with dignity and compassion, always responding quickly to any concerns we had and going above and beyond to ensure she was comfortable and well cared for. The only thing I would note is that if you are not specifically looking for memory care, this may not be the best fit, as there aren’t many activities to keep residents occupied. That said, the quality of the staff and the level of care provided are hard to beat

Mercy House Assisted Living has been such a caring and welcoming place. The staff is compassionate, attentive, and truly treats residents like family. The environment is clean, comfortable, and full of warmth. It’s reassuring to know loved ones are in good hands here. Highly recommend!

I do not recommend this facility. We raised documented safety and supervision concerns on 01/08/2026 that were not adequately addressed. The front gate has been broken for months, wheelchair access is difficult, and exterior areas had debris and safety hazards. Cameras are not monitored, some do not work, and evening/overnight shifts are not overseen. Despite being told residents are checked every two hours, our family-installed camera showed our father placed in bed mid-afternoon on 01/11/2026 and left there for hours. We also documented him awake most of the night, yet staff were unaware. On 01/12/2026, we requested a room change after repeated aggression from his roommate and provided video evidence. Due to ongoing safety concerns, we moved him. The cost does not reflect the quality or oversight provided.

Howdy. The Mercy House at 550 Rock St in New Braunfels Tx is the best place for memory care. My kids and I searched everywhere in the area (San Antonio, Seguin and New Braunfels). This was the best in terms of caring, food and entertainment. They have functions every day. I highly recommend Mercy House.

We had to move mom from California from a memory care facility and the transition for mom has been amazing. The facility and caregivers are very compassionate and the hospice service they have provided have given us reassurance that we made the right decision to choose Mercy House here in New Braunfels. Jenna has been so supportive during this whole process and has made it so seamless in getting her here close to my husband and I. I would highly recommend Mercy House to any loved one who needs to find a compassionate place for their family member. Five stars!
July 2025
Jenna and her staff are absolutely phenomenal! Short of doing God’s work, it is clear that they genuinely love what they do and truly love & care for their residents! Although I do not work at Mercy House, nor have any friends/family that reside there, today I took my two horses in for a visit. While there, I got to observe how engaged their residents were. Jenna and her staff/nurses were totally in tune with each person who chose to participate. They were able to bring residents out of their shells and encouraged them to participate by pinpointing strengths and likes/dislikes. No one was forced to participate, but by the end of the visit, the majority of residents were thoroughly engaged and it just melted my heart. It was so touching to see them light upand I just felt like they were all one big family. If you’re ever in the position to seek a place out such as Mercy House, put them at the top of your list. I’m certain you won’t go looking elsewhere. These guys and gals are top notch and we’re looking forward to visiting again! Thank you, Jenna, and thank you Mercy House staff and residents, for having us!!

Moving my husband from a fancy facility in New Braunfels to the comfort and care homelike environment was the best decision my sons and I made for him. We only regret not having done it sooner. All of his caregivers were passionate about their residents. An example of this was one of the young ladies told me their rule was to treat each person as if he/she were his/her grandparent and that rule was not to be broken! Mercy House is a first class facility from Cheston and Laura to their entire staff. My husband’s stay was short lived but I always knew he was cared for. Many thanks to an outstanding group of dedicated people.
August 2023
This place is amazing! Jenna and Chestin are the most kind and generous people! They helped walk me through everything I needed to do to get my dad in their care. The staff is amazing, and they have the biggest, kindest hearts. My dad is happy, safe, and so very well taken care of. My favorite part is that they let me come visit as often as I want and stay as long as I want. They allow my kids to be kids, so my dad can fully enjoy his grandkids. You cannot find a better place!
April 2023
As you drive from gruene to the property, it’s beautiful ! There are horses next door, huge outdoor patio that connects the two homes. Old rocking chairs on the patio, the fence line is next to a wedding venue and the deer come up at night! Inside it’s like a home away from home. The residents are happy and staff is phenomenal. Chestin and his staff make your lives one feel at home. After you experience this home you don’t need any where else !
April 2022
My husband has been at Sodalis/Mercy House for over a year now and I can't say enough good rhings about the compassion and competence of the lovely staff. He began as a participant in adult day care and often when I brought him back to our house after a day there, he'd say, "I don't want to be here, I want ro go home!" (Meaning back to the facility) So when the time came this January to place him permanently, it was an easier than normal transition. This is, indeed, a homelike environment. Others look so intimidating, like a giant complex or hotel, and if you're dealing with memory loss, that's an added complication. At Mercy House, it's like an actual home with adult children taking care of parents or grandparents in an intimate, personal setting. The Aides are always asking the residents if they're comfortable, want a glass of water or a snack, or if they're cold or need the bathroom...just the kind of attention you'd give at home. And it smells good! Never a smell of stale urine or other unpleasant odors. Oh yes, and there's Honey, the facility dog, who knows how and when to offer comfort and the bird feeder in the lovely little enclosed yard where residents can stroll or sit on the covered porches and enjoy the breeze and each other's company under the big shade trees. Yes Sodalis sold this facility to Mercy House. But the new management is amazing in their level of commitment to residents and their families and any ideas you have about possibly improving your loved one's experience are met with full support - and ACTION! Sometimes I go in and find little improvements I'd meant to get around to (like a wreath on his door or the bird feeder outside his window) only to find it done! - probably by Jamie, the Activities Director, who's always adding nice touches, or Chestin. the Executive Director, whose answer is always "Of course you can do/try that!" He supports anything that adds to the resident's comfort and the family's concerns as long as it doesn't violate regulations. In fact, he offers to help! As my husband has deteriorated from walking, talking and socializing to bed and wheelchair bound with minimal ability to communicate, their care and personal concern for him have accelerated with his needs. But others have different needs, and during my year of frequent visits, I've seen these Aides deal with situations involving aggression, "dementia frenzy" and distress of various sorts and always they have calmed the resident or deflected them successfully so the undesirable behavior doesn't escalate. I've had personal experience with memory care facilities with great reputations in other states but they don't measure up to Mercy House. I can't believe our good fortune to have found this little gem right in our back yard.
