Shell Harbor is truly a place like no other! The location is gorgeous and always decorated to the nines! There are always so many events and activities going on that there is never a dull day here. There are even therapists, services, doctors, & a pharmacy that come on site to help provide a stress free life! Everyone really goes above and beyond to ensure the residents are living their best retirements possible.

Shell harbor retirement community is a wonderful community. Shell harbor celebrates and decorates for every holiday. Easter was there when I visited and I can say whoever does the decorating does a wonderful job. Staff are very nice and need for filling. Very cleaned and neat community

This is by far one of the nicest places I have had the pleasure of visiting all while seeing a client of mine who currently lives here. To be honest, i felt like i was walking into a nice hotel. The staff are always so kind and make you feel welcomed. The apartments are so nice and there is always some sort of entertainment.

Before I give you the reasons I like Shell Harbor I would enjoy sharing with the sports fans among us, especially the football fans, a story about one particular player that many of you will recognize, Tim Tebow. In the 2009 BCS National Championship game between the Florida Gators and Oklahoma, Tim, the quarterback for FL wrote "John 3:16" in the eye blacks beneath his eyes for the game, a practice that was later banned by the NCAA in 2010, imagine that. More than 90 million people goggled that verse that night, most goggled question ever, ever, amazing! Exactly three years after, he inadvertently did it again during his first NFL playoff game with the Denver Broncos against the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2012. . Tebow threw for 316 passing yards . Tebow averaged 31.6 yards per completion ( highest in NFL postseason history) . CBS's final ratings for this game was 31.6 . Time of possession was 31.06 Coincidence? I think not. Thanx, now for the reasons I like Shell Harbour: 1. The people that live & work here, everyone is nice & so friendly. 2. The food, best ever, 3 times a day. 3. We moved in Shell Harbor when it first opened in 2021 and we have never regretted doing so. The facility is beautiful. We have a nice apartment. We feel very safe here. We love the people. Everyone is so friendly; we have met many new friends. The food is good. There are lots of activities, a movie theatre, a pharmacy, fitness center, beauty parlor. We recommend this facility highly.

I moved my mother here from another state last year. I went to every single retirement community in Brevard County and Shell Harbor is the best one overall. The apartments are spacious, the facilities are very good. The restaurant provides excellent meals. They have a movie theater, gym, hair salon, and much more. There is always someone at the front desk 24-7. The staff is very friendly and attentive to the residents. They also provide transportation for residents for shopping and appointments. Family members are welcome to dine with their residents for a small fee. My mother loves it and has made lots of friends and it keeps her moving every single day. And by the way they have great ice cream.

Arriving at Shell Harbor in April 2023, I was pleasantly surprised to see how beautiful the building was. I felt I was in a five star hotel in NYC. As you enter the building you are greeted by the Concierge and will welcome you to Shell Harbor. The Concierge will be more than happy to direct you to the person that you have an appointment with. If you are there to meet with the Senior Living Consultant, you will be directed to his office and will answer any questions that you might have. The staff here at Shell Harbor is very professional and friendly to all of the residents and their visitors. I encourage anyone who is interested in finding a great retirement community to check out what Shell Harbor has to offer.

I am so lucky to live at Shell Harbor as I watched it being built. I have lived in two other facilities so I was able to compare it well. Of course I did not hesitate to move in once it was built. I got a one bedroom apartment and put in hardwood floors as I am in a wheelchair. I also took off the closet door so I could get in it with my wheelchair. They will do everything they can to make life easier for you. We have a wonderful maintenance worker that is capable and able to help with anything and everything. We have a beautiful dining room that has a great chef with delicious food. You will always have a choice of sandwiches, snacks, a fresh salad bar plus two kinds of soups and an ice cream machine with chocolate and caramel sauces available all day. We all enjoy our 150-seat theater to see entertainment and good movies. Once a month we have special dinners for birthdays and anniversaries. Also, once a month we have elaborate dinners and dances with entertainment. We have cleaning people that will change your linens, vacuum and dust once a week. They are trustworthy and pleasant and seem to love their job. Everyone has a chance to enjoy a choice of games and activities to earn Shell Harbor resort money to use at our auctions twice a year. You never have to be bored or lonely as everyone is friendly and wants to play cards, bingo, mahjong, bean bag, baseball, Rummikube, Domino's, bridge, blackjack, trivia, Bible study, karaoke, and anything else you can think of. There is a bus that takes you to the store, doctor, band concerts and other events. We all have our own washers and dryers which is so convenient. We also have a fantastic library. We have access to an off-site pool; pets are welcome, happy hour to get to know your neighbors, church services in our theater, beauty shop plus a store, and prescriptions can delivered to you. A dermatologist, a podiatrist, blood pressure checks, hearing aids checked, dentists (tooth fairy) that will all come to your apartment. Even an x-ray machine will come to your apartment. Just press a button and someone comes here to help. There is really nothing more you can want that you cannot find here at Shell Harbor.

It is not an active 55+. It is more of an assisted living facility without medical service. We finally got a good chef. They cannot advertise a salon on premises because there is none, we lost a good hard working activities director which brightened up the facility. She worked extra hours and I believe RSL did not want to compensate her, She is sorely missed. It did not take long for this development to make a sharp downfall. We never got to see the 3 to 5 percent rent increase, instead it is 8 to 10 percent. I am certain it was based on the federal increase rate. in January. But not even the federal percentage increased 8 to 10 percent. According to RSL everyone was raising their rents high, and of course RSL had to follow. We had good workers that were helpful and polite, but they are gone. Why? because RSL is cheap and greedy. SHAME, SHAME.

Shell Harbor is not the place for 55+ Independent living. It is more of an assisted living facility without the assistance. The review of one star by Mr. Heinzelman is the accurate review for 2023. I don't believe it will get better as long as RSL are the owners. They are cheap in paying their employees, therefore they lose many very good employees..

It's a lovely place to live, well maintained. That said, the rent just went up 8% for those who moved in prior to 2023 and 10% for those who came after. Prices are not stable, they're constantly increasing and there's a terrible turnover with kitchen staff. It used to be reasonably priced for visitors to eat with their loved ones, now it's $12 just for a regular meal and $18 for Sunday brunch. The food is cafeteria quality not restaurant quality, nothing justifies the price increase. That said, there's tons of great restaurants in the area and it's minutes from The Avenues. Although it's independent living, the majority of the residents really should be in assisted living. There are very few residents without a walker, so if you're like some of the seniors we know, and are sensitive to places that look like they're filled with sick people, then Shell Harbor is not for you.

We put our aunt there almost a year ago and she hates it. They stand in long lines for all meals, and the food is mediocre at best. The staff constantly comes and goes as they are overworked and underpaid. They promised transportation for medical appointments but that doesn't happen. It's impossible to get the bus whenever you need it as it only goes on their schedule - not when your appointment is. If you are looking, look elsewhere.

We found Shell Harper is the best place for my father-in-law. They have everything any retired person need and still keep their independency. They opened last year so everything is brand new and clean. The staff are very friendly and available 24 hours for the residences convenience and emergency. My father-in-law couldn’t be more happy anywhere else.
