This nursing facilities is truly outstanding. The staff goes above and beyond every day. The nurses and CNA’s are not only highly skilled, but also incredibly kind, patient, and attentive. Everyone is friendly, helpful, and generally cares about the residents. You can feel the compassion the moment you walk in. I’m very grateful for the care provided here and would highly recommend this facility to anyone looking for quality nursing care.

Brookdale Review I have lived here over almost 8 years. 1. The residents and staff are friendly and resourceful. 2. Every apartment on the ground floor has a patio; on the upper floors, every apartment has a balcony. Few if any other retirement homes in this area offer these amenities. I enjoy sitting on my patio. Many people have beautiful gardens. 3. We have a variety of interesting activities; I do not know of any other retirement center with such a generous list. 4. Transportation: free for medical appointments and official activities, including trips to banks and grocers. Paid transportation is also available. 5. Maintenance is good. For example, my dishwasher was not draining properly; I promptly got a new dishwasher. 6. Cost: comparable to other retirement homes. 7. Location: convenient to shopping, parks, and medical care. 8. Fire control is good. There are sprinkler systems, alarms, and fire doors. If you have a small fire, management comes immediately with an extinguisher. Because every apartment has a door to the outside, you can probably get out of a fire quickly. But most elderly people cannot open the windows, which need replacing. 9. Before signing a contract, request items you care about. For example, it is standard to get new carpeting in your apartment. I wish I had requested hard surface flooring by the bathroom sink and in the dining area. 10. Before you move here, look at other retirement homes. When you negotiate moving here, tell the agent that you have looked elsewhere. Like many residents, I considered several places and decided Brookdale was the best. I am having the time of my life here.

Brookdale 119th is a well-established community that actively welcomes new residents. They have the perfect balance of size, varied activities, and transportation to stores and doctor appointments. The residents are great, and the management staff are dedicated and responsive, with very little turnover in staff. It is a wonderful place to live and we are happy that our mother selected Brookdale 119th!

Management seems to be more concerned with fixing cosmetic stuff instead of functional issues (ie: elevators and washer/dryers). Food quality is going downward size wise plus too much spice and sauces. Staff is generally friendly and helpful.

The food is great. Variety in the menu is always appreciated. Where I lived before they occasionally served Tiramisu, and they sent out for Minsky's Pizza once a week. Maybe sauerkraut and mashed potatoes more often. Hard tacos are welcome. Any Asian food? Everyone has been very friendly and welcoming.

My Dad lived here for 6 years and was very happy there. The rooms are more spacious than most independent living facilities. The staff were always very friendly, helpful and responsive. They have a lot of entertainment options there, and the atmosphere is very homey and warm. Director, Jessica, always goes above and beyond to make sure her residents are taken care of.

If you are looking for independent senior living, Brookdale 119 in Overland Park is the place to live. The apartments are spacious, the food is delicious and there are plenty of activities to keep you busy. The staff is amazing. Deena, Jamie, Veronica, Alicia and John are so attentive. They are all so kind and caring. They go above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need. I highly recommend Brookdale 119.

Let me start by saying my father, in his mid-90s, hates most things, most people and pretty much anything new. My mom is a lot more easy-going, but suffice to say we never thought we would find an independent living situation that would meet their expectations AND budget. After an exhaustive search throughout Johnson County, we landed on Brookdale at 119th, and what a blessing it has been! They love it there! It starts with the staff. I truly cannot say enough about the highly professional, responsive and empathetic staff members, from top to bottom. I'd like to specifically note Veronica on the sales team and Jaime who handles resident services. They are the gold standard. My parents love their spacious, bright, two-bedroom apartment. Everything was freshly painted and carpeted when they moved in. All apartments have a nice-sized balcony or patio area. In the common areas, everything is on point, from the decor, to the soothing art on the walls, even the lighting. It all feels homey and welcoming. Residents take pride in their balconies or patios, with many showcasing gorgeous flowers. There's a community garden. The food is above average -- sometimes well above average. You can tell that the chef (who has apparently been there for decades) really makes an effort. The entertainment, excursions, etc. are non-stop and varied. No place is perfect and I suppose I could quibble about a few things, but overall I never dreamed we could find a place like Brookdale 119th for my parents. Check it out and ask for Veronica!

Brookdale has been an answer to our prayers when it came to finding a senior living facility for our family member. Brookdale is a beautiful, inviting community and offers a great variety of activities, dining options, and amenities. The staff are amazing with encouraging resident (and family) involvement, and our dad enjoyed making friendships and participating in the community activities. There is very much a "family feel" when you visit the community and we are forever thankful for all of the help and support that our family has received from Brookdale.

Brookdale 119 became my mom's home. I never thought that would be possible after she protested for nearly two years about the idea of moving from her long-time home to a place like Brookdale 119. She was dug in that she would never move from her home but a trip to the hospital finally convinced her it was time to go to a place where others could check up on her, if needed. I interviewed several locations and Brookdale was by far the most responsive to my questions/concerns. The staff and residents immediately made my mom feel welcomed on her first day. My mom had many activities to do each day - but, she could also just relax in her apartment if she wanted to. And best of all, no cooking or cleaning was required! My mom was loved every day at Brookdale 119 - hugs and smiles were everywhere. After two years at 119, my mom moved across the street to assisted living - dementia care (Brookdale Overland Park) The folks at 119 helped my mom (and me) each step of the way and made the difficult COVID move possible. And, the 119 folks continue to check-in on her even though she has not lived there for three months. How awesome is that?! I hate to name names because I will leave so many good people out but I need to highlight two special people. The Executive Director (Jessica) and the Marketing Director (Alecia) are two very special people. Your loved one(s) will be in great hands with those two in-charge. They both have caring hearts and go beyond expectations to ensure that concerns are addressed and that the residents are safe and having fun. Jessica is a tireless worker who has excelled during the COVID crisis - that is what excellent leaders do - they rise to the occasion. Jessica will ensure that your mom/dad is well taken care of - she has set an excellent tone at the community during a terrible time. She helped my family beyond words with her support - always making herself available and coming up with solutions that I never dreamed possible. Alecia kept in touch with me during the time when I was trying to get my mom to consider moving from her house. Alecia had many great ideas and gave me a lot of support. She is a wonderful person who became my point of contact at the community - she was not in it just to make a sale. I now refer to her as my friend. I never thought I would get as much, if not more, from Brookdale 119 than my mom got! I know there are many choices in South OP for senior living - to include many fancy places that feel like a cruise ship. What we got at 119 was a home - a place where my mom was openly loved everyday by everyday people who truly had her best interest at heart. And, they have happy hour just like the cruise ship places but at a cheaper price! We will miss the people of Brookdale 119. Thank you 119!

We find Brookdale 119 to be a very caring and friendly place. My husband’s parents lived there for more than four years. The activities they became involved with and the overall caring of the staff was fabulous. Everyone seemed involved and engaged and that goes from the staff in the dining area to the cleaning staff to the front desk staff .... everyone genuinely cares about the residents. Imy husband would see his parents on a daily basis and felt comfortable going home at night knowing they were safe and just a phone call away if something were to happen. We have lived here for about 6 months and already feel quite "at home". The apartments are comfortable, adequately sized and well maintained. We have 2 small dogs and they have a small fenced in yard for their own space. Brookdale's staff is friendly, available and always ready to address any concerns. There are many planned activities and outings. Enough to keep us as busy as we want to be. All in all, Brookdale 119 was a great choice for us.

Compassionate and helpful with my parents initial move from their home of 50+ years when we uprooted them their friends and community. Now located over 900 miles from "home", the staff and fellow residents were warm and welcoming to help them quickly settle in to their new lifestyle and 'home', a spacious 2 BR residence. The meals, friendly staff and socialization was just what our family needed. Stephanie and her personalized living team were second to none: medication management, monitoring of vitals, companionship to meals after my Dad passed away, and just having a second-set of caring eyes and ongoing dialogue with our family provided a peace of mind that was priceless. The proximity to my own home (2 miles), location adjacent to hospital and their doctors' office , with a plethora of shopping and amenities within 5 minutes was IDEAL. Thanks Brookdale!

For me living at Brookdale means making new friends. Like many other elderly people; I have lost family, home, most of what was familiar and comfortable to me. My friends from work or professional association many times get left behind as we need specialized services. Our friends don't always follow us through treatment for memory, physical therapy. moving, etc. Brookdale offers many opportunities for training our minds, hands, bodies and have realized the Brookdale also gives me opportunities to make new friends. These friends can be fellow residents but also staff and associates. I enjoy meeting new people and have good friends who serve me my food, do my personal laundry, intercept and direct items i have ordered from Amazon. Living here is like living in a small town where every body knows me cares about my wellbeing, and gives me a BIG SMILE and cares about me. We may not always remember each other names, but like in a small town we always smile and wave.

My parents started out at Brookdale in the same large apartment. They simply love it and the employees treat them like royalty. My mom, unfortunately had to move to the dementia care wing of Brookdale, but my dad remained independent in a bit smaller apt. The people, especially nurse Stephanie have been so kind and supportive. She calls me with updates and gives them hugs when she sees them. Brookdale is a life saver for me because I live out of state and I know I can trust in their care. Services can keep them comfortable so they aren't so dependent on their families for things they don't want to "Burden" them with. Brookdale keeps them independent and having fun as long as they are able. Thank you all who care for both. God has a special place for you all.

Brookdale has been a great solution for my mother. Even though she loved having her own home, she realized it had become too much for her to manage. She enjoys being able to still garden in her own small yard and the staff is always ready to help. It's comforting knowing that they check on her every morning, she has emergency cords in her apartment, and she has the opportunity of getting two hot meals each day. Plus, we love the convenient location!
