Highly Recommend for Senior Living! As the owner of Home Matters Caregiving, I recently had the wonderful opportunity to meet with Maureen and her team at Solstice Senior Living. What a beautiful property! They have so many exciting upgrades and renovations just around the corner. Maureen and her team were incredibly welcoming, and the entire staff is so friendly. Having met with several communities across Pierce County, I would definitely suggest taking a look at Solstice if you or a loved one are exploring community-based living. I look forward to getting involved with this fantastic team to serve their seniors through volunteering and workshops, and I can't wait for our next meeting!

I wish they would be consistent about putting menus on website! Maybe 50 percent of the time it is blank.I personally have so many issues of no meals when ordered for pick up or something missing! They need to start reading the info on the order slips!!! How hard is that? Never ever get soup of the day at dinner! And now they are charging me $3.00 for every meal I order for pick up! Rediculus!!

We've lived here at Point Defiance Solstice for more than a year, and we enjoy our life very much now. It was a serious change for us, moving from a house to apartment-style living, but our family was supportive in the process. A cottage was a possibility, but we chose an apartment. We have found dozens of new friends here. The staff is friendly and helpful, especially the activities staff. The maintenance staff is quick to respond to perceived issues. We find the food provided is good, varied in style, and nutritious. Several of our friends have dogs, but we have a cat. Pets are accepted. We are happy to call Solstice our home.

I love living here. I recently put my townhome on the market and move into a much smaller apt here. The management changed over the past year and I feel we are all on a great track moving forward. I just had a full hip replacement and glad to be on one level. Come check it out.

I have loved ones that have lived at Solstice Senior Living for over 5 years and while there have been management changes and the transition can be challenging, the staff has always strived to provide quality care. The facility is clean, including a beautiful dining area, library and laundry facilities. The decor changes with the season and holidays that makes it festive and cheerful. The staff from Administration to the cook and cleaning staff are always professional and accommodating. The campus is groomed and offers many fun and engaging activities. It is also very secure and I always felt comfortable with my loved one living there. I would highly recommend Solstice Senior Living at Point Defiance. Thank you.

Solstice has a nice home sweet home feeling. Friendly staff throughout the whole building. The residents are also friendly to interact with. Clean and well decorated place. Reasonable rent prices. Different activities all the time for the residents. Centrally located close to the waterfront and point defiance zoo. Safe neighborhood. Well maintained grounds landscape. Nice pond to walk around for exercise.

The environment here at Solstice is very welcoming. The staff greet me with a smile everyday. I take care of my previous neighbors who have lived here for seven years. They really like living here. The staff always look out for both of them. The new kitchen staff have implemented more vegetarian options and I am thankful. They are also open to suggestions when needed. Overall Solstice is a great place to live and meet new people!

I know all caring facilities go through challenging times. What I like about Solstive senior living, is that they're trying to make it through these challenging times and still meet the needs of all residents. I believe the staff are doing the best they can under all the challenging circumstances. My neighbors, who l care for, have lives here seven years. I am delighted to say that the staff give special attention to the needs of the residence. We would not be able to keep our neighbors here if it weren't for the caring staff. The management has an open door always and is wiling to listen and address issues. I have appreciated the vegetarian options on the menu and variety too. We just need to learn to be kinder than necessary for everyone we meet is going through a battle. CJ

I have lived at Solstice at Point Defiance for 2 years. So many new friends. I feel like I have a new family of friends . We really care about each other and do what we can to lend an occasional helping hand when it is needed. The community setting is beautiful - surrounded by acres of trees with walking trails and a nice little pond with ducks. The community is conveniently located to shopping, entertainment, and restaurants. Our shuttle is available several days a week for shopping, doctor visits and other outings. The maintenance manager and crew keep the facility clean and well maintained. We have a variety of activities including arts & crafts, a very nice library, a weekly movie, entertainment several times a month , and church services on Sunday. I am free to pick and chose any of these and suggest any others that I would like to be considered and when I want it have complete privacy in my apartment. We have a great office staff. They couldn’t be more helpful, friendlier, and caring. Always take the time to listen to and talk with us when we need it. They are cognizant of our wants and needs and work extremely hard to keep us comfortable and safe

My wife & I have lived here for several months. The staff is attentive, friendly, and always anxious to be of service. This is an all-inclusive organization, so we are offered healthy meals and light housekeeping. Meals are well-planned with a good variety of quality food. Since the main building was not originally designed to have crutches, motorized scooters, or wheelchairs, if the elevator is not functioning (like in a fire or earthquake), some residents on the upper floor could have mobility problems (and those residents should consider moving to a lower floor). We would recommend Solstice without reservation.

My mom moved here in August and was originally very happy. There have been major changes in management and we are very disappointed. First, the dining has gone seriously downhill. Menus routinely include terrible food options as the main course, such as hot dogs. The new chef is a very lovely person but she does not have experience as a chef. There has been a big decline in food quality, selection and service. There is almost never a fresh fruit or vegetable available at meal time. If there is a vegetable even included, it is a canned, nasty option. The meats have gone from nice options to mystery meats. My mom is frequently ordering extra hard boiled eggs to supplement protein. They run out of food and serve hot dogs to the final diners. This baffles me. They know exactly how many people they need to feed. Why is there a problem with ordering and planning? When she first moved in the dining room was a great place to be. All the servers knew all the residents. In fact, the lack of turnover is a reason we selected Solstice for mom. Residents often had guests over for meals. Now servers are constantly being replaced. They are frequently understaffed, and the executive director is in the kitchen helping. And no resident would invite a guest over for this food. The change in executive leadership led to the firing or pushing out of a lot of long time staff. Basic procedures have changed. Many residents are moving out. Solstice has a beautiful setting and my mom loves her cottage. But the decreased activities and dramatic decline in food are a serious problem. Look at the pictures attached to this review. One shot is what they have on their website. The others are recent meals for my mom. The sandwich was the only item served for that meal. There was no vegetable, fruit, dessert, etc. They are not meeting their claims or basic dietary guidelines at all.

Wonderful assisted living. The only bad part is there is only ONE elevator. If it were to ever break.. the residents would have no way going from floor to floor except the stairs.

I lived at Solstice from April to mid November. The staff and residents embraced me like family. The amenities are top notch. The food is delicious, menus offering a variety of tasty, delightful dishes. Housekeepers are consistently efficient and very attentive to detail. The office administration is warm, friendly and highly proficient and professional. I was proud to be part of the Solstice family. The experience made me a better friend and neighbor overall.

If I could give this place a hundred stars I would. The attention to detail is amazing. This place is very clean, the food is great, there is a shuttle to take resident's out into the community, they have organized activities, every home includes a housekeeper, and they work with a company that will provide affordable in-home assistance to residents. They have thought of everything, and the staff is wonderful!!! They take such good care of my loved one that it frees me up to have a relationship with him that isn’t consumed by care taking duties. I love this place!

I visited twice and went on a tour of all that Solstice has to offer. My dad is excited to move in to a place that was very caring and accommodating to his needs. He is looking forward to meeting new friends and enjoying the peaceful grounds on daily walks. Solstice allows for independence with a daily check in to make sure everything is going ok. I’m looking forward to him being happy and independent.

I have been so grateful and pleased with the level of care Solstice Senior Living has provided for my dad. The staff is incredible, kind, and extremely helpful. The food is delicious and the apartments are a comfortable size and layout. The bathrooms are already equipped with grip bars, hand head shower nozzles, and built in seats with low step tubs and shower stalls. Everything that my dad has needed they have helped him set up and do everything they can to make him feel welcomed and at home. They take care of both practical needs such as shelter, cleaning, food, television, and local transportation, but they also provide a wide range of opportunities for social interactions and fun outings. The location is quiet and safe with lots of excellent bike riding options and availability. This is an especially good location for seniors who are pretty physically active and enjoy the outdoors. My dad was former Airforce and has been a fitness buff all his life so this was a really important consideration for trying to find the right community for him. And it’s only approximately 15 miles away from the American Lake VA. I feel secure knowing my dad is living in safe and caring environment that helps him to maintain the dignity of his independence for as long as possible while providing him with a gentle supportive helping hand when needed.

Emilee was very nice and helpful. The community has a warm and homey atmosphere and the apartments are much more spacious than other communities I’ve visited. I’m hoping my mom will like it as much as I did. I would love for her to live here.

I took a tour there with my father, and they made a very, very good impression! When we got there we were greeted with a sign at the front door that said "Welcome (our names)" This truly did make my nervous father feel very welcome to be there, right as we entered the door. As we walked through the halls it was very clear that the staff had a GENUINELY good relationship with the residents. It was clean, and I really got the sense that staff truly cared about their work and the happiness of those that reside there. Giving 4 stars because my experience only consisted of an hour. I can't say what it's like to live there.

Solstice is a great place for active seniors. They have a fun staff and they do a lot of fun activities for the community. At Solstice seniors have a community around them so they don't feel so lonely. Their pricing is affordable and they've newly remodeled so the apartments are up to date and modern.

Helpful, friendly They offer a nice senior living situation. Includes lots of services. Their prices is in line with other full service senior housing. As an out of state retiree, we need to learn more about the area traffic patterns. Otherwise, it's a great location by the park. And a short walk to the ferry and water side businesses.

Only saw pictures on line and then Emily I believe called and then I received calls frequently it seemed like. I actually found Solstice due to one of the employees that used to work where my Mom lives. From the photos and computer ’ tour I found it to be Beautiful and friendly!! It wasn’t until I Advised the person calling last time, how much Mom is paying and my Husband and I being retired and I with medical issues couldn’t pay the extra, that was pretty much it. Sorry, but I appreciated the time.

This place is awesome. The residents are so kind and loving. Most of the employees are nice especially Vanessa the enrichment coordinator shes great at what she does, the residents adore her, she truly cares about them and works hard to keep them busy with activities. Great place for retired people to live!
