I am a personal aid/assistant to a retired Dr who has been living at Arbor Terrace Evergreen Unit for over a year and just want to say what a wonderful facility this is. Wonderful activities and the aids in the Evergreen Unit are the best. The Director, Nick and his management staff are all very efficient. The kitchen staff as well as the staff who provides the daily activities are all wonderful and caring. It is such a special place for seniors who require assiatance. The Wellness staff are very efficient. It is just a wonderful place to grow old in.

I recently toured this facility with my elder uncle. We were greeted at the front by Maryam Toler. She was very pleasant to us. She was also, very knowledgeable of the facility and the care my uncle would receive there. He loved the place right away which, shocked me because we have been touring assistant living spaces for a couple of months now. I’ve been considering Assisted Living options for a loved one and recently toured Arbor Terrace Mountainside, while visiting I had the opportunity to meet several directors and I must say, this being the fourth community I’ve visited - the experience here was different. The Executive Director is well versed in all things Assisted Living, their sales team - truly interested in my loved ones needs. Their nursing director- extremely l knowledgeable. In the coming months I look forward to transitioning my loved one to Mountainside.

This is an absolutely beautiful community! Friendly and attentive staff that really focus on providing the most supportive care and fun activities for the residents. I love the apartment styles and the option for The Bridges program. It makes transitioning to the community so much easier for someone with an early stage cognitive impairment. Highly recommend checking it out especially because some neighborhoods have a waitlist. A high end community that still feels like home.

Wonderful Wonderful is all I can say! Looking for a safe and caring environment for your parent isn't easy. It's stressful and full of uncertainty and you can't help but wonder if you're making the "right" decision. I've toured quite a few facilities and liked some fine, but the moment I walked into Arbor Terrace it just felt right. It's beautifully kept, the staff was friendly, the residents seemed happy. Maryam was very kind and patient. She answered all of my questions thoroughly and even highlighted somethings that I had not considered. I took up quite a bit of her time, and never once did I feel rushed through the process she even invited me to bring my mom in for lunch and arranged for her to meet a few of the residents. I cannot be more appreciative on the time and care they took with us. They made the process feel a little less intimidating for my mom and provided my family with peace of mind.

Met with Maryam the other day to tour the facility with my mother. Maryam was patient, personable, and thorough. It was extremely comforting at such a hard time to have Maryam guide and be there for us. It was also important to have her help my mother feel that she would be at home coming to Arbor Terrace, ensuring they would do anything they could to help a smooth transition. After touring 3 other facilities, coming to Arbor Terrace was without a doubt the best choice. Arbor Terrace is an amazing place, extremely clean and I would even say modern (definitely compared to others). Even the current residents were happy and engaging - genuinely. Great place and they are lucky to have Maryam!

Our mom has been a resident at Arbor Terrace for the past 7 months. I cannot say enough about the staff and the facility. When you walk into the front door you are greeted with a smile and a hearty hello. The facility is lovely and the lobby is welcoming. The staff is caring and always helpful from the moment we decided our mom was going to move in. They assisted to expedite the paperwork to move her in, set up physical therapy to get her moving, ensure she gets the best care plus addresses all of our questions and concerns. They always have activities, live music weekly and movies for the residents. Arbor Terrace is a wonderful place .

My mom decided that an assisted living facility was right for her at this stage of her life. She asked me to help her find the right place. We visited a few places but she kept coming back to Arbor Terrace Mountainside as the place she felt most comfortable. An apartment became available this month and though she wasn’t ready, she thought that if she passed it by, another might not come up too soon. She moved in at the beginning of May 2025. In one week she has adjusted and said that it is the best decision she could have made. She has made friends, found several things to do that interest her, enjoyed the meals and the live music on Fridays and so much more. The staff has been much more than just helpful - they have made every step of the way comfortable and pleasant. Thanks go to Maryam (you eased the way and we are forever grateful), Madeleine, Janelle and Nick for all they’ve done to make mom feel welcome. I cannot say enough about this place. Even the women at the front desk are understanding, fun to talk to and accommodating. Though I am not yet ready for Arbor Terrace, I would seriously consider this place when the time comes. It is my mother’s new home and she is delighted.

My mother was a resident in the Evergreen Neighborhood (Memory Care) for about 9 months prior to her passing. The staff could not have been more wonderful to her and the rest of our family. While her Alzheimer’s disease certainly did not disappear while she was there, with the help of the staff and physicians we were able to take her off some of her medications and provide her with the mental, emotional and physical stimulation she needed to transform her status from non-communicative, non-eating and barely mobile person to a person who began walking with a walker, eating without assistance, participating in group activities, having wonderful conversations and doing her favorite thing, playing rummy with staff and family. Her transformation was miraculous and resulted in the last few months of her life being happy ones for her and holding meaningful memories for all of us who loved her. The caring staff, beautiful facility and excellent physical and occupational therapy staff made a world of difference for our entire family. We will be forever grateful.

Shortly after Arbor Terrace opened in Mountainside NJ in 2018, my mother moved there from another assisted living facility. Mom moved because Arbor was better suited to her budget and needs, esp. her desire for a shared apartment. We were very happy with Mom’s previous residence, but Arbor has been a step up in every way. (1) Unlike other assisted living facilities, Arbor Terrace has THREE communities: Assisted Living (independent), Bridges (mild dementia), and Evergreen (advanced dementia). My mom started in Bridges, then moved to Evergreen as her dementia progressed. Seamless transition. (2) It’s been my experience that everyone working at Arbor Terrace Mountainside genuinely cares about the residents. I mean EVERYBODY. They demonstrate extraordinary alertness, energy, dedication, caring, and compassion. During the Covid-19 crisis, they worked some serious magic to keep all the residents healthy. It definitely feels like the Arbor staff and my family are all on the same team, working hard to take the best possible care of my mom. (3) The Nursing Director is excellent. (4) The food at Arbor Terrace is very good. I’d be happy to eat there myself everyday. (5) The engagement activities are many and varied. (6) The building is gorgeous, new, and well-maintained. (7) The management never coasts; they are constantly making changes to improve things. They keep families informed. The Executive Director is very approachable.

Great care. Good facility. Lousy food. The staff kept the residents safe during COVID, and they do seem to care and try. Except for the food. Despite repeated resident and family complaints, over two years, this sadly doesn’t change, and negatively impacts the quality of life. Still, I’ll take the safety, but am dissatisfied with the consistently poor quality from the kitchen. (I’ll gladly update this review if they would take action on a local level , rather than social media responses with no actual improvement.)

My mother-in-law had been living independently, but in summer 2020, it became clear that she needed memory care in addition to assistance with meal preparation, bathing, laundry, and cleaning. My husband and I were very worried about her and about her transition to assisted living. The staff at Arbor Terrace Mountainside (ATM) allayed our concerns with their combination of hyper-competence, helpfulness, and personal warmth. The physical space was relatively recently built so the common space looks like a nice hotel lobby with a gas fireplace and good lighting fixtures. My mother-in-law's room is also well laid out with a large, accessible bathroom, good closet space, and two windows that look out onto a courtyard patio. My mother-in-law has already received her first dose of a coronavirus vaccine and will be receiving her second dose soon. I feel like she is getting much better, more regular medical attention at ATM, than she was receiving when living independently. The ATM staff really held our hands to help us navigate the moving in process during a pandemic. They responded quickly and thoroughly to our many, many questions, and really went the extra mile to help my mother-in-law feel welcome. I think they fully deserve this five star review.

Act with equal parts compassion and courage- compassion for your parents' feelings and courage to act to ensure their safety and well being- even when it's hard. When our Mother's care needs exceeded what we could provide her at home, we visited several Assisted Living communities with stellar reputations before choosing Arbor Terrace Mountainside. While it's a beautiful facility, it's the dedicated staff that sets them apart. Purposeful and committed to quality care, their vigilance resulted in no positive cases of Covid-19 amongst residents. They work together as a team to ensure residents' physical and emotional wellness. Be your parents advocate. No place is perfect. Arbor Terrace management is communicative and responsive should issues arise.

I would completely recommend to someone to have their loved one live at Arbor Terrace. My 90 year old mother with Dementia has lived here since it opened in 2018 and it is beautiful, warm, and extremely engaging for the residents who live there. She is getting the care she deserves during this time of her life. While no assisted living facility is able to take care of our mom 100% the way we would like them to, Arbor Terrace in Mountainside New Jersey comes really close. The whole team works tirelessly to care for our mom. From the doctors, nurses, care and activity providers to the kitchen, building and office teams they make our mom as comfortable as possible; she receives the attention she needs. When we have an issue, we bring it to Arbor Terrace’s attention and it gets resolved to our satisfaction. We are grateful to the Arbor Terrace’s teams for taking care of our mom during the Covid-19 pandemic and during this season of her life. Since we have not been able to see our mother (grandmother and great grandmother) due to this pandemic, the staff have gone out of their way to accommodate our requests. We have a weekly Zoom call with our mom where she is able to see 15 of her family members at once. Since my mother is unable to set this up herself, the staff members communicate with us weekly and do it for her. We will be forever grateful to the lovely staff at Arbor Terrace.

Can't Brag Enough About This Place! Arbor Terrace Mountainside has been outstanding even before but most notably during this COVID pandemic! Having placed my mom here exactly one year ago from a competitive facility, I can tell you they stand apart from the competition. They are professional, friendly and personable. The immediate response and communication flow has been exceptional. The corporate offices and the local Arbor have been over-communicating with us via text, phone, email and regular zoom calls! They were very pro-active being the first facility in the area to go on strict lock-down--no visitors, no random entries or exists. The staff and administration were responsive and on this crisis immediately, and it showed it their results!! One of the few places in the area, where there are consistently NO positive cases of staff nor residents over the past few months. They have been accommodating with personal requests given the situation. My mom has had some minor medical requests, which they have been able to manage by tele-med or taking care of it on our behalf. I just thank my luck stars every day we moved my mother to this facility. She is in good hands and I can sleep safely at night knowing this place truly is "A Place for Mom"!

I am extremely pleased with this community. My parents are in Bridges and they are safe, well-cared for, comfortable and given their meds at the correct times. The staff is wonderful, no matter what shift. I cannot imagine what their life would have been like during this current health crisis if they were elsewhere; there are no horror stories to tell here. There have been ZERO cases of covid-19 in this community due to the excellent care plan that was in place early on. Even though direct visitation is not possible yet, there has been great communication. There were weekly emails from corporate headquarters supplemented by bi-weekly Zoom meetings with the the executive director of the community. Weekly communication via Zoom has enabled our family to keep in touch with my parents throughout. We have gotten to know many of the staff by name and vice-versa. It is a warm and inviting place and I can't wait until I can visit again in person”not only to see my parents in person, but to thank all of their many caring caregivers.
