I came across an very old lady in a motorized wheel chair on the sidewalk by the Wharf 7 apartments on Daniel Island who was inarticulate and lost with her wheel chair out of power. How did this happen?????? This is a seriously dangerous situation. I would never recommend such a facility that allowed this situation to occur.

I was discharged from Well More, Daniel Island on Saturday BEFORE LAST ! I had broken my hip. They discharged Me With OUT a Walker, Or A Roller Walker, NO CANE NOT Crutches, NOTHING!!! I asked when I got there to have Medicare Provide Me With A Wheel Chair, Didn’t Get ANYTHING !The day I was Discharged they told Me I would Receive A Wheelchair On Tuesday AfTER I Got HOME , TOMORROW Is TUESDAY “A WEEK” Later AND I STILL DONT HAVE A Wheelchair!!!! We Have Called many times, My Nurse has Called Well More, My Therapist’s have Called But NO ONE CAN TELL US Anything !!! I’m VERY Disappointed And Upset With Well More and Staff !!!!

They put on some really good activities here. They do fun excursions, like to USS Yorktown, on top of the shopping trips for Assisted living. There's themed events at the facility too. I even remember them bringing in a petting zoo and pony ride.

Communication from the administration is top notch and timely from admission to discharge, and continues if you choose to move in. The administrator, Ryan's door is always open and he will greet you with a smile. Allison, the social worker, is caring and compassionate and will do anything she can to help you or your loved one find what's best for your situation. April and Mollie, the DON and ADON, work endlessly to make the place run smooth and safely, are both caring and compassionate, and are always available when needed.

I encountered what I can only describe as an earthly angel: Nurse Tabitha (I regret not knowing her surname) from admissions. Her kindness and competence were exceptional. After an unfortunate fall in her home, my mother required several weeks of in-patient, sub-acute rehab services. The medical staff at MUSC strongly recommended Wellmore - and the recommendation was certainly well-deserved. The relatively new facility is visually appealing - well decorated and with ample natural light. Additionally, while my mother may not have taken advantage of all of the amenities available (e.g., exercise & PT rooms, dining room, common spaces, indoor pool), it left a very favorable impression on her (and me) that they were at her disposal. With respect to the staff and the treatment that was provided, our experience was also very positive. While slightly more structure to her day would have been appreciated (as I understand is to be expected with sub-acute rehab), the professionalism of the team and the care provided was highly appreciated. The Wellmore care team responsible for my mother's treatment were attentive, highly respectful and available to address all needs and issues.

All I can say is WOW!! I broke my back and after surgery and some time in the hospital I needed rehab before being allowed to go home. Having no idea where to go, Wellmore was suggested as an option. The several weeks I was there was truly amazing. From the nursing staff to administration to the social workers and the exceptional therapists that helped me walk and function normally again…all top shelf. If you need rehab there is only one place to go in the Charleston South Carolina area and that is Wellmore of Daniel Island.

My mother in law has been at Wellmore for about 4 months. Things seemed great at first, but we are getting more and more concerned for her welfare as the days go by. This weekend, a nursing assistant took away her call button that she wears around her neck because she needs assistance with mobility and the woman became agitated with my mother in law. Also there have been incidents where we've had to report incidences of rough handling and disrespectful treatment, such as being awoken very early in the morning with being yelled and grabbed. She's also had an aide fall asleep in a chair in her room, to the point of snoring. All we've heard about is staffing shortages, while they still seem to have plenty of time to converse on their phones and each other. There have been many cases of misunderstandings with her medications and health care. The food initially was good, now it's barely edible. The PT and OT departments have been great. If things don't change, I don't know if we can leave our loved one at this place. I feel like after they got us to sign up, their work was done.

My mother had a massive stroke at 91 and was completely independent prior. She is now at Wellmore in skilled nursing. She is not an easy resident, not because of her personality, but because of her the deficits the stroke left her with. Mama is non verbal, can not write and can only communicate with her expressions. She has no use of her right side so she can not walk or transfer herself. The staff at The Wellmore have been so kind and patient to get to know mom's needs and how to read her expressions to meet her needs. They make sure she is dressed and fluffed. They move her from one place to another and engage her with kind words. If I do have an issue the management team is quick to respond. The management team has also, worked tirelessly with me on the hurdles of her Medicare plan. The nursing staff and medical team listen to my concerns and adjust as we see new things come up. Physical therapy has been wonderful and thinks outside the box. The food has been good and Mama eats everything on her plate (I have had to bring fresh vegetables and salads to supplement to get more roughage in her). All in all for our unique situation, Wellmore has met our needs! Many thanks to their team!

My husband was admitted to Memory Care at Wellmore on April 7, 2022. He is still in an adjustment period and the staff are very attentive to his needs. My husband does not always like to participate in activities; however, the Activity Director(s) have been extremely creative with individualizing activities which make him feel useful and/or afford him to be outside where he loves to be. He has been in no other placement where this much effort has been exhibited by staff (to include administrative) to ensure a successful placement. The staff stay in contact with me and frequently send me pictures of him when he is participating in meaningful events. This gesture is very much appreciated. I have also been pleased with how quickly they communicate with me if I have questions or suggestions regarding my husband's care. If you are seeking placement for your loved one, please take a tour at Wellmore before you make your final decision.

My mother was well cared for while living at Wellmore in Assisted Living for 11 months. The staff decorated her room for Christmas, and with balloons and flowers when she turned 102 in July 2021.They always made it a point to help her choose her outfits for the day and spent time visiting in her room. Mom enjoyed using the gym for physical therapy for the first 6 months until her declining health kept her mostly bed ridden. (She passed in August 2021). She often commented on the sunny attractiveness of her room and the dining area, and enjoyed sitting outside on the front terrace.We only wish we'd known about Wellmore sooner since she would have been able to avail herself of more of Wellmore's programs such as water aerobics and lectures.We would recommend Wellmore to anyone who asks.

My wife Ann recently passed away while under care at the mental section of Wellmore of Daniel Island SC. I can not say enough good things about the outstanding care she received and the support I received from the staff at Wellmore particularly when she approached the end of her days. They fed her and talked to her and felt outright sorry for her. They always helped me during my visits and were always more than willing to provide for her special needs. My wifes room was always spotless and clean. Her clothes and bed lindens were almost changed on a daily bases and the cooperation of her care between Hospice of Charleston and Wellmore staff was always there and they provided her the best care possible care given the circumstances. Mr Jeff Barber and Linda Wells, Wellmore Director and senior nurse care giver, were always available to assist me and answer any questions I may have. They saw to it at the end that I had ample time to spend with wife before she passed. I will always be grateful to them and the support they and their staff gave me during this period of my life.

I have been very pleased with the care and service my mom has received since moving her from another senior facility in Mt. Pleasant last year. Food is excellent and both the exterior and interior of the building is beautiful and comforting. Mom loves the pool and exercise program. Communication from the director and nurses have been great with all the coronavirus restrictions.

My Mom has been an assisted-living resident of Wellmore for over a year now and we are very pleased with our experience. She moved from another upper-end facility in Mt Pleasant, and Wellmore is significantly better in every respect. We moved my in laws here over two months ago from a facility in Florida. Weve found the service and the staff to be outstanding. Weve dont share any of the concerns or negative observations that are contained in other reviews. Some people seem to want to think that a facility like this can turn the clock back to 1977 for someone whos 85 years old. It cant. Wellmore provides a level of comfort for my family members thats caring, clean and competent. Thats all I ask for. And, Wellmore delivers on their promise. I tend to ignore the negative comments. Ive met a few of the malcontents and they expect the care givers to turn the clock back 40 years. Its distressing how infrequently some people visit yet they think theyve seen enough to make negative comments. Im there visiting once a day and sometimes twice. Everything, and I mean everything, is the absolute best. If you have problems with this facility, you should move your resident to another facility. Your negative postings are not fair to the hard working staff at Wellmore.

Being in multiple assisted living places and seeing how they are operated I can tell you that this place is one of the good ones. The people who work here care about the residents, they are active listeners, they are always willing to help, they go above and beyond to make a residents day. This is the place you want yourself or your family members to be at.

We enjoy that this place is close to the city of Charleston but that its located on Daniel Island so the greenery is everywhere and theres no city noise... its very peaceful. I recently moved my Aunt to Wellmore Memory Care and she is a happy person again! Wellmore has done a great job on all levels. I am an RN and know healthcare. The employees at Wellmore have been chosen with care and it shows. The staff is proactive with the needs of my Aunt verses reactive. I was able to travel overseas recently with great piece of mind, which I havent felt in 2 years! I tried her at other facilities in the Charleston area and things were always disappointing and depressing. Wellmore deserves all 5 Stars! The facility is beautiful as well as the staff! We are lucky to have Wellmore in Charleston.

The biggest decision about this review was to give a 4 or 5-star rating. I thought about what I would change to deserve a 5 star and the answer is nothing. Wellmore on Daniel Island so far has been a home run. Speaking from experience of having dealt with my in-laws health care issues for the last few years I know how the sausage factory works! I have run the gambit of most of the Charleston area hospitals and rehab facilities as well as another senior living facility that shall remain nameless. None of these facility comes anywhere close to the level of service that Wellmore provides. Wellmore has taken the time to screen employees and it shows in the attention and care given to residents. The whole staff has gone out of its way to make sure not only the residents but the residents family is comfortable with the care. The facilities are beautiful and tastefully decorated. The place is big and one wonders how residents are going to deal with the distance from their rooms to the clubhouse for dining but so far so good. The dining area and quality of food are worthy of a 5-star rating on Yelp. The whole kitchen staff is friendly and attentive to again not only the residents but the family as well. Youll no longer have to beg the kids to visit the grandparents once they taste the thin crust pizza or ice cream. Great idea of making the facility appealing to the family. Wellmore has set the bar high, hopefully, this will be the new standard in senior care. I highly recommend Wellmore for those seeking assisted living or a skilled nursing facility.
