Reviews Gardens at Escondido

We moved our dad to the Gardens at Escondido last March. I can't say enough about the incredible care the staff has given him. They are patient, caring and friendly. They provide a variety of different activities to keep the residents moving and social. There are sunny outside common areas, including a rooftop garden area for the residents to enjoy the beautiful San Diego fresh air. The food is great and you will commonly see the staff floating around the dining room chatting with the residents during meal times. The med-techs there are knowledgeable and attentive about each residents particular need. The atmosphere is small and comfortable. I love the family feel when you walk in the front doors.

We thoroughly enjoyed meeting Susie, the customer rep who gave us the tour….she did a great job of explaining the problems when you are looking for a place for a relative or friend and she was so thorough about her knowledge of the challenges of old age that we were amazed! The place had some attractive small gardens and very unique areas for people to walk in even though it was on the small side and hemmed in by businesses on all sides. People were allowed to stay in their apartment even if their health status had changed. This led to a lot of folks who needed assisted living next door to people who are completely independent. Not sure that would be a good thing for my friend who wants to come as an independent person. Also the rooms were on the small side and there were no available rooms for what my friends needs.

I have taken my 91 yr old dad to The Gardens four times for short "respite care" stays. Unlike any other place I spoke with, The Gardens will accommodate a stay as short as two weeks. This is extremely helpful as we care for my dad at home and he is not quite ready for full time living there (assisted or independent). The price is reasonable. The facilities are good. Not overly fancy, but management provides all that the residents would want: exercise room/class, movie room, two or three separate outdoor sitting areas, and a nice dining room. The rooms themselves are clean and well maintained, with a variety of floorplans. Key for us is that they have an outdoor smoking area. The real attraction of The Gardens is the staff and the management. To a person...from the executive director on down...they are friendly, welcoming, and caring for the needs of my dad. Their attention to him goes beyond simple rote scheduling or provision of contracted services. They truly engage him, provide for any need that comes along (and there seem to be many unexpected such needs....), and treat him with respect. To anyone who is faced with placing a loved one in a place to live outside the home, you know that respect, and professional, friendly care, are critically important. I highly recommend The Gardens at Escondido to anyone who is in need of such service.

Looked at alot of diffrent places and all were either way too expensive or were not somewhere i felt comfortable putting a loved one in. But the gardens of escondido definitely fit our budget and standard. Great place.

At first I was worried about moving grandma into a new home. We’ve experienced some issues in the past, but I feel like we’ve made the better decision on this on. Upon arrival I was bombarded with smiles and a warm welcoming staff. I have a good feeling about this place and hope to continue hearing good things.

When my father had an unexpected hospital stay and we learned he would need a certain level of care it was such a blessing to meet Deborah Buffamanti. She worked with us during Covid along zoom! tours and took pictures of the room. She treated us like family. I am so grateful for her kind support and professionalism. Kathleen, Darla and Michelle have been wonderful to work with. Our family feels confident that dad is in a place like home. Thank you Atria team for all you do.Rachael Perkins-Gutierrez

Big thank you to Debbie Buffamante for her kindness and insight into my struggle with my mothers dementia. My emotions got the best of me and she calmed me and assured me I am making the right decision. How lucky we are to have found a community that will care for mom with the skills we lack. Im looking forward to going back to being a daughter with less stress.

A wonderful place to work. Great staff always putting Residents first!

All the staff are great & go above and beyond. Alzheimers is a horrible disease that uniquely affects everyone in the family. The Atria team does a great job of preparing us as our loved one travels on their new path.My father (in memory care) and mother (assisted care) loves the food and treasures the excursionsInvestigate and you will see that Atria is a great value of safety that treat residents with respect and dignity.

Everyone at Atria has gone above and beyond to care for my parents, and give them quality of life. They are always available and respond quickly to any of my concerns. I am very grateful to have them.

Atria North Escondido has exceeded my expectations in every way. Theyve created a safe and happy environment for its residents with a full calendar of events to keep them engaged and entertained. The staff is also extremely professional and caring. Its a great place!

My mom recently moved into Atria. Shes lived in the same house for the last 40 years and has been living by herself for the last 30 years. Needless to say, she did not really want to move from her home that shes been in for a very long time. Ive contacted and visited 6 places and Atria meets all of her needs. Her memory is not as good as it used to be and she needs extra help. This location has services that allow her to remain if her memory continues to diminish. Atrias staff has been wonderful, patient and caring. Ive been trying to convince my mom to move for the past 4 years and she literally told me today that she is so happy she made the move. These are words that I thought Id never hear from her. Thank you to everyone at Atria for making my mom feel at home and removing all her anxiety from making the move.
April 2020
Our Atria tour was very helpful! The facility was cozy, clean, and staff was friendly. The layout was not overwhelming. My parents do not have to walk a long distance to the dining room or other community rooms where activities are available. The Ambassador Program would be a great help as my parents transition.

Love the staff here! Lisa and Sophia are so great and always willing to go above and beyond to help their residents and take care of staff. I also have the pleasure of working with Kimmy and Shane who have always been helpful. I love every opportunity I have to work with this team and interact with their residents.

I have been researching senior facilities in the Escondido area. My parents have lived in Escondido for 45 years and want to stay there. They are social and want to be active. I follow their Facebook group and have been really impressed with how many activities they have for holidays and seasons. It is also centrally located, which makes it easy to visit. Ive talked to the staff as well, and they are very supportive.* Im writing today because I wondered how they are dealing with this current health crisis. I called and asked one of the managers how they are reacting to the ongoing news. They said they were making sure the residents knew the updated info. I love that they treat the residents as though they are their own parents.

My mom has been here for 2.5 years. She loves it here. Your staff is always kind and courteous to all that come to your facility, whether you are a family member, resident, or potential resident. It has been a pleasant experience for my mom. And my family is most grateful that she has such a nice place to live out the rest of her days.

As anyone that has gone through the process of researching care facilities, visiting them all and then interviewing the staff, it is tiring and stressful. And then moving your loved one, in our case, our Mom did not want to go and was very difficult. However, Atria could not have been more helpful. The entire staff aided in the transition, Glen, Darla, Sophia and Kimi. And now, Mom is happy and we feel comforted knowing she has care 24, 7 if needed. I recently spent 3 days at Atria sitting with my Mom for 4-5 hours each day and was able to see how the staff interacts with all residents. They have so much patience and always a kind word but also are obviously well schooled in the services they provided. If Atria has availability, Id recommend not looking anywhere else to place a member of your family.

We moved my Dad, who is 89, into Atria North Escondido in October 2014. We researched and toured many assisted living and memory care facilities in north San Diego and found Atria to be a great fit for my Dad. The staff are friendly and helpful and the services provided for my Dad far exceeded our expectations. There are many outing and activities daily and my Dad enjoys many of them. Families are welcome at all the events and we feel like part of a big family when we go visit.
