My experience with MorningStar was as a 3rd party caregiver to one of their residents. As such, I was able to experience life inside the facility, accompanying my client to meals, activities, and occasionally having to reach out to the nursing staff to assist. The facility is very nice. The nursing staff left something to be desired. Witnessed lots of gossiping and immaturity amongst the staff. CNA's not responsive when assistance was needed. Watched 2 different residents fall during exercise class on separate occasions, a big concern for me and my client. The staff seems to resent their residents having private caregivers, yet they seem to consistently fall short. My client regularly missed her shower because the CNA's were "too busy", another red flag. The biggest disappointment for my client and other residents that I spoke to, was the kitchen. The menu always looks great, but you rarely ever got what was on it, because they were always running out of everything. For example, you order the chicken salad on a croissant, you get chicken salad or lunch meat on a hot dog bun, because they ran out of croissants and chicken salad after the first 10 people get served. For what they pay, the meals are awful. They need to take some of that profit and hire a kitchen staff that knows how to adequately order and plan menus, and put more money into that part of the budget. It's seriously lacking and a huge disappointment.

I have toured Morningstar twice now and both times I was thoroughly impressed. Not only is the sales director amazing, kind, and compassionate. But all of the employees that I met were outgoing and shared who they were and what they do on a day-to-day basis to help residents. I am happy to work with this location and bring residents to live there.

I cannot say enough positive things about Morning Star Senior Living. I moved my mom in roughly a year ago. To say she wasn’t thrilled about moving from her home to an assisted living facility would be the understatement of the year. She didn’t believe she needed it. I had no idea where to begin. I knew it was the right decision, even though we got so much push back from her. When I met with the staff of Morning Star, I KNEW this was the right choice. That sense of guilt and fear was replaced by joy and excitement for her. I remember them telling me that assisted living was going to be the best thing for her, even if she couldn’t see it. So, kicking and screaming, we got her there. Lindsey and Paula were with me the whole time during her transition to assisted living. I never felt lost, alone or overwhelmed. I was given cell phone numbers of almost everyone there. I knew I could call and someone would be able to help me almost immediately. And I called with some ridiculous questions and requests but never felt I was inconveniencing them whatsoever. Cindy, the nurse on staff has been willing to meet with me with little or no notice. She knows my mom’s care plan and works diligently to follow it. If there is any issue, or miscommunication, it is handled appropriately and immediately. After a couple of months, I started to see sparks of the mother I grew up with coming to life. She was showing interest in things that she hadn’t wanted to do in several years. She started talking about her physical therapists and the other residents that live there. Mom was making friends. She was happy. She was thriving. Why didn’t I do this sooner?!? I 100% believe this is due to the care she has been receiving at Morning Star. They know every resident, know their families, and truly work to make this facility a community. The food is excellent. The activities are excellent. The building is beautiful and it doesn’t feel like any care facility I have ever visited. We couldn’t be happier with how she is doing one year later. Last summer I was worrying that I would be planning a funeral. This year, that thought hasn’t even crossed my mind. I researched other facilities in the area and even tried a home health care facility for a few weeks. It wasn’t even close to what we were wanting for mom. However, Morning Star is everything AND MORE. My biggest fear was that I was going to need to quit my job and take care of her, because no one else could do it the right way. They take care of her BETTER than I can. If you are considering moving a parent here, do not wait!! I give it my highest recommendation.

Eureka! We are so glad to have found the perfect place for Mom after an extensive review of many, many facilities. We are so grateful for the compassionate and capable staff, the great meals, the top-notch cleanliness and maintenance, outstanding therapy, right down to the administrators personally getting her room cleaned and ready to move in on very short notice and attending to every detail of the move-in. Wow. Thanks to all the staff for turning a difficult rehab situation into a very positive one, with Mom telling us daily how much she likes living at Morningstar. We really could not ask for more. You are all rock stars!

I can’t even begin to express how amazing the overall experience at MorningStar has been for both my father and me. We moved him into the Assisted Living side about 6 months ago and it’s been a joy. He enjoyed the meals and loved interacting with team who looked after him. When it came time to move him into a memory care environment we never hesitated, as we seamlessly moved him into the MorningStar Memory Care wing. Words will not begin to convey the love and care my Dad received EVERY day with the staff. The facility is gorgeous, the amenities and activities are superb. And without exception all requests for my Dad were honored. Cindy is a true angel as the nurse/caregiver/medical head.. she was so invested in my Dads care up until the very end. Lindsay was such a great person and a positive light at the facility, always keeping things fun and positive. Lastly, it was the Exec Director Paula who held my Dads hand while I rushed to be with him at the end. That level of care and compassion can never be forgotten, especially at such a time of need. Thank you to everyone at MorningStar!! U were a such a blessing for my Dad and our whole family.

If I could, I would give MorningStar 10 stars! The building itself is beautiful; the food is good. But the very best part for us are the people. Paula, (executive director), is genuinely caring and always makes time to talk about any questions or concerns. Lindsey (director of community relations) is amazingly qualified and a ray of sunshine, willing to help out with anything! Michele (wellness director) is a TREASURE! Skilled, caring, concerned. And Cindy (nurse) is also compassionate & dedicated. These women are BUSY - but always find a minute to answer questions and offer advice. There are so many others...too many to mention here...who make up a team that has become family. It's coming up on a year since we moved my 85-year-old mom into the assisted living side of MorningStar. And it was one of the most difficult...and best...decisions of my life. Mom didn't want to come. She didn't want to move. Of course. That's normal. But she needed others to help look after her. We couldn't ignore that anymore. From the very beginning, Mom has been made to feel special and loved. And in less than a week after moving in, I heard her tell one of the other residents that this was the nicest place she's ever lived. She loves it there. We are so blessed to have found MorningStar.

She is so happy and constantly says how much she enjoys her new surroundings and caretakers. Everyone is so friendly and she receives the best of care. Our son from out of town recently visited grandma and couldn't believe the change in her affect. She is engaged in activities, stimulated by conversations and has made many new friends. My mom moved into Morningstar back in March. We have been pleased with the facility since day one. They have been very helpful and accommodating. It is a nice clean environment and the staff there has been great to work with. They have a lot of great activities for the residents and the food is good. The dining hall is beautiful and is similar to eating at a nice restaurant for every meal. It gives us peace of mind knowing mom is well taken care of there.

Our mother, Bev was a resident at Morningstar for a year and a half. Our experience with Morningstar was extremely positive. The facility is immaculate, but the people are what makes that place special. Everyone we came across was very professional and polite, and above all caring. As mom's Alzheimer's transition progressed the Morningstar team integrated seamlessly with hospice to make the very best of a difficult situation. Every time I drive by that place I am reminded of all the wonderful people we met there. A special thank you to a group of nurses and CNA's that showed such amazing compassion - I have a lump in my throat as I am typing this... We will have nothing but the best memories of our interaction with the Morningstar team!

Morninstar Assisted Living and Memory Care is a 5 star community in my eyes. They treat their residents like family and the staff always make whoever enters the building feel like they are right at home. They truly care about each resident who lives there as their own. I've had the privilege of working with all the wonderful staff, Paula, Christie, Sarah, Lindsey, Kim, Jon, Terri ect. We have had the luxury of building a partnership with Morningstar to provide St Croix Hospice Services to their residents and families when the need arises for hospice care. I can't think of a better leadership staff to partner with and I would highly recommend anyone looking to have their loved one in a AL or Memory Care community to definitely put Morningstar Community at the top of their list! It's a beautiful place but more importantly Morningstar has beautiful staff with big hearts!

My mother and father-in-law moved into Morningstar almost two years ago. My mother in law lived in the memory care unit until she passed away this summer. During that time, the staff, along with hospice care were so wonderful. They treated my mother in law with such kindness, gentleness, respect and love.
